    The buffet was delicious.

    The buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options. However, I left my pet alone in the Room, and after returning home, they seemed less energetic, possibly due to stress.

    An excellent choice for traveling with young children.

    We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. We were traveling with our 1-year-old, and trips are usually challenging due to nap times and baby food, but everything was provided here. There were plenty of things to enjoy without going out—such as the pool, the large public bath, and a kids’ buffet within the Hotel—so we were able to relax very comfortably.

    A bit disappointing.

    I have stayed here once or twice a year for over 10 years. Unfortunately, over the past few visits I can’t help but feel that the level of hospitality has declined. - The tongs at the buffet salad station have changed from before, but they are short and difficult to use. - The timing of refilling dishes across the buffet has gotten worse. What I didn’t notice before—a sense of “leftovers”—now stands out, and it doesn’t whet my appetite. - Compared with before, there seems to be a higher proportion of clearly “commercial/industrial” dishes, which is disappointing. They’re not bad, but they feel like something you can find anywhere. - Perhaps because there are more foreign staff members now, my name has been misread more often and I’ve been asked to repeat questions more frequently. It’s a small thing, but it never happened before. This is a Hotel I’ve used many times and grown attached to, but I may be less likely to return in the future.

    Family Trip

    I have stayed at this accommodation several times before and found the dinner and room to be clean, so this time I visited with my family to celebrate my mother’s special occasion. The hotel kindly prepared a rental celebratory vest and a fruit plate as a surprise, which made my mother very happy. Thank you for your thoughtful gesture. The breakfast and dinner buffet, as well as the onsen, were about the same as before but satisfactory overall. However, when we checked into our room, we found that the door was slightly open with the chain hooked, and there was used tissue under the curtain. I called the front desk after entering the room but was told it was a mistake by housekeeping without much concern shown. This left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.

    Overall, it was good, but there were a few things that bothered me slightly.

    This room was used by my parents. They mentioned it was very comfortable and user-friendly. However, the bed being near the window made my mother feel cold. I wish we had called the front desk to ask for an extra blanket (I also regret not mentioning this detail more thoroughly myself). Additionally, I forgot to mention in my previous review that during check-in, we were informed about using the Go To Pass for expenses like drinks during dinner. However, at checkout, we were told that "it cannot be used for payments made through third-party sites like IKYU." While we ended up using it for souvenir purchases instead and it worked out fine, I had already informed them at check-in that our reservation was made through IKYU.com. It felt disappointing because I trusted what was explained at check-in and tried to use it confidently during checkout but ended up feeling as though I hadn't been listening properly. (I understand such situations are becoming more common these days.) These were the parts of our stay that left us a bit disappointed this time around. Other positive experiences have been shared in a separate review (regarding the baby room usage). This time, I wanted to share things that came to mind later as something worth mentioning. We hope to visit again next year and would appreciate if you could keep these points in mind!

    Perfect for visiting with small children!

    The variety of baby food is abundant, and everyone is kind to children. There is also a pool, which I think children will enjoy. However, the Onsen had a disinfectant smell and was lukewarm, which was disappointing. That said, it might be easier for children to enter. The meals were delicious, and there was a concert at night that made the experience very enjoyable.

    We were able to travel with our 2-year-old child.

    We traveled around our child's birthday, and last year, since our child was only one year old, we couldn't relax much during the trip. However, this time we researched in advance and found that there was a daycare service available. We made a reservation for the daycare along with our room reservation, which allowed us to enjoy a relaxing bath. The room had no awkward steps or uneven surfaces, so we could stay comfortably and safely. The entrance was spacious enough to park the stroller directly inside, which was very convenient. Since we stayed in December, it’s understandable due to the season's climate that cold air came through as the bed was near the window. While it wasn’t an issue for adults, it seemed uncomfortable for our child who had trouble sleeping because of it. We ended up laying them down at the foot of the bed instead (even in their baby crib they woke up from feeling cold). The 90-size loungewear provided was adorable and perfect! Dinner was deliciously satisfying, and every dish at breakfast buffet tasted great too—our favorite part being the rice ball corner! We’re already talking about visiting again next year. Looking forward to staying with you again then!

    Stay at Hotel Epinard Nasu.

    The heating system is centrally controlled throughout the facility, which was quite challenging for someone like me who feels cold easily during colder seasons. (Only the airflow can be adjusted.) The spacious Room made it even more noticeable. Elderly guests or those sensitive to cold should take note of this. Meals were served in a buffet style. The variety of dishes, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, was extensive and tasted excellent. I felt that arranging the dishes more thoughtfully could improve the flow of people—for example, considering the placement of dishes and sauces. (As someone impatient, I tended to give up when faced with long lines.) These were my only concerns; overall, I would love to stay here again!

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    It was my first stay, and the staff's smiles and thoughtfulness were amazing! The buffet was as excellent as the reviews said, and I ate so much that I felt like bursting (haha). The open-air bath was spacious and very relaxing! Everything was thoroughly cleaned, making it a pleasant bathing experience. Lastly, I must emphasize the kindness of the staff at the game corner! Even though I made many unreasonable requests, they responded with a constant smile. Thanks to this person, our trip with my children became truly memorable. It was such an enjoyable one-night stay! Thank you very much.

    Popular among families with children and multi-generational groups.

    Reserved a Kizuna Twin Room just before the autumn long weekend. The room was clean and had the minimum space needed for two people. However, the entrance area was narrow, making it slightly inconvenient to enter and exit while avoiding the door. The onsen was quite crowded both after check-in and in the morning of the next day. The only less crowded time was after 9 AM following breakfast. To avoid the buffet dinner crowd, we reserved a premium Japanese course meal. Although portions were small, it was delicious, allowing us to enjoy a quiet and relaxing time. For breakfast, we went to the buffet but found it quite busy even early in the morning. Skipping breakfast at the hotel and leaving early for brunch nearby might have been a better option. The view from the rooftop observation area was stunning. If your room does not face this view, visiting this spot is recommended unless there is bad weather—though it's only suitable for those comfortable with climbing many stairs. The air conditioning could not be adjusted individually per room, and windows could not be opened either. This made it uncomfortably warm inside when sunlight came through. A single openable window would have made a big difference. We wanted to relax until check-out at 11 AM but ended up checking out earlier due to these issues.

    Pets Welcome

    This was our third stay at Epinal, but it was the first time we entrusted our pet. We usually leave our pet at a facility near our home, but since they were all fully booked, we contacted the hotel and were able to secure a spot. The pet hotel had clean and well-maintained facilities. We were unaware that there are rooms where you can stay with your pet, which was a learning point for us. Our room was very satisfying, and we were able to relax comfortably. Since my parents are elderly, I thought it would be nice to have a plan where breakfast could be served at a dining area instead of a buffet. While the buffet is popular and enjoyable for younger guests, I was a bit concerned about the possibility of elderly guests wandering around and causing inconvenience if they were to fall. That said, my parents are still quite energetic for their age and enjoyed their stay, expressing their desire to visit again. We look forward to another opportunity to stay.     Highly Rated Hotel

    The facility offers a spacious parking area, and activities like horseback riding and mini-golf can be enjoyed on-site, making for a relaxing stay. The staff were well-trained in guiding guests upon arrival, handling check-in, meal guidance, and serving, leaving a positive impression. The large public bath, complete with an open-air bath and sauna, was well-maintained and provided a soothing experience. For meals, we chose the buffet this time. The variety of dishes was extensive, the quality of ingredients was excellent, and everything was delicious. The steak's doneness varied—great on the first day but disappointing on the second. However, the morning omelets were exceptionally tasty compared to others. The dining area felt a bit crowded due to close seating arrangements, which made it less relaxing at times. That said, having a system in place to check congestion and waiting times from your room was very convenient. Overall, with fewer international tourists and mostly Japanese guests, it felt like a safe and comfortable environment for elderly visitors as well. This was our second visit, and we would love to come back again!

    Used for a maternity trip!

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days to relax as a couple before the baby arrives. Since I am pregnant, we planned to enjoy a relaxing hotel stay, so we chose Epinal with its various events and facilities. As there were no standard rooms available, we opted for a slightly larger room for a more luxurious experience. For multiple night stays, if you decline room cleaning services, you receive discount vouchers usable within the facility—a very efficient system! After checking in on the first night, we visited the Stained Glass Museum. The staff kindly explained how to use buses and taxis during check-in, which was very helpful. On the second day, we had reserved an experience making natural stone accessories at a workshop within walking distance of the hotel. The staff at the workshop were also very kind and accommodating. We took our time enjoying it thoroughly and created wonderful memories—highly recommended! Meals were buffet-style on both days; some menu items changed slightly each day so it didn’t feel repetitive or boring. For breakfast, since it can get crowded, we used an online waiting system beforehand but found it confusing as people who arrived later seemed to be called ahead of us unless they spoke up at reception. Once we mentioned our arrival though, they guided us immediately—it felt like using the waiting system wasn’t entirely necessary. The guests included families with children and groups of older adults; there seemed to be many child-friendly services available too. We would love to visit again as a family once our baby is born!

    Overall, it was good, but...

    A large Hotel with many people even on weekdays. A typical big Hotel, for better or worse. The bath and meals were great, and I ate too much. The nighttime music show was also enjoyable. However, the Room only had two green tea packs and two shiitake tea packs, which felt a bit lonely when drinking tea. The view of Mt. Chausu from the 14th-floor observatory in the morning was beautiful. Also, the staff were pleasant and welcoming.

    This was my first stay. There are plenty of pools and attractions within the facility for families to enjoy. During meals, tray carts are available, which is very convenient. It’s a hotel with thoughtful hospitality for everyone.

    A Hotel Loved by Children

    Our child loved last year's stay so much that we decided to stay again this year. They were thrilled with the pool and onsen, enjoying it so much that there wasn’t enough time for everything. They even cried saying, "I don’t want to leave!" because they had such a great time. We parents also enjoyed the buffet meals last year, which is why we chose to stay again this time! It was a very satisfying trip overall, but during the evening buffet, we noticed that the "Kids' Corner" items like animal-shaped bread and chicken nuggets from last year were no longer available. Will these not be part of the buffet anymore? (Our child kept talking about them throughout the past year and was looking forward to them this time, but they weren’t there...) We also really liked today’s shabu-shabu and hope it will make a return in future stays! After returning home, we’ve already started talking about wanting to visit again soon. Thank you once more!

    Authentic Japanese Cuisine

    Dinner was a Japanese course meal, featuring dishes that highlighted various ingredients with excellent preparation, seasoning, and beautiful presentation. The dessert, sweet potato yokan, had a delightful touch with candied lemon peel inside, adding both flavor and texture as a nice accent. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, with the Chinese dishes being particularly delicious. This Hotel is welcoming not only to families with babies but also to elderly guests and those with disabilities.

    Thank you very much for this experience. We stayed as a family of four, including our 4-year-old and 2-year-old daughters. First, the building overall felt old, and although some parts have been renovated, it lacked brightness in general. It would be nice to have more lamps or lighting in the hallways and elevator floors of the accommodation area. Additionally, we felt there were not enough elevators for the number of guests staying. The room itself was beautifully renovated and very comfortable. However, regarding cleanliness, we noticed mold in areas such as the bathroom drain and toilet handwashing area that had not been removed. Also, the toilet seat was tilted. For meals, we used the buffet for both dinner and breakfast; however, due to a large number of guests staying at that time, it felt quite hectic and difficult to enjoy meals leisurely as we wished. The food temperature overall was lukewarm; especially soups could use better temperature management. That said, thank you so much for preparing a birthday plate for us! We also appreciated all the photos taken during this special moment. The pool didn’t have any particularly standout facilities but included a jacuzzi which our children thoroughly enjoyed! The changing rooms could be cleaner though. As for the bathhouse (onsen), the water was incredibly pleasant to soak in—there were even mothers bathing with their small babies—and it provided an environment where everyone could relax comfortably. Its late-night hours until 1 AM were especially convenient for families with children like ours. Although there were several points of concern, despite being right after a busy summer holiday season, all staff members we encountered from check-in to check-out greeted us warmly with smiles and great hospitality. They treated our children kindly too. This being our first trip to Nasu made it truly memorable thanks to your efforts! Next time around we'll consider revising meal plans when booking again. It turned out to be such a happy trip filled with kindness from people in Nasu along with its beautiful nature that healed us deeply. Thank you once again!

    Very good Hotel.

    This was our third stay in three consecutive years. This time, I stayed for one night with my daughter and three grandchildren, including an infant, making it a total of five people in one Room. The many child-friendly Rooms and thoughtful accommodations for children made our stay very comfortable. Our Plan included buffet meals for both breakfast and dinner, which offered a wide variety of delicious dishes (including baby food). The open-air bath was also enjoyable, and the grandchildren loved it.

    The Perfect Choice for Family Trips

    We used this facility to create summer vacation memories. - The large public bath with an open-air bath allowed us to stretch out and relax, relieving our fatigue. - The indoor pool was a hit with the kids, who were so excited that they kept asking to go back in. - The experience workshop offered a variety of activities enjoyable for both men and women. Our family made accessories and memory boxes. - Additionally, the festival event allowed us to make cotton candy ourselves, and the kids enjoyed running around during the quiz rally in the hall—there were plenty of thoughtful touches to keep children entertained throughout our stay. - The only downside was the dining area. While the food was delicious and there were plenty of menu options, it operated on a timed system where everyone rushed at once to get their buffet meals, leaving little room for leisurely enjoyment as we had to line up quickly for food instead of savoring it at our own pace. Improving this aspect would make it perfect! - However, when we reached out about our child's allergies, staff members responded kindly and attentively, which left us very satisfied with this facility overall. Our child even said they want to visit again someday—we will definitely consider staying here again!

    A highly popular Resort Hotel in operation.

    Although it was just after the Obon holiday, the Hotel was bustling with families enjoying their summer vacation. It gave the impression of being a "vibrant Resort Hotel" rather than a "fading former Resort Hotel," much like the overall atmosphere of Nasu. The indoor pool, lobby events, game corner, bakery, and souvenir shop were all lively and crowded. Interestingly, unlike many other tourist destinations where foreign visitors dominate, most guests here were Japanese tourists. As someone who has traveled extensively across Japan in recent years, I found it refreshing to see such a thriving destination primarily filled with Japanese visitors. Within the premises, there were plenty of activities available; our family enjoyed tennis and crafting together. For dinner at "Nasuno," we had a Japanese course meal that was both delicious and perfectly portioned. Honestly speaking, given this price range for a Resort Hotel meal, I didn’t have high expectations initially but ended up pleasantly surprised! The service was exceptional as well—staff provided handmade local dialect booklets or bookmarks as souvenirs and even packed leftover rice into onigiri for us to enjoy later (complete with notes advising consumption within two hours for food safety). At breakfast buffet time too: each table came equipped with clear venue maps showing dish placements while children’s meals were distinctly separated from adult areas—a thoughtful touch rarely seen at other hotels' buffets! Turning attention towards our Room itself: its shower booth featured frosted glass partitions ensuring privacy—a detail we greatly appreciated—and in-room wear ranged widely from adult sizes S–LL down through kids’ sizes neatly stored inside drawers which suited our family perfectly given varying size needs among members!     It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I think it is the best Hotel for children.

    We have stayed here several times as our child loves it. The activities, such as the festival, mini-concert, pool, quizzes inside the facility, and animal interaction in the forest area, kept us happily busy. The dinner had a kids' corner, and the kids' room was convenient with low beds and a no-shoes policy. ● It would be helpful if there were ice machines on every floor (there wasn’t one on the 3rd floor where the kids' rooms are). Although it was more expensive during Obon season, we had an overall satisfying stay. Looking forward to visiting again!

    It was my first stay.

    Our annual trip to Nasu brought us to Epinal for the first time, as we usually stay at a different hotel. After reading various reviews and contacting the hotel, we were very excited about our stay. - Positive Points: We checked in early and were able to enjoy the buffet at an earlier time. The indoor pool allowed us to have fun even on rainy days. Our room request was accommodated perfectly. The large public bath was spacious and enjoyable. - Concerns: Although it was a non-smoking room, there was a noticeable smell of tobacco. It took a long time to get food at the buffet. The floor of the public bath seemed quite dirty. During dinner, I made a slightly unreasonable request, but one of the female staff members (I didn’t catch her name, but she had short hair) responded kindly without any hesitation—thank you so much! The room was clean, and during check-in, they provided detailed information about children’s amenities which made our stay comfortable—if only there wasn’t that tobacco smell... As for the buffet, I loved the asparagus so much that I ate several pieces! However, there was a long line during registration; suddenly about 20 people cut in line because their representative had been holding their spot—it wasn’t pleasant. It would be better if either everyone lined up together or clear instructions were given regarding representatives holding spots. Near the public bath area felt very hot; some seats in the buffet hall were also warm depending on location. Even within our room itself, some areas felt too hot or too cold—I hope improvements can be made with air conditioning systems. While I might consider returning to my usual hotel next time, overall this is still a good accommodation—thank you!

    The Room was wonderful.

    We chose the "Omakase Plan" and were fortunately assigned a room with a stunning view, for which we are very grateful. Our child enjoyed the pool, Onsen, fireworks, and exploring, while my wife was able to relax in the room. It became a wonderful family memory. We would love to come again. Thank you very much!

    The ultimate accommodation for families

    We stayed during the summer vacation with my spouse, daughter, and grandchild, and were amazed by the wonderful events and hospitality within the facility. It was perfect for families with small children to enjoy together in comfort. No wonder the entire facility was fully booked. The meals (Ultimate Course) were also delicious. Thank you very much. Just one suggestion: it would have been greatly appreciated if cosmetics were provided in the Room.

    The large public bath and Japanese restaurant were excellent.

    I stayed in a Western-style Room in the main building for one night and two days. The Room was slightly old and small, but it had a great view, came equipped with a smartphone charger, and was comfortable. The large public bath was fantastic, featuring an open-air bath facing a garden with a waterfall. The washing area and changing room were well-equipped as well. There were various new types of shampoos and hair dryers available, which was an excellent touch. At check-in, I was surprised to be informed that the dinner buffet would be at 8:30 PM due to crowding; however, I felt relieved when they offered me the option to switch to the Japanese restaurant instead. The Japanese restaurant provided excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices—it was truly delightful. For breakfast, I opted for the buffet but found it slightly too health-focused. If this buffet is priced high, perhaps its content could be reconsidered (though my comparison may have been influenced by how exceptional the local offerings at the Japanese restaurant were). Otherwise, it wasn’t bad overall!

    Not only is the hospitality exceptional, but the steak preparation skills are outstanding.

    One of the purposes of this trip to Nasu-Shiobara was to let my family experience the excellence of local Wagyu beef. In the evening, we enjoyed a Rossini-style steak at a French restaurant and were amazed by the perfect balance of lean meat and minimal fat, as well as the high quality of the Périgueux sauce. Of course, the hospitality and service were also exceptional. We are considering visiting again next year.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday. We had dinner at Washo Dining Nasu-no, where Ms. M offered kind words and thoughtful gestures for the celebration, making it a memorable stay for both my grandmother and our family. Another staff member, also Ms. M, provided excellent hospitality by taking two different patterns of photos for us! The staff's overall service was exceptional, and we were very satisfied. Thank you so much. The Forest Concert was also wonderful, and we would love to visit again!
