    We had a relaxing stay.

    This was Regina’s third stay, including other properties. Overall, the Facility is almost perfect as a place to spend time with dogs, but the only thing that bothered me this time was the unclear guidance from the staff member directing guests outside. When we arrived, we were guided to the entrance, but they neither helped unload our luggage from the trunk nor told us to do it ourselves, which irritated me right from the start. When driving out and pulling onto the main road, there were kind staff members who checked left and right for us, but there were also staff members who acted as if they didn’t notice us, which stood out. Also unrelated, but when entering the Hotel from the main road, the sign was small and hard for me to spot.

    Your Dog’s First Resort Hotel Experience

    As our dog entered its ninth month, we stayed at a Resort Hotel for the first time, and it was a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed by dog-loving staff. We stayed in a Garden Moderate Room on the first floor, and everything was thoughtfully prepared—not only the Facility and private dog run, but also detailed amenities for dogs. The Room was clean and comfortable with considerate touches for owners as well, and we were very satisfied with the delicious meals. After breakfast, we could take a walk to nearby Kumoba Pond before check-out, so the location is great too. Since Regina Resort seems to have locations in various areas, we’d like to visit not only Karuizawa but other destinations as well. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality.

    We stayed for one night and two days with my daughter and our dog. It was our first trip with a pet, so we were a bit nervous, but we were completely satisfied with everything—the service, the Facility, and the cleanliness. This is a Hotel that makes us want to stay again!!

    This was our first stay at Regina, and we were very satisfied with every aspect—its luxurious building, service, Facility, and meals—making for a comfortable visit. The location is also very convenient, close to Kumoba Pond and the town center. Although we unexpectedly could not bring our dog this time, we would definitely like to visit again with our dog next time.

    We stayed with our dog and our family of three. The Facility was very clean, and the hospitality was excellent, so we had a comfortable stay. The kaiseki cuisine was wonderful, and even our picky son was able to overcome his reluctance to try several ingredients he had avoided. We would love to stay again.

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay in two years. We alternate between Regina Mikage Yosui and Old Karuizawa. Once you experience how comfortable Regina is, it’s hard to stay anywhere else. What I appreciated again this time was how clean and comfortable the Room was. The bath was also spacious, and even though it wasn’t an Onsen, we were able to relax thoroughly. Having a sink in the Room was convenient as well—it worked like a small kitchen counter. I also felt it was very hygienic that there is a place to dispose of pet waste outside each Room. The location is truly excellent. It’s convenient for sightseeing, but my favorite is the walking route to Kumoba Pond. You can stroll leisurely with your dog through a quiet villa area full of greenery. This time, I realized Maruyama Coffee’s main store is close by and walked there too. Since dining out often ends up being Western food, it’s nice to have Japanese cuisine here—it feels light and refreshing. Everything we ate was delicious, but since the meat dish was served as a hot pot, I did wonder briefly, “In summer?” Maybe because Karuizawa stays cool. Above all, I love the simple, chic interior design throughout the building and in the Room. The fact that you can relax as if you were at home may be why we keep coming back.

    The Accommodation wa...

    The Accommodation was clean overall, and the dog-friendly hospitality and services were very appealing. It was also nice that there were birthday perks, which made us want to come back. The walking route to Kumoba Pond was also a great distance. Because of the Room layout, the crate was far from the bed area, and our dog seemed anxious at night.

    A mysterious space!

    I stayed here again for the first time in five years. The Room hadn’t changed at all, yet I could relax in a way that felt almost surprising, and I was very satisfied. The meals impressed me five years ago, but this time they were just average. Next time, I would probably book without meals.

    A Hotel Where You Can Dine with Your Dog

    This is a rare Accommodation where you can stay with your dog. It’s a shame there is no Onsen or large public bath, but we really loved being able to enjoy Japanese cuisine made with seasonal ingredients together with our dog. You can also rent bicycles unique to Karuizawa at the Hotel. They come with a basket that can carry your dog, and we enjoyed a very comfortable ride. As the number of electric-assist bikes is limited, we recommend making a Reservation early. We would like to stay here again when we visit Karuizawa.

    It was excellent.

    The Accommodation was in a great location, very clean, and beautifully maintained. They also prepared a bed guard for our 0-year-old child, which was a big help. Not only is it truly dog-first, but the meals were delicious, and the greenery visible from the Room was soothing—we had a wonderful time. We’d love to visit again!

    Large dogs (such as Akitas) are welcome to stay.

    During this year’s Golden Week, we stayed for one night in a Room with a private dog run on our first trip traveling with our dog. Just as the Reviews said, it truly was a resort where you can relax with your pet in a luxurious space without stress. On this trip, we stayed at this resort on the first night and had a Multiple Night Stay at a different Hotel for the second and third nights. What stood out most was how different “a resort designed from the start for spending time with pets” is from “an Accommodation that simply allows pets.” The level of stress is completely different. I highly recommend Regina Resort. We have an Akita (a large breed), so I’d like to share what we liked and what we noticed from the perspective of guests traveling with a large dog. Points to note I wish each parking space—and the parking area overall—had a bit more room. Since guests traveling with large dogs often have larger vehicles too, maneuvering, and getting the dog and luggage in and out can be somewhat difficult. What we liked From the entrance right next to the front desk, you can quickly access the attached dog run, so even dogs tired from travel can relax immediately after check-in. They also provide pet sheets and waste bags, so you can use them right away without even unpacking. I was worried about bringing our dog to dinner (and whether he might bark), but perhaps because they considered that he is a large breed, they seated us in a spacious table area at the very back. Thanks to that arrangement, we could position our dog at an angle where he couldn’t easily see other dogs, allowing both people and pets to enjoy dinner calmly. We’re very grateful. Also, I was impressed by their thoughtful touch at breakfast the next morning—they set everything up in the same arrangement as the day before without us having to ask. Finally, every dish was delicious, and the paired drinks were excellent as well—I ended up ordering another round. If you enjoy alcohol, I recommend trying their pairing. It’s such a popular resort that making a Reservation may be difficult, but I would definitely like to stay again.

    Enjoyable Trip

    We stayed for two nights and three days. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, but there were breaks in the rain, so we were able to do everything we had planned! Our dog’s walks ended up being a bit shorter because of the rain, but this Hotel is truly dog-first, so we could be together even during meals, which was wonderful. The meals didn’t overlap on either day, and we really enjoyed a full variety of Japanese cuisine—everything was delicious! We’d definitely love to stay again if we have the chance.

    Our stay exceeded our expectations!

    The meals were delicious, and we were able to spend a relaxing time. The staff were pleasant and attentive, making it a wonderful stay that left us feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. This was our third time staying at a Regina Resort Facility, and among them, we felt this one was the best. It was a wonderful Hotel that made us want to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Your First Karuizawa Stay of the Year

    The rain forecast thankfully didn’t come true, and we were blessed with great weather during our stay. Located in Izumi-no-Sato at Hanareyama, this is a long-established villa area I’ve been familiar with since childhood—quiet and relaxing, and perfect for walking our dog. It reminded me again this time how delicious the dinner is. Not only the upgraded ingredients, but also the rhythm of the menu and recipes, and the beauty of the presentation. Thanks to that, it was a highly satisfying dinner. And what I notice every time is how excellent the bathroom facilities are. A large bath where you can truly unwind, double sinks, and a temporary water-stop function—an eco-friendly system we really appreciate. So we’ll be back again soon.

    Recommended for stays with pets.

    It felt as if guests are expected to travel with pets (dogs), and the Facility and staff were genuinely pet-friendly. As long as your dog has no dietary restrictions, you only need to bring pet food—there’s no need to worry even if you arrive empty-handed. A pet cart was also provided beside the table, so we could enjoy our meal together at the same height. As a personal suggestion, it might have been an even better experience if, when ordering drinks, staff offered something like, “Would you like me to take a photo with your phone for the toast?” so guests could have a memorable picture. Also, if there were a dog run that could be enjoyed even on rainy days, it could encourage more interaction with other guests and add extra value for some visitors.

    This was my first time in Karuizawa, and I was very satisfied.

    It’s a new and very clean Hotel. We enjoyed both the kaiseki dinner and the Japanese set breakfast. We stayed with two small dogs, and their meals also seemed very tasty—they finished everything in no time. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made our stay very comfortable. Dinner was offered in two time slots, and because it was fully booked we ended up with a late seating, which was a bit disappointing. 7:30 p.m. feels like a late time for younger guests. We weren’t specifically looking for an Onsen this time, but the bath had a large tub and was very relaxing. Unlike at home, we had plenty of time to spend with our dogs, which was truly wonderful.

    The location, overall cleanliness of the Accommodation, and quality of the meals were all very satisfying. However, perhaps because we stayed in April, there were many new staff members and some aspects of the service were not as attentive as expected, which was disappointing.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    The cuisine was outstanding. Dinner was extremely satisfying, and we could truly appreciate the chef’s dedication as well as seasonal flavors. The staff provided courteous service. It’s also conveniently located near Old Karuizawa Ginza Street and the outlet mall, making it easy to get around. We would love to stay again.

    A Comfortable Stay

    This was our first stay at Regina Resort. All the staff were courteous, and both the property and our room were kept very clean, making it a very comfortable stay. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious and highly satisfying. It has become an Accommodation we would like to visit again. The location is also convenient, and although it rained throughout our stay this time, we would like to go cycling next time.

    My dog’s favorite place!

    We stay here a few times a year. Our Jack Russell absolutely loves this place. We usually walk from Karuizawa Station, but he tries to sprint the whole way—he probably thinks it’s his own vacation home... This time we stayed in a Deluxe Room, and for two adults and one medium-sized dog, the Room was spacious enough to play with toys or relax on the sofa. It’s easy to truly unwind with your dog. Our Room was on the first floor with access to a dog run. It’s compact, but perfect for giving your dog a quick change of pace. The meals are always delicious, with carefully selected ingredients and beautiful presentation that reflects the season. We also love the wide selection of wine and sake. They offer an extensive dog menu as well—beef, tuna, Shinshu salmon, and more—so even on a Multiple Night Stay, foodie dogs won’t get bored. The meals come with human-grade vegetables too, which feels reassuring for sensitive stomachs. Our dog is 11 and has a delicate stomach, but he does great here. We also appreciate the amenities like makeup remover and bath salts. The bathtub is large enough to fully stretch out and relax; having an Onsen would be even better. The bed is clean, there’s an air purifier in the Room, and even with pollen and house dust allergies I can sleep comfortably. This level of cleanliness in a pet-friendly Hotel is exceptional compared to other Facility options—I’m impressed every time. The staff’s cleaning standards are truly outstanding. It was sunny this trip, but Karuizawa can get sudden rain showers. They have plenty of DVDs available to borrow as well, which is great—and their selection includes many titles that dog lovers would enjoy. This time there were many trainees (it being spring), so meal service and checkout took longer than usual, but it wasn’t a major issue. The staff are always kind and welcome our dog as family members too—it makes us want to cheer them on. Five stars from our Jack Russell as well. If I had one small wish as a human: I’d love a little welcome sweet treat with my coffee too (our dog receives wonderful treats). Please keep up this level of service going forward. For our dog’s safety and comfort we wouldn’t mind paying more—we truly hope this Hotel will be around for years to come.

    I like Regina.

    I have stayed at Regina properties in Izu Muryou, Kamogawa, and Sengokuhara, and everything has been excellent everywhere—service, staff hospitality, and meals. However, one thing stood out: this location did not provide samue loungewear, which was available at the other Regina properties I have stayed at. I hope this can be standardized across all Regina locations.\n\nMy goal is to stay at every Regina Accommodation. Next, I plan to visit Fuji Suites & Spa.

    First stay at Regina!

    This was our first stay at Regina Kyu-Karuizawa. We have stayed at several pet-friendly hotels, but this was the first time we felt this relaxed and both our dog and we were completely satisfied. At most places, even if dogs are allowed to stay, they usually can’t walk in the corridors or lobby, and they often have to wait in the Room during meals. At Regina Kyu-Karuizawa there were no such restrictions, and everything—from the staff’s hospitality to the Room quality, amenities, massage services, and dining—was excellent. The beds, sofa, and even the souvenirs were carefully selected, and we truly felt refreshed at a very high level. We will definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

    We were extremely satisfied!

    We were worried as it was our first stay with our dog, but we were very satisfied. The Room had everything we needed, including dog amenities and a crate. All the staff were very kind to both our child and our dog, which we truly appreciated. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.

    Second stay

    Three years ago, we stayed at Regina on our first trip after getting a dog, also to celebrate each of our children’s graduations. We were truly impressed at how comfortable traveling with a dog could be. After that, we tried several other dog-friendly properties, but this time we returned for the first time in three years—again to celebrate a graduation. The Facility is still spotless and the hospitality is outstanding! We had a wonderful time again. We felt once more that Regina is the perfect choice for important family milestone trips. We look forward to staying with you again next time.
