    A One-of-a-Kind Experience

    The bar counter was wonderful, and we enjoyed many cocktails. When we shared our preferences, the bartender created drinks on the spot, making it a truly enjoyable experience. The champagne brunch we had been looking forward to was a luxurious moment with breathtaking views. We were able to relax at the bar during café time and in the Onsen until the 2:00 PM check-out, making for a very satisfying stay. We would love to visit again.

    The Room was wonderf...

    The Room was wonderful, and thanks to the staff’s hospitality I was able to relax. In particular, the bartender’s attentiveness and service were kind even to someone who isn’t very knowledgeable about alcohol, and I had a great time. Some food and drinks are now charged separately, but given recent price increases, that’s understandable. If anything, I felt it was an effort to keep Accommodation Fees from rising too much. The only disappointments—though not issues with the Accommodation itself—were that the Onsen wasn’t particularly impressive and there was no shower cap.

    It was wonderful.

    After hearing about it from a friend, we made a Reservation on IKYU. Although we usually travel by car, this time we took public transportation and came at a relaxed pace. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The cocktails, the baths, the lounge, and all the staff were excellent. One thing I found puzzling was why some of the in-Room complimentary drinks were from Thailand overseas.

    I finally visited th...

    I finally visited this long-awaited Hotel for the first time. I called on the day of arrival and requested Shuttle Service to Chokoku-no-Mori Station. Because the number of Rooms is limited, neither the dining areas nor the Onsen ever felt crowded, and I was able to relax at a very leisurely pace. The staff’s thoughtful hospitality was outstanding, making it a truly meaningful stay. The cocktail pairing at dinner was a wonderful experience, with cocktails I would not normally order myself. Brunch also offered a wide variety of options, and it was a delight to enjoy champagne and wine from the morning. I felt this Accommodation is easy to use even for solo travelers. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

    An adults-only Hotel offering an extraordinary escape.

    This was a Hotel I’d been curious about for a long time. The Shuttle Service from the station was in a black Mercedes, and from that moment I could tell this place was on another level. From check-in to check-out, there’s a custom-made wide bar counter. The borrowed scenery of the mountains through the windows is also stunning. The overall color scheme—based on black to deep navy—creates an elegant, grown-up atmosphere. If possible, I’d prefer that people who are in a “All-you-can-drink!” party mood refrain from staying here. The cocktails range widely from classic to original creations, and the whisky selection is excellent. I also couldn’t help but discreetly observe the spirits they use and the bartender’s techniques (I’m a bartender too). I really enjoyed the lounge where you can casually have drinks and light bites. The brunch with champagne available from morning was great as well. I chose a compact Room type, but it was more than enough—after all, the bar counter is truly the heart of this Hotel. Being able to enjoy drinks until dusk while looking out at the Hakone mountains was fantastic. I plan to visit again in a year. A few points I noticed (on purpose)... - Overall, the lighting is quite dim; with my aging eyes it was tough (that’s on me). - Although it’s only three floors, everything is via stairs, so it may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. - The bar food was all very delicious but pricey. If you want to eat a lot, it’s best to pick up snacks at a convenience store around Yumoto beforehand. - Amenities in the Room and bath are minimal essentials only; if you’re particular about them, bring your own. - There are two large public baths, but their Facilities are surprisingly different. Another Hotel has been added to my list of places I’ll want to return to. Thank you very much.

    The meals and cockta...

    The meals and cocktails were not as delicious as expected, which was a bit disappointing. Including the amenities, it felt geared toward international tourists. The Facility and atmosphere are very nice, so I would recommend it for couples.

    It was our first stay in a while, and it was wonderful as always.

    Even though it was Golden Week and the Hotel was fully booked, I was able to spend my time calmly and without stress. It had been a year and a half since my last stay, but I was pleasantly surprised when, after the celebratory champagne at the bar, a staff member suggested a second drink by saying, “You like Big Peat, don’t you?”—casually recommending the whisky I came to enjoy during my previous visit. I was truly touched. In an instant, the year-and-a-half gap disappeared, and I felt completely at ease. The service from all the staff conveyed warm hospitality in subtle ways throughout; their sense of distance was just right, while still allowing guests to fully enjoy this Hotel’s distinctive escape from everyday life. Next time, I hope to return again without waiting so long. Thank you very much.

    It looks wonderful.

    It looks wonderful. However, it wasn’t an Accommodation suited to an elderly person like me. The smell of the Room linens was very unpleasant, the Room was extremely dark and uncomfortable, and to top it off, the meals didn’t suit my taste at all. It became emotionally distressing, and for the first time I found myself wanting to go home early. I had been interested in this place for a long time and was really looking forward to it, so I was truly disappointed. The atmosphere itself was genuinely wonderful.

    It was the most relaxing accommodation.

    I chose this place because I was intrigued by the concept of staying at a BAR. With drinks and breakfast all-inclusive, I wondered how much variety there would be, but everything exceeded my expectations and I was completely satisfied. It felt like there were over 100 kinds of alcohol available, with many cocktails I’d never heard of, and I was able to relax and enjoy them in a lounge with a great atmosphere. The staff were all kind, and it was very comfortable. The Room and bath were also clean and beautiful. I’d love to come back again for a truly refreshing getaway.

    If you’d like to casually enjoy an adults-only bar, this is the place.

    As the name suggests, this is a Hotel with a bar. The bar has a bright, classic atmosphere. Although it was a weekday, the bar was almost full and the bartender and staff were very busy. Because of that, it was disappointing that I couldn’t really ask for recommendations or chat about the drinks. Still, the service was polite, and the cocktails I ordered were delicious, so overall it was great. Prices are on the higher side, but we also had food such as French fries, sausages, and roast beef. Given the pricing, everything was well prepared and very tasty. The large public bath had only one small indoor hinoki bath area; I would have preferred both baths to be similar in size. The Room interior and the corridor leading to the bar were too dark; I wish there had been more lighting. I would definitely like to stay again if I have another opportunity.

    We visited while our...

    We visited while our son was away at a training camp. For a couple who loves alcohol, it was truly heaven! We started with a pre-party on the Romancecar on the way there, the welcome champagne at check-in was delicious, and after taking a bath we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the bar. The bartender’s hospitality was wonderful, and we ended up trying lots of cocktails we don’t usually drink. The snacks were also gorgeous to look at and really lifted our mood. (Though for my big-eater husband, the portions might have been a bit too small.) Usually when we stay somewhere, there’s an elaborate dinner at the Accommodation, but I get full quickly and prefer drinks over food—so this was absolutely perfect for me. The Room was clean and very comfortable. If I had to say one thing, I’d be happy if I could listen to LAVA’s music selection in the Room as well. (Maybe I could…?) In any case, we were able to enjoy champagne and wine again the next morning; breakfast was very delicious; they even arranged café au lait for us—so we were completely satisfied. We’d love to visit again when our son is away at training camp!

    A Sophisticated Hideaway

    A hidden-gem boutique Hotel in Hakone. As you enter, you’re greeted by a long single-slab bar counter, with a panoramic forest view spreading out behind it. There are also sofa seats arranged around a fireplace. Check-in is at the second-floor lounge. It also features a long counter, and the floor-to-ceiling windows deliver an overwhelming mountain view of Hakone. By chance (or not), it was a day of heavy snowfall, so getting there was tough—but the snowy scenery was stunning, and the welcome champagne made for a perfect start. The guest Room was a studio Room—probably the smallest one. The washbasin and toilet were shared with the neighboring Room, and there was no bath or shower. Still, the interior felt spacious; there’s a line desk by the window as well as a very comfortable sofa area—ideal for solo travelers. There are two large public baths, with men’s and women’s sides switching between night and morning. One has only an indoor bath; the other includes a dry sauna, cold plunge pool, open-air bath, and an outdoor relaxation area. Relaxing outside while taking in the Hakone mountain view is unbeatable. Check-out is at 14:00, and you can use the baths from 6:00 to 13:00 in the morning—so I fully enjoyed some blissful reset time. Except for certain drinks, all beverages are included in the Accommodation rate, so you can enjoy your drinks without hesitation. The first-floor bar stays open until 25:00 (1:00), and the second-floor lounge operates until 27:00 (3:00). One drawback is that there’s quite a difference in quality between the two public baths. Since I spent most of my time at night at the bar—and since daytime views are far better—I’d prefer to choose which one to use myself, but that doesn’t seem possible here. There are private baths as well, so using those might be a good option too.

    About the Studio

    Stayed in a studio Room. The description said there was no washbasin or shower in the Room, but there was no toilet either. The “washbasin” turned out to be the small sink in the toilet, shared between two Rooms, so some people may feel uncomfortable brushing their teeth or washing their face there. Given that the Accommodation rate is not cheap, it was quite surprising to have a shared toilet. Also, the Room is dark and the only mirror is a full-length wall mirror, so doing makeup in the Room is basically impossible. It would be nice to have at least a small makeup mirror on the table. As for loungewear, women are only provided with a one-piece type, so it may be safer to bring your own.

    Hotel Bar Kozan

    A paradise-like Hotel for those who enjoy alcohol I visited just after the New Year. I requested a pick-up at Chokoku no Mori Station. Although I arrived on time according to the train schedule, there was no pick-up waiting for me. I had to wait about 15 minutes in the pitch-dark station area with no shelter from Hakone's cold wind. Apparently, there was information that the mountain railway was delayed, but my train arrived as scheduled. Ideally, they should have been prepared and arrived early. During check-out, several groups of guests who came later were attended to first while I was left waiting (laughs). There seemed to be plenty of staff available... yet they didn’t seem attentive at all. The Hotel itself is wonderful with a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, an open-air bath with great views, and comfortable Rooms. The breakfast was also satisfying; however, I hope the staff can improve their service moving forward. Looking forward to better experiences in the future!

    Stylish Hotel

    I enjoyed listening to various stories at the bar and savoring delicious drinks. The bartenders were highly professional, and their service was excellent. I couldn't help but think that I would have enjoyed it even more if I were 10 years younger. For an elderly couple like us, it felt a bit too stylish, making us feel slightly out of place. We decided that from now on, we might prefer relaxing at an Onsen Ryokan more suited to our age. For younger generations who love alcohol, this place is definitely worth a visit!

    This is my second visit. Both the concept and service are impeccable. For those who enjoy alcohol, you can indulge freely, and for those who prefer non-alcoholic options, there are plenty to enjoy as well. The meals are not lacking in any way; they are thoroughly enjoyable. The bath features a large public bath with an open-air section that alternates between men and women. During my stay, the men's time started at 6 AM, and the combination of sunrise and the open-air bath was fantastic. You can also refresh your swollen body in the sauna, leaving you feeling surprisingly rejuvenated even after a night of drinking. One issue during this stay was the smell (reminiscent of aging) from the room wear provided in the room—it was quite noticeable. The odor extended beyond just the room wear to fill the entire room. I recommend deodorizing both the room wear and rooms themselves for improvement.

    Stylish bar

    The bar lounge was very stylish, with the large windows and rows of drinks creating a wonderful atmosphere. The cocktails were also delicious. However, I was very dissatisfied with other aspects of my stay. The room was too dark, one side of the public bath did not have an open-air bath, and the food menu had limited options. What disappointed me most was the staff's service skills... This seems to align with other low-rated reviews I read as well. On the positive side, the bar staff were excellent and made for a pleasant drinking experience. On my first night, I even found myself checking my calendar to plan my next visit. However, by the time I left on the shuttle service back home, I felt completely dissatisfied due to how it was handled. While I'm grateful for being dropped off, I'd appreciate it if you could reconsider how your shuttle service is managed.

    BAR Hotel Kozan is a treasure box of emotions.

    I had the best night of my life. I sincerely thank all the staff. The advice about the return bus was also very helpful. The bath, meals, drinks, and hospitality were all absolutely perfect. Time flowed gently in a calm space, and I can't wait to share stories about my night at the BAR Hotel with my friends. My only regret is that I wish I could handle alcohol better. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you very much.

    Exceeds expectations and guaranteed to make you return!

    Drawn by the unique concept, I visited for the first time. Initially, I was a bit skeptical about the high reviews, but now I completely understand why everyone praises it so much! I am accustomed to staying at fairly high-level hotels, but this experience exceeded my expectations in a good way. The hospitality was exceptional, and not only the main bar but also the overall atmosphere of the hotel, room quality, and meals were outstanding. This extraordinary experience truly lingers in your mind. Although I'm not a strong drinker, they adjusted the strength of alcoholic beverages for me and offered a wide variety of non-alcoholic cocktails as well. So even those who don't drink alcohol can fully enjoy their time here without any issues. The coffee available from morning to daytime was incredibly delicious and left a lasting impression on me. I appreciated thoughtful touches like women's indoor wear dresses, drawstring bags, thick socks, provided hairdryers—every detail showed great care. Of course, for those who love alcohol, you'll find it hard to waste any time sleeping because there's so much to enjoy! This place is reason enough to visit Hakone again. I will definitely return! Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful birthday.

    A few years ago, a friend visited this place, and I had always wanted to stay here. Finally, for my partner's birthday—who loves alcohol—we were able to make it happen! We were welcomed with champagne and then headed straight to the bar. For the first drink, I had an original cocktail made with coconut water, while he enjoyed a Bowmore 12-year-old soda mix. For the second round, I tried an original cocktail with Tabasco, and he had an Ardbeg 10-year-old whiskey. During this time, they also brought out a birthday plate (with fruits and chocolate) as requested. Since my partner feels shy about grand surprises, they presented it subtly yet elegantly—it created such a wonderful atmosphere for celebrating his birthday. Thank you so much. As for the baths, we used one of the two options—the KAZAN open-air bath—which had pleasantly warm water that allowed us to soak for longer while gazing at greenery and the moon in total relaxation. It was perfect! Next time we stay here, we’d love to try out the private baths as well. After our bath from 8 PM until 1 AM (25:00), we returned to enjoy more time at the bar. The food offerings like katsu sandwiches and sausages were all delicious! The next morning’s champagne brunch was delightful; we could choose between galettes or pho—so we ordered one of each! The pho had a rich broth that paired excellently with champagne. Besides these main dishes, there was also a buffet featuring items like shrimp ravioli or fried eel bites—perfect as small appetizers alongside drinks. Starting our day with champagne made it feel so luxurious. If there’s one suggestion I could make: having hair irons or curlers available in-room would help reduce luggage needs when preparing in the morning. We truly enjoyed such a wonderful birthday celebration here! On our train ride home, my partner mentioned wanting to have drinks by your fireplace next time—so now we're planning on visiting again during winter!

    Wonderful concept, excellent service

    The concept of a bar Hotel is wonderful, and the level of cocktails does not disappoint. The spacious Room and open-air bath were excellent. Having a leisurely champagne brunch the next day with a 2:00 PM checkout is also delightful. If there were even more creativity and sparkle in the wine and bar food, it would be perfect, and I would definitely become a repeat guest. I had a very relaxing stay.

    Preference for branch

    This is my third visit since my first time two years ago. Although I enjoy drinking, I'm not very strong with alcohol, so during my first and second visits, I ended up falling asleep quite early, which was a bit disappointing. This time, I mastered the trick of ordering all drinks diluted and managed to enjoy myself longer without getting too tipsy. I also got to try various foods that caught my attention (especially loved the Caprese and even ordered seconds), and enjoyed the Onsen three times—it was an absolutely fantastic experience again! Every stay here is wonderful; however, I do feel that brunch could be a bit more satisfying as a meal after drinking the night before. It would make me so happy if there were an option for rice and miso soup. Perhaps someday there could be another choice alongside rice noodles—a Japanese set with rice, miso soup, and pickles—I truly hope this becomes available in the future!

    We had a wonderful time!

    I had been wanting to visit ever since I learned about the concept, and finally stayed here with a friend who loves alcohol for my birthday. My expectations were already high, but this experience exceeded them—everything was simply amazing! The hotel has a calm and quiet atmosphere, and the view from both the room and the bar counter was fantastic. I thought it might get noisy at night with everyone drinking, but during my stay, there weren’t many guests, so it remained peaceful, allowing us to enjoy our drinks comfortably. The bath was spacious with plenty of amenities provided, but what I appreciated most was having towels available in the bath area itself—so convenient! It’s been a while since I’ve come across such a wonderful hotel; it truly made me happy! I can’t wait to visit again soon.

    This was my sixth visit. I always enjoy a luxurious and serene time here. However, this time I was a bit disappointed, so I decided to leave a review. Perhaps due to the presence of many new staff members, there was a chaotic atmosphere during check-in, and the lovely music in the smoking room wasn't playing until I requested it. The bathroom had an unpleasant sewage smell, which was unfortunate. While I usually enjoy quiet and relaxing evenings at the bar, this time the bartender and a female guest were speaking and laughing loudly, creating more of an izakaya-like atmosphere than usual. That aside, I still managed to have another wonderful time enjoying great drinks here. I look forward to my next visit and hope for an elegant bar hotel experience as always!

    Simply the best!

    It’s rare for me to give all 5 stars, but this accommodation deserves it without a doubt! I’ve found a place that makes me want to visit again after a long time! Simply put, it was amazing. The staff's attentiveness, the quality of the meals and drinks were truly exceptional! Each dish in the brunch half-buffet was carefully prepared and absolutely delicious! They also accommodated my friend’s allergies with great attention to detail, ensuring all staff were informed so we could enjoy our stay without any worries. I’m filled with gratitude. We talked about wanting to stay in an even better room next time, so I’m planning to book either a better room or a suite for our next visit. I’d also love to try the private bath. There seems to be so much more left to discover here, making it a hotel I’d love to keep coming back to! Thank you very much!

    Perfect for those who love drinking and Onsen.

    I stayed for one night. In conclusion, while it may not suit everyone, as someone who loves both drinks and Onsen, this was the perfect environment for me. The bar, which you can use immediately after check-in, offers a free-flow of various types of alcohol. I enjoyed high-quality drinks that I usually don't get to try and delicious original cocktails. In the lounge, I could make my own drinks with wine or vodka and relax while admiring the natural scenery. The Onsen is located in a stunning natural setting. I used it three times—at 6 PM, 10 PM, and 8 AM—and each time happened to be like having a private session all to myself! It was amazing! For breakfast, although I expected finger food might not be enough, there were more options and portions than anticipated. Plus, a main plate was included for free—this also exceeded my expectations in terms of satisfaction. The Facility is simple with just the bar, Onsen, and lounge; however, its clear concept made it very appealing as well. While minor issues like dim hallways making it slightly difficult to unlock doors or slight drafts from windows in the Onsen caught my attention briefly—they were trivial compared to how much I enjoyed my time here from check-in to check-out with constant access to great drinks and relaxing Onsens! I would love to stay here again!!
