    Stressful Meals

    The server's manners were poor. They tried to clear plates before we finished eating, touched dishes while we were still dining, served cold soup without concern, made two order mistakes, and attempted to excuse their errors by saying they wouldn't charge us—this level of service lacked any sense of hospitality. Additionally, when we asked about the ingredients in the dishes provided, the response was simply "Please check the menu," which was shocking. We had previously noticed a decline in quality at another facility within this group every time we stayed there. This time, we decided to give it another chance but have now resolved never to stay with this group again. I visited hoping to cheer up my ill wife but left deeply disappointed. I believe many others may share similar experiences. Furthermore, there was no greeting upon entering the restaurant and no one saw us off when leaving either.

    The worst accommodation, comparable to a haunted house, with misleading photos.

    I have stayed at countless accommodations through IKYU, but I have never written a review before. However, even after returning home, the unpleasant feelings from this stay remain unchanged. I feel compelled to share these facts. First of all, the bed in the room had a terrible smell—like urine. The corners of the room also reeked of dog urine. Next, regarding the bathroom attached to the room: The floorboards were blackened and crawling with ants everywhere. The walls were warped as well. The photos posted by the hotel are completely different from reality! This is undoubtedly photo fraud—I am attaching photos for reference. The shower hose was covered in mold; it was so disgusting that it made me feel like throwing up my meal. Having stayed at many hotels, ryokans, and vacation rentals with my pet dog before, this was by far the lowest standard I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t fit for humans—it felt like accommodation meant for livestock. Additionally, during dinner service: The drinks we ordered were wrong not once or twice but three or four times! On top of that, during checkout they insisted on processing payment without showing us an itemized bill first. When I finally checked it myself later because something seemed off about the amount charged—sure enough—it was incorrect! Shouldn’t a hotel show you an invoice before finalizing payment? Their service level cannot be called that of a proper hotel; honestly speaking—it’s below even basic homestay standards. If you’re traveling with pets—do not stay here unless you want to regret your decision! And yet—for one night including meals—the cost is 120–130 thousand yen! Had I known how low-level this accommodation would be—I wouldn’t stay here even if invited for free. Please think carefully and don’t let yourselves be deceived!

    There is quite a bit of variation.

    Upon arrival, all Diamond benefits were completely forgotten, and the fruit did not arrive unless we asked. Disappointing. The bath was great, but the Room had cobwebs at the entrance and in the living area, which put me off.. The bath was great. As for dining, drinks sometimes didn’t come when we wanted them, so the service wasn’t consistently smooth. In the morning, we were told something like “Have you already drunk it?”—I’ve stayed at many luxury Ryokan, and I was honestly shocked by the way they spoke to us. If the response had been smoother, we could have felt at ease; however, values differ from person to person, so opinions may vary. Even with proper training, people’s awareness differs depending on their upbringing and living environment; if you haven’t properly learned it first of all, I would like you to stop using language that you shouldn’t be putting out there. It’s unpleasant.

    For the first time in 7 years

    We stayed as a couple. Since it was right after a long holiday, the spacious hotel was almost like having it all to ourselves! We didn’t encounter any other guests, so we were able to relax completely. The open-air bath on the first floor was always available for private use whenever we went. The room was comfortable, but it would have been nice if there were amenities like men’s hair tonic or aftershave lotion in the room. With both samue and pajamas provided, changing into pajamas made my body feel more relaxed and I slept well. The meals were delicious as always, just like our previous visit. However, I recall there being three types of juice at breakfast last time; this time there was only milk and tomato juice, which was a bit disappointing. There was a coffee mill and coffee beans in the room, so I brewed some myself to try it out. It had a deep roast with not just bitterness but also richness that I really enjoyed; however, at the restaurant or lounge where they use machines instead of hand-brewing methods, the flavor leaned heavily towards bitterness alone. If it's using the same beans as in-room coffee supplies, their quality isn’t fully utilized by machine brewing—perhaps switching over even simple drip-style makers could improve things significantly! Lastly: Nighttime ramen delivered free-of-charge until 10:30 PM directly into our accommodation proved perfectly portioned & deliciously satisfying too!

    The machine was extremely noisy.

    The sound of pumping Onsen water, perhaps? It was extremely noisy, felt like being in a machine room (though I've never been in one). I wonder if there have been no complaints about this before. Even with the windows closed, the noise was audible, and it was quite frustrating after a long time.

    Regarding Service Quality

    Thank you for your continued patronage. This time, unlike before, there was no direct interaction with the chef. At breakfast, the salad and dessert were already set up before entering the room, leaving us wondering when they had been prepared. Additionally, there was no send-off at check-out, which left us feeling a bit lonely.

    This was my first time using the service, and I was very pleased with the kind and attentive support. The French course dinner was great, but I thought it would have been better if we could choose between Japanese or Western-style breakfast in the morning. The Shuttle Service was much appreciated, but since the station is far away, it seems difficult to explore nearby areas without a private car. Still, it was a wonderful and memorable experience.     First Trip with Your Dog

    This was our first trip with our dog, and we were a bit anxious, but the room was perfectly equipped for our dog, allowing us to relax as if we were at home. The meals used plenty of seasonal ingredients, letting us feel the essence of spring and enjoy a very delicious dining experience. The hotel staff were extremely kind, and we would love to stay here again. Thank you for taking care of us during this stay.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    As Christmas was approaching, I stayed here where dinner was a French course. The dishes, which abundantly used local ingredients, were all elaborate and very delicious. I was also able to thoroughly enjoy the cypress bath in the room. Additionally, I heard that the rooftop open-air bath of the neighboring facility could be used, so I visited. The staff kindly made prior arrangements and offered to lend coats, showcasing their excellent hospitality. The next morning, I was able to see the first snow of the year, making it a great trip to conclude the year.

    The staff treated us with great courtesy from check-in to check-out. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious, and we were able to relax in the Onsen. It was a wonderful Stays that we would like to visit again.

    I was able to relax.

    The women's amenities were well-stocked and excellent. Makeup remover, face wash, toner, and moisturizer were all from the DHC line, and there was a hair iron in the room. The service was casual, and all the staff provided warm hospitality. The onsen in the room was nice, but the shared baths for men and women were so small that they felt full with just 2 or 3 people, making it awkward to share with strangers. The restaurant had a semi-private setting, providing a sense of privacy, and it was nice that the bread was homemade and freshly baked. However, the food was often cold during both dinner and breakfast, and the meat at dinner was tough and couldn't be cut even with a knife. It was disappointing.

    It was a property I ...

    It was a property I had been interested in for a long time. The room layout was spacious, and the water in the room bath was smooth. I enjoyed the large public bath of the neighboring hotel and the open-air bath of the property. Due to the time of late October, the wind blowing down from the mountains made the open-air bath on the top floor of the large public bath feel a bit cool, but it was nice to watch the sunset. I used the open-air bath of the property early in the morning and was able to relax while gazing at the first star. For dinner, I chose Japanese cuisine at the hotel and enjoyed the tastes of autumn. The chestnut rice ball for a late-night snack was delicious. The property's restaurant offers Italian cuisine, which I would like to choose next time. One concern was that there were damaged floorboards in the room bath, so I was careful while bathing. It should not lead to injuries on the soles of the feet. I was able to relax and heal my tired body, thank you very much.

    We highly recommend it to everyone!

    After arriving at the Hotel, we were guided to our Room and relaxed in the bath inside the Room before heading to dinner. We were able to spend a leisurely time. In the morning, after breakfast, we were able to relax with my husband in the indoor bath. We were able to enjoy the wine bottle from dinner in our Room, thank you for your consideration.

    Visit after a long time

    Was it before the pandemic that we last visited? We had a nostalgic and relaxing time. I should have specified the doneness of the beef. The surroundings have some good news and felt fresh, but the starry sky was as beautiful as ever.

    The autumn leaves were beautiful.

    This is my second visit. This time, I chose the autumn foliage season and was blessed with good weather, allowing me to enjoy the autumn leaves in the property's courtyard and the surrounding mountains. The food is very elaborate and delicious, but this time it took a little while to be served. For example, I arrived at the dinner venue at 5:30 PM, and the first dish was served at 5:48 PM. For the first time, I used the large public bath on the 7th floor of the separate building. It's a bit of a walk, but the facility is excellent, and the onsen temperature seemed to be well managed. The shuttle service staff from the station was kind and knowledgeable about local information, making for an enjoyable time. I would love to visit again in another season.

    Delicious French Dinner

    The French cuisine for dinner, including the bread, is delicious and among the best I've had in a hotel French dinner course. The private Onsen baths in each room are also comfortable. The shared baths being gender-separated and limited to two people is inconvenient for couples and families; it would be better if they could be used as private baths. The large public bath on the top floor of the adjacent "Mori no Kaze" is very satisfying with its view and variety of baths.

    Satisfied with delicious meals

    Dinner in the private room was delightful, and breakfast was also very delicious, making for a very satisfying stay. We are grateful for the thoughtful gesture in celebrating our anniversary stay. However, it was a bit disappointing to hear footsteps from the upper floor in the morning.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time.

    I visited with my elderly mother, so I requested a chair for the elderly in the bathroom in advance. They kindly provided a chair in the bathtub as well, allowing her to soak comfortably. Although it might be challenging since it's not only for elderly use, having a handrail would provide more security. It seems she was afraid of slipping when moving from the shower to the bathtub. Each dish was explained to us, allowing us to enjoy the meal visually as well. In the morning, we had the wonderful experience of waking up to the sound of birds. I would like to visit again in the spring.

    Wonderful.

    I thought the staff's hospitality was wonderful. The natural hot spring water in the Room was at just the right temperature and revitalized my body. It was excellent. The French full course was all delicious. The presentation was visually enjoyable. I discovered new flavors with the amuse-bouche and dessert. The soup and main dishes had an elegant taste and were delicious. The meat was tender. The bread is baked at the Hotel, so it was warm and tasty. The types of bread for breakfast and dinner were different, so I enjoyed the variety of flavors. The milk at breakfast was so delicious that I had seconds. This is a Hotel I want to stay at again. Everything was a blissful moment. Thank you to the staff for their heartfelt service and thoughtfulness. I had a very good time.

    During the three-day weekend in autumn,

    Stayed with my wife during the three-day weekend. The meals in the morning and evening were very delicious, and the service was courteous, allowing us to relax. The large public bath in the annex was nice, but I was very satisfied with having the indoor bath all to myself.

    Overall, I was satisfied. The Onsen was particularly wonderful, and having visited various Onsen locations during my travels, it was top-class. The Room was clean, but I felt there was a lack of attention to detail in terms of facilities. There was no space to open a suitcase, there were few places to put towels in the bathroom, and the usability of the safe was not great. The meals were very delicious. I especially liked the use of local vegetables in the French cuisine and the effort to highlight the five tastes and umami. What was disappointing was that the lemon for changing the taste of the salmon dish was placed in a spot where it was easily forgotten, and the steak was made from round meat, which made me concerned about the texture being tough. As expected, my wife said her meat was tough and hard to chew. The room temperature was slightly high, so I ordered ice with the last drink, but the dessert was unexpectedly a frozen dessert despite the season. I think these are all things that can be improved with some effort. The service was earnest and left a generally good impression, but I felt there was quite a variation in the level depending on the person. In any case, I felt like I would like to visit again.
