    Stayed overnight for a visit to the grave.

    This is my second stay. It is a quiet and cozy accommodation for adults, and as a book lover, I especially liked the library, which is why I chose it again this time. The meals were well-prepared with local ingredients and served in tasteful dishes, with just the right portions (I have a big appetite). The breakfast potato stew was exceptionally delicious. My baseball-loving husband mentioned, "If only there was BS broadcasting..." Looking forward to staying again next year!

    Stayed for one night...

    Stayed for one night just before the Obon holiday. (Positive points) Although the facility felt a bit old, it seemed to be well-cleaned. The creative dinner dishes were visually appealing and delicious, with tasteful tableware. However, I personally didn’t enjoy the gazpacho soup. A little more creativity in the dessert would have been nice. The staff were polite and pleasant to interact with. (Points for improvement) The greenery in the garden and on the balcony could use a bit more maintenance; first impressions are important. While there was a variety of free drinks available, both vinegar drinks and lemon water were lukewarm, which dulled their flavors. The water bottle provided also leaked water. Lastly, I felt that a 10:00 AM checkout time was too early.

    Accommodation as per the review

    I stayed here during a touring trip. Due to the extreme heat that made it unbearable to stay on my bike, I arrived at the accommodation early, hoping to wait in the lobby. Despite arriving significantly earlier than the check-in time, they kindly allowed me to check in, which was very helpful. While the facility itself doesn't seem brand new, it has been tastefully renovated and is clean. The room had a pleasant tatami scent and was very comfortable. Most notably, the staff's hospitality was exceptional—all of them left a great impression. There were also several solo travelers staying here, so I felt comfortable and at ease throughout my stay. As mentioned in reviews, this is truly an excellent accommodation!

    Accommodation where you can fully enjoy tranquility

    With the recent influx of inbound tourism, many Onsen accommodations in Tohoku have become noisy, but this accommodation was the complete opposite—a place where you can truly enjoy tranquility. Located in a lesser-known Onsen town in Tohoku, it offers a unique charm and could be considered a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, we felt the warm hospitality of the staff, and their attentiveness continued until our departure. I stay at an Onsen accommodation about once a month, and "Mori no Ne" stands out as one of the highest-level accommodations I've experienced. The quality and abundance of the Onsen water were exceptional as expected, and meals featuring delicious Yamagata ingredients added to our enjoyment. The cost-performance was excellent as well, making us eager to plan another visit soon. This is an accommodation worth revisiting across different seasons—it's decided!

    This was the best accommodation I have visited recently.

    I liked it so much that I immediately tried to make my next Reservation, but there were no rooms available on IKYU. I wondered if solo travelers are generally not very welcomed.

    The service is excellent!

    A cozy accommodation with 14 rooms, where the bath was never crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. The meals were satisfying in both quantity and taste, which delighted our family. Above all, the hospitality was excellent; everyone was kind and provided outstanding service. Our entire family is eager to stay here again next time.

    Relax and unwind, transitioning from on to off.

    I have stayed here multiple times, and from the moment I enter, time seems to flow slowly. This time, I started with a delicious welcome cheesecake and enjoyed a relaxing stay. Dinner was as beautiful as always, with the main steak being tender and flavorful. I couldn't resist having seconds of the seasoned rice with Japanese spikenard. Dessert after dinner was delightful while watching the fire in the Western-style hearth at the lounge. The only downsides were that there is no sauna and that the women's bath area felt a bit dim at night. Unfortunately, I always seem to visit when the cherry blossoms outside are not in bloom, but this time I'm determined to come back when they are in full bloom! Thank you for your warm send-off as always—I look forward to staying again for a girls' trip during cherry blossom season!

    It was excellent.

    Stayed for 2 nights with breakfast and dinner included. The hotel was very quiet with a soft, cozy interior design, featuring a lovely concept that made it feel like being in the forest. The meals were delicious and never boring over the two days, and the hospitality through service was truly felt. Enjoying dessert while admiring the view after meals became a wonderful memory. The atmosphere of the hotel was simply outstanding, making it an unforgettable trip.

    Cuisine

    The creative dishes using local vegetables, infused with the essence of German, French, Italian, and Japanese cuisine, were wonderful. I was able to enjoy my meal while reminiscing about the trips I took to those countries when I was younger. The staff's demeanor and the presentation of the dishes, not to mention the taste, are Michelin three-star in my opinion. I hope to find an opportunity to visit during the wild vegetable season.

    The First Sound of the Forest

    I always visit various Stays with the purpose of enjoying Onsen, meals, and relaxing. Although I usually go to a certain Property in Kaminoyama Onsen, I decided to try Mori no Ne, which has a high Review rating, for the first time as part of my exploration. Upon entering the entrance, there was a fireplace, and the atmosphere was lovely, giving a very good first impression of the Property. However, I was disappointed to hear that the outdoor Onsen, which I was most looking forward to, was unavailable due to damage from heavy snow. Hearing this, I felt like going home because I was really looking forward to the winter outdoor Onsen. I wish I had been informed in advance that the outdoor Onsen was unavailable before arriving. The meals were creative dishes inspired by fairy tales, and I found them very delicious. I thought the dishes paired well with wine. Although we are not very fond of wine, we enjoyed the meal, but the portions were small, so it was nice to be able to get extra rice. There are free drinks and snacks in the lounge, but if you want to relax in your Room, you have to take them with you. We felt a bit lacking because we are used to staying at Properties where complimentary drinks are always available in the refrigerator. If you plan to enjoy the atmosphere by the fireplace or in the free space on the second floor, it might be nice. However, with our spirits dampened by the inability to use the outdoor Onsen, we felt that the cost-performance of this stay was high and returned home with a sense of disappointment. Everyone is different, and it is difficult to satisfy all guests.

    Solo travel

    I was satisfied with both the meals and the Onsen. However, the bed was too low, making it difficult to go to the bathroom at night, as I am getting older.

    Time passes slowly.

    The snow-covered cherry blossom trees were beautiful. The food was excellent. Everything was great! I would love to visit again in spring! I was able to relax and enjoy my time. Thank you very much.

    I expected too much.

    It was disappointing that it was dark and cold with no lighting or campfire during both early check-in and late check-out, but the meals were very delicious. This Accommodation is not suitable for a Multiple Night Stay. The daytime common area was also dark and cold. The campfire itself is great, but it burns for a short time, and if you wait for space to open up around it, it is almost out by the time you get there. It was not lit during the day. The complimentary drinks selection was good, but I probably won’t go again.

    It was a comfortable Stays.

    I decided to take a spontaneous solo trip to Kaminoyama Onsen and chose from the available Stays, and it was very comfortable. Being a small-scale Property with only 14 groups, it was nice to use the entire space leisurely. The fireplace in the lobby was soothing. The "Tsuyahime" rice served at dinner and breakfast was so delicious that I couldn't help but have seconds. The water quality was so smooth that at first, I wondered, "Is this really an Onsen?" but I understood that the characteristic of Kaminoyama Onsen is its "lotion-like water." With fewer people, I had the large bath all to myself, which was fantastic. I would love to visit again.

    Excited about creative cuisine

    The entrance's interior and display are stylish, and the sound of the burning logs and flames in the fireplace is soothing. The creative dishes, which tell a story, are unique and I enjoyed them with excitement. I also appreciate the subtle attentiveness of all the staff. At night, it's a hassle to go to the shared space to get hot water, so I thought it would be nice to have a kettle in the Room.

    A wonderful healing space

    Family trips are always hectic, so when I travel alone, I bring plenty of books and take my time to relax. Mori no Ne, where I stayed for the first time, was a wonderful hideaway. The staff maintained a comfortable distance, providing just the right level of service. The public spaces were well-equipped, and the food was delicious, leaving nothing to be desired. As someone who enjoys solo travel, I am very grateful to be able to stay at such a lovely property alone. I took a taxi from Kaminoyama Onsen Station on the way there. On the way back, I took a bus from a nearby bus terminal (a little over a 5-minute walk) to Yamagata Station. It takes a little over 30 minutes to Yamagata Station. I thought it might be a good option for those using public transportation.

    This is my third stay.

    It was a girls' trip with my sister and daughter. Ever since the sign at the entrance changed from the NTT retreat to "Oyado Mori no Ne," I've been curious about it and talked about wanting to stay there someday. The first time we stayed, the free drinks were still a novelty, and the shared space on the second floor was lovely, which captivated us. On our second visit, we were thrilled to see that the facilities had been upgraded. No matter how many times we stay, we are enchanted by the delicious and beautiful food, the fireplace fire that we can watch forever, and the decor of the shared space. The courtyard is also lovely, and all the staff, including those who answer the phone, are warm and welcoming. The only flaw is the bath facilities. The faucet stops after a few seconds when pressed, which is a bit inconvenient. It would be helpful if the water ran a little longer. However, of course, we enjoyed a relaxing time again this time. We are very satisfied. We will definitely visit again.

    I was able to spend a very quiet and relaxing time. The meals, the bath, and the staff's hospitality were all wonderful. The only thing I wish for is that the comfort of the in-house wear could be a little better.

    We used this accommo...

    We used this accommodation for a family trip during the Obon holiday. As it is an adult-oriented inn, we were able to enjoy a quiet and relaxing time. The meals were presented in a story-like manner, and each dish was elaborate and delicious. As mentioned in other reviews, it was inconvenient to have to put drinks in a bottle and bring them to the room. I wish there was at least a tea set in the room.
