    A Luxury Onsen Accommodation with Mt. Fuji Right in Front

    We stayed for one night during the Obon holiday. There is no Shuttle Service from Kawaguchiko Station, so it was about a 15-minute taxi ride. Since the Hotel is located up a hill, walking to nearby restaurants and back was quite challenging, so we recommend relaxing at the Hotel once you arrive. The Hotel had plants placed throughout, creating a botanical atmosphere. The staff who assisted us were very polite and welcoming. From the lobby, we could also see Mt. Fuji, and we were able to check in at a relaxed pace while enjoying an original Hotel drink. Our Room was a corner Room on the third floor, with a double-sink vanity and a spacious living area. Compared with other Fufu properties we’ve stayed at, it felt slightly smaller, but it was still more than comfortable for unwinding. In particular, we could view Mt. Fuji from the window and enjoy the scenery leisurely from the chair by the window. Also, in addition to the bathroom, there was an in-room Onsen bath, so we soaked many times and could also wash our hair there. However, since the Onsen faces part of the Hotel Facility area, I was slightly concerned about visibility from outside—but the Onsen benefits were wonderful and left my skin feeling silky smooth. The amenities such as lotion were also excellent quality, so I felt comfortable enjoying the Onsen again and again. Because we don’t eat large portions for both dinner and breakfast, they kindly reduced the serving sizes for us, which allowed us to enjoy everything deliciously until the end. The natto and tofu gratin at breakfast was especially tasty—I’d love to have it again. Overall, both meals were delicious, and we were able to fully relax and recover in the Onsen—two very satisfying days.

    It was a disappointing experience.

    Because our previous stay at Fufu Atami was wonderful, we arrived with high expectations, but this time it was a disappointing stay. The meal service was extremely slow. Even though we eat quickly, dinner took about 2 hours and 40 minutes, and breakfast took about 1 hour. Also, at breakfast there were no staff nearby, so it took time even to ask for water. At the bar, the s’mores were presented only as “an experience,” with no explanation that there would be a charge. We were surprised to be billed JPY 1,200 at checkout. There was also little explanation of the activities overall, and a lack of clear guidance and noticeable misstatements from staff stood out. In addition, the quality of the food felt underwhelming compared with other Fufu properties. Because we like the Fufu brand, we had high expectations, but this stay left us worried that “maybe other properties are the same.” We hope to see improvements in the future.

    Everything was satisfactory.

    After having such a wonderful stay at Fufu Atami and Sekaiye last year, we chose Fufu Kawaguchiko for this trip to see Mt. Fuji. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff kindly accommodated our dining requests in advance, so we enjoyed every meal comfortably until the very end. The flambé and other presentations were also a lot of fun. On the second morning, breakfast was Western-style, but the sausages, bacon, and prosciutto felt a bit heavy for me. There were plenty of towels provided, and the easy-to-walk-in slippers for indoors, as well as loungewear and pajamas, were all prepared—everything was excellent. If I had to mention one thing, I wished there had been a Shuttle Service—the hill was quite steep (laughs).

    An Accommodation You’ll Want to Return to Again and Again

    Since my first stay around 2019, this has been my number one “Accommodation I want to return to.” Sometimes revisiting a wonderful Accommodation can be a little disappointing, but this time there was nothing like that at all—I was completely satisfied with every aspect of the stay once again. The Room had a natural interior with the warmth of wood and felt very comfortable, and the lobby was also a relaxing space surrounded by greenery. From the moment we arrived, it truly felt like an escape from everyday life. Above all, the dining was outstanding. Not only did everything taste amazing, but the presentation and overall experience made it exciting—wondering what would come next was part of the fun. Even my partner, who doesn’t often say “delicious,” was genuinely impressed by the meat dish. Along with the meat’s natural sweetness and rich flavor, the pairing with the sauce was excellent—we were still talking on our way home about how truly delicious it was. It didn’t just meet expectations; it reminded me all over again how special this Accommodation is. We would love to visit again.

    It became an unforgettable memory.

    As this was an Accommodation I’d been curious about for a long time, we chose Lake Kawaguchi for our first stay at Fufu and visited on our wedding anniversary. It looked wonderful in the photos, but in person it was many times more beautiful than we imagined. Every plant and piece of furniture was stylish, and wherever we looked it felt like a truly lovely space. My husband, who loves plants, also really enjoyed it. What I especially want to express my gratitude for is the thoughtfulness of the staff. We had two small children with us, and everyone—including the younger staff—was very kind and attentive. They responded properly to every little thing our children said and treated them as guests in their own right, which made us very happy. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and even our child who usually eats very little ate a lot. We had a truly happy time. Thank you very much.

    The in-room loungewear was disappointing.

    Check-in was crowded, and we were kept waiting for about 15 minutes in front of the bar counter. After that, we were told, “Check-in will be in your Room…”. I wish we had been taken to the Room from the start. We were told that the loungewear could be worn while dining, but only S and M sizes were provided initially. Although exchanges are possible, they were so small they seemed like children’s sizes. We eventually switched to an L size, but since this is not something meant to be worn tight-fitting, I hope you will reconsider this.

    An Accommodation filled with heartfelt hospitality

    We stayed for two nights at this wonderful Accommodation! The staff, the atmosphere, the food, and the Room—everything was top-notch. For example, the museum we planned to visit was closed, so we decided to spend the afternoon of our second day relaxing at the Hotel. There was garden furniture under the pergola in the garden, and it felt more refreshing than going to any tourist spot. The Room also had light wood furniture throughout and was very comfortable. It felt as if the entire Room was creating a warm welcome. The meals were excellent as well: on the first night we enjoyed both a fun performance and delicious food. We were also grateful that breakfast the next morning, dinner on the second night, and breakfast again the following morning were all served with well-balanced portions and variety. Every staff member we met in every situation had outstanding hospitality and a perfect sense of distance. Thank you very much. The only disappointment was that even though seats were supposed to be reserved, the Limited Express Fuji Excursion train was so crowded that people were standing in the aisle. At Kawaguchiko Station as well, there were so many people paying their fares that they overflowed all the way to track level. If it weren’t for these train issues, this is an Accommodation where we would definitely like to stay again.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    Thank you for taking care of us for our 1-night, 2-day stay. From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation, we received such warm hospitality, and the many plants in the lobby and our Room were very soothing. The Onsen was excellent—both the open-air bath in our Room and the large public bath were perfect. My husband and I used the bath in our Room many times. All of the meals were delicious, but the first bonito grilled over a wood fire was especially outstanding. At the bar we visited after dinner, the carefully made mojito was incredibly good. The atmosphere was great as well—highly recommended. This was our second stay at Fufu Kawaguchiko. Last time, unfortunately, we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji from our Room due to bad weather, so this trip was also meant as a “revenge” for that—but once again, unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate... We couldn’t see Mt. Fuji at all. It somehow made us laugh, but we had a wonderful view of Lake Kawaguchi instead, and the greenery of the nearby mountains was beautiful. We’ll keep trying and come back for another rematch (lol). Thank you very much for all your heartwarming hospitality!

    It was disappointing, especially since I had high expectations.

    As this was my first time visiting Lake Kawaguchi, I chose to stay at my favorite Fufu. I have stayed at the Nara property many times and had high expectations for Lake Kawaguchi as well, but there were several aspects of the service that left me with concerns. I arrived earlier than planned, but since I had a spa appointment booked for 2:00 PM, I assumed it would be fine. However, without any explanation, I was left waiting in front of the front desk for about an hour. When I was finally shown to my Room, it turned out the spa would be an in-room treatment. After arriving in the Room, the spa therapist came at 2:07 PM. Naturally, I expected to be able to take a shower before the treatment; when I asked just in case, their reaction was quite unclear. I said I would be quick and managed to shower and change within a few minutes. I felt uncomfortable because we were on time for a 2:00 PM appointment—if anything, it seemed the Hotel side was late. Also, if guests are going to be kept waiting for an hour at check-in, I would have appreciated being told so beforehand; we could have spent that time elsewhere. During that hour of waiting, all that was offered was a single cup of tea. For a Ryokan of this level, even asking “Is there anything else you need?” would have been appreciated. In addition, although we confirmed our breakfast time at check-in, when we checked again during dinner it turned out there had been a staff communication error and even the time itself was incorrect. As for the food: meals at Fufu Nara always impress me greatly, and I had no complaints about the cuisine here either. If I may add one suggestion only—having an option for breakfast rice cooked in a clay pot would taste better and also eliminate the hassle of requesting refills each time. Overall, because my expectations were high, this stay felt disappointing. I hope improvements will be made. (The canoe activity booked from 6:00 AM the next morning was excellent. Mount Fuji was truly beautiful—I can recommend it as you get to experience stunning scenery and fresh air early in the morning.)

    This was my 11th stay. Once again, I had a satisfying stay, but I was disappointed that the natto gratin at breakfast had been changed. The portion sizes of the meals also seemed smaller.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation.

    Since visiting Nikko last September, I’ve become a big fan of the “Fufu” brand and stayed here following my trip to Atami in January. As expected from the original “Fufu” with two Michelin Keys, it was outstanding. Dinner and breakfast were perfect in every way—flavor, service, and presentation. The Room also offered a breathtaking view with Mt. Fuji right in front of us, and we were extremely satisfied.\n\nThe only minor disappointment was the lack of lounge service like the one in Nikko. I’m used to Marriott-style lounge access and often base my Hotel stay around it, so that was the only point.\n\nJust before we left, the manager kindly said, “Please come again in another season,” which really stayed with me. It was a wonderful Accommodation. We will definitely return.

    Enjoy a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji!

    We splurged to find an Accommodation with a view of Mt. Fuji! We were lucky with the weather, but I never expected we’d be able to see it so perfectly straight on from our Room as well, so I was truly happy. It would have been even better if there had been a sofa or chair positioned to sit facing the window. The Room was flawless, and the food was delicious. The outdoor lounge with a bonfire had a wonderful atmosphere and was amazing. I also appreciated that beer and coffee milk were included in the free drinks. The amenities were just right—plenty of towels, bathrobes, loungewear, pajamas, and more. The only personal downside was that the water temperature in the private open-air bath attached to the guest room was quite hot, so I had to add cold water every time, which felt like a waste of time. It was too hot for a quick soak when I felt like it (lol). If a friend said they wanted to stay at an Accommodation with a view of Mt. Fuji, I would recommend this place without hesitation.     Are most of your guests international travelers?

    After check-in, the female staff member assigned to escort us to our Room walked at a very fast pace. An elderly guest using a cane could not keep up and became short of breath, having to stop along the way while desperately trying to follow. She paused briefly to wait, but soon continued at the same fast pace, so we finally said, “We’ll go to the Room ourselves.” She replied, “I see,” and handed us the Room key. This was my several-th time staying at Fufu, but it was my first time experiencing this. In the past we received very warm hospitality, but this time it felt like a different Accommodation. The cuisine has also changed significantly: overall lighter seasoning and healthier ingredients. There was a wide variety of flavors, and it was delicious in its own way. I informed the general manager verbally about the escort issue. I felt reassured because they understood. The Room is also well cleaned, and you can relax comfortably.

    The location was excellent.

    It was wonderful to be able to see Mt. Fuji from the Room and enjoy its many different expressions. However, I felt that dinner was probably prepared delicately so guests could experience a variety of Japanese dishes, but there were too many modifications, and to be honest, even as a Japanese person I did not find it tasty—my French partner seemed to feel even more strongly. It also took far too long: although we came to enjoy our stay in the Room, dinner started at 18:00 and we did not return to the Room until after 21:00. It took so long that we could not fully enjoy our stay, which was disappointing. I’m sorry, but I really don’t feel we spent time that was worth the Accommodation cost. We have stayed at several other Fufu properties as well, but they all have a similar style, and I felt that this would be enough for us going forward.

    Your Ideal Accommodation

    From the moment I saw the photos, I was impressed by the relaxing lobby that felt just like a botanical garden! I knew I had to visit, and I was so happy to make it happen. Mt. Fuji was right in front of me, and the weather was perfect—clear skies with not a single cloud. The furniture, all made from natural wood that evokes the forest, was simply stunning. At the entrance to the Room, there was a wonderful scent from lava stone and woody aroma oil. The Room itself was very comfortable, and the open-air bath in the guest room was spacious and relaxing. After using their original shampoo and conditioner my hair felt moisturized, and the body soap smelled great too. The hand soap became my favorite—I ended up buying everything, including the aroma oils. The meals were beautifully balanced Japanese cuisine: many dishes but not overly filling. Ingredients with a subtle wood-smoked aroma and even a tableside flambé for the meat sauce made it truly exciting. The seating area also had thoughtfully designed partitions so you don’t feel conscious of other guests’ eyes around you. Having them light the bioethanol fireplace in my Room at night was another highlight for me. The lava-stone coffee maker looked so stylish, and even the coffee cups matched my taste—everything had impeccable sense of design. Above all, even when I simply went to the restroom at the restaurant, every staff member’s warm attentiveness made me feel genuinely welcomed by an outstanding team. I’m so happy to have found my favorite Accommodation ever. Since I visited in midwinter, I definitely want to return again when it gets warmer. Thank you very much.”

    Fufu × Mount Fuji = The Best

    The facility and cuisine are excellent. It is positioned as a "luxury resort hotel" in terms of price range, but unfortunately, the quality of staff service has not yet reached that level. I understand that with the rapid expansion of the "Fufu" brand hotels, securing resources must be challenging. However, as I would like to stay again, I will share my thoughts. ● The room provides both loungewear and pajamas, which is wonderful. I requested LL size for men's loungewear and expected to hear something like "We will also bring LL size pajamas," but there was no such response. Calling the front desk again (and waiting while tidying up) felt inconvenient, so I settled for small M-size pajamas. A first-class hotel staff member would have anticipated this need. ● Dinner was creative Japanese cuisine with originality and delicious flavors—10 dishes were served in total. However, we were seated at a table on the edge of the dining area far from staff members. Although they said to "call us if needed," we had to go all the way to the kitchen ourselves to get their attention. A call button would be appreciated. Additionally, tea refills were not provided unless specifically requested. ● My family is sensitive to winter dryness often found in hotels or reinforced concrete buildings; therefore, a humidifier is essential for us. It was impressive that a humidifier was already prepared without needing a request beforehand. However, when asked how long it lasts on one fill-up of water, they replied “a whole day,” but it ran out after 8 hours instead—likely an uninformed answer given without proper checking. I hope that staff service quality can catch up with your excellent facilities and dining experience soon!

    In love with Fufu

    First time staying at a Fufu hotel, and it was an amazing surprise! Everything exceeded our expectations. The room was spotless and very comfortable, with well-prepared amenities. The food was absolutely delicious—by far the best onsen meals we've ever had. The hotel service was outstanding, with quick responses to our sudden change of plans. We were welcomed warmly, making us feel right at home upon arrival. We will definitely return and are also planning to visit other Fufu hotel locations in the future.     This was one of my repeat visits. The view of Mount Fuji is always breathtaking, offering a luxurious experience that never gets old, no matter how long you gaze at it. Especially in the morning, the changing hues of "Red Fuji" are mesmerizing. A stroll along the lakeside after meals adds to the charm. Exploring options for lunch by the lake and heading out to try something new is always exciting. However, there are many international visitors, which creates a slightly different atmosphere compared to typical domestic travel experiences. It’s surprising and fascinating to see how much Mount Fuji is loved worldwide. I only wish more domestic travelers could appreciate its beauty as well. I look forward to visiting again!

    Mount Fuji and Autumn Foliage

    This was our first stay at Fufu Kawaguchiko, and we received such warm, home-like hospitality that it became a wonderful memory for us. Perhaps Mt. Fuji is a little shy; during our stay it was often hidden behind a white curtain, but whenever the staff were attending to us, it seemed to feel at ease and show itself. Every Accommodation in the Fufu series offers excellent service, but your Accommodation felt pleasantly close and welcoming, allowing us to relax and enjoy our stay just as Mt. Fuji did. Also, my wife was deeply impressed with the spa treatment she received, saying it was the best she has ever had. We would appreciate it if you could pass on our thanks to the therapist who took care of her. Thank you very much for looking after us during our stay. We will definitely return.

    Perfect

    Everything was perfect and absolutely wonderful. Although it was unfortunate that we couldn't see Mt. Fuji due to the rain, spending time in such a beautiful space, listening to the sound of rain and enjoying the scent of the forest, was an ultimate relaxation. The delicious cuisine and warm hospitality from the staff were truly appreciated. Fufu Kawaguchiko is simply the best!

    Mount Fuji in Your Heart

    Unfortunately, the view of Mt. Fuji we were looking forward to was obscured by fog during our stay. However, a kind and beautiful staff member at check-in and breakfast warmly said, "I can see the Mt. Fuji in your heart," which truly touched us. The natural smiles and attentive service from the staff during check-in and breakfast made our time here even more enriching. It is these personal touches that highlight the charm of this accommodation. During dinner, the staff member serving us provided detailed explanations for each dish with impeccable manners while maintaining a comfortable distance. We learned that they had just joined this year as a new graduate, yet their calm demeanor and polished communication reflected excellent employee training at this accommodation. The cuisine was exceptional in taste, presentation, and service. The wine pairings along with sparkling wine and sake were outstanding as well. In particular, the sake "Tomine" stood out with its fruity aroma and perfect pairing with the dishes (we even visited its brewery to purchase it afterward!). The large communal bath only has an indoor section but is clean with perfectly adjusted water temperature. The post-bath area offers complimentary beer, Pocari Sweat drinks, coffee milk, ice cream, etc., showcasing thoughtful hospitality. Additionally, features like private open-air baths in guest rooms or spacious vanities added to our comfort—every detail was meticulously designed. While a slightly larger TV would have been ideal for perfectionists like us—it hardly mattered given how enjoyable our stay turned out overall! Next time around—we hope skies are clear so we may finally admire majestic views over real-life Mount-Fuji directly upon revisiting!

    The quality and hospitality are truly exceptional!

    Congratulations on receiving 2 Michelin Keys again this year! This is my second visit this year and fourth overall. I stayed in the luxurious suite I had always wanted to experience, featuring a spacious room, a large stone sauna room, and an in-room Sisley spa. Although the weather was unfortunately rainy, I was able to enjoy the beginning of the autumn foliage. As with other facilities, the service and hospitality remain exceptional. However, perhaps due to over 80% of guests being international visitors, the flavors of the dishes were generally too strong for my taste. I regret leaving some of the meat as it was too rich in oil. For dinner and breakfast rice cooked in an earthen pot, it felt overly soft. It seemed like such high-quality ingredients were not fully utilized—perhaps due to extended steaming time or reliance on butler service? Overall, it is undoubtedly a comfortable accommodation. While weather greatly influences the views here, it is still highly recommended!
