    A quiet, relaxing Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

    The Accommodation is pleasantly small, making it convenient to get to the restaurant and the baths. A fireplace welcomes you in both winter and summer. The free space on the second floor is stylish, and the Room is clean and beautiful. The meals are always enjoyable and delicious. For me in my 60s, it’s just the right size, with just the right amount of food—an exceptionally comfortable Accommodation.

    Thank you for upgrading our Room. The moment we stepped inside, we were completely captivated by the quietly glowing hearth and the calming scent of incense. It felt like stepping away from everyday life—exactly what we had been looking for—and our excitement instantly soared. The Room had been renovated while preserving its old-world charm, which made us feel relaxed and at ease. The meals were delightful, with a focus on warmth, aroma, and storytelling. The world really is evolving! The minimal service that gently gave us space was also refined and wonderful. Thank you for such a relaxing stay.

    Blissful Moments

    After the rainy season ended in southern Tohoku, we stayed for 18 hours and enjoyed a truly blissful time. Next time, we would like to stay for two nights instead of one and include some local sightseeing.

    How can a space this...

    How can a space this wonderful be designed? I chose this place simply because I wanted to relax. The staff’s service exceeded the price and I was truly grateful. The only disappointment was the loud voices of other guests, which echoed both in the bathroom and in the lobby.

    We had a truly fulfilling stay.

    The staff’s service and the overall atmosphere were even better than the last time we stayed! Watching the fire in the fireplace… and the outdoor bonfire, like a campfire, was especially memorable. The bath was also very relaxing, and above all, we were able to unwind without worrying about time. Thank you very much.

    Relax and unwind

    We were able to relax and enjoy our time in a small group. The meals were served in a story-like style, making them fun to experience, and every dish was simply delicious. We usually travel as a group of three and visit about two places each year, but the food here was the best!

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay. The staff were very pleasant. The meals were just the right amount for us, and we enjoyed them. Points I noticed: - The large public bath was on the small side, and the only amenity provided was a shower cap. - The smell of smoke from the fireplace was quite noticeable. - I took coffee from the lounge back to my Room, but it felt like it might spill. A larger paper cup or a lid would make it feel safer. - The sink in the Room washbasin area wasn’t very practical; water splashed everywhere. - Also regarding the washbasin area: there is an opening for trash above, but it’s too far from the trash bin installed below, so trash didn’t go into the bin properly.

    This is an Accommodation where I wanted to stay from check-in until right before check-out. All the staff were very kind and helpful. It felt as if time was passing slowly, and I would definitely like to visit again.

    A peaceful accommodation

    A quiet Accommodation where you can relax while viewing cherry blossoms. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious. We also enjoyed some game dishes, which were very tasty with no odor at all. If I had to ask for one thing, there were paper towels in the washroom, but it would have been nice to have a face towel for drying your face.

    Disappointed

    I chose to stay here (solo trip) because it seemed popular with female guests and had good Reviews, but honestly I was disappointed. (I didn’t notice at night because it was dim,) but in the morning light, the paper (fusuma paper?) on the Room fittings looked dirty and worn, and rust on the fence outside the restaurant window really stood out. Dinner was said to be “story-driven,” but the red bell pepper mousse had far too much raspberry sauce, making it unclear what was meant to be the main element; there was a cold soup even though it was still a chilly season; the sauces and dressings tasted monotonous as if they were store-bought; the game meat had no real flavor; and for the main steak, every side dish was cold. It seemed like everything had been plated in advance and then brought out with the steak. Cold vegetables, mashed potatoes that had cooled and set, and meat where the fat overpowered everything. Breakfast consisted of various side dishes served on a divided plate. As expected, both the grilled fish and omelet were cold. What I did enjoy were: the mixed rice at dinner, and at breakfast, the rice, blanched greens in broth/soy sauce dressing, and pickles. There’s a fireplace right after you enter so the atmosphere is nice, but… overall it ended up being a disappointing stay.

    Healing Accommodation

    I visit a few times a year, and it’s an Accommodation that always makes me want to come back as I’m leaving. I spend relaxing, unhurried time here, sipping a drink while listening to the crackle of the firewood. It’s a cozy, soothing Accommodation.

    Relax by the wood-burning fireplace

    The wood-burning fireplace was incredibly soothing, and the scent of the wood was unforgettable. If possible—though I know it may be difficult—I would have loved for the fire to be kept going a bit later. As for the baths, only one side has an open-air bath, and I also wished bathing hours were extended a little later into the night. Despite having 14 rooms, the timing and consideration were excellent, allowing for a quiet stay. The complimentary coffee drink service was delicious. The meals were outstanding in both quality and portion size. I also truly appreciated the thoughtful birthday gesture. I would definitely love to visit again.

    There is a campfire ...

    There is a campfire right by the entrance, where you can enjoy a beer while watching the flickering flames and snowy scenery. The bath temperature was just right, and both dinner and breakfast offered a story-like dining experience—making this Accommodation truly relaxing. The hospitality was excellent as well, and we will definitely return.

    Unfortunately.

    The Room, amenities, and food were all excellent, but the service was disappointing. Because I wanted to catch the morning bus from the station to Zao the next day, I asked at dinner how to Reserve a taxi for the following morning and was told it would be fine if I spoke with the front desk. After returning to my Room, I called the front desk and requested a taxi for the next morning, but an older man said: “At this hour it’s already impossible. Reserve it at the front desk in the morning—allow plenty of time and book it so that your pickup arrives about 20–30 minutes before your desired arrival time.” As instructed, I tried to make a Reservation at the front desk in the morning, but no staff were there. When someone finally arrived, I asked again; however, since it took less than 10 minutes from the station to this Accommodation when we arrived, after breakfast I requested a Change of pickup time to something later (in fact we reached the station in just over 5 minutes). I understand having breakfast in time slots, but setting each slot at around 45 minutes doesn’t allow guests to relax or enjoy their meal. While traveling especially, I want to take my time (the food was delicious, which made this even more disappointing). At dinner as well, we were made to read an awkward picture-story-style explanation on paper, and even when trying to call staff they rarely appeared. An Accommodation where you can’t relax is not enjoyable.

    In May 2023, I visited for the first time on a solo trip and stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of 3 nights. The warm yet discreet service from the staff, delicious meals, and the relaxing atmosphere throughout the Accommodation were so pleasant that I wanted to return during another season. This time in December, with snowy and rainy weather, I stayed again for a Multiple Night Stay of 3 nights without stepping outside. The Accommodation offers plenty of cozy spaces to relax not only in the guest rooms but also throughout the facility, making it feel like there wasn’t enough time to enjoy everything. Although lunch is not provided, the breakfast is hearty enough that it wasn’t an issue for me. Additionally, being able to enjoy complimentary drinks at the lounge starting from 3 PM was a delightful bonus. This is an Accommodation where staying just one night feels insufficient—I highly recommend a Multiple Night Stay. Thank you once again for providing such wonderful moments.

    The staff were generally young and enthusiastic, which was very apparent! I felt there is great potential for growth in the future. For example, as a Diamond member, I appreciated receiving wine; however, it would have been more convenient if it had been given during dinner the night before or placed in the Room rather than handed at checkout (after packing my suitcase). Carrying a bottle while traveling isn't ideal, and reopening my suitcase at the front desk was inconvenient. Since this was a solo trip for me, it wasn't much of an issue this time. However, such thoughtful considerations would make your establishment a reliable choice for important occasions like dates where one wouldn't want to risk any mishaps. As things stand now—including the atmosphere of the free space—I personally feel it's more suited for having fun with female friends rather than romantic settings. The free space felt slightly cold; offering blankets would be appreciated. That said, everyone greeted me with warm smiles and made my stay relaxing and comfortable—thank you so much! The meals were also delicious! The wine pairing was excellent too. Waking up to snowy scenery and enjoying breakfast by large windows made for a truly wonderful experience.

    I had a very relaxing time.

    Although located near the main road, this accommodation is tucked away slightly, offering a peaceful and relaxing stay away from the noise. Since only adults were staying, it was very quiet. Drinks (including alcohol) were available in the lobby, so even without a shop on-site, there was no inconvenience. One point to note: perhaps due to renovations at the accommodation, locking the room door felt a bit difficult (likely due to the position of the lock). That said, I would love to visit again if given the chance.

    This is an accommodation where you can enjoy a campfire and stay every year. The interior is very clean and offers a wonderful atmosphere.     I want to visit again next season!

    We stayed at this accommodation for his birthday trip. As the name suggests, it is a serene space surrounded by a small forest, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease. The most memorable experience was the nighttime campfire. Spending time watching the flickering flames was truly special. However, indoors there was a bit too much smoke, which was slightly bothersome. Still, the atmosphere itself was wonderful and allowed us to have meaningful conversations together in a relaxed setting. The onsen was excellent as well; both the indoor bath and open-air bath had perfectly warm water that felt gentle on the skin. The facilities were impeccably clean and inviting, making us want to visit multiple times (and we did!). It was also enjoyable to experience different atmospheres in the large baths during morning and evening hours. Dinner featured carefully prepared dishes incorporating Yamagata's seasonal ingredients with stories behind each one. Both visually appealing and delicious, it provided high satisfaction as we enjoyed guessing what would come next while saying things like "This is interesting! So tasty!" together throughout our meal. Breakfast offered an abundant variety of healthy options that allowed us to savor everything leisurely while enjoying a calm morning atmosphere. The staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness for us who wanted to quietly enjoy this birthday trip—it suited us perfectly! Although it was only one night’s stay—thank you so much! With changing seasons promising different scenery every time—we’ve decided our next visit will be during winter!

    It was very comfortable, and I had a relaxing and satisfying stay.

    I stayed with my 93-year-old mother and a friend to celebrate her birthday. Thanks to the upgrade to a Junior Suite, we were able to enjoy a very spacious and comfortable stay, which made my mother very happy. The staff were all kind and even prepared a birthday plate for her. The meals had wonderful stories and presentations that made our conversations lively. My mother, who usually prefers Japanese cuisine during our stays, was delighted and said, "This is nice too." Instead of yukata, there were samue outfits provided, which ensured my mother's safety as she moved around comfortably. I enjoyed sipping free drinks by the bonfire while gazing at the night sky—it was an incredibly relaxing experience! My friend spent time reading quietly in the free space on the second floor. It was truly an accommodation where we could escape from daily life and feel refreshed surrounded by the warmth of wood and nature. Thank you so much!

    Everything is satisfactory.

    A long-awaited trip for two with my wife. The plan we chose was a pairing of Kaminoyama red and white wine with creative forest-inspired cuisine. My wife, who usually enjoys relaxing in the Room, seemed to love the atmosphere of both the first and second-floor lobbies, especially the fireplace. She spent all her time there except for bathing, dining, and sleeping. For dinner, we enjoyed a leisurely course meal paired with wine that complemented each dish perfectly—it was truly satisfying. However, the highlight of this stay was undoubtedly the luxury of spending time gazing at the flickering flames of the fire. The Hotel provided a serene space where only the sound of crackling fire could be heard throughout its premises, allowing us to relax completely. From check-in to check-out, everything from service to meals, guest rooms to lobby ambiance exceeded our expectations. Thank you very much!

    Respect for the Elderly

    I had a relaxing stay. The meals were entertaining and made for an enjoyable time. There was a great variety of drinks, and I appreciated being able to choose ones that paired well with the food. It might have been due to how busy it was, but my dinner seat was close to the kitchen, so the noise from there was noticeable. Some soundproofing would have been nice.     Treat yourself to a little luxury at this inn.

    I stayed at "Oyado Mori no Ne" for my first trip to Kaminoyama. Since I had always wanted to visit Kaminoyama, I chose this accommodation as a little treat for myself. Being able to enjoy a bonfire both indoors and outdoors under the starry sky was absolutely wonderful! What stood out the most was that it was a new type of accommodation with thoughtful hospitality, unlike traditional accommodations with excessive service. The balance of maintaining just the right distance made it perfect for those who value their personal time. That said, they were not neglectful; they worked diligently behind the scenes (for example, adding firewood when the bonfire weakened or replenishing free drinks and alcohol). As for meals, opinions may vary, but personally, I felt there were too many dishes served at breakfast. Since the rice and miso soup were so delicious that I went back for seconds, reducing 1-2 dishes would still be more than sufficient. The portion sizes of each dish were just right. Lastly, I appreciated when one of the staff offered to take my photo. Traveling alone often means not having many pictures of yourself—thanks to them, I now have a great photo with me in it!

    This year marks the third consecutive year of traveling to Tohoku. Wanting to try an accommodation I hadn't stayed at before, I made a reservation here. The interior was simple yet tasteful, with a warm wooden ambiance that was incredibly soothing! The complimentary drinks in the lounge were also a delightful touch. (The space on the second floor was lovely as well.) Every meal exceeded expectations and was absolutely delicious. The game dish served at dinner stood out, especially the sauce—it was so good that my middle school daughter begged me to ask for the recipe! When we were told we could enjoy dessert in the garden, we decided to relax outside on some chairs after filling up and sobering up a bit. A female staff member kindly brought out our desserts, and to my surprise, there was an adorable birthday message included! While I had written down my birthday during check-in, I hadn’t mentioned it otherwise since it wasn’t quite yet my birthday—this unexpected gesture truly moved me. It turns out that this staff member’s mother shares the same birthday as me; even this small conversation brought so much joy. Additionally, when I accidentally stepped into the garden wearing indoor slippers by mistake, a male staff member quietly placed outdoor slippers nearby without saying anything or scolding me—this subtle act of kindness left such an impression. Most of the staff seemed young but maintained just the right level of attentiveness in their service, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. If I visit Yamagata again someday, I would love to return here. Thank you for creating such memorable moments!

    It was a very nice inn.

    Perfect for solo travelers seeking relaxation away from work and daily chores, this accommodation provided a truly peaceful experience! The meals were delicious and just the right amount. While the rice and miso soup were excellent, I especially enjoyed the gratin dauphinois. The Yamagata beef was a bit too fatty for my taste. The bath facilities are simple with minimal amenities, so if you're expecting an Onsen Ryokan experience, you might be disappointed. However, it felt like unnecessary services were intentionally minimized to keep prices reasonable. The fireplace and drink service were much appreciated, and with fewer guest rooms, the atmosphere was calm and very comfortable. For this price range, it’s incredibly reasonable. I walked from Kaminoyama Onsen Station to get there (it’s quite a walk), but on my way back I took a direct bus from a nearby stop to Yamagata City for some sightseeing. The staff members were all very pleasant and made my stay enjoyable. It was such a wonderful accommodation that I’d love to visit again! Thank you!

    Stayed overnight for a visit to the grave.

    This is my second stay. It is a quiet and cozy accommodation for adults, and as a book lover, I especially liked the library, which is why I chose it again this time. The meals were well-prepared with local ingredients and served in tasteful dishes, with just the right portions (I have a big appetite). The breakfast potato stew was exceptionally delicious. My baseball-loving husband mentioned, "If only there was BS broadcasting..." Looking forward to staying again next year!
