It was an elegant stay.
We enjoyed a “staycation,” with lounge hopping across four lounges as the main highlight. First, we walked from Shinagawa Station to the Hotel, but IKYU’s directions said “cross Daiichi Keihan…,” so we crossed the signal right after exiting the Takanawa Exit. However, the route to the right after crossing was blocked due to construction, so we had to turn back. After exiting the Takanawa Exit, it’s best to turn right and walk along Daiichi Keihan, then turn left at the first traffic light onto Sakura-zaka. Alternatively, since it’s a continuous uphill slope, I think taking the shuttle bus would be a good option. We visited all four lounges, and as expected, Hana-Kouro’s lounge was the most relaxing; the drinks were also of higher quality and excellent. The champagne during cocktail time—and Dassai—was a real treat. We also enjoyed tasting different sake. There were some light bites during cocktail time, but it would have been even better if there had been additional hors d’oeuvres. Breakfast was delicious as well. It was our first time trying a matcha grinding experience, and we really enjoyed it. At the lounge, the staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness throughout without being intrusive, which made it very comfortable. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He loves anything that feels special, and he was truly delighted. Thank you as well for the thoughtful care from all the staff. We were pleasantly surprised to find Dassai available as a nightcap drink! The vegetable chips were also delicious. Thank you very much for everything—we would love to visit again.

Experience a Ryokan stay in the heart of the city.
This was my first return in about three years. If you want to fully enjoy the lounges, Hanakohro is unbeatable since you can visit all four. The Room was very spacious, with fresh flowers arranged, and complimentary drinks in the refrigerator—everything was thoughtfully provided and truly wonderful. The only drawback might be the view from the Room. This time I made a Reservation for one of the lower-tier Rooms because my goal was lounge-hopping, but if you care strongly about the view, I recommend booking a Room with “Garden” in its name. All four lounges were unique and fun. As expected, Hanakohro offers the highest quality across food, sweets, and alcohol. After visiting a few places, I ended up having drinks at Hanakohro most of the time. The champagne was Laurent-Perrier, and they had Dassai 23 sake. Sakura Tower also had Dassai 39, but it’s completely different—Dassai 23 has a far better aroma and sweetness. The food is on another level as well: each carefully prepared item is beautifully plated on small dishes that are vibrant and elegant—a feast for the eyes. I also loved the black soybean sweets in the lounge; they weren’t overly sweet and were delicious. One thing to note: Hanakohro’s lounge doesn’t have a view, so if you’d like to enjoy drinks while looking out over the garden, I recommend the lounge at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in the same building (photo #4). For breakfast you can choose between dining in the lounge or in-room service—and having it served in your Room is such a treat. Enjoying an elaborate breakfast while still in pajamas feels incredibly luxurious! You can pair it with sparkling wine or beer from your refrigerator as well. It felt quite different from typical Hotel room service—perhaps because of the tatami flooring and Ryokan atmosphere. It hardly feels like you’re in central Tokyo. I hope to return again.

A wonderful Hotel with impeccable hospitality in a Ryokan (Hotel)
It’s a shame the title can’t fully capture it—“Hanakohro” is a wonderful Hotel within a Ryokan (Hotel), combining impeccable hospitality with outstanding Facilities. Located within the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa, one of the most established properties in Japan’s leading hotel group, Prince Hotels, Hanakohro offers a deeply immersive experience of Japanese hospitality. The appealing service of a Japanese Ryokan—close yet never intrusive—blends beautifully with the comfort and security of a Hotel, and at Hanakohro this balance truly comes into bloom. It feels as though it leaves both international and Japanese guests genuinely moved. What I felt most strongly had further “evolved” and “deepened” since my previous stay was the addition of a new step-up entrance in the Sakura-iro lounge. In traditional Japanese homes, this kind of entrance marks the boundary between outside and inside. Taking off your shoes there before stepping up may seem inconvenient at first, but seeing both overseas guests and Japanese guests do so uniformly before receiving hospitality made it feel as though everyone experienced an indescribable sense of release and relaxation. This is only one example, but I could sense thoughtful attention to detail everywhere. And not only in terms of what’s tangible—the hospitality itself has become even more refined. I was truly touched that Mr./Ms. K, who assisted me on my last visit, remembered me and even recalled what we spoke about then. And Mr./Ms. N’s attentive care during this stay left both my wife and me deeply impressed by their warmth and character. Of course I understand it’s impossible to remember every guest when welcoming so many each day—but when you can feel that someone remembers you even a little, it is incredibly moving as a guest. There must be difficult moments given all kinds of guests, but seeing everyone work with pride felt genuinely beautiful. I would like to once again express how wonderful this stay was for both my wife and me.

We had a wonderful time.
We visited to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everything was wonderful—the Room, the meals, and the lounge activities—and we were able to spend a truly happy time. Above all, the staff were exceptional. In particular, we are sincerely grateful to Mr./Ms. T for delivering an item we had left behind and kindly giving us directions to our destination despite being busy, and to Mr./Ms. K for the thoughtful attention at check-in. We also have allergies and caused some inconvenience, but thanks to your support we were able to enjoy every dish deliciously. My mother was very pleased as well. Thank you very much.

My mother, my daught...
My mother, my daughter, and I stayed here together as three generations. From storing our luggage at the counter when we arrived early to seeing us off at departure, every service was excellent. My daughter also felt completely at ease and was truly delighted. I also cherish Hotel stays with my mother as a way of showing appreciation, and she was very happy as well. We have made Reservations here over the past few years, and Prince Hotel continues to impress us every time. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

A Luxurious Time to Savor at Hanakoro
My first stay of the year at Hanakohro was in early February, as an early birthday celebration. What I looked forward to most was, without a doubt, the birthday cake. In addition to a wheat allergy, I have various dietary restrictions, and Hanakohro is the only Hotel that can prepare a cake that meets every requirement. I was deeply impressed by how wonderful it was last year, so my expectations were even higher this time. Then came an even more gorgeous whole cake than last year’s, beautifully decorated with red roses… and of course, both the flavor and texture were outstanding. I was filled with such emotion and joy that I couldn’t help murmuring, “I’m so glad to be alive!” I am truly grateful to the pastry chefs who created this one-of-a-kind cake, to the dependable manager who handled even my detailed requests perfectly, and to all the staff who never forget their spirit of hospitality. It all begins with everyone’s warm smiles as they welcome me back each time: seasonal nerikiri sweets and matcha as welcome treats; from dusk, lounge-hopping around Hotels in the Takanawa area; returning to Sakurazaka for heartfelt conversation with everyone along with cocktail time and a nightcap; then a nighttime stroll illuminated by beautiful bamboo lights before bed… The next day starts with a relaxing Japanese breakfast enjoyed at leisure in my calm guest room. After that, I feel the changing seasons through the plants and flowers in the Japanese garden—and finally savor a special gold-leaf shiramitzu anmitsu while reluctantly saying goodbye. That beloved routine heals me completely before I head home. My next stay is planned for early spring. I do wonder if Takanawa’s cherry blossoms might have already fallen… but there is no doubt that whenever I visit, I can fully enjoy a rich and fulfilling time. I’m already looking forward to it.

Truly worthy of five stars.
I had been using the word “hospitality” without really thinking about it, but when I looked it up again, I realized it was exactly what I experienced at Hanakoro. I was truly moved by the heartfelt, intuitive service. Seeing international guests in the lounge, I couldn’t help thinking they must have been amazed by Japanese hospitality too—and for some reason, it made me feel proud. The Room amenities, toiletries, towels, and bathroom all felt high quality, yet everything was understated and easy to use. The Diamond member benefits were also exceptionally generous. I fully enjoyed the beautiful garden and lounge hopping, and had a wonderful staycation.

My Favorite Hotel
Staying at Kakorou lets you visit the lounges at each Prince Hotel on the property. Each has its own character and is interesting, but I like the Kakorou lounge best. This time, I chose a Japanese breakfast served in my Room. It was truly relaxing, and I had a wonderful time. The sake tasting set was also excellent—delicious and fun. Thank you to all the staff. One disappointment was that the chocolate shop that used to be there is gone and has been replaced by Tully’s. Since we also received Hotel credit, it would be great to have not only cookie tins but also a chocolate shop or bread sales available as well. Please consider it.

We stayed here with our children.
The Room was so spacious that it hardly felt like a Hotel in Tokyo, and we were able to relax enough to forget the hustle and bustle of the city. We truly appreciate your thoughtful hospitality and consideration for our children. We were a little unsure whether the toilet had ventilation, which was slightly inconvenient.

Supreme Hospitality and the Elegance of a Luxury Ryokan
I revisited with my mother after a long time, and we were deeply impressed by the unchanged (or even enhanced) hospitality of everyone. It was a rare and healing experience to enjoy the serene atmosphere of a high-class Ryokan, despite being in the heart of Tokyo. As it was just after New Year's, we were warmly greeted with "We look forward to serving you again this year," which made us feel like we had returned home—such a delightful feeling. The items I requested in advance were perfectly prepared, and from check-in to check-out, we were able to relax completely. Thank you so much for everything. Since my mother loves this place, we would love to visit again!

The stay during the ...
The stay during the Obon holiday was so comfortable that we revisited for our annual New Year trip. We always appreciate the relaxing lounge and excellent service. I love the lounge where Dassai 23 sake is freely available! Thank you for all the thoughtful arrangements, including allowing us a late check-out, which made it easy to relax until check-in at our next Hotel. The only downside was during breakfast in the Room when construction started directly below (?), causing loud noise and unpleasant vibrations for an extended period. It would have been better if there had been prior notice or consideration of timing. However, even with that, it was a very satisfying stay for our family!

Experience the Finest Hospitality
This year, I decided early on to celebrate my husband's birthday with a stay at Hanakohro, where we could enjoy four different club lounges. Personally, I was very excited about staying at this hotel, which has received the highest rating in the Forbes Travel Guide for five consecutive years. Sometimes when you have high expectations for a stay, it can be slightly disappointing once you're there—but as expected of a five-star hotel, it lived up to its reputation and was truly exceptional. We stayed in what is probably one of the coziest rooms at Hanakohro. Although we didn’t have a view of the Japanese garden from our window, we were able to relax in an elegant Japanese-style setting. The hospitality at Lounge Osai was particularly memorable; with matcha served as a welcome drink, it evoked the atmosphere of traditional tea ceremonies. The staff’s calm demeanor reminded me of tea ceremony hosts or assistants. Time seemed to flow more slowly here compared to other areas. During cocktail hour, there was an earthquake that startled some international guests who looked concerned right after it happened. However, the staff calmly explained the situation and everyone soon returned to enjoying their food and drinks as if nothing had happened. We also enjoyed sake tasting while savoring beautifully presented and delicious appetizers. During turndown service, they left us a card with the next day’s weather forecast—a thoughtful touch that I always appreciate during stays like this. In my experience so far, accommodations that provide such details never disappoint. Since it was our first time visiting Lounge Osai, we focused on spending time there during our lounge-hopping experience. We had already visited the other three lounges before but noticed something new—beer dispensers had been added since our last visit! While we mainly enjoyed sake this time around, my husband went down to another lounge after his bath for draft beer from one of these dispensers. Of course, canned beer is available in Lounge Osai too—and all beverages in your room's refrigerator are complimentary at Hanakohro—but there's something special about having draft beer straight from a dispenser. As usual during my stays here, I skipped using our room's bath and instead headed over to Sakura Tower’s blower bath facilities again this time around—they’re compact yet well-designed with two types of saunas available too! The illuminated garden views were stunning as always—it reminded me how much fun lounge-hopping can be here at Takanawa's hotels! A heartfelt thank you goes out once again towards all staff members who made everything so enjoyable throughout our stay!

The Joy of Hanakaro's Presence
This time, we visited after about two months to celebrate my husband's birthday. Originally, we wanted to stay in October, his birthday month, but due to our busy schedule, we postponed it to early November. Seasonally, the main Japanese garden illumination was right after Halloween and still too early for Christmas decorations, which felt a bit lonely. Additionally, the autumn specialty chestnut sweets had already ended by then—making it slightly disappointing timing. Even so, thanks to the heartfelt hospitality of all the staff as always, a relaxing Room where we could feel at ease, and delicious meals that I could safely enjoy despite my allergies—we were able to fully enjoy another fulfilling stay as usual. The towel art and gift for my husband's birthday celebration were beautifully arranged with Hanakohro's signature touch of elegance. Moreover, this time they made plenty of time for us to chat with the manager who always takes care of us—it became an even more memorable and special experience for my husband. We are truly grateful for your warm consideration every time. It is such a joy that there is a place in Tokyo where one can relax this much. We look forward to Hanakohro remaining unchanged in its charm in the future as well. Our next visit will be at the beginning of next year; however, we are already looking forward to spending healing moments at our beloved Hanakohro again in 2026!

It was comfortable this time as well!
I revisited after a few years because I had a great experience before. From the entrance of Hotel Takanawa before checking in at Hanakohro to leaving Takanawa after checkout, I received excellent service from all the staff at every location. This time, I stayed with my elderly mother in a calm and comfortable Room and enjoyed using the lounge as well. Breakfast was served in the Room, featuring a luxurious Japanese set meal that was absolutely delicious. I look forward to visiting again!

A Wonderful Birthday Gift
We had a wonderful time during our previous stay as a family of three, so this time we stayed as a couple to celebrate a birthday. We had another fulfilling two days and were very pleased with the experience. From lounge hopping to strolling through the garden, there was so much to do that time felt short. The lounge at Hanakohro was particularly comfortable, allowing us to relax and enjoy ourselves fully. The thoughtful gestures from the staff, such as bringing us a sightseeing map of the hotel surroundings after chatting in the lounge or gifting us aroma oil inspired by conversations about fragrances in the facility, were truly heartwarming. All staff members greeted us with warm smiles that made our stay even more pleasant. Although we usually don’t have Japanese-style breakfast, it was delicious and enjoyable to have it leisurely in our room. Room service also accommodated an earlier preparation considering our check-out time, allowing us to enjoy our meal without any rush. We heard that cherry blossoms are beautiful in spring—we left thinking how much we’d love to visit again during that season. Thank you very much!

In June, my wife and I stayed at your accommodation and experienced a high standard of service in many aspects. Based on that experience, we decided to visit again as a family of four to celebrate our second son's birthday. As a result, we reaffirmed that our decision was the right one. Unparalleled Hospitality
Recently, I stayed at "Hanakohro" within the Takanawa Prince Hotel. Upon arrival, check-in was conducted in an exclusive lounge where you remove your shoes, offering a relaxing atmosphere reminiscent of a Ryokan. The welcome sweets included charming Japanese confections shaped like green plums, which brought a sense of calmness. The room I was guided to featured spacious tatami flooring and provided a serene ambiance that made it hard to believe I was in Shinagawa. Outside the window stretched the beautiful garden of Takanawa Prince Hotel, accompanied by the sound of cicadas—offering a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The interior, bathroom, and toilet were all designed with ample space. The bathtub and sink appeared to be made of enamel with their smooth texture and excellent heat retention—a feature I had long admired—and enjoying this bathtub was truly delightful. In the lounge, sweets centered around Japanese confections were served individually by staff members in a calm setting. During evening time, intricate dishes paired with sake were savored; breakfast was served in-room as well. The colorful breakfast resembling a treasure box delighted both my eyes and palate—a luxurious start to the day. While access to various lounges within Takanawa Prince Hotel is appealing, "Hanakohro" stands out as exceptional. Spending time solely here felt most rejuvenating. It is highly recommended for those seeking an elegant Japanese experience away from urban noise. It was an accommodation experience wrapped in tranquility and traditional Japanese charm amidst the city’s chaos.

Experience the ultimate Ryokan atmosphere while staying in Tokyo!
During the scorching heat, when traveling far is tough but you still want to relax, I stayed here with my mother. As it becomes increasingly difficult for my elderly mother to travel long distances, this place allowed us to enjoy the Ryokan atmosphere while staying in Tokyo. Additionally, it features a Japanese-style room with beds—an ideal and comfortable space for seniors. From check-in to check-out, the staff were incredibly attentive, allowing us to spend a relaxing and pleasant time. I look forward to visiting again in a different season!

Delighted by the heartwarming surprise!
At the end of August, I visited Hanakouro for the first time in about a month. It wasn’t for any particular anniversary; I simply wanted to enjoy another relaxing stay. However, upon entering the Room, I was greeted with a delightful surprise! A beautiful swan towel art created by the manager, who always takes great care of us, welcomed me on the bed along with a "Happy Wedding Anniversary" message. Our wedding anniversary is actually in September, so while we had planned to celebrate it at Hanakouro next month, this early celebration touched my heart deeply. Since the season hadn’t changed yet during this visit, both the type of nerikiri sweets and the Japanese garden’s light-up theme remained summery as before. However, I plan to revisit soon to fully enjoy Hanakouro’s autumn atmosphere. The warm hospitality from all staff members that never changes, the elegant and spacious Room that feels calm and refined, and meals that are safe for someone like me with food allergies—I’m already looking forward to my next time at Hanakouro!

It was a wonderful time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Within walking distance from Shinagawa Station, stepping into the premises feels like entering a serene space far removed from the bustling city. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional, allowing for a truly relaxing two-day stay away from daily noise and stress. However, due to the season, I was bitten by mosquitoes in over 10 spots after strolling through the garden. If you plan to take a walk, we recommend using insect repellent for protection.

I stayed at this hotel as a belated birthday treat, having been interested in it for some time. With many high-rated reviews, I was looking forward to my stay, and it met my expectations. The staff were all friendly and very kind, making me feel like I was at a luxury ryokan despite being in the city center. As an elderly couple, we didn’t explore many lounges but were fully satisfied with the lounge at Hanakohro. However, my husband mentioned that it was a bit disappointing there wasn’t a draft beer server available. Additionally, perhaps out of consideration for guests’ privacy, access to drinks or sweets required stepping outside the lounge area, which felt slightly inconvenient. That said, the room was spacious and comfortable with plenty of amenities and towels provided for a hassle-free stay. My daughter joined us later in the evening, and we enjoyed strolling through the beautifully lit garden together—it was truly delightful. Since my daughter couldn’t visit many lounges this time around due to our limited schedule, she expressed her desire to explore more on our next visit. We would love to stay here again! If the president is present, they deserve a certificate of commendation.
I have visited various club lounges, but this is the first time I’ve experienced such hospitality and delicious Japanese sweets that change every time. At Lounge Sakura-Sai, the staff always provide a hand towel upon arrival, and you can enjoy plenty of matcha tea. There’s no other lounge like this with such a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Above all, I received a heartfelt illustrated letter from the staff at the end of my visit. Even though I casually mentioned my love for art in conversation, they responded with a smile and took the time to create an illustrated letter despite their busy schedule—please give this person an award! The breakfast was also beautifully presented and delicious. My gratitude goes to both the head chef and perhaps even a wagashi artisan? The service here is truly exceptional in every way. This is the only accommodation where they prepare water and ice during turndown service in your room. Such thoughtful gestures are deeply appreciated. The garden illumination was beautiful.
This time, we stayed at a hotel we often visit for events and seminars, as it was offered at a special rate on IKYU. We stayed as a couple on a weekday. Since I had work until 3 PM on the first day, we enjoyed lounge hopping right after arriving. The garden illumination at night was very beautiful and would likely be highly rated by international guests. However, the room seemed to have been renovated into a Japanese-style design. The spa felt more casual and family-oriented rather than suited for guests of Hanakohro, with amenities not quite matching expectations either. A private indoor pool might have been nice to have. Perhaps it was an off-peak period? The staff in the club lounge seemed few in number, making everything take longer than expected. I also noticed that my name's kanji on their message card was incorrect. That said, considering how affordable our stay was this time around, when evaluating Takanawa Hotel overall including Hanakohro specifically—there were both pros and cons—it met our expectations overall!
