    We stayed here for our child’s birthday trip. I don’t usually write a Review like this, but the experience was so exceptional that I wanted to share my thanks. There were countless highlights, but here are a few that especially stayed with me. Even though we arrived earlier than scheduled, we were welcomed right away, and everything—from parking guidance to helping with our luggage—was handled smoothly. From the lobby, we could see deep green scenery and a sea of clouds; it was truly breathtaking. The Accommodation was even more beautiful than the photos suggested, and the glass partitions were polished perfectly clear, creating an open feeling as if the indoor space and outdoor views were seamlessly connected. The furnishings were elegant yet unpretentious and never distracted from the atmosphere, allowing us to relax throughout our stay. The next day in the lounge, there was even a stag beetle case—a charming touch of playful thoughtfulness—and our child was fascinated by seeing such a creature for the first time. Every meal was delicious. Even a single piece of carrot on the plate had no fibrous texture at all and seemed to melt in the mouth. Our child enjoyed it too and ate far more than usual. Since our child had just turned one and could only eat limited foods, we hadn’t arranged any special celebration plate in advance; however, they kindly adapted an adult dessert after dinner for us and even gave us a lovely message card, which made us very happy. They also noticed that my husband is left-handed, and at the next meal his chopsticks were subtly set for left-handed use—time after time we were moved by such attentive care from the staff. The portions were so generous that even my big-eating husband couldn’t finish everything, yet despite eating so well, we felt no heaviness in our stomachs the next day—truly impressive. Thanks to everyone’s warm hospitality and this outstanding space, it became an unforgettable birthday trip for our family. We would love to stay again.

    Disappointing meals.

    The Room, Onsen, and overall atmosphere were wonderful, but we were very disappointed with the food. At dinner, dishes that should have been served hot were already cold, and grilled items were tough and dry. Many dishes felt as if they had been prepared in advance, and we rarely felt we were being served freshly made food. We were also surprised to find that when we entered the Room, some items such as appetizers had already been set out and covered with plastic wrap. What surprised us most was the dried fish at breakfast. It was served already grilled, and we were expected to reheat it by lightly searing it over a tabletop candle. As a result, it had a hard, dried-out texture. This wasn’t so much about personal taste; what concerned us was the temperature of the food, its texture, and how it was served. This is not an inexpensive Accommodation, and we chose to stay here specifically because we had high expectations for the meals. For a Ryokan in this price range, it was extremely disappointing. With rising costs of goods and labor, perhaps it has become difficult in Hakone to provide meals at this level for this price... For guests who do not often eat Japanese cuisine or who are not particularly focused on dining, other aspects were good overall. Because the Facility and Onsen were so lovely, it feels even more unfortunate.

    Both the meals and t...

    Both the meals and the Onsen were excellent, and I was able to relax and enjoy a restful stay. The food in particular was delicious, and I could tell each dish was carefully prepared, which made me very satisfied. The Onsen was also wonderful, and it helped me unwind and slowly recover from everyday fatigue. I would definitely like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    An Accommodation You’ll Want to Return To

    I recently stayed here on a solo trip. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and I was able to relax and take my time. The meals were very delicious, and the wide selection of drinks was wonderful as well. However, the weather was bad, so I couldn’t enjoy the beautiful view from the front desk area, which was very disappointing. Next time, I’d like to choose a day with good weather to stay again. Lastly, thank you for your wonderful service.

    An Accommodation offering exceptional hospitality and service!

    My wife and I stayed for one night and two days. The Facility, service, and hospitality were all excellent, and it was an Accommodation we would definitely like to visit again. The Room was spacious enough for two people. It was on the first floor, but the open-air bath on the balcony area was also large, which may have made it feel even more spacious. The interior was clean and well maintained. I did notice that the ceiling of the open-air bath area was quite dirty, but since it is outdoors, that may be unavoidable. The in-room items were well stocked—there were various amenities available, and there were two sets of towels per person including bath towels—everything you’d hope to have was provided. We also appreciated that the drinks in the minibar were free. The open-air bath attached to the Room was spacious as well, so we could soak at our leisure. We ended up using the in-room bath four times instead of going to the public bath. It rained on the morning of day two, but by closing the rain cover we could still use it without any issues. Since temperatures dropped due to the rain, it actually felt even better after it started raining. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. In particular, the salad served in a bowl at breakfast was incredibly delicious. There are many places with great meat and fish dishes, but I don’t think there are many that serve vegetables this crisp and fresh-tasting. Although they aren’t harvested that morning, we were told they are delivered fresh every day. The staff member who assisted us also answered our questions about the menu immediately—it was clear they had studied—and based on what we said and did during our meal, they offered suggestions and accommodated us thoughtfully. Their attitude was wonderful and their service outstanding. That said, one downside is that there is quite a lot of food—especially at dinner. Since other guests have mentioned this as well, I assume this is something already recognized by the Accommodation; however, leaving food can make guests feel uncomfortable too, so I would appreciate it if this could be reconsidered. Overall, this Accommodation clearly anticipates what guests would appreciate in terms of both Facilities and service supportfully provided throughout our stay; we had a very comfortable experience here.     We had a wonderful time.

    From the moment we got into the pick-up car, we felt elegant, and upon entering the Accommodation, there was a faint fragrance of incense. Everything was wonderful. What impressed us most was the large public bath. The view was so beautiful it looked like one huge painting. Right after we arrived, there was a light mist lingering after the rain, which made it even more magical. The food was also delicious. One thing—since this is in nature it can’t be helped—but when I looked outside at night to see if I should use the open-air bath in our Room, there was a huge camel cricket... I was shocked and scared, so I gave up. But it was gone in the morning, so I enjoyed it properly then!

    Thank you for such a relaxing and soothing stay. Since the Room has a private open-air bath, I could enjoy it freely for as long as I wanted, and I was also happy that the drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary. With only a limited number of guest rooms to begin with, even when I went to the large public bath it was never crowded—almost like having it all to myself. After bathing, there was a bite-sized ice cream provided, which was a wonderful service for anyone with a sweet tooth. Dinner featured a menu that reflected careful attention to seasonality and provenance; it was rich in flavor and enjoyable until the very end. Late at night, I heard a sound like dripping rain and went to sleep thinking Hakone’s weather must change quickly, but when I woke up in the morning—despite clear skies—there was a round puddle on the wooden slats. It appeared to be leaking from an upstairs gutter (it may be worth repairing). Even so, the freedom of the setting and the staff’s warm hospitality (that kind of “overflowing” is more than welcome) helped me forget all the everyday noise.

    Late-Summer Multiple Night Stay

    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay. Although it was a last-minute Reservation, thank you for upgrading my Room on the day of arrival. In the middle of my stay, you also provided Shuttle Service by car to nearby places, which I really enjoyed. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff who served the meals were wonderful. I would love to stay again.

    It was amazing!

    From the front desk with a panoramic view of Hakone’s great natural scenery to the Room with a private open-air bath, everything was excellent! The food was also very satisfying. The incense service and drink service were plentiful and much appreciated. The staff were very kind as well. We’ll be back!

    The staff’s hospitality and service are excellent.

    We stayed here as a couple. Being able to relax at our own pace while enjoying the view without worrying about others felt truly luxurious. We also loved being able to enjoy the in-room bath as many times as we wanted, whenever we liked, and our satisfaction with the Onsen and bathing area was extremely high. The Facilities throughout the building were kept clean and well maintained, creating a calm atmosphere where we could spend time quietly. The staff were courteous from start to finish, making our stay very comfortable. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed them at a relaxed pace. I would recommend this Accommodation to anyone who wants to unwind in their room or fully enjoy the baths. I’d love to stay again if I have the chance.

    The Best Accommodation

    Everything—from the Facility to cleanliness—was outstanding. You rarely find a place like this. The open atrium at the front desk was especially relaxing and wonderful. Above all, the staff’s service with warm smiles was excellent—truly impressive for such a young team. The Shuttle Service staff were also kind and courteous. Thank you very much.     As I love the scent ...

    As I love the scent of sandalwood, I had been interested in Byakudan for some time. From the moment I entered, the fragrance of sandalwood filled the air, creating a wonderfully atmospheric feel. The Room was the most compact type. I had checked in advance and understood this, but it was a studio-style layout with the bed, TV, and washbasin all in the living area. The open-air bath in the Room was comfortable with a good temperature; however, as mentioned above, because it is a studio layout there is no changing area, so everything is fully visible. Even as a married couple, that felt uncomfortable and made it hard to relax. There was a screen that could be lowered in front of the shower room for privacy, but when lowered it prevents opening and closing the shower room door. It provides privacy but did not feel practical. The meals were very delicious; however, there were many times when I could not catch what staff were saying because their voices were too quiet. The service itself was very polite and pleasant, which made it all the more disappointing that I couldn’t hear the explanations of each dish. (At first I asked them to repeat themselves, but later on it became tiring to keep doing so.) The dining area had greenery visible through the window, and seating was arranged side by side facing outside as a couple—but perhaps repairs were underway? I could see metal scaffolding set up among the greenery. With that view, I felt we didn’t really need to be seated specifically facing outside together like that. The staff were courteous overall—especially at checkout time: several housekeeping staff members were working in the hallway but stopped what they were doing, stood to one side to clear our path, and greeted us politely. It gave me confidence that training is thorough here. On the other hand, there was an item I wanted to purchase at the gift shop and when I asked about it I was told they would call someone in charge; after waiting about 20 minutes during which several staff members passed by and clearly saw me standing there without saying anything or checking on me at all—I felt neglected. It gave me an impression of being short-staffed. Afterward, a male staff member at reception assisted me politely when I approached him directly. At checkout as well—perhaps because my assigned staff member couldn’t process things smoothly—they called another person from behind and handled my checkout together with two people involved; however it took far too long. Payment had already been completed online via IKYU.com (with only drinks during meals and souvenirs paid separately in cash), so I’m not sure why it took so much time. Because Byakudan had been such an aspirational stay for me personally, there ended up being many disappointing points throughout my visit."""

    We had a great time!

    We had a wonderful time. It was a very comfortable, relaxing Ryokan. There are little delights everywhere—tokoroten in the Room, nostalgic Japanese snacks in the lobby, and ice cream by the large public bath, to name a few. Above all, I think this Ryokan’s greatest strength is the staff’s hospitality. Everyone seemed highly attentive and professional. We also truly enjoyed our meals. Thank you very much. What was great - The staff’s hospitality - The spectacular view from the lobby and the warm welcome there - Clean, bright Rooms with a pleasant fragrance - Comfortable open-air bath and shower booths - Very comfortable bedding What could be improved - It would have been nice to see outside from the dining area. Even if not for every meal, I wish there were some way to enjoy the scenery at least during dinner or breakfast. - The area around the sink is narrow. It might feel more spacious if items like the kettle were placed in the tatami room instead. - Although everything looks new overall, traces of older equipment stand out here and there—especially doors such as those for the linen storage room in the hallway and even some Room doors. Simply updating them with new wallpaper would make a big difference; it feels like a missed opportunity. - The food was delicious, but perhaps because it is designed to suit international guests as well, I felt it could be a bit more refined as traditional Japanese cuisine. Overall, it was an excellent Ryokan!

    Exceptional hospitality.

    We stayed here on a trip to celebrate my companion’s birthday. The Room was well maintained and very clean. Towels and drinks—things we often worry about when staying overnight—were both provided in ample supply, so we were able to relax comfortably. The in-room bath was spacious enough for two people to enjoy together. (We were so satisfied that we ended up missing the large public bath.) During dinner, I noticed I had a cut that was bleeding and was holding it with tissues while eating; even though I hadn’t said anything, the staff promptly brought tissues, a trash bin, and bandages. For the birthday celebration, they served sekihan (red rice), decorated the dessert plate, and even wrapped and presented the commemorative photo we took by the next morning—my companion was truly moved, and it became an unforgettable trip. I’ve stayed at many Ryokan, but I’ve never experienced an Accommodation that meets guests’ needs this thoroughly. A Ryokan I can confidently recommend to friends—and to everyone!

    The perfect Accommodation for an adults-only girls’ trip!

    Although we considered ourselves seasoned travelers on a two-woman trip, we were completely satisfied with this Accommodation from start to finish. Perched high in the mountains with an unobstructed view, it offers a lounge available 24 hours a day—dagashi sweets at night and champagne service in the morning. The meals featured abundant ingredients and an astonishing amount of food, yet everything was carefully prepared all the way through to the final dessert. We also found comfort in the building’s overall curved design. Everyone who provided service was very pleasant, and their smiles were wonderful. We will definitely return again.

    I wish I could have stayed longer...

    I’d been wanting to stay here for a long time, and I finally got the chance! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the open, spacious lobby, and the Room was amazing with great amenities and plenty of drinks. The lobby’s complimentary services were also excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were generous portions and extremely satisfying! Thank you for accommodating my allergies and foods I can’t eat. Also, thank you to K for taking care of our meals! Next time I’ll come without a tight schedule and relax. I’d definitely like to stay again!!

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Since dinner was kaiseki, I was worried the portions might be small, but that turned out to be unnecessary. In fact, there was plenty of food, and the quality was excellent—we were very satisfied. Also, the birthday cake was beautifully decorated with flowers, and the staff were friendly. We really appreciated the thoughtful attention to detail. If I had to mention one thing, the Room felt a bit small for three people. Once we laid out the futons, there was hardly any space to walk. Overall, I think it’s a great Accommodation. Thank you for taking care of us.

    I was able to relax thanks to the pleasant fragrance and attentive service that respected my personal space.

    We arrived with the Shuttle Service from Kowakidani Station in an Alphard, and after check-in we were shown to a lobby lounge with a wonderful view. The matcha and mizumanju served there were very soothing. The lobby lounge offers complimentary drinks, and you can enjoy them in your favorite cup. I don’t drink alcohol, but there is a happy hour at night, which should be perfect for those who do. The open-air bath and balcony in the Room were spacious, and the water temperature was just right—very refreshing. The minibar in the Room was also free. There was even tokoroten. Both dinner and breakfast included several kinds of fish, all of which were delicious. The tableware was beautiful as well, and everything had an elegant flavor that stayed enjoyable to the very end. Every dish was carefully prepared and truly excellent! In the large public bath, there were multiple branded shampoos and conditioners such as &honey, ReFa, and BOTANIST—it’s hard to choose which to use. On departure, there was also Shuttle Service by Alphard to the nearest station, which is a big plus. It helped us a lot.

    The ultimate relaxation in refined elegance

    An early-summer Onsen trip with my mother. We were welcomed with smiles from the Shuttle Service. The welcome sweets, the soothing sandalwood scent throughout the Facility, the nature-rich location, thoughtful insect-repellent measures like decorative dragonflies, how spotless the Room was, the excellent quality of the hot spring water, the stylish large public bath, well-stocked amenities, a ReFa hair dryer, free drinks and free Japanese snacks, post-bath ice cream—and dinner and breakfast so delicious I couldn’t stop even when I was full—everything was outstanding. Above all, the hospitality from all the staff was truly exceptional; we had fun the whole time and felt comfortable throughout our stay. My heartfelt thanks to T for taking care of us during our visit. We will definitely be back—without a doubt! It was a perfect vacation. Thank you so much!

    Healing Accommodation

    The open, panoramic view from the lobby was outstanding from the start. The welcome matcha drink was also delicious, so we were able to enjoy ourselves right away. The Room had been subtly upgraded for us, which I only realized later and confirmed—such thoughtful service felt truly classy. The cuisine featured seasonal ingredients and specialties from The whole country; in particular, the tenderness of the wagyu filet was exceptional. Above all, the staff member serving us skillfully kept the conversation lively, and we had a wonderful time. Service: excellent. The attentive care—anticipating needs before we even asked—was impressive. The forest view from our Room and the view from the large public bath were both like paintings—beautiful. The variety and taste of the complimentary drinks also felt unmatched elsewhere. Everything was very clean, and overall it deserves top marks twice over. We would love to return again.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation!

    We stayed as a family of three—two adults and our 10-month-old son. Incense was burned throughout the building, and both the lobby and our Room had a pleasant fragrance that made the atmosphere very comfortable. In the lobby, we could enjoy coffee and herbal tea at any time, which allowed us to relax. For meals, we were provided with a private dining room, so we could take our time without worrying about other guests. The portion sizes were just right, and every dish was delicious, featuring seasonal and local ingredients. We used both the in-room bath and the large public bath, and each was wonderfully relaxing. For our child, they prepared diaper supplies, a baby futon, a baby bath, and more. During meals, they also lent us children’s tableware and cutlery. The staff provided attentive hospitality throughout our stay, and we truly had a wonderful time. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much for such a lovely experience.
