    A wonderful, relaxing place in every way.

    The cuisine was outstanding. Each dish conveyed the chef’s heartfelt hospitality and was truly exquisite. Local ingredients were crafted into wonderful flavors. A taste that even supports the local community—I ended up buying local products at roadside stations on the way home. The Onsen was also excellent, and I could faintly see stars from the open-air bath in my Room. The view from the Room, comparable to a panoramic route, was also great. The cats were adorable too.

    Accommodation with Cats

    A friendly cat was there, and it was very soothing. Also, the meals were wonderful. They were carefully prepared dishes that reflected the chef’s personality. The open-air bath in the Room was also free-flowing and very relaxing, and the private bath was spacious and excellent as well. The Ryokan is not new, but it was thoroughly cleaned throughout, so we had a very comfortable stay. It’s a Ryokan I would like to visit again.

    It was very good.

    It was wonderful. The Room was spacious, and the in-room Onsen was excellent—I enjoyed it many times. The private bath had no time limit, and I could use it anytime as long as it was available, which made me very satisfied. The staff greeted me with smiles. Above all, every meal was delicious and made me feel truly happy. I have stayed at various Accommodations before, but I think this one was the best. During my stay, I already wanted to come back again. It was truly great. Thank you very much.

    As always, we thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful meals. We also had the chance to spend time with the cats and had a truly delightful stay. We love the cabbage fields visible from our Room.     A cozy Accommodation where the hostess’s warm personality shines through.

    I stayed here before and liked it so much that this is my second visit. Once again, I left feeling satisfied, thinking, “I’m so glad I came!” It’s not new, but the Accommodation is kept clean and well maintained, making it very comfortable. A cute cat and the kind-smiling hostess welcome you. One Room is currently being renovated, and I can’t wait to see it finished.

    We stayed as a family of three. We were looking forward to relaxing and recovering from our daily fatigue. It met our expectations—and more—with wonderful hospitality, and we were very satisfied with both the meals and the Onsen. We would definitely like to stay again.

    It’s a shame you couldn’t meet the cat.

    Last time, the farewell kitty was so adorable that I came back again the following month, but sadly the cat wasn’t there. As always, the food was absolutely delicious, and I’m truly impressed.     It was a very satisf...

    It was a very satisfying Ryokan. The meals and tableware were especially wonderful. The staff worked very hard, which made our stay pleasant. However, one thing: the futon cover is designed to wrap a single sheet, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. It’s hard to explain, but people who work at a Ryokan will understand. In any case, thank you very much.

    Just as described in the Review

    Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Everything was prepared with great care—hot dishes served hot, and cold dishes served cold. The main filet steak was tender and excellent. The Onsen on the first floor, second floor, and in our room were all at just the right temperature, so we could relax and unwind. We also appreciated the complimentary drinks in the fridge and the homemade pudding—thank you for your thoughtful hospitality. We enjoyed having coffee in the lounge while reading the books provided. The cute ornaments and flowers throughout the property, along with a slightly chubby cat relaxing around the building, made us smile. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    I’m a complete repeat guest.

    Even though it takes 3.5 hours to drive from Tokyo, I’ve already come back 7 or 8 times just to stay at this Ryokan because I fell in love with the cats and the food. The meals, in particular, are simple rather than like those at a high-end restaurant, yet they are served with genuine care and warmth.

    It’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again!

    The meals were exquisitely delicious—almost like works of art—and the staff kindly explained how everything was prepared. This is the first Ryokan in Japan that has moved me this much. The area was peaceful and quiet, and meeting the adorable cats was truly soothing. The Onsen was also outstanding! We’ll be back!

    The Best Golden Week

    We stayed here at short notice as a group of four women on a family trip. This Accommodation is set among fields, and the Room, bath, and service were all outstanding. Above all, the meals were truly delicious. Even my daughter, who usually eats very little, finished everything and was impressed. The cats were adorable too. It took us nearly seven hours to arrive after getting stuck in Golden Week traffic from home, but this is an Accommodation we will definitely visit again.

    Staying at the long-awaited Accommodation was wonderful.

    I had long hoped to stay at this Accommodation ever since I reluctantly had to cancel at the last minute due to my husband’s work. This time, I finally visited with my 91-year-old mother, just the two of us. It isn’t flashy, but it is wonderfully comfortable. My mother was deeply impressed by the view of the fields from the window and even from the bath in our Room, and even by the small path beyond them. The meals were also outstanding, beautifully presented on lovely tableware. In particular, we were delighted by the salt-grilled char—never did we imagine we could enjoy it like that—and it was so delicious we could even eat it right down to the bones. We also learned that this is the owner’s family home of Lapan, which is also very popular. Though Japanese and Western styles are different, I found myself thinking, “So this is where that sense of comfort comes from,” and it all made perfect sense. We would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.

    The meals are outstanding!!

    Among all the Accommodations I have stayed at, the cuisine here was easily one of the best. In a Room filled with jazz, a variety of beautifully presented dishes served on lovely tableware—every single one was exquisite. Truly wonderful. Of course, the hospitality of all the staff, the Room, and the Onsen were also very pleasant. I would definitely love to visit again.

    Sincere hospitality, cuisine, Onsen, and cats

    I stayed here because I wanted to enjoy the Onsen on my own. A small Accommodation, with meals served in a lovely private dining room. The paintings throughout the building were bold and beautifully colored—nature and flowers in a style I like—and it was great to see so many works by the same artist. Dinner was very delicious, and even the palate-cleansing jelly was just right for a body warmed by the Onsen—not ice-cold like granita. I also liked that the meat was tenderloin rather than heavily marbled, which suits my taste. The Onsen temperature was comfortable enough to soak for a long time. I enjoyed both the in-Room Onsen and two private reservable Onsens as well. The massage chair in the Room was amazing. I was tired, so I used it constantly. The next morning, I got to meet the cats too—they were adorable. Uni-chan even climbed onto my lap. The garden and all the flowers and plants inside were charming and soothing as well. This is an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

    I will definitely visit again!

    After wrapping up work and needing to unwind, I made a Reservation for a spacious Room. With a semi-open-air bath, massage chair, large sofa, big TV, and a dining set, I was completely satisfied. The friendly, adorable cat was also very soothing. And above all, the meals were simply delicious! I’d love to visit again during the season for corn rice!

    A secluded Accommodation standing alone amid rice fields.

    But once you step inside, it feels like another world—like a hidden paradise. It’s a small Ryokan with only seven rooms, so the space is limited, but every detail is thoughtfully crafted, making it comfortable wherever you are. I arrived after 3:00 PM via the Shuttle Service, and then spent a luxurious afternoon—gently swaying in the egg-shaped swing chair on my Room terrace, absentmindedly watching the fields with a beer in hand, and hopping between private baths. When I headed to my private dining room for dinner, the charming space lit by the fireplace glow felt wonderfully magical—I was truly moved. And the food was just as impressive—so delicious it made me want to return just for the meals. The Onsen was outstanding, and the service was warm. It’s not overly attentive in an intrusive way, but everything is perfectly balanced and genuinely relaxing. I’m sincerely grateful. The cats, Uni-chan and Shio-chan, were friendly and absolutely adorable. It was truly wonderful—I had such a happy time.

    An Accommodation that satisfies both your appetite and your heart, with exceptional hospitality

    Thank you for taking care of us on our anniversary trip. The proprietress and all the staff were truly pleasant and welcoming. We were deeply impressed to see how much everyone seemed to enjoy their roles. We made our Reservation at “Hanaichi” after reading Reviews, so we had high expectations for the service and food, and it was a wonderful Accommodation just as described—especially the cuisine, which exceeded our imagination. The private dining room atmosphere, tableware, presentation, flavor, timing of each course, and explanations of every dish were perfect. We would love to visit again in a different season.     With snow-capped Mount Asama as a backdrop, this was a wonderfully cozy Onsen Accommodation. The food was delicious, and the warm hospitality from the proprietress and staff was outstanding. Perhaps the fact that there are only eight rooms makes it even better. The cats’ welcome was also delightful.

    This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again.

    My husband and I stayed here together. There is a gentle, adorable cat in the Accommodation. It is an Accommodation with a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The Room is not new by any means, but it was very well cleaned. I usually never walk barefoot (I can’t stand the feeling of roughness under my feet), but after bathing I could walk around barefoot because the Room was so clean. The in-room Onsen was temperature-controlled, and I enjoyed long soaks many times with the bathroom window slightly open. The water was excellent. To be honest, I was surprised by how high-quality the food was. I apologize for saying this, but I had expected simple country-style cooking; in a good way, it exceeded my expectations. The dishes were faithful to the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine yet clearly showcased skill, and it was my first time having such delicious grilled yamame trout. My husband became unwell during our stay—thank you very much for all your kindness and consideration. We would definitely like to visit again.

    Accommodation offering a unique sense of healing

    This Ryokan is located in the middle of fields, not in an onsen town. We were picked up at JR Manza-Kazawaguchi Station. The entrance is small but elegant, with a warm fireplace by the sofa that immediately soothes you with its aroma. The room itself has a traditional Ryokan design, but fresh flowers are beautifully arranged in the alcove, and the toilet and washroom are separate, clean, and functional. The private bath attached to the room is heated during this season and feels very pleasant. The onsen water has a salty quality that warms you up thoroughly. The large public bath can be reserved for private use. On this particular day, we were the only guests staying at the accommodation, so we had it entirely to ourselves. The indoor bath was warm while the outdoor open-air bath was refreshing—both provided ultimate relaxation. Except during cleaning times, guests can enjoy both private baths and large public baths anytime during their stay. One of this accommodation's highlights is undoubtedly its cuisine, as many others have also praised it highly. Each dish is carefully prepared and deliciously crafted with seasonal ingredients as well as classic staples given unique twists. For our age group, there was more food than we could finish (my companion regretted having to leave some behind). Despite being told that there are fewer guests during this season, they went all out for us even though our reservation was made last minute—we truly appreciated their efforts to showcase everything their accommodation offers fully! Both pricing and high ratings from other visitors felt justified. Another charm of this Ryokan lies in its family-like management style—the staff maintain a perfect balance between warmth and professionalism in their interactions with guests. Even friendly cats made an appearance towards the end of our stay—a delightful touch that added further comfort! We received a thoughtful send-off from them before safely boarding our train home again; we'd love to return someday soon. If I may suggest one improvement: beverages available in-room could be enhanced slightly—while drinks inside refrigerators were complimentary (e.g., one 350ml beer or happoshu per person), providing enough for all occupants would be appreciated (preferably beer instead of happoshu). Additionally—as it's an onsen destination—guests might want beer after evening baths too; although service ends by 9:30 PM currently perhaps introducing self-service options like filling out forms voluntarily would help address late-night cravings better!

    The meals were excellent.

    The Ryokan is located in a rural area surrounded by houses, rice fields, and farmland, so there isn't much of a view, but the night sky was incredibly beautiful. I stayed in a Room with a fireplace and enjoyed the scent of burning firewood. The private bath in the Room was spacious and featured flowing hot spring water, which was very satisfying. While the Room itself was great, the meals were even better. I felt that many repeat guests might visit specifically for the food. This time, I could only see empty fields after cabbage harvesting, but next time I'd like to revisit to see the fields before harvest. Thank you!

    I chose this Ryokan to celebrate my wife and son's birthdays because many reviews mentioned how delicious the food was. Both dinner and breakfast were not just meals—they were works of art.     The meals were absolutely outstanding!

    I decided to visit with my mother after reading the great reviews. The staff were wonderful, providing calm and attentive service without making us feel rushed! The luxurious abalone plan was absolutely delicious, with every dish being a delight. We were impressed by the use of seasonal ingredients like chestnuts and sweet potatoes, as well as local brand ingredients that made the dishes truly special.     Located in Tsumagoi, Gunma Prefecture, Hanaichi is a solitary accommodation nestled in the mountains. It is about a 5-minute drive from Lapin, which I have visited four times before. At first, I thought they might be sister accommodations due to their similar style, but it turns out that the owner of Lapin grew up at Hanaichi—what a delightful connection! Both accommodations are renowned for their cuisine. While Lapin specializes in French dishes, Hanaichi offers exquisite Japanese cuisine. Every dish is delicious and served on an impressive single-slab wooden table that adds to the dining experience. The highlight of both places is undoubtedly their Onsen. While Lapin uses hot spring water sourced near Lake Baragi with its unique qualities, Hanaichi has its own distinct source located right next to the entrance. The hot spring water here contains an exceptionally high concentration of dissolved minerals at 5450mg/kg and is entirely natural—no disinfection, no circulation system, and no added water; it's pure 100% natural flow directly from the source. Surprisingly salty despite being deep in the mountains, this Onsen offers an extraordinary bathing experience worth visiting for on its own. Be sure to try it!
