    Accommodation for a Multiple Night Stay

    We found this Ryokan while looking for a place with great food to end our Sapporo trip, and it was the right choice. The Italian dinner course was delicious dish after dish—there wasn’t a single miss. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to choose, the swordfish cotoletta (cutlet) would be number one. It was the first time I’ve ever thought swordfish was truly delicious. We also ordered the paid wine pairing, and it matched the dishes perfectly and felt like great value. Breakfast is Japanese-style, and you can really tell it’s carefully prepared with attention to flavor. Most of the staff were young, cheerful, and proactively spoke with us, which left a great impression. At the same time, they adjusted to our pace, so the sense of distance felt just right. We also loved the quiet atmosphere of Oku-Jozankei and wished we had booked a Multiple Night Stay. Overall, this was a Ryokan with an exceptionally high level of satisfaction.

    An Elegant One-Night, Two-Day Stay

    The staff’s hospitality, attentive care down to the smallest details, delicious meals, and well-maintained Facility all made this an outstanding Ryokan with nothing to fault. The Onsen was wonderfully smooth, free-flowing from the source, and because the temperature is relatively low, you can enjoy it again and again. We had a truly elegant stay. Highly recommended. Thank you to all the staff—we would love to visit again.

    Choosing this Accommodation was absolutely the right decision!

    From check-in to strolling around the grounds, relaxing with coffee on the terrace, an in-room bath, delicious Italian cuisine, a drink by the fireplace, and an outstandingly tasty hokke breakfast—everything was wonderful! I wasn’t familiar with Accommodations in this area, so I carefully considered my options on IKYU and choosing this place was absolutely the right decision! I’d love to stay again.

    Repeat Stay

    I stayed here last year, and this was my second visit. When I mentioned that it had been my husband’s birthday two days earlier, they kindly provided sparkling wine and a warm message at dinner. Thank you very much. The hospitality was as wonderful as ever, along with the Onsen and delicious meals—it truly made me glad we came. When we visit Hokkaido again, I would love to stay here again.

    It became a wonderful memory of my 60th birthday.

    I stayed here once about eight years ago. This time, the staff greeted us with warm smiles, the Room and bath were spotless, the hot water was excellent, the meals were even more delicious, and the garden trees had grown beautifully. Please forgive my bluntness, but I felt that the overall standard of this Accommodation has improved. Above all, there was a minor issue during my previous stay, and I was truly surprised and touched that it had been passed on—at check-in I was told, “The manager informed me about what happened before; we apologize for any inconvenience at that time.” I believe that kind of care is what makes this Accommodation so wonderful. Just one personal comment: I thought dinner could have been a little more filling. That said, we really enjoyed the late-night rice balls as well, so we ended up completely satisfied! Next time we’ll visit with our family—and not wait another eight years.

    The breakfast rice is excellent!

    From arrival with a warm welcome to a courteous send-off after check-out, the attentive service from the staff was truly impressive. The Room was spacious, and the in-room Onsen was kept at a comfortable temperature—so relaxing you could stay in it forever. Dinner featured delicious Italian cuisine with thoughtful explanations, and the homemade bread was so good I ended up having three pieces. The filet was cooked to perfection as well. Breakfast rice was outstanding—so flavorful and perfectly cooked that it hardly needed any side dishes, and I couldn’t stop eating. It may have been the best rice I’ve ever had. When I asked, I learned that the chef carefully adjusts the cooking each day to match changes in humidity, temperature, and other conditions—an experience that fully lives up to expectations. This Accommodation is definitely one I will return to.

    A peaceful stay at an Accommodation during the first snowfall

    I enjoyed a private bath with continuously flowing hot spring water, available 24 hours a day. The temperature was slightly on the hot side, and combined with the water quality it warmed me up thoroughly. Even without a large public bath, having a tub big enough to stretch out in meant I could bathe whenever I felt like it, so I really appreciated the in-Room bath. The Room also has a balcony, which was perfect for cooling down after warming up. It seems it had started snowing the day before, and outside was a world of snow. Experiencing the famous powder snow for the first time was personally moving. Dinner is Italian, but marbled beef can feel heavy for an older stomach. Wherever you go in Japan, wagyu tends to be very rich and fatty. I hope leaner cuts become more appreciated again. Breakfast is Japanese-style and features a large grilled fish; the flavor is delicious, but it feels more like a hearty grilled-fish set meal than something refined. The staff were friendly and pleasant. Their attentiveness—whether during meal service or when taking a leisurely walk around the property—struck just the right balance: present when needed but not intrusive. There were also many international guests (more than half), and plenty of staff members who could assist them in foreign languages. From the narrow reception area right by the entrance, you proceed into an open atrium overlooking an inner courtyard; that sense of space felt wonderful. I could gaze at the snowy scenery without getting tired of it—it was truly relaxing.

    This was my second stay this year.

    I stayed on a day of heavy snowfall in December, and at check-in a staff member kindly offered, “Shall we clear the snow off your car before you leave?” I gratefully accepted, and the next morning I was able to drive off right away. Thank you very much. After arriving at the Hotel, I felt at ease as if I had come home, enjoyed the Onsen many times, and was able to relax deeply. Last year, a staff member who had just started out guided me to my Room, and seeing them again after a year and a half made me genuinely happy. Both my husband and I have completely fallen in love with Kasho Gyoen, so we made our next Reservation. This time we are planning our first Multiple Night Stay, and we are already looking forward to it. We would love to stay with you again. Thank you very much for everything this time as well.

    It was a truly relaxing time.

    This is an Accommodation I highly recommend. Every dish was carefully prepared and beautifully seasoned, and everything was delicious. At dinner, the staff member who assisted us showed thoughtful, natural consideration that left a strong impression, and my daughter was delighted. We were also very satisfied with the Room interior and the Onsen temperature. It’s not an easy distance for us to visit often, but it’s an Accommodation we would love to return to. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Hokkaido.

    It was the best anniversary ever!

    We chose this Hotel for our 22nd wedding anniversary trip and were extremely satisfied. The staff's attentive service and thoughtfulness made us feel comfortable, and we definitely want to come back! The meals were delicious, the drinks complemented them perfectly, and time flew by.     A truly wonderful ac...

    A truly wonderful accommodation that satisfied us in every way!! - Shuttle service from Sapporo Station We initially planned to visit by car, but due to unexpected snowfall the night before, we were able to take the shuttle bus instead. Without even asking, they also arranged our return bus ride for us. - Stunning natural views from the window We stayed at just the right time to enjoy beautiful snowy scenery. The view from the large windows was breathtaking! - In-room bath that doesn’t cause fatigue The in-room bath was so comfortable that we could soak for hours! It was easy to adjust the temperature with a single touch when it got too hot. The quality of amenities was excellent, leaving our hair silky smooth. - Exquisite dining experience The meals were absolutely delicious!! Every dish in the dinner course surprised us with its taste. Unlike other places where one or two dishes might be underwhelming, everything here was perfect. The portions were just right as well. The grilled Atka mackerel served at breakfast had an amazing size and flavor balance. - Additional perks The availability of board games and late-night snacks (rice balls, miso soup, baked goods) added a nice touch. It provided an ideal environment for fully enjoying a relaxing staycation. The staff’s attentive yet unobtrusive service left a very positive impression on us. Overall, we are extremely satisfied!!! We can’t wait to stay here again!!

    How many bugs appeared?

    The service attitude of the foreign staff was very rude. It would be better to ensure proper Japanese hospitality. (The Japanese staff were very kind and provided excellent service.) The guest room was a bit old, and there were several insects.

    A wonderful accommodation with delicious cuisine.

    I made a reservation after hearing about the delicious cuisine at this accommodation. A bus picked me up at Sapporo Station, and I arrived in about an hour. The welcome drink was a red sparkling wine, which was very tasty and immediately set an exciting tone for my stay. The room featured earthen walls and lantern-like furnishings, giving it a thoughtfully designed atmosphere. It was spacious enough for two people, with two TVs available. The onsen was private to the guest room and had a perfect water temperature. While I thought it would be nice to have a large public bath or open-air bath, the private onsen provided ample relaxation. Dinner was Italian cuisine that showcased creativity from pasta to dessert—it was so delicious that I wanted to enjoy it again. Breakfast offered a mix of set meals and buffet-style options, which were thoroughly enjoyable. Another memorable aspect of my stay was the attentiveness of the staff. A veteran female staff member promptly handled several accidents or issues without any sign of displeasure, leaving a strong impression on me. Although it rained heavily on the day of checkout, all staff members saw us off with smiles while holding umbrellas—a truly remarkable display of hospitality.

    A Secluded Accommodation

    【Highlights (Impressive Points)】 - Onsen that leaves your skin smooth and silky. - Scenic views of the national park from the room, with minimal artificial structures (except for a few). (I wanted to keep watching it for hours and felt reluctant as check-out time approached.) - Delicious cuisine. (The dishes were not masked by seasoning but highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients, making everything taste wonderful.) - Wildlife such as thrushes, woodpeckers, nuthatches, foxes, and more could be observed through the large windows in the room. 【Areas for Improvement (Concerns)】 - During check-in instructions, we were told not to open windows due to insects entering. However, immediately after checking in without opening any windows, we found four stink bugs and four ladybugs near the window area. More appeared later on. (We wondered where they came from and speculated that perhaps previous guests had opened the window. If so, why didn’t housekeeping notice? This left some doubts.) While we understand that being surrounded by nature means encountering insects is inevitable, their numbers suggested that cleaning staff only addressed visible ones without thoroughly checking every corner during cleaning. For a while afterward, I kept mistaking knots on the floor for stink bugs! - Significant variation in staff service quality: After staying for two nights and three days, it became clear whether interactions stemmed from routine tasks or genuine care—this difference was noticeable among individual staff members. - When serving dessert during meals, one spoon was missing—something easily noticeable when placing them. - Coffee served was only about a quarter of a cup full; it made me wonder if it was someone’s leftover drink. - We ordered three iced teas; however: portions varied significantly between glasses; no confirmation occurred before placing drinks at incorrect seats. - A car with someone inside parked directly below our window forced us to close curtains out of discomfort. (It might have been contractors or related personnel—but allowing vehicles into such areas with occupants inside felt intrusive.) Staff who assisted us upon arrival/check-in/returning from sightseeing/check-out provided exceptional service throughout our stay—it truly stood out positively!

    It was a truly wonderful accommodation.

    First of all, the hospitality was excellent. The room was well-equipped with amenities, including disposable toilet slippers, leaving a great impression. The onsen in the room was at an ideal temperature and designed for easy adjustment, allowing for a relaxing soak. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were perfect for a good night's sleep. Meals were delightful; dinner featured delicious Italian cuisine with an impressive portion of wagyu beef. Breakfast was also outstanding. The driving advice provided was very helpful as well. It was an exceptional accommodation with no noticeable flaws.

    An unexpected visit to the perfect Hotel.

    I visited with my partner in Hokkaido. We decided on the Hotel the night before and visited unexpectedly, but we were captivated by the wonderful service of the staff. Among all the Hotels I have stayed at, I was amazed and further charmed by how delicious the food was. Not only was it comfortable to stay, but even meal times were enjoyable and relaxing. The price is a bit high, but I truly felt it was worth it thanks to their exceptional hospitality. I would love to visit again in winter next time. Thank you very much!

    A delightful accommodation where you can relax at your own pace.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. Upon entering the lobby, I thought it was very stylish. I was welcomed with champagne, and since there was some time before check-in, I enjoyed it on a lovely deck. The room was clean, and the private hot spring bath had the perfect temperature and excellent water quality that left my skin smooth and warm even after bathing. Known for its focus on meals, the Italian course dinner was incredibly delicious, and everyone finished it completely. The wine pairing was also excellent. For breakfast, the grilled fish stood out as particularly delicious. The staff's hospitality was outstandingly polite and attentive—definitely looking forward to staying here again!

    I would love to visit again.

    We stayed with our children, and the staff were very kind, making it a comfortable Ryokan. The Onsen was especially wonderful. The faucet allowed cold water to be added, so even children could enjoy bathing comfortably. The room was spacious and clean, and the view of the trees from the window was soothing and satisfying. Despite having back pain, the futon provided excellent comfort for sleeping. We had requested connecting rooms in advance, which allowed easy access between rooms—a great convenience. However, the door of the connecting room was heavy and tended to close even with a stopper in place, requiring us to reopen it several times. The meals were delicious with just the right portions—unlike typical Onsen cuisine that often comes in overwhelming quantities—making it easy to finish everything without waste. Although it's understandable since it's free of charge, we found the shuttle bus quite old with poor air conditioning that made it uncomfortably hot—a bit disappointing. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at this accommodation and would love to visit again if given another opportunity!

    I enjoyed a quiet and delightful stay.

    I have always avoided large-scale hotels, ryokans, and accommodations in crowded tourist areas, so this was an ideal location and environment for me. I am not bothered by insects at all, but it was a bit disappointing that the onsen bath was enclosed (not open-air), so I couldn't enjoy the sounds of birds or the scent of greenery. However, the meals were exceptional (the deliciousness of the vegetables and the dramatic taste of the bread were outstanding), and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Since my husband and I have different wake-up times and bathing schedules, having partitions in every part of the room was also a great feature.

    You can enjoy a quiet stay.

    You can relax quietly and comfortably. The terrace of the room is not very accessible in summer due to large moths, making it a bit dangerous. The room is spacious, and you can enjoy watching TV on the comfortable sofa. However, the ventilation in the bathroom is weak, making it humid. Meals are served at a dining area near the lobby. You need to go down steep stairs, but the view is great. However, with air conditioning running, your lower body might feel cold. The popular monkfish dish was difficult to cut with chopsticks and required a knife and fork. While it's said to be popular, preferences may vary. Chopsticks are provided for meals, making them easy to eat. Everything except for the monkfish was delicious. Breakfast was served in a counter-like area overlooking outside without going downstairs. It included a prepared tray along with buffet-style salad, juice, and fruits. Coffee was served at the end of breakfast as well. The breakfast was very delicious too. After dinner snacks were available and could be taken back freely to your room since dinner started at 5:30 PM; we took some snacks back after eating dinner. There were various options like steamed cakes, madeleines, rice balls (onigiri), juice drinks soups additionally Brandy offered too! They also offer Saeki Chizu's esthetic treatments which seemed interesting though limited menu choices led us skipping trying that out On 3rd floor laundry machine dryer facilities exist helpful mid-travel washing convenience worked smoothly appreciated overall experience quiet relaxing peaceful stay good accommodation adding public bath would enhance further

    The facility is new ...

    The facility is new and comfortable. While insect prevention measures are understandable, it would be ideal if some effort, like using screens, could allow air into the bathroom. Dinner and wine were delicious and enjoyable, but breakfast could use a bit more improvement. After confirming with the front desk in advance, I went to dinner in a yukata, only to find that 100% of other guests were dressed in Western clothing. This created a strong sense of discomfort and made me feel very out of place. Well, to be fair, the yukata was faded and wrinkled (laughs).

    The food was delicious, but...

    The Hotel was comfortable, and the staff provided excellent service, but the dinner was disappointing. The food itself was delicious in a private dining room, but as soon as we started the first course, the next course arrived. We requested that they wait until we finished one course before bringing out the next so we could enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. However, they kept peeking into our private room with the next dish repeatedly, making it impossible to relax. Additionally, some dishes were slightly cold. The wine list was also very disappointing. None of the wines I wanted were available, so I ordered what seemed like the best option from their selection. Unfortunately, it tasted no better than convenience store wine and cost nearly 10,000 yen. While this price would be reasonable for good wine, I strongly believe they should improve their selection with a more competent sommelier or distributor. To reiterate: while the taste of each dish was good overall, due to poor service timing and an inadequate wine selection, it did not meet expectations for an auberge experience.

    The hospitality was on par with a luxury city Hotel, and the relaxed atmosphere during meals was truly delightful. The building was very clean, and the guest rooms were spacious enough. It was an intimate yet luxurious Ryokan.

    It was a wonderful accommodation with thoughtful attention to detail throughout.

    The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and provided excellent service, making our stay very pleasant. The meals were served with great care, and both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. The onsen with free-flowing hot spring water was delightful, and we appreciated the towel rack that allowed us to dry our towels. We would love to create another opportunity to visit again!
