    Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful and enjoyable Hotel. With the beautiful garden and Facilities, we had a great time. The meals were delicious, and even though we stayed for two nights, we never got tired of them—you can choose both healthy options and indulgent dishes, and everything was excellent. Above all, the staff’s thoughtfulness was outstanding, and we had the pleasure of experiencing the General Manager’s wonderful character in person. Even when a small issue came up, T from housekeeping handled it so brilliantly that it actually made our time even more enjoyable. It is a slightly upscale Hotel, but I truly hope to keep making the effort to stay here again in the future. When we visit, I look forward to paying my respects at the Jizo statue in the garden that the Hotel carefully looks after.

    A Wonderful Kyoto Stay Experience

    We stayed as a family and used two Rooms. The calm entrance area made check-in very relaxing. In the morning, smoke is lit in the garden, creating a magical atmosphere for a stroll. In summer, you may want to take precautions against mosquitoes. The Room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We were also touched by the surprise mini cake prepared for our son and his newly married wife. It’s a bit far from Kyoto Station, but they could call a taxi for us when we asked, which was helpful. Breakfast offered great variety with many Japanese and Western options, and everything was delicious. Yukata were provided for going to the spa, but there were no slippers for outdoor use, so I gave up wearing one. I was glad I could go in a very comfortable bathrobe instead. However, because the mist sauna and regular sauna are on different floors, it was slightly inconvenient to change clothes and move between them. It might be better to separate floors for men and women. Snacks and tea were provided in the Room, but in our Room for three (with an extra bed), only enough for two people was set out. My husband said it was fine since he doesn’t eat them, but it was still a little disappointing. There were many international guests, and many staff members spoke foreign languages well. Overall, it was a wonderful Accommodation experience—luxurious yet calm.

    Everything was excellent.

    When we went out, the staff guided us to the taxi, quickly provided cold water to take with us, and served us with a warm smile. Breakfast was delicious! The Room was excellent! We couldn’t finish the afternoon tea, and they kindly brought it to our Room, which really helped. The muscat grapes from Room service were sweet and very tasty. However, the front desk and the afternoon tea reception staff we encountered seemed unfriendly, which was disappointing. Other than that, it’s an outstanding Hotel with nothing else to complain about!

    What is a five-star Hotel?

    I stayed at Four Seasons Kyoto with high expectations, but unfortunately it did not feel like a five-star Hotel experience for me. The most disappointing part was the pool area. Upon arrival, a staff member told me it was “a very pleasant pool,” so I was looking forward to it, but there was no one at the reception desk and I ended up waiting for over 10 minutes. During that time, some staff appeared to notice that I was waiting, yet no one offered any guidance. When I was finally escorted to the pool, the poolside had discarded clothing and shoes as well as used towels scattered around, making it hard to describe as a clean environment. In addition, despite clear “No Diving” signage, children repeatedly dove into the pool, which made me concerned about safety. The staff seemed overwhelmed with tidying up and did not appear able to adequately monitor guests or manage the environment. Disappointed, I left the pool and informed the Hotel of what had happened, but I did not feel that they fully understood the core issues I experienced. As a result, I no longer felt like going to breakfast as planned and instead used room service. Although a manager apologized during my stay, I felt there remained a significant gap in understanding regarding what exactly had been wrong until the very end. Based on this experience, the gap between what I expected from Four Seasons Kyoto and what I received was extremely large, and unfortunately I do not wish to return. As someone who is passionate about Hotel stays, these two nights and three days left me deeply disappointed and questioning what criteria hotel rating systems are actually based on.

    Thank you very much for upgrading our Room. I still can’t forget what a wonderful stay it was. The refined Room design, the beautiful garden that felt like a paradise, and the kind, attentive hospitality were all truly exceptional. The Room was also impeccably clean, allowing us to relax completely and create unforgettable memories.

    50th Wedding Anniversary Trip

    We stayed at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto for our 50th wedding anniversary trip. When we arrived and entered the room, we were delighted to find balloon decorations covering the bed, along with a teddy bear, a celebratory whole chocolate cake, and a welcome fruit platter. We were also touched to receive a celebratory fruit platter at the in-house sushi restaurant, Ginza Onodera. On our second night, we received an embroidered cap with our name and an eco bag again. At check-out, my wife was given skincare items for the third time, and we felt that we would like to stay at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto again on future trips to Kyoto.

    The on-site garden was truly beautiful, and we enjoyed how the scenery changed between morning and evening. The property was very quiet, with a calm atmosphere typical of Kyoto’s Higashiyama area. I think it’s ideal for guests who want to enjoy sightseeing while also taking time to relax at the Hotel.

    The breakfast is very disappointing.

    The Room was upgraded to the Premier Heritage Garden Room, which was a lovely room with a great view. The spa treatments were truly excellent, and the Facility was impeccable. However, the breakfast buffet was very disappointing. The vegetables and dim sum seemed obviously frozen, the roast beef was dry, and the dressings tasted like store-bought commercial products rather than homemade. I would prefer a properly prepared breakfast even if it meant fewer options. Interestingly, I had lunch at the same restaurant the day before, and it was very delicious. This made it clear that less effort is put into breakfast compared to lunch, leaving me with mixed feelings. For this quality level, 8,000 yen seems unreasonable. It’s unfortunate because everything else was outstanding.

    Stayed for one night, had a great rest, absolutely no complaints.

    This was a one-night stay from Fukuoka for some relaxation. I have stayed at many hotels in Kyoto, but this accommodation allowed me to fully enjoy the wonderful Kyoto-like environment and facilities. If the weather had been better, I would have loved to take more walks in the magnificent garden. Personally, I really liked the firmness of the bed. My wife and I discussed it, and although it was on the firmer side, it was subtly comfortable and allowed us to sleep soundly. The breakfast also had a wide variety of options and was very satisfying.

    The best Hotel in Kyoto

    Approximately 1,000 yen by taxi from Kyoto Station, the Hotel is adjacent to the Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangendo Temple. Located along Higashiyama Oji Street, it offers convenient access to buses and taxis. It takes just over 10 minutes to reach Gojo-zaka, the entrance to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. While slightly removed from bustling downtown areas, the location is surrounded by temples, shrines, and schools. Inside the Hotel, a serene atmosphere awaits you. The room featured a balcony overlooking Sekisui-en Garden with its stunning pond filled with vibrant koi fish and birdsong in the background. From this vantage point within the Hotel, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of lush greenery and gardens that create a tranquil escape from daily life. Although slightly early for peak autumn foliage season during our visit, we could see hints of color beginning to emerge in this magnificent garden that showcases all four seasons beautifully. Guests can also step out into this picturesque garden directly from the restaurant area—a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. Breakfast was served at the restaurant in a buffet style complemented by additional menu choices. The buffet offered an extensive selection of high-quality dishes such as plump shrimp dim sum, grilled eel delicacies, cold beef cuts alongside smoked salmon or tuna—making it an exceptional dining experience. For dinner within its premises' sushi restaurant: not only did we savor delicious cuisine but were treated warmly through impeccable service including memorable moments like witnessing tuna carving demonstrations up close! Staying here provides rare opportunities amidst central Kyoto where one feels immersed entirely away into another world thanks largely due both outstanding location paired seamlessly alongside excellent hospitality services plus exquisite culinary offerings making this truly remarkable accommodation choice!

    【Non-Smoking】Premium Room Twin Accommodation

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my wife's birthday. Upon entering the room, we were delighted to find welcome fruits, champagne, and a birthday cake prepared for us. Since it was autumn, the garden with its changing leaves was illuminated with smoke effects, creating a magical atmosphere. Six years ago, we dined at the hotel's Italian restaurant, and while it had since changed locations which felt a bit nostalgic, we thoroughly enjoyed an excellent hotel experience.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. This accommodation is a special and wonderful place for us. Your service is excellent (thank you for everything), and just gazing at the garden is so soothing. However, the only downside is that the hotel is so comfortable that we don't feel like going out to explore Kyoto. (laughs) We will definitely visit again, so we look forward to seeing you in the future!

    The Facility was excellent and very satisfying. The spa was clean, and the garden was beautiful. The staff's service was also great! However, I requested water, ice, and pillows from the Room iPad, but they never arrived. The same thing happened at Four Seasons Osaka as well—does the iPad request system not work on your end? Other than that, everything else was wonderful.

    To Celebrate Birthdays and Wedding Anniversaries

    Thank you for your hospitality once again. This stay was our first since celebrating my daughter's birthday in spring, and as always, we were treated with exceptional service, creating wonderful memories. We even received a birthday message, and while I would like to thank each staff member personally, I would like to take this opportunity through this review to express my gratitude.     This is an exceptional Hotel among the Four Seasons Hotels. The Room was comfortable, offering a view of the garden, making our stay pleasant. Room service was accurate and prompt, and the meals were delicious. The staff maintained an optimal distance while being friendly, ensuring an enjoyable stay. We were also impressed by the beautifully maintained Jizo statue and paid our respects with admiration and reverence. We would love to visit again. This time, as it was our anniversary of meeting my wife, we received many warm messages that made our stay even more special.

    We stayed with our family to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Overall impression: "Very good." We had been interested in this hotel for a while, and although spring or autumn might be the best seasons to stay, it left a very positive impression. First of all, the hospitality was exceptional. From the Reservation process, there was thorough communication. Although check-in was busy and slightly concerning at first, we were amazed by the high level of hospitality. The staff who took care of our luggage upon arrival (a foreign gentleman) even called us by name when we passed him near our Room later on. When my daughter arrived late at night, we ordered in-room dining where she could customize her pasta (type and flavor). Even though it was a single-person order, they kindly prepared water and cutlery for two when informed that we would share—this thoughtful service moved us deeply. There were also birthday messages beyond just check-in time that touched my daughter’s heart as well. It made us feel that this Hotel is perfect for anniversaries. During pool use, there were private rooms inside the changing area which added an elegant touch to the experience. The hallways had several spots overlooking gardens where you could enjoy different views depending on the time of day—it was delightful. The sweets and meals were high-quality too; overall it was an excellent Hotel stay. This time we stayed at various hotels in Kyoto to enjoy different experiences but found this one particularly satisfying. Thank you very much!

    Disappointing Stay

    The noise and vibrations from the party held on the accommodation date resonated in the room from check-in until 10:30 PM, making it a rather disappointing stay. While events within the hotel are understandable, it is unacceptable for guests who are not participating in the party or staying in their rooms to be affected in this way. Especially since I chose this accommodation expecting tranquility that doesn’t feel like being in Kyoto city due to its excellent location, it was extremely disappointing. Additionally, there were issues with the room service ordering device, which overshadowed other wonderful aspects of hospitality. Every stay might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so even for just one night, such incidents go beyond disappointment and become truly disheartening.

    The breakfast was disappointing compared to before.

    This was my 5th or 6th stay. Since my daughter is pregnant, I had requested a Room close to the elevator, but it seemed the message hadn't been communicated, and we were initially guided to a Room quite far from the elevator. However, after explaining this again, they kindly changed our Room to one right near the elevator and even upgraded us, which we greatly appreciated. The children were delighted with raccoon plush toys, coloring books, kids' room keys, chocolates, cookies, and more thoughtful touches. They also enjoyed feeding the koi fish in the pond. At checkout, we received an apology and even a gift from the manager—such kind gestures left us deeply touched. While this stay was overall satisfying as always, one disappointment was that the breakfast buffet selection had significantly decreased compared to before. The Four Seasons Kyoto breakfast buffet used to have an extensive variety that always impressed us; however this time it felt lacking. Still though—we absolutely love staying at Four Seasons Hotel and will definitely return again!

    A high-quality Hotel in every corner

    The hotel left an impression of elegance and high quality. The garden was one of the highlights, and I was deeply impressed by the scenery. Additionally, although personal preferences may vary, I found the furnishings and interior design to be tasteful and captivating. The cleanliness was impeccable, making my stay very comfortable. While the front desk felt slightly small compared to the size of the hotel, there were times when I had to wait for procedures during busy hours. However, the staff's attentive follow-up ensured that it never became an unpleasant experience. Perhaps due to the excellent mattress and air conditioning, I ended up falling asleep so comfortably that I regrettably missed most of my room service dinner that I had been looking forward to enjoying thoroughly. Having stayed at several luxury accommodations in Kyoto as well as other places, this is undoubtedly a hotel I'd love to revisit above all others. Thank you very much!

    We regret to inform you that this accommodation may not meet your expectations. For a price of 150,000 yen per night, the value for money is significantly low. We recommend considering other accommodations. While the pool facility was satisfactory and enjoyable, other aspects of the stay were disappointing. Please carefully consider your options before booking.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my daughter's junior high school graduation. There was a message plate cake in the room, which made her very happy. The room was clean, and the staff were kind, allowing us to have an enjoyable time. However, the breakfast staff seemed inexperienced, which was a bit disappointing.

    In celebration of my daughter's birthday

    This is my second time staying at your property, and this time we enjoyed afternoon tea at the request of my daughter. From my previous experience, I had trust and respect for the high level of hospitality awareness from your property and staff, but this time we were able to have an even more memorable experience than before. It would be ungracious to list all the acts of hospitality here and discuss their high level of awareness, so I will refrain from doing so. However, it goes without saying that seeing our daughter moved many times was the greatest act of hospitality from all the staff for us as a couple. We are grateful that it became a long-lasting memory for our daughter as well. We sincerely hope that as many people as possible who use your property will have a happy time like us. Lastly, my wife has requested to stay during cherry blossom season next time. Using that as an excuse, I would also like to come back to share in the happiness again.
