    Hospitality

    We had planned to visit Hiramatsu in Okinawa this time, but our flight was canceled due to a typhoon. Although it was a last-minute Reservation made the day before, we quickly changed our plans to Atami. I had stayed in Atami once about eight years ago, and every time I visit, the reason I can enjoy such a comfortable stay is thanks to the wonderful hospitality of all the staff. A staff member who had transferred from Okinawa to Atami said, “It’s a shame about Okinawa this time,” which made me feel relieved and truly happy. The female manager also remembered our conversation from eight years ago. I was feeling a bit down about not being able to go to Okinawa, but the kindness of everyone on the team comforted me, and it became another great trip. I truly felt that Hiramatsu properties across The whole country offer outstanding service and teamwork because the management philosophy is exceptional.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    This was our second stay at a Hiramatsu Accommodation, and we were able to relax and unwind. As always, the staff’s service level is exceptionally high. It was our first time staying in Atami, and it exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, so many staff members welcomed us that we were genuinely moved—I still don’t know how they knew exactly when we would arrive. We weren’t asked about checkout or taxi arrangements until the next morning, so we could take our time without feeling rushed. We truly appreciated all the thoughtful attention to detail. We would love to stay again.

    A refined Hotel with a warm welcome for children

    Unlike other modern Hiramatsu properties, this one had a unique, calm, traditional Japanese atmosphere that allowed us to truly relax. Everyone warmly welcomed and saw us off, and they kindly spoke to our child at just the right moments, which made us feel genuinely cared for. There was an Atami fireworks display during our stay, and we were also provided with Shuttle Service to the viewing spot—being able to enjoy such a wonderful show so easily was truly impressive! The cuisine was Japanese-French, with both the flavor and portion size just right. The tableware and décor were full of taste and left a lasting impression. We also enjoyed the financier gift—it was delicious. From both our Room and the restaurant, we could always look out over Sagami Bay; it felt wonderful and we were able to relax completely!

    We visited during Go...

    We visited during Golden Week as a family of three. We love HIRAMATSU Hotels and have stayed in Karuizawa twice and Hakone once, and we are always very satisfied with the service, cuisine, and facilities. This was our first time in Atami, and both the dining and the Room were wonderful. What was disappointing was that upon arrival we were escorted to a Room reserved for someone else. We noticed because there was luggage already inside that belonged to another guest, and the Room category also differed from what we had reserved, so we pointed it out. (There were other families checking in who had left their luggage in their Rooms while enjoying welcome drinks, so we assume it was theirs.) While the staff member hurried back to the front desk, we were left standing alone in the hallway, which felt very awkward. Even when we were then shown to the correct Room, perhaps due to panic or anxiety about the mistake, the staff member seemed very downcast—so much so that we felt compelled to be considerate. I also quietly wondered whether any re-checks were done on that mistaken Room after we had entered it once before letting its rightful guests in... Mistakes can happen to anyone, and this did not make us angry; however, I wish there had been more consideration so that guests would not feel uncomfortable. I do not usually write Reviews, but this happened at the start of our stay and has stayed with me ever since. Aside from that incident—as always—everything else was excellent.

    Hiramatsu Specializing in Onsen

    Thanks to the Shuttle Service, you can get to the Hotel from Tokyo in no time. The welcome drink being champagne, with sweets served as well, is a nice touch. There’s a bold bath right in the middle of the Room, and the Onsen water quality is excellent. However, with a double room, there’s surprisingly not much space to relax after the Onsen. The meals are on the lighter side. It’s unique that the main dish is spiny lobster and that it wraps up with ramen, but opinions may be divided. Breakfast is also relatively light. Rather than expecting an indulgent French meal, it’s best to think of it as a modern Onsen Ryokan experience.

    The Accommodation exceeded my expectations.

    This was my first stay at HIRAMATSU in Atami. The beautiful main building with traditional Japanese architecture blends wonderfully with the newer wing where the guest Rooms are located, creating an even more calming atmosphere. A gentle scent of incense drifted through the property and was very soothing. The furnishings in the Room were also excellent, and I especially loved the comfortable sofa. There is a bath in the Room, but humidity was not an issue at all, and I enjoyed the ocean-view bath many times. The towels in the Room were plush, and they were replaced while we were at dinner, so we were able to use fresh towels again. While there was a luxurious amenity set, since I bathed multiple times, it would have been even better to have a wider selection of cleansing products provided. Dinner was outstanding—both the ingredients and dishes were unlike anything I had seen before. The head chef came to explain everything, and enjoying these heartfelt dishes made for a truly blissful time. Thanks to the thoughtful care of all staff members and meeting such a wonderful hostess (okami), it was a very fulfilling stay. I would love to visit again.

    A Day When You Don’t Want to Do Anything

    To celebrate my husband’s birthday. After arriving at the Accommodation, we were greeted by many staff in black suits. There’s a system where you take off your shoes at the entrance. (They told us it was fine to wear shoes from the Room when leaving, so I wondered if taking them off was really necessary.) The view from the lounge is a panoramic ocean vista beyond a reflecting pool outside the window—spectacular. Unfortunately it was cloudy, but still breathtaking. We had welcome drinks there: champagne for me and a non-alcoholic cocktail for my husband. We also enjoyed lemon cake. Although there were no other guests at the time, we were seated at the farthest seat near the entrance. I wondered why, but perhaps it was easier for service. When we arrived at our Room, once again—the view was incredible!! From both the bed and the open-air bath area, all you can see is the sea! The “open-air bath” is actually inside the Room; when you open the glass doors on the balcony side, it feels like an outdoor bath. The bath has four wooden covers. You have to remove them each time you use it, and they’re quite heavy—hard work. However, if you leave them off after bathing, humidity quickly builds up in the Room. There is a partition door between the bed area and bath area, but if you close it you lose both light and view, so I think most people will end up leaving it open. They recommend keeping the ventilation fan running constantly, but it’s too noisy to sleep with at night so we turned it off. For water temperature in the bath, you either add cold water yourself or ask staff to make it hotter. Dinner was served in that same lounge. We appreciated their allergy accommodations and also that they prepared a birthday cake plate for us. However, perhaps our expectations were too high given this brand name. To be honest, table service was disappointing. There was a performance where the chef injected truffle paste into squid-ink fish cake using something like a syringe—but afterward he rubbed/wiped its tip against the surface three or four times right in front of us; as guests about to eat it, that felt unpleasant. Also when clearing plates after serving dishes with chopsticks wrapped in paper bands around them (disposable chopstick sleeves), one server tossed those paper bands onto our plate before taking it away—I was stunned. This isn’t an izakaya. On top of that we could hear staff chatting among themselves using casual language like “Seriously?” which ruined what should have been an elegant atmosphere. On surface they appeared polite enough toward us as guests—but overall we felt looked down upon as customers which made us sad as well as disappointed during what should have been special occasion celebration dinner experience here overall unfortunately despite beautiful views etc elsewhere within property itself too sadly enough indeed .

    I was deeply moved by the warm hospitality.

    During our stay, my father and I fell ill, but the staff were incredibly kind and supportive. They lent us a thermometer and flexibly adjusted the amount and content of our meals, for which we are truly grateful. Thanks to their warm care, we were able to rest with peace of mind, and it became a wonderful travel memory. We would definitely like to return again when we are feeling well. Thank you very much.

    Unfortunately, it was rainy, but I stayed one night with my mother. As on our previous visit, we received wonderful hospitality. The view from the Room was great, and the Onsen was very relaxing. We also enjoyed a Hiramatsu-style course meal.

    Unacceptable issues

    I planned a preview stay in Atami on my way back from a business trip, thinking of starting an Onsen club with friends. I was looking for a luxury place with in-room dining and a private open-air bath, so I made a Reservation at the well-known Hiramatsu. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing. I arrived excited, especially with the included Shuttle Service taxi, and was warmly welcomed. Since there is no public bath, I went to use the open-air bath in my Room facing Sagami Bay. However, the water temperature was too hot for my chilled body after arrival. I added cold water to cool it slightly, but then wanted to raise the temperature again—only to find there was no way to adjust it. There was an outlet spout but no valve. When I called the front desk, two staff members came to the Room and said they would drain the tub and refill it completely, which would take about 30 minutes. By then I had cooled off again, so I warmed up under the shower instead—and my excitement faded. I later learned that this is not natural Onsen water; it is delivered hot water, and if all rooms use it at once, their tank runs out. After going through all that just to replace the water—what’s the point? It would have made sense to have adjustable hot shower water piped in for temperature control. On top of that, once in the tub, a high privacy wall blocked any view—so I couldn’t enjoy Sagami Bay at all despite being right there. The design is Japanese-style and there is a garden, but it felt sparse and unsettling rather than relaxing. When I asked during in-room dining service, I was told “because we are an auberge.” Paying over 170,000 yen for one night felt like throwing money away. Even though I had looked forward to the food… what a shame.

    I was able to relax very well.

    We visited as a slightly early birthday gift for him. This was our third Hiramatsu stay, following Sengokuhara and Kyoto. About a week in advance, we were contacted to confirm dining ingredients, and on the day we were welcomed at just the right time. The send-off at departure was also wonderful and truly moving. We were so full from the evening dessert and the breakfast bread that they kindly packed them for us to take away, beautifully wrapped—hospitality we really appreciated. If I may be a little picky: it felt like there were not many vegetables at dinner; the timing of when the bread and the main fish course were served didn’t quite match; and in the morning I would have liked to have coffee with the bread, so it would be even better if such preferences could be asked in advance. Also, since the facilities are limited to only the Room and restaurant, there wasn’t a lounge-like place to relax. It might be nice to have public spaces like in Sengokuhara or Kyoto. (That said, not having one also has the advantage of not running into other guests.)

    The Best Christmas Dinner of the Year

    I treated myself to a solo stay this year. I was deeply impressed by the delicious cuisine in Atami. Not only was it tasty, but the menu was also innovative, beautiful, and enjoyable. Among the innovative courses I had this year, this was the best. I hope to visit again next Christmas. The breakfast was also delicious. Thank you very much! Although I didn’t use it, having Room Service available is a wonderful feature. The bath lid felt a bit heavy; if it could be accordion-style, that would be even better! Keeping it closed should help maintain proper humidity in the Room.

    This was our first stay at Hiramatso Accommodation in Atami, but based on the exceptional hospitality we experienced in Miyota, we decided to visit with my daughter, who is expecting her first child and feeling a bit stressed. The staff perfectly accommodated our detailed requests regarding meals. Additionally, their thoughtful care allowed us to relax and rejuvenate both physically and mentally. The meals were not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes and senses. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

    Having previously stayed in Kashikojima, I had similar expectations for this accommodation. Dinner featured creative presentation and menu options, but I felt that simple and delicious dishes would have been sufficient. Breakfast was Western-style with no choices available, ending with coffee. I would have preferred to start with coffee instead. I was hoping for a more relaxed service that made me feel comfortable and at ease.

    The food is mediocre.

    The Room and bath were excellent. However, the food was not impressive, and the wine pairing was underwhelming. The dinner venue was unpleasant due to incidents such as a woman being scolded in a manner resembling harassment and an elderly lady talking loudly on the phone. A private dining room would have been preferable.

    The meals are incredibly delicious.

    The meals were exceptionally high-level, and each dish was truly impressive. However, during dinner, one out of three guests received bread that was extremely dry and hard. The other two guests could tear their bread by hand, which made us wonder if it was the same type of bread. That said, the final dessert was light and delicious, making the entire dining experience from start to finish delightful and memorable. Having stayed at various accommodations, I found the service provided by all staff members to be outstanding. This is an accommodation worth revisiting!

    An Experience to Savor with All Five Senses

    [Standard/Modern French] Enjoy exquisite French cuisine in a Sukiya-style dining room / Includes dinner and breakfast, 1-night stay From the moment of arrival, the hospitality and the historical architecture of the dining area, along with its scenic views, provided a soothing experience. The concept of staying at a restaurant was perfectly embodied with exceptional French cuisine. From start to finish, each dish was aromatic and deeply flavorful. We also enjoyed white and red wine for an additional charge; the initial bouquet of the red wine was particularly stunning. The room offered ocean views, and opening the windows fully while soaking in the onsen created an infinity bath-like experience that felt as if we were one with the summer sea. Even something as simple as tea from the complimentary drinks in our room showcased remarkable taste and style that set it apart from other accommodations. As someone who appreciates art and creates it myself, I was moved by being able to view works by Miró displayed within the facility. I forgot to ask whether they were editions or originals... The shuttle service to Atami Castle for viewing fireworks was greatly appreciated as well. This stay became an unforgettable memory for us. Additionally, your exceptional hospitality taught me so much—thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful time.

    This was my first visit to Hiramatsu. The Hotel's interior, meals, and service were all exceptional. The cuisine had a French base with Japanese elements, and the portions were just right. Since I don't drink alcohol, I often feel disappointed with French dining experiences, but here they offered non-alcoholic pairings which was wonderful. I would love to visit other Hiramatsu Hotels as well. I came here to relax and was able to enjoy a leisurely soak in the Onsen. Thanks to the outstanding hospitality, I felt truly rejuvenated. Thank you very much! I would definitely like to stay again.

    Lovely Room and Delicious Cuisine

    1st Floor Corner Suite The room features artworks by Tamako Kataoka and Kaii Higashiyama, which blend beautifully with the modern furniture, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. The view of greenery and the sea from both the bath and living room was truly relaxing. I had read reviews mentioning concerns about humidity due to the in-room bath, but despite it being a rainy day, the air conditioning worked well, and there was a partition between the bathroom and living area that kept humidity from being an issue. The only downsides were that there is no large public bath and that the onsen in the room uses a circulation system rather than free-flowing water. The modern French course dinner was visually stunning and creative. Although it was very filling, everything was so delicious that I finished every dish. Breakfast included eggs benedict, salad, and other hearty options; the mandarin orange juice left a particularly memorable impression with its great taste. They also accommodated allergies perfectly. Additionally, even though I hadn’t mentioned anything beforehand, they surprised me with a birthday cake—an incredibly touching gesture! I would love to visit again!

    It was very relaxing.

    Even though I was feeling worn out and made a last-minute Reservation the day before, they kindly accommodated my request. Since it’s in the mountains, there isn’t much entertainment nearby, but for me—someone who simply wanted to enjoy the food, Onsen, scenery, and a wonderful Room—it was the ideal Accommodation. The Hotel pajamas were so comfortable that I even bought a set to use at home. Thank you to all the staff for your truly excellent service. If I could make just one request: I prefer a Japanese-style breakfast, so it would be great if guests could choose between Japanese or Western (or both) when making a Reservation.

    Enjoy a relaxing and elegant time for adults.

    Located on a hill slightly away from Atami city, this hidden retreat offers stunning views of the ocean, including Hatsushima and even distant Oshima. I stayed in a special room, which was spacious with a traditional Japanese design. While the style was intentionally classic and Japanese, the Facility was modern and provided great comfort. The private open-air bath in the large garden allows you to fully enjoy the sea and sky, while the Room's indoor bath features a hinoki Onsen that is truly delightful. As expected from Hiramatsu, both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally delicious, and the hospitality of the staff was highly satisfying. Considering all these aspects, I found it reasonable for its price point.

    The meals are incredibly beautiful and delicious!!!

    Enjoy delicious French cuisine in your room and relax. Pairings are available, making for an enjoyable dining experience. The smell of the glassware was slightly noticeable. It would be even better if the bath in the room was Onsen, but with beautiful scenery, a charming Sukiya-style room featuring a cozy Onsen, and delicious food, I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    A very relaxing accommodation

    This was my first visit. The service, restaurant, and wine condition were exceptional, as expected from Hiramatsu. Because the restaurant was perfect, I noticed some minor flaws in the guest room area, but perhaps it was just a coincidence.
