    Delicious meals and excellent service

I stayed with my 82-year-old mother. She cannot eat meat, but the dinner menu allowed us to choose the main dish, rice, and side dishes, so there were no issues, and everything was delicious. It is a 10-minute walk to Izumo Taisha Shrine, but since it is uphill on the way there, it might be challenging in midsummer or snowy conditions. A one-way shuttle service to Izumo Taisha Shrine would be appreciated. The staff's attentive service was excellent, and the quality of the onsen exceeded expectations—my skin became smooth! It was a wonderful trip to Izumo.

It became a wonderful summer memory.

Stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with a cypress bath. The comfortable Room and the Facility, including a sauna and an open-air bath in the large public bath, were excellent. Enjoyed delicious meals in a spacious dining area, and the service and staff's attentiveness were very pleasant. Arrived slightly later than planned after visiting Adachi Museum of Art, Matsue Castle, and city sightseeing by rental car from Yonago Airport but was warmly welcomed with smiles and treated to delicious local sake as a welcome drink. Close to Izumo Taisha Shrine, allowing for an early morning visit the next day—creating wonderful summer memories.

    Wonderful Accommodation

It was my first time visiting Izumo. The bath and the Room were clean. Some dishes were a bit strongly flavored, but the red miso soup at dinner was very delicious.

Please provide the text you would like me to improve.

The staff were very pleasant. However, there was dust in small gaps, rails, and blinds, giving the impression that cleaning was not thorough. The food felt mass-produced and lacked a sense of hospitality. For a room shared by 4 people at 50,000 yen per person, the price seems too high. It's unfortunate since the staff are wonderful. I hope improvements can be made.

I was very satisfied. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Izumo Taisha Shrine. The staff paid attention to every detail, making it a wonderful holiday. I will definitely stay here again.

It was an accommodation I would love to stay at again!

This was our first visit to Izumo. We visited as a family of four during the summer vacation. Kaun was an absolutely satisfying accommodation in every way! The room had four beds, which seemed to be arranged with our family in mind, and the kids were thrilled. The meals were the same for our sixth-grade daughter as for adults, which surprised us. Usually, children are served fewer dishes or different menus altogether, so this was a first-time experience for us. Our daughter seemed very happy with the equal treatment she received. Additionally, we were offered two complimentary beers and two juices as part of the connection made by staying at this accommodation—this gesture was greatly appreciated. The public bath wasn’t particularly large but had slightly yellowish water that suited my preference perfectly; it also included a sauna where I could relax deeply. The private bath being free and allowing us to enjoy it together as a family was wonderful too, along with post-bath ice cream and probiotic drinks that added to the experience. Since Izumo Taisha Shrine is nearby, it’s an excellent location for morning visits there. Every staff member at this accommodation was truly amazing—it made me genuinely glad we chose Kaun. My wife mentioned wanting to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine again in the future; when that happens, we will definitely stay here again without question—this must be fate! Thank you all so much for providing such wonderful moments during our stay!

    Private baths are mandatory.

I enjoyed the private bath right after checking in, and I loved the sense of privacy. The course meal was delightful, and choosing small dishes added a bit of fun. The Room also had an open-air bath where I could relax in the morning, which was truly satisfying. I would love to stay here again!

    Comfortable Accommodation

The accommodation was very comfortable and conveniently located near Izumo Taisha. Since the large public bath was shared with the sister facility "Tsukiyo no Usagi," we could enjoy two Onsen locations, which was wonderful. The welcome drink and post-bath ice cream service were also delightful. We only had breakfast, but it was very delicious. My husband requested a low-allergen meal, and he was very pleased with how tasty it was. We truly appreciated the attentive service. We would love to stay here again if we have another opportunity!

    I'm full.

We stayed here for a family trip. The location was very convenient, just a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive to Izumo Taisha and about a 40-minute drive to Iwami Ginzan. Additionally, Lake Shinji and Matsue Castle were within an hour's reach. Upon entering the Ryokan, we noticed the tatami flooring throughout, allowing for barefoot stays. Socks were also provided along with towels, showcasing thoughtful hospitality in every detail. The room's cypress bath filled quickly and seemed to use Onsen water, which was very convenient. The large public bath with sauna on tatami flooring and the family baths (no reservation needed; available on a first-come-first-served basis) offered relaxing spaces where we could truly unwind. As for the meals, everything was delicious and served in generous portions that left us completely full. We stayed for two nights and found ourselves preparing mentally before heading to the dining area each time! The price was reasonable as well. Next time, we hope to visit with three generations of our family including relatives. Thank you very much!

    Was it to your satisfaction?

I invited a friend for this stay, and they complimented the delicious meals, making it a satisfying experience. While there were some slightly noisy areas in the facility, likely due to international guests, it was understandable. Aside from that, I enjoyed the staff's excellent service and the events offered. I look forward to staying here again.

    Highly Satisfied

I initially thought a room with a private bath would be best for my elderly mother, who has difficulty walking, as the large public bath seemed unsuitable. However, we were fortunate to find an available private bath without needing a reservation and enjoyed it at our own pace. It might be challenging if the timing doesn't work out. The staff were kind, the meals were delicious, and it turned out to be a very satisfying trip. Borrowing a phone charger was also very helpful. Thank you very much!

A wonderful accommodation near Izumo Taisha.

Within walking distance to Izumo Taisha. Tatami-floored hallways and rooms, with a two-bedroom setup featuring four beds for just two people. The room's bath is a relaxing hinoki cypress tub, available anytime. Meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. This was our second stay, and complimentary welcome drinks and post-bath ice pops were provided. The staff were all wonderfully friendly with warm smiles—if we have the chance, we'd love to stay here again!

    First Solo Trip

I went on my first solo trip to Izumo and stayed for two nights at Kayun, which had great reviews. The staff were all kind, the room was just the right size, and the semi-private dining area allowed me to enjoy meals without worrying about others, which was wonderful. I also thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the private bath. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Izumo!

    Satisfied.

This time, we stayed in the detached "Hiyun" Room. The room was thoroughly cleaned, allowing us to use it comfortably. We had a wheelchair user with us, and it was helpful that the main building was fully accessible by wheelchair. The table height in the dining area was also suitable for wheelchairs, making it convenient. The staff were all friendly and responded kindly with smiles. The large public bath had a sauna, cold bath, and "relaxation chairs," all connected by short paths for efficient use. The chair flooring was made of tatami-like material, which felt pleasant as well. The meals were delicious with just the right portion size, leaving us very satisfied.

    I had a relaxing stay.

Two years ago, I stayed for two nights at Tsuki no Usagi. It was great value for money, but this time I opted for luxury with a one-night stay at Kayu. I reserved a plan with a semi-open-air onsen in the room, and it was absolutely the right choice. Although the bathtub is slightly small, being able to enjoy an onsen anytime is fantastic. The room itself is spacious and comfortable. Dinner was delicious and more than enough in quantity. For shabu-shabu, I chose nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) and anago (conger eel) (the other option was wagyu beef). Additionally, you can select two dishes from five small plates, followed by another dish if you'd like. For the final course, you can choose from chirashi sushi, duck soba noodles with dipping sauce, or plain rice—I went with the soba noodles. With appetizers and other dishes included as well, I felt completely full! Breakfast also offered a wide variety of options and tasted excellent. You can choose between white rice or porridge for your meal. Located within walking distance of Izumo Taisha Shrine, this place is highly recommended for a relaxing stay!

    The difference in hospitality

I wanted to reserve a room with an open-air bath, but it was fully booked, so I stayed in a regular room. The day before, I stayed in a room with an open-air bath at Saginoyu-so (Saginoyuso), and at Kai Tamatsukuri (Kai Tamatsukuri) with an open-air bath. The service was excellent. Here at Kayun (Kayun), perhaps because it was a regular room, there were cast members who provided cold service according to the manual. Mostly female cast members. However, there were also cast members who provided polite service when the location changed. Inconsistency in service makes me uneasy. I will never stay here again.

    A few points of concern

I made a same-day reservation for a guest room with an open-air bath with my mother and used it. During dinner, the person in charge came and explained the first two dishes, but after that, there was no explanation for the hot pot and beyond; they just brought the food, leaving us wondering what to do as we ate. In the middle of our meal, another staff member was explaining dishes to other guests, and we listened to those words while eating. This point left me feeling disappointed as I always use this service. Aside from that point, it was a very good onsen.

    I had a comfortable stay.

The hot bath in the Room (semi-open-air style) was especially great, with easy temperature control. The meals were delicious, and it was quiet and relaxing. When I asked for sightseeing information, the staff kindly provided helpful advice, making my stay enjoyable. Being just a few minutes' walk from Izumo Taisha Shrine was also a big plus.

    This is my second st...

This is my second stay. This time, we stayed at the detached "Hiu" with six people, including children. With growing children, the spacious room was very comfortable for us as parents. The open-air bath in the room was larger than expected, and it was great to be able to enter with the children. Here are some suggestions for improvement: 1. Check-out time (currently 10 AM) → 11 AM With a 10 AM check-out, there isn't much time after breakfast, so a check-out around 11 AM would be appreciated. 2. For breakfast, fewer dishes are fine if they can be homemade as much as possible. The volume is a bit too much for children, and it feels wasteful to leave food behind. The access from Izumo Taisha is good, so I plan to come again.

    The room and the Ons...

The room and the Onsen were both small. I didn't use the room's bath as it was not an Onsen. Overall, it felt like there was a shortage of staff. I think the dinner times being from 5:30 and 8:00 were also due to that. The food was delicious, so I give it 3 stars.

    Overall, I think it'...

Overall, I think it's a very good Hotel, but the bed was uncomfortable, and I couldn't sleep for a long time. The food was delicious, but the miso soup in the morning was lukewarm. No matter how good the taste is, if the soup is lukewarm, it becomes a negative point. It would have been better with more attention to such details.

    Hospitality?

I used it for the first time in about five years. Although the hardware hasn't changed, I felt that the quality of the staff has significantly declined. They can only respond according to the manual and lack the ability to handle irregular situations. Despite paying a considerable amount, this is unacceptable.

    Reflecting on the ancient times

The location within walking distance to Izumo Taisha was very helpful. The room was spacious with a modern Japanese style, allowing us to relax comfortably. We enjoyed the Onsen in the room's bath and the private bath. The meals were luxurious and all delicious. The staff's kind and warm hospitality made our stay pleasant. Due to my lack of understanding, I couldn't figure out how to fill the bath in the room, and only noticed the button's position when leaving. Also, the dining locations were different for dinner and breakfast, and I would have been happier if dinner was served in the same place as breakfast, as I liked the dinner location.
