    Located in Tsumagoi, Gunma Prefecture, Hanaichi is a solitary accommodation nestled in the mountains. It is about a 5-minute drive from Lapin, which I have visited four times before. At first, I thought they might be sister accommodations due to their similar style, but it turns out that the owner of Lapin grew up at Hanaichi—what a delightful connection! Both accommodations are renowned for their cuisine. While Lapin specializes in French dishes, Hanaichi offers exquisite Japanese cuisine. Every dish is delicious and served on an impressive single-slab wooden table that adds to the dining experience. The highlight of both places is undoubtedly their Onsen. While Lapin uses hot spring water sourced near Lake Baragi with its unique qualities, Hanaichi has its own distinct source located right next to the entrance. The hot spring water here contains an exceptionally high concentration of dissolved minerals at 5450mg/kg and is entirely natural—no disinfection, no circulation system, and no added water; it's pure 100% natural flow directly from the source. Surprisingly salty despite being deep in the mountains, this Onsen offers an extraordinary bathing experience worth visiting for on its own. Be sure to try it!

    The room, cuisine, and Onsen are all excellent!

    Stayed in the special room "Miyako Wasure," with the open-air bath window fully opened. The small garden was well-maintained, and I was surprised to find a TV included! The room was thoroughly cleaned, and I enjoyed a relaxing and pleasant time while admiring the view of Mount Asama and the rural landscape from the room. The meals featured local ingredients, with highlights being the ayu sashimi, Akagi chicken meatball soup, and grilled eggplant dish—absolutely exceptional. This is a ryokan I would love to visit again!

    The meals are excellent!

    I had been wanting to visit for years, and finally, my wish came true with this reservation. Located in a peaceful countryside area, I was able to relax both body and mind. The BOSE sound system in the room provided soft BGM, and the private onsen open-air bath was incredibly pleasant. I had high expectations for the food, but it exceeded them with its deliciousness. The adorable cat that greeted and saw us off at the accommodation added a special touch. I would love to visit again during a different season!

    Highly Satisfied

    I visit Karuizawa every year, but it had been 10 years since my last stay at Hanai. I was completely satisfied with everything, including the room, meals, onsen, and service. The calm atmosphere allowed me to truly relax. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again soon. On departure, I was even seen off by the cat I wanted to meet, which made me very happy. I will definitely return!

    Excellent Accommodation

    After 7 years, we visited again and found the meals, room, bath, and service to be excellent. We had a pleasant stay as a couple. We would love to make another reservation!

    The meals are excellent.

    I stayed at this accommodation for the first time around the same time last year. I was drawn back by how delicious the meals were and decided to stay again. Since I love Onsen, I enjoyed soaking in my private Onsen and indulging in delicious food—truly a perfect experience. It's rare to find an accommodation where every dish is so tasty, but here, both breakfast and dinner were exceptional. Even though my appetite has decreased with age, I finished everything on my plate. There aren't many tourist spots nearby, so this time I stayed without any other purpose. However, on my way home, I stopped by a local vegetable market recommended by the accommodation staff and managed to purchase a rare cabbage variety called "419," which we enjoyed at home.

    Everything was absolutely satisfying this time as well. The meals were delicious, the staff at the accommodation were kind, and the atmosphere allowed for a relaxing stay. I would love to visit again to see the adorable cats.

    The surrounding countryside scenery was stunning, offering a peaceful and tranquil rural atmosphere that allowed for complete relaxation. The food was also incredibly delicious. A beautiful and well-mannered cat warmly welcomed us, adding to the charm of our stay.

    A Ryokan with delicious meals.

    See you again!

    This is my second visit. I was impressed by the delicious meals last time, and this time I was even more amazed. I would love to come back again for the food. The Facility is old but well-maintained and clean, making it comfortable. However, the bath in the Room was a reclining bath, which was a bit disappointing. Next time, I would like to stay in a different Room. I'll be back again!

    I was very satisfied!!

    The spacious Western-style Room with a fireplace and a Japanese-style Room with a tokonoma (alcove) also had a massage chair. Although it was a chilly day outside, the interior was very warm, allowing us to spend our time comfortably. The en-suite bath had a spacious tub with just the right temperature, and we made full use of it during our stay. Meals were served in a private dining area, and we thoroughly enjoyed the heartfelt and truly delicious dishes. Both the quality and quantity were excellent. We were so satisfied that we felt one night's stay was too short. My spouse and I agree that we would love to visit again.

    I had a very relaxing and fulfilling stay with a room bath fed by a natural hot spring in a wonderful location overlooking Mt. Asama. The meals were prepared with meticulous care and were truly delicious, leaving a lasting impression. The staff were kind, and it has become a property I would definitely like to visit again.

    It was amazing!!

    I stayed here for the first time in five years. Everything was great. A cat came to visit our room, and my spouse and I were completely soothed by everything. We will visit again!!
