Overall, it was a great accommodation.

The guest room was spacious, the food was delicious, and the bath was excellent. However, I have two personal suggestions for improvement. First, I stayed for two nights, and on the second night the “sanitized” cups had a very strong damp-cloth smell. I won’t speculate on the cause here, but I think this should be addressed as soon as possible. Second is the grilled abalone. It was a DIY style, but I think it would be even better with a lid so it cooks evenly throughout—more like steaming—making it tastier. With only heat from below over a small flame as it is now, there ends up being quite an unevenness between the top and bottom of the abalone meat. That said, it was still definitely delicious. There were a couple of points I hope will be improved, but overall the service was great and it was a good Accommodation!

    It was amazing!!

Great food, great drinks, great Onsen, great Room—everything was wonderful. The only regret was that there were no newspapers in the lobby. We stayed locally for two nights on our Niigata trip. On the first night we stayed at Sakihana Onsen, but the service, meals, and front desk response were the worst—only the price was high. We talked during the day with my wife that if this Hotel on the second night was also terrible, our Niigata trip would become a dark memory. While strolling around Murakami City during the day, we also bought Yoshikawa salmon as a souvenir—2,000 yen per slice. It was surprisingly expensive, but we thought it must be delicious and bought it (we still hadn’t tried it at that point). In the evening we arrived at Ginoya and were shown to our Room—it was just as lovely as described. After putting down our luggage, we went to the lounge on the first floor. There was an all-you-can-drink Yasuda yogurt service; since it was hot, I had two glasses. Then it was time for a bath: I went to the large public bath on the 8th floor, and my wife went to the scenic hinoki bath on the 7th floor—both were excellent. And then came dinner—the moment we’d been waiting for. We headed to dinner saying how tough it would be if it were disappointing like last night’s meal. We were shown to a private room; seeing all of the dishes laid out on the table instantly raised our expectations. Drinks were all-you-can-drink during dinner as well; wine was even served by bottle, and they told us that if we couldn’t finish it, we could take it back to our Room. We were thrilled. I’ll upload photos of what we ate. We returned to our Room pleasantly tipsy—good night. Morning came—breakfast time. When we walked into the venue and lined up, there sat generous portions of salmon roe and tuna right in front of us. Pouring them over Koshihikari rice made a seafood bowl! There were also shumai dumplings and curry available too—but nothing could compete with that seafood bowl. This Hotel is excellent—we’ll definitely return again next year.

    The stay did not fee...

The stay did not feel worth the Accommodation Fee. First, having all Rooms designated for smoking may no longer meet current needs, so I believe this should be reconsidered. What concerned me most was hygiene. * The Room air conditioner had a large buildup of dust, visible even from the outside. * There were several small hairs on the bed sheets. * The yukata had an odor similar to an older man’s body smell. * The towels had a strong musty, damp-drying smell. * The bath mat had widespread red stains that looked like blood, and I could not use it. * There were cobwebs on the chairs in the large public bath. With so many issues in a row, I could not help but question whether proper cleaning was actually being done. My concerns about hygiene were significant, and it did not feel like an environment where I could stay with peace of mind. I understand that renovating Facilities can be costly. However, cleaning and hygiene management are areas that can be improved through daily operations. I felt those basics were not being handled adequately. If the Accommodation Fee had been low, I might have accepted some compromises. But given that this was not a budget price range, I was very surprised and disappointed by the condition. At this time, I will not return. I also do not feel this is a Hotel I could recommend to friends or family. I hope to see urgent improvements in hygiene management and cleaning procedures.

    This was my first st...

This was my first stay for one night with breakfast included. The location is along the main road, so it was easy to find. We came by rental car, and it was convenient that parking was available on the property and right in front of the building. Since it was Sunday, we were able to park easily (though it may fill up during busy seasons). The baths are available on a time schedule with different baths open at different times. Because we arrived a bit late (around 7:00 p.m.), we couldn’t try them all, but each had its own atmosphere and they were spacious, which I enjoyed. If I visit again, I’d like to arrive earlier and enjoy all of them. Breakfast was served in a bright dining area with a great view. There was a good variety of dishes, and everything tasted great. Although the building is older, there are barrier-free measures in place, so I felt it would be fine to visit with my mother as well. Thank you for your hospitality.

The complimentary drink service is excellent!

The two-hour all-you-can-drink service at dinner completely exceeded my expectations. When I ordered wine, they brought a full 750 ml bottle, and they even said I could take it back to my Room if I couldn’t finish it. I really felt the president’s spirit of “wanting guests to enjoy themselves.” Thank you very much. The food really showcased the quality of the ingredients—especially the meat (steak), which was delicious. The rice was excellent too! The Onsen water was slightly silky and felt great for the skin, and the open-air bath on a high floor was pure bliss. I also enjoyed the drink service in the lobby. Yasuda Yogurt and Murakami tea were especially appreciated as a tourist-friendly touch. Because of the rain, I couldn’t do the “boiled egg experience,” so I’d love to visit again. Just one request: it would be helpful to have a small hand towel at the sink area. On the other hand, a towel in the toilet isn’t necessary. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    Japanese-Style Room with Private Bath

There used to be an open-air bath on the rooftop, which I enjoyed before, but this time it had been renovated and I was very satisfied. There were three baths in total, but I didn’t have time to try them all.\nI’d like to visit again.

    Is that normal?

I stayed in a Japanese-style Room. Using the Shuttle Service to the station was very helpful, and they were flexible when I contacted them to change the time. The Room I stayed in was Japanese-style, but the view wasn’t great. Personally, I would have appreciated having a chair. Some Reviews mentioned that cleaning wasn’t great, but it seemed normal to me. I wasn’t sure whether the tea in the Room was Murakami tea or not. The bath was also a hot Onsen and felt average. The shampoo and body soap didn’t suit me at all—more than anything I’ve used before. Breakfast had no distinctive features and felt very ordinary, which was very disappointing. Even the rice felt disappointing compared with eating Niigata rice at home. I also tried making Onsen eggs behind the Accommodation, but it felt like once was enough for me.

    The service level is low.

Only the attendant provided good service; everything else was below average, which was disappointing. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, but it felt too close to the neighboring Room and was fully visible from the building across, so it felt closed-in and disappointing. The service level of staff other than the attendant was low. I don’t really understand why this property has such high ratings. However, if you stay here at the lowest price and keep expectations modest, the in-Room meals were reasonably tasty, and the all-you-can-drink option is a plus.

    Annual Accommodation

This is an accommodation I visit every year at the end of the year to relax and rejuvenate. I soak in the onsen to unwind and reflect on the past year while planning for the next. Enjoying a drink while soaking in the private open-air bath in my room is pure bliss. The meals are delicious, and I truly love this accommodation. As a smoker, I appreciate that this place allows smoking, which is rare these days as most accommodations have become entirely non-smoking. Being able to enjoy a drink and a smoke with room service dining is such a treat. I will definitely visit again next year! The guestroom amenities are rated 4 stars; it would be great if razors were also provided in the room for those who don’t use the large public bath. Both the beds and tatami rooms are excellent, with good air conditioning as well. Despite being a smoker, there’s no smell at all in the room—perhaps due to good ventilation? Thank you for everything!

    This is my second stay.

I stayed at this accommodation for the first time during the same period last year, and I was so satisfied that I decided to stay again for two consecutive years. This time as well, both the meals and the bath (room with a private open-air bath) were excellent, and it’s already certain that I’ll visit again next year. Additionally, all the staff provided great service, accommodating my request to substitute ingredients I’m not fond of, leaving me completely satisfied with everything.

    The meals are luxurious.

I stayed at Senami Onsen to see the "Millennium Salmon." As mentioned in other reviews, the meals and all-you-can-drink alcohol at this price were so impressive that I wondered if they were operating at a loss. The unlimited Yasuda Yogurt was also a delightful feature. The food and drink offerings were flawless, but it seems that staffing costs are kept low. For someone like me who prefers minimal interaction, this was appreciated; however, those who enjoy conversations with staff might find it slightly lacking. That said, despite being busy with limited staff, the young woman who served us during dinner maintained a warm smile and showed great attentiveness, leaving a very positive impression. The onsen was excellent as well. While I wished for better views to enhance the experience further, this accommodation offered incredible value for its price and left me highly satisfied!

    Disappointing

I made a reservation because the reviews were good, but honestly, I was disappointed. First, the male staff's response during our arrival. Instead of guiding us to the car drop-off area, he just pointed to the parking lot without any proper welcome! I've stayed at many onsen ryokans before, but this was my first time experiencing such a lackluster greeting. The facility felt old but seemed well-maintained in terms of cleanliness. However, there was a shocking incident!! On my way to dinner, I stopped by the restroom on the first floor and saw a snake slithering through the hallway! I immediately informed a male front desk staff member about it, but he neither expressed concern for guests nor rushed out from behind the counter... Perhaps it's just something expected in rural areas? As for positives: The food (as others have mentioned) was excellent—true to Niigata's reputation! The rice was delicious and paired with great meal options. The self-serve all-you-can-drink service is also nice for those who enjoy alcohol. The female staff member attending us was friendly and cheerful, leaving a good impression. Unfortunately for us as a couple, this ryokan did not feel worth its price or like somewhere we would want to stay again despite other positive reviews from guests.

Both breakfast and dinner are highly satisfying, with free alcoholic beverages included.

I stayed here for a birthday trip. Upon arrival at the accommodation, I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee service, which included Niigata's famous Yasuda Yogurt. Dinner was filled with seasonal flavors and delicious specialties from Murakami, including fresh sashimi, flavorful seafood hot pot, and thick steak—both taste and portion size were highly satisfying. The rice was exceptionally delicious as well. On top of that, alcohol was free-flowing with a selection of local sake, making it feel very luxurious. The breakfast quality stood out even more—with refined simmered dishes, fresh tuna, fluffy salmon—all available in an all-you-can-eat style. The rice at breakfast was so good that I couldn't stop eating! The staff were all friendly and accommodating with warm smiles throughout my stay. Since it was my birthday, they even gifted me a mini sparkling wine during dinner—a lovely touch that made my day extra special. If I had one small wish for improvement, it would be softer futons as I'm used to sleeping on beds. I would love to visit again someday—thank you for such a wonderful experience!

    Is breakfast enough for you?

The room had an open-air bath, and the bath was excellent. However, the dinner was disappointing. Even though it was all-inclusive, is this price justified? For drinks, there was only one type each of red wine, white wine, highball, beer, and sake. Most of the food was left uneaten. Breakfast was a buffet and felt delicious perhaps because dinner had been such a letdown. Since the bath was so good, I felt it was a shame overall and decided to share my thoughts here.

Lack of room amenities is a negative point.

As mentioned in the title, there were no hand towels provided in the washroom to dry hands or face after washing. Thinking it might have been an oversight, I called the front desk. Two thin gauze-like towels wrapped in plastic were delivered. Additionally, the bath towels also lacked the Ryokan's name and were similarly thin gauze-like material. Overall, it seems efforts are being made to reduce costs and streamline operations, but I would appreciate investment where necessary. Also, I hope BSTV can be included in the future. The bath and meals were satisfying; however, these points were disappointing.

A Hotel combining the charm of a Japanese-style Ryokan with advanced facilities and services.

While preserving the charm of a traditional Japanese Ryokan, the property offers excellent amenities such as a well-designed spacious lobby for relaxation, a quiet area with complimentary coffee, soft drinks, and local yogurt. The network environment was also convenient. The baths are located on the rooftops of both the main building and annex, offering stunning views. The open-air baths are simply designed without unnecessary decorations, which added to their appeal. Essential facilities like saunas were thoughtfully arranged and easy to use. For dinner on a weekday evening, we were provided with a private room even though it was just the two of us. Beer and other beverages were offered through an all-you-can-drink server system—a perfect balance between efficiency and service quality. The meal began with a toast using "Sakebitashi," a local specialty from Murakami paired with "Taiyozakari," another renowned local sake—an unforgettable combination. Other dishes featured fresh ingredients that reflected regional and seasonal flavors. The spacious relaxation room equipped with numerous high-quality massage chairs was impressive; I used it multiple times during my stay. Our Room on the 6th floor of the annex combined traditional Japanese aesthetics with all necessary modern facilities. With its great view and comfortable atmosphere, our one-night stay became an unforgettable memory from this trip.

    Would love to visit again!

The staff was very accommodating, and I am grateful for their service. There were three baths available; I visited two of them at night and in the morning but couldn't try the third one. Each bath featured a hot Onsen, a sauna, and an open-air bath, making it a delightful experience. Dinner was served in a private dining area, with unlimited drinks included in the accommodation fee. The grilled abalone was delicious and felt like a special treat despite feeling slightly sorry for it. Breakfast was served as a buffet. In the morning, I took one of the raw eggs available near the front desk to make an Onsen egg at the hotel's hot spring source. The uphill walk with stairs was quite steep but offered great views and made for an enjoyable stroll. Aside from the air conditioning not working well and making it uncomfortable to sleep due to warm bedding, everything else was perfect!

    Everything is excellent!

The Room, bath, cuisine, and in-house services were all exceptional. The Room was a Japanese-Western style with an open-air Onsen bath and an extra-large bed! It even had an electric massage chair. The open-air Onsen bath left my skin feeling smooth. Dinner included Murakami beef, crab, abalone sashimi, and self-serve all-you-can-drink alcohol. Not only delicious but also incredibly cost-effective! Additionally, the in-house corner offered free-flowing sake and other drinks along with unlimited ice cream; yogurt and soft drinks were available until morning as well. The breakfast buffet featured unlimited salmon roe, somen noodles, curry dishes, Japanese cuisine, Western options—so much that I couldn’t try everything! Check-out time was 11 AM for a relaxed departure. Everything was truly amazing beyond words. Thank you to the Hotel staff for such a wonderful experience! Also, IKYU.com never disappoints—it’s always fantastic! My heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to IKYU.com!

    Quite disappointing.

The photos are significantly different from the actual facilities and meals (including the Room and public bath). The Room feels outdated and lacks cleanliness. The receptionist at check-in was robotic, and there was no guidance to the Room. Even with large luggage, no one offered assistance. As a Ryokan (Hotel), it operates at the lowest level in various aspects. My important one-night stay turned into an unpleasant experience, which is truly disappointing.

    High-level Onsen Ryokan

The building, onsen, meals, and service were all of an exceptionally high standard, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay throughout. I visited after reading a review calling it "the best in Senami Onsen," and I completely agree with that assessment. If someone asks me for a recommended ryokan in Niigata, this would be the first one I'd suggest. The onsen was particularly outstanding. Each soak melted away the fatigue accumulated over time. The local sake from Murakami City, "Taiyozakari," included in the all-inclusive plan had a perfect balance of aroma and flavor that paired wonderfully with the meals. The yogurt drink was also delicious and reflected thoughtful attention to detail. Additionally, having dinner served in a private room was especially appreciated as we were traveling with children. It allowed us to enjoy quiet family time without worrying about others around us. This is an unforgettable accommodation that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

    The meals are highly satisfying!

The meal, including the black Wagyu beef steak and abalone, was delicious. However, it was disappointing that the sauce for the meat was sesame-based, as it overpowered the natural flavor of the meat. A lighter option like ponzu, wasabi, or a Japanese-style sauce would have been preferable. The free drink service was convenient and easy to use. The amenities were limited and somewhat inconvenient. The public bath lacked items such as cleansing products, shower caps, and hair ties. I only noticed that shower caps were available at a corner of the front desk when checking out. It would have been helpful if this had been explained beforehand. It would also be nice to have individually packaged skincare items like lotion or toner available for guests.

    Would love to visit again.

I used the same Plan for the second time, and to conclude, I would like to use it again. This Plan offers a guest room with a semi-open-air Onsen in Niigata Prefecture, private dining service instead of a buffet for dinner, and while the view is not particularly remarkable, I think it is an excellent balance for the price. Privacy between rooms is well maintained. The 11:00 AM checkout time is also appreciated. However, only terrestrial TV channels are available. This Plan seems ideal for those who want to enjoy multiple baths in their semi-open-air Onsen and spend quality time with their companion. While it may not turn an unenjoyable trip into an enjoyable one, it will certainly make an enjoyable trip even better. Additionally, drinks during dinner were inclusive and free of charge; however, having paid options would be even better. As someone from Niigata Prefecture, I found the selection of sake slightly lacking—or perhaps there were more options on the menu that I simply didn’t notice?

We regret to hear about your disappointing experience. During the busy Golden Week, we strive to provide attentive service with a smile, and we apologize if this was not reflected during your stay. Considering the cost (just under 100,000 yen for two people), we understand your expectations for a higher level of hospitality. We will review our services, including the self-service drink options during meals, to ensure improvements are made. Thank you for your feedback.

    Satisfied.

This is an accommodation we have stayed at several times before, but this time we splurged on a room with a semi-open-air bath. The onsen in the room was always at the perfect temperature and very relaxing. On the other hand, the large public bath was often crowded with outside guests and noisy, making it hard to relax and not offering much advantage for staying guests. While the building itself feels quite old, I hope they continue their efforts to keep running this place.

Overall satisfaction was high, but some noise-sensitive guests should take note.

As per the information on the website and from past guests, the dinner and breakfast were delicious, the bath offered a great view, and the staff's service was polite and excellent. However, the air conditioning in the Room I stayed in was a large industrial unit, and even when the airflow was reduced, the noise was noticeable. Additionally, the sound from the nearby hot spring Facility of the Hotel was audible at night, which made it difficult for one of my companions to sleep well. Even with these factors, my overall satisfaction was high, and I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.
