    We were able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen.

    Although our stay was short due to a late arrival and early departure, we were able to enjoy both the open-air bath in our Room and the two large public baths. The Room was outdoors, unlike what was shown on the website, and I was surprised that there was no view at all; however, it seems first-floor guest rooms are designed that way. Neither of the two large public baths was crowded at night or early in the morning, and both the tubs and washing areas were well cleaned, allowing us to relax. We did not use breakfast, but we were able to enjoy the late-night “Yonaki Soba,” as well as ice cream after bathing. Combined with the convenient location near Izumo Taisha Shrine, it was a stay that made us want to return.

    I was able to relax.

    I stayed here on a solo trip and had a wonderful experience. The Facility and amenities were even more well-equipped than I expected, and I was able to relax as if I were at home. The staff were also very courteous. It was raining heavily, but they lent me an umbrella and their thoughtful care felt truly warm. At the same time, they maintained a comfortable sense of distance—not too close—which made the stay even more pleasant and made me want to come back. On the night of my stay, there was a local kagura performance, and I really enjoyed experiencing the myths. I felt very lucky that it happened to be on that day. This time I booked No Meals Included, so next time I’d love to try the meals as well. With high expectations for the food too, it’s an all 5-star rating from me.

    Early in the morning, we collected sand at Inasa-no-Hama Beach, returned to the Accommodation for breakfast, and then visited Izumo Taisha Shrine. It was great to be able to pray in the quiet morning hours with fewer people. Both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and generous portions, and everything was delicious. The open-air bath in the Room was also very relaxing. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    If you visit expecti...

    If you visit expecting a calm Ryokan, you may be surprised. I enjoyed it as a casual Japanese-style entertainment Accommodation with various services. The location is along a busy, bleak roadside. Perhaps because of that, it felt farther from the station and the shrine than the official information suggests. It should be convenient for those arriving by car. The Room was kept clean and tidy, but one thing disappointed me. I had been looking forward to relaxing in the chair by the window while enjoying the view, but there was a wall right outside the window, and beyond it seemed to be a parking lot. I ended up using the chair as a place to put things. The large public bath isn’t very big, but it wasn’t crowded. It’s nice that it’s available all night. Both breakfast and dinner had plenty of dishes and generous portions—I left completely full.

    A Great Hotel with Plenty of Space

    The Room was spacious, the baths were excellent, and there were plenty of relaxation areas. After-bath ice cream, late-night soba, and private baths were also available. The dining area felt like a maze. The food was delicious as well. Overall, it was a wonderful Accommodation that made us very happy—we’d love to come back.

    A lifetime best experience

    Starting from my student days working as a bellboy and banquet server at the Okura, through my career and even after retirement, I have stayed at many Accommodations in Japan and abroad. The two-night stay at Kakuun was so outstanding that it ranks in my lifetime top five. Not only are the Facilities excellent, but from our communication before the Reservation onward, I felt genuine warmth, thoughtfulness, and dedication to hospitality from every member of the staff. If there is one issue at all, it is that the Accommodation Fee feels almost too low for what you receive. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

    I think this Accommo...

    I think this Accommodation is a good choice for visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine. Since I stayed during Golden Week, the Accommodation Fee was high, and I felt the service and meals did not match the price. The large public bath was also very crowded, and the private baths were almost never available, so it was difficult to relax. During fully booked periods, I would like to see measures such as making the private baths reservation-only.

    Disappointed.

    I have stayed here several times. This time, I had an upsetting issue with the meal, and if I hadn’t said something, even the manager would not have been aware of what happened. It made me feel like it might have been covered up on the spot. I decided I will never go again.

    An Accommodation where your stay itself becomes a special experience, fulfilling everything you desire.

    I requested dinner and breakfast directly with the Accommodation in advance, and the information was well shared, making everything very smooth from check-in to service. Every dish was carefully prepared and delicious, and I’m truly glad I ordered the additional meals. The baths and on-site Facilities were also well equipped, and I never felt inconvenienced during my stay. In addition, the programs offered by the Accommodation are appealing, making it memorable as an “experience,” not just a place to stay. In particular, the special paid temple visit tour held when enough participants join was extremely worthwhile. Thanks to the guide’s detailed explanations, I gained insights and understanding that you simply can’t get from visiting on your own, which greatly deepened the trip. Overall, I was highly satisfied with the service, meals, and experiences alike—an Accommodation I can confidently recommend. I would love to visit again.

    A Trusted Accommodation at Kyoei Resort

    A 7-minute walk from the entrance to the approach to Izumo Taisha Shrine. Great location, an impressive Facility, and attentive service. The food was delicious. Overall, we were very satisfied. Including this property, Kyoei Resort’s Ryokan and Hotels generally offer: (1) a warm welcome at the entrance, with shoes placed in the shoe lockers (after that, you walk on tatami barefoot or in socks); (2) Rooms are Japanese-style but with beds and views of a garden, and staff do not enter your Room unnecessarily—privacy is well protected; (3) dinner and breakfast are served in a dining area rather than in-room, yet it feels like a private room so you can relax; (4) meals are lavish and authentic, with careful service from the attendants; (5) the large public baths are very luxurious—two each for men and women; (6) additionally, there are Kyoei Resort Hotel–style private family baths that do not require a Reservation—anyone can use them anytime if available, even solo—which is great fun (you can enjoy several different private baths on your own if they’re open). Thoughtful extras like late-night soba after dinner and ice cream or lactic acid drinks after bathing were also much appreciated. It may not be ultra top-tier overall, but it’s a reliable, comfortable Ryokan with great food and an enjoyable stay. We would love to return.

    Cozy and Comfortable

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Upon arriving at the parking lot, we were promptly greeted, and our luggage was carried for us. At the accommodation entrance, we were immediately guided to the shoe rack with a warm smile. The welcome drinks and snacks were plentiful, and all the staff provided such pleasant service that it made us feel glad to have chosen this place. Inside the accommodation, we could walk around in socks without needing to put on or take off slippers or shoes, giving a sense of being at home. The room was clean with a view of fields outside the window. We could choose pillows of our preferred height from a pillow station, allowing us to relax comfortably. There was also a coffee set in the room where we could grind beans ourselves; we used it and enjoyed both its aroma filling the room and its delicious taste. It was nice that there were options for dinner and breakfast times so that we could choose what suited us best—we even got to sleep in! The meals came with many dishes lined up beautifully, making them very satisfying. We had been looking forward to enjoying "Yonaki Soba" (late-night ramen) served from 10 PM but unfortunately couldn’t eat it as we were too full—what a pity! Although our stay was after New Year’s holidays had passed, there were still many guests staying here; thus, during busy hours at the large communal bath area’s changing rooms felt crowded when adjacent lockers being used caused some inconvenience—it might have been due simply due timing. Overall though highly satisfied with this accommodation experience! For future trips again considering staying within Kyoritsu Resort properties would be delightful choice indeed! Shortly before checking out however experienced significant earthquake nearby Shimane region reportedly rare occurrence locally hoping no major aftershocks occur praying safety well-being entire staff team sincerely appreciated wonderful hospitality throughout memorable journey shared together

    It was not a Room I would want to stay in.

    Upon arrival by car, parking is self-service in an unusually narrow space requiring extra care. At check-in, the dinner options were surprising: either 5:30 PM or 8:30 PM, seemingly on a shift system. The key was handed over at check-in with no escort to the room, which was unexpected for a Ryokan experience. Entering the room was another shock. Despite its grand name and costing over 100,000 yen per night for two people, it turned out to be modestly sized with a cramped seating area of only about three or four tatami mats and uncomfortable furniture. The private Onsen in the room—a must for us—was also extremely small. Feeling uncomfortable, we left shortly after arriving. Dinner included complimentary beer or cider; however, as I don't drink beer and dislike juice even more, I requested oolong tea instead but was initially refused. Although oolong tea was later served in an ordinary glass cup, it lacked any sense of hospitality and did not improve my impression. The food itself was average. Breakfast service involved waiting about ten minutes upon arrival at the dining area—another first-time experience at a Ryokan. While its proximity to Izumo Taisha Shrine might be considered an advantage, even at half price I would not return due to the lack of comfort and relaxation offered here. Although checkout time is 11 AM, we checked out early around 9 AM due to dissatisfaction with our stay.

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay, and we stayed for one night with our 8-month-old grandchild. The room for my son and his wife had a bouncer and diaper disposal box as requested, but we were especially delighted to find a bouncer and stuffed toys prepared even at the dining area. Thanks to the attentive care of H.N from the service team, we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably. Despite traveling with an infant, we had a stress-free stay. Thank you very much!

    Visiting in the Month of Gods

    This is my sixth stay at Accommodation Koun. I use it as my regular accommodation every year when visiting Izumo Taisha during the Kamiarizuki month. Its location is ideal for worship, with a seamless route to the shrine grounds that becomes more valuable with each stay. The interior maintains a calm and traditional Japanese atmosphere. The cleanliness and tranquility of the guest rooms remain consistent with each visit, giving an impression of well-maintained facilities. The large public bath can be enjoyed in a relaxed manner if you avoid peak hours, and I am very satisfied with the onsen experience, including the private open-air onsen in the room. The staff's service is polite, providing accurate answers to questions and consultations. Meals focus on local ingredients rather than extravagance, offering consistency that allows for peace of mind during every visit. For my purpose of visiting Izumo Taisha during Kamiarizuki, this accommodation minimizes stress in terms of transportation, rest, and environment. It will continue to be one of my top choices for future visits to Izumo.

    We stayed in the "Zu...

    We stayed in the "Zuiun" Room with a private natural Onsen for our visit to Izumo Taisha. The room and furnishings had a calm, modern Japanese design, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing time. Since Izumo Taisha is within walking distance, we walked there for our visit and later enjoyed both the indoor and open-air baths in the room. The open-air bath offered a rustic charm and provided great relaxation after walking around for the shrine visit. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, with each dish being delicious and satisfying. Although breakfast initially seemed like it might be too much, it was so tasty that we finished everything. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Izumo. Thank you very much!

    Exceptional Hospitality

    The hospitality with warm smiles was exceptional. The meals were absolutely delicious. However, the bath area was a bit chilly as the window between the indoor and outdoor baths was open. Additionally, despite it being December, the dressing room had strong air conditioning and fans running, making it uncomfortably cold for everyone.

    The perfect start to your journey

    After a long train journey, I took the Yakumo for the first time and arrived at the accommodation by rental car. The guest room, bath, and meals at the accommodation were all excellent, and the hospitality was kind and attentive. Everything was satisfying, allowing me to drive to my next destination in high spirits. Please continue to delight your guests in the future.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    Visited Izumo Taisha and arrived with tired feet, but the hot spring was excellent. It’s just a 7-8 minute leisurely walk from Izumo Taisha, and having a FamilyMart right in front of the Hotel is very convenient. Shoes are removed at the entrance and stored in lockers. The hallways and bath areas are tatami-floored with underfloor heating. Although I used to dislike tatami flooring in large baths due to concerns about cleanliness, this place was spotless, well-drained, and comfortable. There was also a standing bath available. The meals were elaborate with great variety and portions. I especially enjoyed the sukiyaki for dinner and soy milk hot pot for breakfast. The restaurant staff worked efficiently during both dinner and breakfast without any unnecessary movements. After bathing, there were ice pops (with many flavors) available at night and Yakult in the morning—a delightful service! I would love to stay here again when visiting Izumo someday.     It was great.

    Meals, room, and service were satisfactory. However, the private bath seemed to be shared with Tsuki no Usagi and was always crowded with young people, so we couldn't use it. It would have been perfect if there were considerations such as dividing time slots.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate a 60th birthday with close classmates. Although we arrived during the first meal session, welcome drinks and light snacks were prepared, which was a thoughtful gesture. The large public bath is shared with "Tsuki no Usagi," and my friend mentioned it was crowded, which was a bit disappointing. The much-anticipated meals were as delicious as expected, and the serving timing was perfect. Facilities of Kyoritsu Resort always provide consistent quality, and we are highly satisfied every time we stay.

    A serene and excellent accommodation

    I had a wonderful time during my stay. Before check-in, I left my luggage, and by the time I checked in, it was already delivered to the room. Thanks to this, I could enjoy drinks and snacks in the lobby or browse the shop before heading to my room at a relaxed pace. The room was spacious enough for four adults without feeling cramped. The calm interior design was excellent, and I appreciated thoughtful details like conveniently placed outlets and multiple trash bins exactly where you'd want them. Both dinner and breakfast were visually appealing and delicious, leaving me completely satisfied. For dinner especially, we could choose from several dishes, allowing our family to enjoy different options together. It was great that we could use the large public bath at the adjacent "Tsuki no Usagi," but unfortunately, we couldn't use the private baths as they were fully booked both at night and in the morning due to timing issues—hence my 4-star rating instead of 5 stars. Even though it was a busy holiday weekend with many guests staying over, there was no noise within the facility; everything felt calm and peaceful for a relaxing stay. The staff's service was polite without being intrusive—they noticed when assistance was needed but otherwise allowed us to relax freely at our own pace—a balance that felt very comfortable for me personally. It truly is a lovely accommodation that I'd love to visit again!

    An accommodation you'll want to stay at again and again.

    We stayed for two nights with a 7-month pregnant guest. From the warm welcome to the koi swimming in the pond, it was visually delightful. The Ryokan's interior (except for the dining area) featured tatami flooring, which was simply wonderful. Since we informed them about traveling with a pregnant guest, they kindly grilled sashimi and replaced the aperitif with juice, showing thoughtful consideration that made us very happy. (This request was communicated in advance.) The staff who served our meals had such warm smiles and excellent hospitality that we were already saying on the first evening how much we'd love to come back! All of the food was delicious, and there were options to choose from or get seconds, allowing us to eat to our heart's content. The private bath was free of charge, and by adjusting our timing slightly, we could enjoy it without waiting. After bathing, we could have ice cream—choosing from various flavors—and relax at our own pace. Even though dinner left us full, we also enjoyed late-night ramen noodles and had an amazing time! We will definitely stay here again. It truly is a wonderful Ryokan!

    Accommodation of Hospitality and Connection

    I visited for a solo trip to celebrate my 60th birthday. The reception staff, the person in charge of the kaiseki meal, the massage therapist, and all the staff provided excellent service. The meals were delicious, and I was able to enjoy kaiseki cuisine at a scenic and relaxing seat perfect for one person. The bath and room were also very clean. Staying at this wonderful accommodation on such a memorable day became a great start to a new chapter in my life, and I am grateful for choosing this place. Thank you very much!

    Both the Room and the cuisine, as well as the staff, are absolutely perfect.

    [Heartfelt Hospitality, Thank You] We stayed at the accommodation during our family trip to Izumo. First of all, the staff were kind and attentive, making check-in smooth and pleasant. The food was truly delicious, and the smiles of the staff were wonderful. Each dish was explained clearly. The room was clean, and the view was beautiful. We used a private bath twice and also enjoyed the large bath. Personally, my favorite spots were the café space on the first floor and the scenic area on the fourth floor. Everything was excellent, so we will definitely stay here again next time!

    Experience the hospitality of Izumo at our Hotel.

    We stayed for two nights during our trip to Izumo. It was our first time staying at a ryokan-style hotel from the Dormy Inn chain, and we were impressed by the variety of services that many hotels have recently stopped offering due to cost-cutting measures. From the adorable selection of yukata, welcome drinks (with plenty of options!), private onsen, post-bath ice cream service, to late-night soba noodles—everything was thoughtfully provided. The room was lovely, offering a beautiful view of Izumo's scenery right from the window. We also appreciated the warm greeting upon arrival and attentive service throughout our stay. This is definitely a hotel I would wholeheartedly recommend to friends. If I may point out one issue—it concerns dining. I have a fruit allergy which I mentioned during reservation and reminded again at check-in; however, all the fruits I had noted as inedible were served during dinner, which made me chuckle a bit. Perhaps because I indicated that regular meals would be fine instead of allergy-specific ones, this information wasn’t fully communicated to the restaurant staff? While it wasn’t an issue for me personally as I simply left them uneaten, it would have been nice if they had double-checked beforehand (as servers often do in other places). That said, the food itself was delicious! The portions were quite generous too—our 5-year-old son didn’t need his own meal as we shared ours with him instead—a decision that worked perfectly! They kindly provided white rice for him each time as well, which we greatly appreciated. Despite writing so much here about minor details, there’s no doubt that this stay was truly wonderful overall. Thank you very much for such an enjoyable experience!

    Everything was satisfying!

    Thank you for the wonderful experience! Before dinner, we enjoyed comparing the differences between the two large baths at Tsukiyo no Usagi and Kayu. The private hinoki bath in our room was a delight to use in the morning. We were also deeply impressed by the presentation and taste of both dinner and breakfast. Despite being full, we couldn't resist trying the late-night soba (laughs). Above all, from the warm welcome by the male staff upon arrival to the thoughtful words and care from female staff during meals, every moment from check-in to check-out was filled with heartfelt hospitality. We left for Matsue Castle reluctantly, feeling truly touched by this exceptional hotel. It’s definitely an accommodation worth revisiting! Additionally, thank you so much for celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with kind words and a pair of commemorative chopsticks upon checkout!

    A Journey for a Couple Celebrating Their 60th Birthday

    This is an excellent Facility in every aspect. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath this time, and the Room was so spacious that it felt almost too luxurious for just the two of us. The equipment and amenities were exceptionally well-prepared, and above all, we were extremely satisfied with the open-air bath. Enjoying the open-air bath while viewing the garden was truly delightful, and I thought it would offer various scenic pleasures depending on the season. The staff's thoughtful hospitality allowed us to spend our time comfortably and peacefully. Both dinner and breakfast were highly satisfying; the portions were so generous that we could hardly finish them, but everything was incredibly delicious. We would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine next time. Thank you for your hospitality!
