    We had a relaxing and satisfying stay.

    Three of us stayed as a family: an elderly couple and our adult son. We happened to find that everyone had time off, and this was the last available Room we could book one week in advance. It was a standard type and felt a bit small for three people, but it was practical and easy to use. The in-room bath facilities were excellent, so we could relax and enjoy the Onsen many times. Even from the in-room bath, you can view Lake Suwa through the window. Since it’s on the second floor, you can block views from people walking along the lakeside by closing the lower shoji-style screen by the window. The rooftop panoramic bath offered great views of all of Lake Suwa and even fireworks rising from the lake surface. Using both the in-room bath and the rooftop panoramic bath depending on your mood makes the stay even more satisfying. The meals were great, of course, but what stood out most was “8 types of local Suwa brewery Junmai Ginjo” at the sake bar held on the first floor at night—it was outstanding. We truly enjoyed a calm, grown-up trip.

    Highly satisfied

    Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining Room, so we could relax and eat at our own pace. The service timing was perfect, and we were fully satisfied with the quality and generous portions of the meals. We also loved that they featured plenty of locally sourced ingredients. The fireworks were spectacular from the rooftop, and the open-air bath in our Room was excellent.

    I will never stay here again.

    Although we stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, we were very disappointed. First, it was described as having an open-air bath, but it was actually an indoor bath with a view of Lake Suwa. The lake-facing bath was about twice the usual size and had plenty of hot water, which was nice; however, there was no shower, so we had to walk through the guest room naked to reach the shower room near the entrance (which also has a small bath), which was very uncomfortable. A shower should be installed in the lake-facing bath area as well. Second, in the private dining Room, when staff prepared sukiyaki partway through the course meal, smoke from searing the meat filled the Room and even drifted outside. Also, there were far too few alcoholic options other than sake (we try not to drink beer or sake). Third, there was no housekeeping during our Multiple Night Stay (no cleaning, bed-making, or replacement of towels), so returning to our Room felt very disappointing and made us feel we would never stay again.

    A good accommodation, but not worth the price.

    Because it is adults-only, we enjoyed a quiet environment, warm and attentive service with well-planned flow, and a new, spotless Room—overall a wonderful day. In particular, the in-room free-flowing Onsen from the source was incredibly relaxing; the scent of wood and the outdoor breeze made it so pleasant that we enjoyed it many times. The loungewear was also comfortable and good quality, with separate top and bottom. The Japanese cuisine was delicious as well—overall, a very nice Accommodation. However, I do not feel it is worth the price of JPY 110,000. It is such a lovely Accommodation, but raising the price has resulted in an unfortunate mismatch. If it were JPY 70,000 on weekends, I would feel satisfied and convinced. Everyone working there was wonderful, so I apologize for this blunt feedback; specifically, these are the points that did not feel commensurate with the price: - The amenities and hair dryer were at an “upper business hotel” level. - The toiletries were MJ brand refill-style products. At this price point, disposable POLA B.A would be appropriate; at minimum, I would like to see higher-end disposable amenities provided. - The hair dryer seemed to be either over 10 years old or a mid-range Nanoe model. While the shower head was ReFa, I believe the hair dryer should be upgraded to a current high-end model. - The TV was outdated and could not access streaming services. It was good that it was made in Japan; however, at this price point it would be reasonable to offer full access to all major streaming services—so having a TV that cannot use them functionally was inconvenient. - The meals were close but disappointing overall. The first dish had flavors I’d never experienced before and was exceptionally delicious—I expected more dishes to surpass it but none did. Also, we received fruit and cake as part of a birthday service; however, the cake looked like an industrial mini cake. I truly appreciate the thoughtful gesture and feel sorry to comment on something given out of kindness—but simply plating fruit beautifully might leave a better impression. Again (and only at this price point), many Ryokan offer locally sourced touches; I would love to see more investment and attention paid all the way through dessert.

    Your First Visit to Lake Suwa

    This was my first time staying here. All the staff were very pleasant and professional, which made me feel at ease. We stopped by on our way back from Kusatsu. The Onsen water felt light and refreshing. The rooftop Onsen had a great view and was very relaxing. The Room and Facility were clean, and I was able to unwind. The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary water, tea, and pudding, and I also appreciated the coffee. The meals were delicious using local ingredients, and in the evening we enjoyed a sake tasting flight. It seems there are fireworks in summer as well, so I’d love to visit again if I have the chance.

    Stayed during Golden Week after becoming interested in the Mishaguji faith.

    (Room) A very quiet, spotless Room. The double-pane windows were perfectly cleaned, and I enjoyed a clear panoramic view of Lake Suwa from the Room. (Service) During my stay, I had no contact with other guests, and the staff were attentive. (Onsen/Bath) Since the source temperature is high at 63°C, adding water is understandable. For the in-room Onsen bath, stopping the free-flowing water in advance helped avoid unnecessary dilution. (Facilities/Amenities) The view from the rooftop mixed-gender panoramic open-air Onsen bath was outstanding. Perhaps because all eight Rooms have their own Onsen baths, it felt almost private for about an hour at night and again in the morning. Also, as someone who doesn’t like yukata, it was great to have both loungewear and pajamas available. (Meals) I could choose a smaller-portion Plan, and they accommodated ingredients I don’t eat—so I finished everything for the first time in a while at an Accommodation. Simple and rustic, yet very delicious.

    I was satisfied with the service.

    I could really feel the hospitality of the staff. Their service was warm and friendly, and it made my stay enjoyable. The rooftop open-air bath has a great view, but the wind was so strong that it felt very cold before and after getting in. I was looking forward to the meals, and while there were many dishes, there wasn’t a standout “This is delicious!” item; overall, the seasoning was too strong for my taste.

    A stay that enriches your mind and supports your well-being!

    A regular visit to my favorite Accommodation, Sui Suwako. Once again, my heart felt enriched during my stay, my body felt healthier, and I left with a smile. As I always feel, after staying at Sui Suwako I am filled with a deep sense of satisfaction. Why is that?... It could be because every category in IKYU’s evaluation criteria deserves the highest score... But no matter how wonderful the facilities are, if the service is lacking, overall satisfaction drops to rock bottom. The foundation of everything is “hospitality and service.” I have made a living for over 35 years developing people in corporate settings, so I know this firsthand: truly great talent cannot be cultivated overnight. As you can see from Shinyu Onsen Group’s YouTube channel, this must be the result of the staff’s tireless daily efforts and a corporate culture passed down through generations. This time as well, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who interacted with me for their wonderful hospitality and conduct. And I look forward to seeing you again on my next visit.

    This is an Accommodation I’d like to stay at again.

    We had an amazing time from arrival to departure. The bath may have been recently renovated; both the bath and the Room were very clean, and everything was well maintained. Because it is a semi-open-air bath with a window, the bathing area doesn’t get cold, which was great. The Room faces the road, but it was very quiet, and since it was just when the cherry blossoms were starting to bloom, the view was outstanding. Seasonal dishes were served, and every one of them was delicious. We are grateful to the female staff member in charge for her very attentive service. If I could offer just one suggestion: even if it means slightly increasing the accommodation rate, I feel all drinks in the refrigerator should be complimentary. Overall, I think this is a truly wonderful Accommodation. We would definitely like to return again next year.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation.

    The staff were all very kind and provided courteous service.\nThe view from our Room on the 5th floor was wonderful, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom—my father went to admire the beautiful scenery with Lake Suwa again and again.\nAnd then, the meal we had been looking forward to!\nIt was absolutely delicious.\nI think it was a slightly bitter hot pot made with spring mountain vegetables?\nIt was so good I wanted seconds.\nWhile we were happily enjoying our delicious dinner, they noticed from the date of birth I wrote on the guest registration form at check-in that my birthday had been a few days earlier, and they surprised me!\nI was truly happy and moved.\nThank you so much!\nAt night, we were also able to see fireworks, which made it a wonderful trip.\nWhen I visit Nagano again, I would definitely like to stay at Midori Suwako.

    The view is amazing.

    The view of Lake Suwa is wonderful. The cherry blossoms along the lakeside street were in full bloom, so we were able to fully enjoy the scenery. Both dinner and breakfast featured many delicious dishes made with local ingredients.

    It was very relaxing.

    From the very first car ride, we were warmly welcomed at reception with delicious tea and attentive hospitality, which raised our expectations (laughs). Both the Accommodation and our Room were spotless and felt wonderful. Every meal was delicious, and the service struck a perfect balance—attentive without being intrusive. Unfortunately it rained, but the Room was so comfortable that one night felt like a waste. The amenities were well stocked, and we truly appreciated being able to stay comfortable throughout. My husband also said it was an incredibly relaxing Accommodation—the best he has ever stayed at. Although it was far from home, we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    Quiet Time

    I stayed at Midori. They assisted us right away even before we parked, which impressed us from the start. All the staff welcomed us cheerfully, served freshly grilled oyaki from the irori hearth, and we enjoyed warm, delicious welcome tea. When they guided us to our Room, their service was polite and attentive without being intrusive. The open-air bath on the rooftop while wearing a yukata was quite cold, but the panoramic view over Lake Suwa was wonderful. The open-air bath in our Room was fed directly from the hot spring source and was very hot. We also requested an additional massage and foot reflexology session. The therapist who helped us was not Japanese, but had a gentle manner and made us feel even more refreshed. We were able to relax over our meals in a private dining Room, and the staff member who served us at both dinner and breakfast was lovely. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. If I had to mention one drawback, the surface inside the bathtub of the in-Room open-air bath felt rough and hurt when sitting down. Also, I had to request a larger size for the loungewear because it ran small; it would have been nice if both M and L sizes were prepared from the beginning so guests could choose. Still, overall we were very satisfied with our stay. Thank you very much.

    A Wonderful Hotel Where You Can Enjoy Lake Suwa

    The views from the in-room Onsen and the large public bath were outstanding, and all my everyday fatigue melted away. The food and the staff’s service were excellent as well, making my stay comfortable in every way.

    I prefer moderate hospitality rather than excessive service. The interior seems cost-conscious, but everything is well cleaned, and the fresh flowers placed throughout are tastefully arranged. The Facility, Onsen, meals, and views are well balanced. I keep coming back again and again.

    A very comfortable accommodation.

    I found this accommodation on IKYU.com and thought it looked wonderful, so I decided to visit with my parents. The hospitality exceeded my expectations, and we had an incredibly comfortable time. The staff's service was heartfelt, with meticulous attention to detail that I deeply appreciated. It was never overbearing, allowing us to relax in a way that's hard to put into words. Both the meals and the Onsen were exceptional, and my parents were thoroughly satisfied. Choosing this accommodation turned out to be the perfect decision.

    The staff's attentiv...

    The staff's attentive care was impressive, and their service was highly satisfactory. The room was clean, spacious, and wonderful. I was surprised to find two baths in the room. However, as the baths were deep, I felt a step stool would be helpful. Overall, I am very satisfied with choosing such an excellent accommodation. Thank you very much!

    The smiles of our staff are truly comforting.

    We stayed at Accommodation Sui-Suwa Lake to celebrate my wife's birthday. Although we arrived late, a staff member came to the parking lot to assist us. We were warmly welcomed with a smile, which made us very happy. The reception was also very polite. Having stayed here several times before, I can say the room is always very clean and relaxing. During both dinner and breakfast, we enjoyed delicious meals while being comforted by the staff's warm smiles. It’s such an amazing hotel that I didn’t want to leave. I hope we can come back again!

    Enchanted by Suwa

    The view from the accommodation by Lake Suwa was absolutely stunning during my first visit to Suwa. I enjoyed various activities such as the Four Shrines Tour bus and bars, but above all, the staff's hospitality was exceptionally polite and wonderful. Every interaction was pleasant and thoughtful. I also enjoyed the panoramic bath, which I had all to myself as there were no other guests at the time! I wasn’t sure how to wear the bathing attire (laughs), so I asked about it—having instructions written down might be even more helpful. The accommodation was so amazing that it made me want to visit Suwa again. I hope to return in a different season next time. Thank you very much!

    The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you. There was a mold-like smell in the room that bothered me. I couldn't use the tissue in the bathroom because of the smell. The room's bath was a cypress bath, and I noticed it had a green color, which I was informed was due to algae. Although I visit an Onsen accommodation monthly, this was my first time seeing algae in a bath. The water itself was good. The layout of the room was convenient, and the bed was comfortable. The ReFa showerhead was also a nice touch. The rooftop open-air bath felt more like a small pool than an Onsen experience. With Lake Suwa right in front and visible night skies, it seemed like such potential wasn't fully utilized here. I forgot to eat the pudding provided in my room on arrival day, so when I opened it after breakfast on the next day, it had turned cheese-like (both taste and texture), so I only took one bite before leaving it aside. Not having slippers available made things more comfortable for me—it felt different but nice even in small details like this! Thank you again!

    The staff are friend...

    The staff are friendly and courteous. The room is spacious with a lake view. Meals are delicious and generously portioned. Dining is in a private space, ensuring no interaction with other guests. The room includes some complimentary drinks and pudding. Amenities are comprehensive and well-prepared. This is a hotel where you can truly relax.

    I had a relaxing time.

    It was a wonderful accommodation where we could feel the thoughtfulness of the staff from the warm welcome to the farewell. The entire accommodation was clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals. We were very satisfied overall, but if I may mention one thing, it was a bit inconvenient that all amenities were in paper boxes, making them hard to take out and requiring us to open them to see what's inside, which felt wasteful at times. Due to a typhoon, we changed our plans and stayed until just before check-out time this time, but it was so relaxing that time flew by. We would love to visit again if we have another opportunity.     It was excellent.

    From the warm welcome at the parking lot to our departure, this accommodation provided a truly satisfying experience. The staff were courteous and attentive, allowing us to enjoy a calm and relaxing stay. Although the meal portions were slightly large for us elderly guests, everything was delicious. Notably, when leaving from the parking lot, the staff guided us smoothly as the road ahead was congested. Accommodations that go this far are rare. Thank you very much.     A Relaxing Accommodation for Adults...

    The welcome sweets, Oyaki, were delicious upon arrival. The Room was clean and provided a relaxing stay. The private open-air bath in the Room and the rooftop open-air bath with its stunning view were exceptional. Watching fireworks from the open-air bath was also a wonderful experience. Meals were served in a private room on the same floor as our Room, which felt very considerate. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, leaving us highly satisfied. All staff members were kind and provided attentive service—thank you very much for that. We hope to visit again during another season someday!

    Unique to this location

    We travel not just for sightseeing but to experience the unique charm of accommodations. While there are many wonderful accommodations across the whole country, having something truly unique is often what makes us want to return. Sui Suwako offers an unparalleled experience with its comfortable rooms, tasteful furnishings, naturally pleasant and refreshing staff demeanor, private open-air baths overlooking Lake Suwa, and simple yet sophisticated cuisine—not overly extravagant but perfectly refined. It is a one-of-a-kind accommodation that matches our preferences perfectly. As I mentioned in a previous review, Sui Suwako embodies the "aesthetics of subtraction," consistently pursuing a deepened sense of refinement. Some accommodations attempt to "evolve" by adding unnecessary elements or expanding at the cost of quality, losing their core essence in the process. However, Sui Suwako does not fall into this trap. As returning guests, we feel reassured and delighted every time we visit. This time as well, we had the added joy of watching Lake Suwa's fireworks (10 minutes) up close again this year! To all the staff members—thank you once again for your hospitality!

    The best is our hospitality.

    The staff, though mostly young, provided attentive and courteous service. The meals were well-prepared, highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients with touches like rich dashi and miso accents, which were delightful. Watching the final touches of the dishes being prepared right in front of us added to the experience, and we enjoyed leisurely conversations with our server about local stories during mealtime. The panoramic bath was a unique experience unlike any other. While it’s not a large Onsen bathhouse, it offers an ideal way to enjoy breathtaking views while soaking in hot springs without worrying about others' gazes. However, it would be great if improvements could be made to the bathing garments as they feel slightly heavy when wet.

    Accommodation for Adults

    When I arrived at the accommodation's parking lot, it was pouring rain, so I waited in the car for the rain to ease. To my surprise, when I looked out the window, a staff member was standing next to my car with an umbrella to escort me. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional overall; there wasn't a single moment of discomfort or unkindness. The interior and room were also very clean, allowing for a pleasant stay. The meals were all delicately seasoned without being overpowering, with plenty of variety and absolutely delicious. It felt like an accommodation for adults where one can relax quietly and peacefully. The only thing I thought could be improved is having a vending machine inside the facility.
