    Kid-friendly & perfect for a relaxing stay!

    We visited during a heavy snowfall caused by a cold wave. Due to a cancellation, we were upgraded and stayed in a Junior Suite! The room was very spacious, which was perfect for our active 3-year-old and 1-year-old children, allowing the parents to relax comfortably as well. Dinner featured an indulgent seafood-centered menu, while breakfast offered delicious local Japanese cuisine packed with regional charm—it was absolutely delightful. The sashimi, crab, Noto beef, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), and yellowtail were all incredibly tasty. The jibuni stew had such a gentle flavor that it warmed not only our stomachs but also our hearts. The staff members were kind and attentive; we especially enjoyed chatting with the shuttle bus driver on our way back. Our 3-year-old became very interested in "Himuro" after hearing his stories! Access was convenient as well—the hotel provided shuttle buses from Kanazawa Station or Kenrokuen Garden to the accommodation and even dropped us off at major sightseeing spots in the city on our return trip. If I may add one small request: I would have loved to know the brand of tea provided in the room. Also, while it's understandable due to the building's structure, there were many steps throughout—this made me think I should bring my parents here sooner rather than later (haha). Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the large public bath this time; however, even though it wasn't an Onsen bath, the private bathroom in our room was spacious enough for us to soak comfortably. The decorations in the lobby and hallways were charming—I found myself enchanted wherever I walked. Living in an area unfamiliar with snow made gazing at the snowy landscape outside our window feel exceptionally beautiful. This is such a wonderful accommodation that I can confidently recommend it to my friends. Thank you so much!

    Unfortunately...

    Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of the price paid. Firstly, despite being asked about food allergies in advance and having them acknowledged, meals were served without final confirmation on-site, which almost led to a serious issue. Additionally, as others have mentioned, the breakfast felt comparable to or below that of an average Hotel. The lack of a large communal bath in the annex building requiring guests to walk to the main building is particularly inconvenient during bad weather. It seems there is still room for improvement in staff training as well. To raise the level of younger staff members, it will also be necessary to further enhance the skills of mid-level and veteran staff. I hope for improvements that match the price charged.

    Luxury Onsen Accommodation in the Suburbs of Kanazawa

    We visited Hyakurakuso, an accommodation located in Yuwaku Onsen, just over 30 minutes from Kanazawa Station. Although we took the shuttle service from Kanazawa Station, Yuwaku Onsen feels like a serene place where time flows slowly, perfect for relaxation. With only a dozen or so rooms available, the accommodation offers a quiet and private atmosphere. While we occasionally encountered other guests in the facility, the large public bath was almost exclusively ours to enjoy. After arriving, we indulged in a private open-air onsen before dinner, which was absolutely exceptional. The presentation of dishes was thoughtful with beautiful tableware and fresh ingredients that were incredibly delicious. This is an onsen accommodation we'd love to visit again during another season!

Upon arriving at Kanazawa Station in the early afternoon, you inquired about the Shuttle Service. While it is generally required to make a Reservation by the day before, we were able to accommodate you as there was availability at that time. We apologize if our response seemed cold or unwelcoming. The Room was clean and well-maintained, and we are glad that you enjoyed using the bath facilities. However, regarding the lounge area, we understand your concern about its size relative to the number of Rooms available. We regret that your dining experience did not meet expectations. When requesting cold water during dinner (accompanying crab dishes), it was explained that only bottled mineral water was available for a fee despite complimentary water being provided in both Rooms and lounges. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this policy. Additionally, serving grilled crab and crab shabu-shabu simultaneously led to overcrowding on your table; this is something we will review internally to improve service flow. On a positive note, we're pleased that you enjoyed breakfast as well as other meals during your stay. Lastly, regarding staff interactions at night or upon departure from our Ryokan/Hotel—your comments have been noted so improvements can be made moving forward.     Second stay

    I stayed at the same Ryokan this year because I had a great experience during crab season last year. The room was excellent, and the hospitality was wonderful. However, I was disappointed with the meal service as warm dishes were served cold, and too much focus seemed to be on presentation rather than taste. Although it seems the head chef has not changed, I hope the quality can be maintained even with more branches opening.

    - About Service The service was excellent. It was refreshing to see young staff working so diligently. Even without providing my name, I was smoothly guided to the dining area, which was impressive. During the send-off, despite the rain, a staff member saw me off with a smile without using an umbrella—truly remarkable. - About the Facility The furnishings were exquisite and showcased great taste. The garden was also beautiful. - About the Bathing Area The private bath left something to be desired. There was a net for catching insects on the edge of the bath, and it contained bugs inside it. While I understand how busy things can get, having that on display is unpleasant. - About Guest Rooms Honestly speaking, I found them unsatisfactory. It felt like comfort had not been prioritized enough. Although branded amenities were supposed to provide an elegant bathing experience, they lacked luxury and even basic items like cotton pads or hair ties were missing—quite inconvenient. There wasn’t enough water provided for all guests in our group. The bed’s comfort level fell short compared to what I use at home. I believe there’s room for improvement in pursuing greater comfort. - About Meals Overall good but lacking in condiments; balance could be improved. Some dishes felt like they relied too much on presentation rather than substance. - About Lounge A wonderful concept overall! The drinks and small dishes showed attention to detail.     Inspiring

    The most impressive part was finally being able to enjoy the much-anticipated Kobako Crab. The spacious Onsen attached to the Room, the view from the window, the furnishings, and the garden were all wonderful. The staff were pleasant and provided excellent hospitality. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that different footwear might be easier for walking when moving between buildings instead of traditional sandals. During auctions, I heard from a taxi driver that Hyakurakuso often spares no expense to secure top-quality items. This time, we chose an IKYU Plan with a taxi included, which allowed us to visit desired locations efficiently while listening to fascinating stories during our tour—making it an unforgettable trip.

    Travel for a Special Occasion

    I was shocked by the smell in the room when I first entered. I wondered what it could be and even noticed an ammonia-like odor. The room felt old, and there were no cotton pads or hair ties provided. The base of the bed was exposed, causing me to hit my leg and get a bruise. The private bathroom in the room was too high to step into safely, making me almost fall. The private bath had a strong chlorine smell. The lounge felt cramped with insufficient seating, and there weren’t any easy-to-drink alcoholic options available. The worst part came during dinner—dishes were overly salty, and they recommended eating with Noto salt, which made me very thirsty. When I asked for water, they said it was "charged." Shocked by this response at a ryokan in Japan, I held back my frustration and asked if tea was also charged; they said it wasn’t. However, when they brought tea to me, it was too hot to drink immediately and only made my thirst worse after sipping some. I went back to the room for free water but didn’t have a glass for drinking it properly. When I requested one from staff members at dinner service, they told me that bringing outside water required an additional fee! Frustrated beyond belief at this point on what should have been our special occasion trip together as husband-and-wife celebration momentarily ruined due-to-poor-service-experience overall throughout stay here altogether entirely disappointing experience overall. Later during dinner itself: fatty cuts served labeled under premium beef category left uneaten while spouse fell ill afterward lying down hours recovering discomfort nausea symptoms caused likely meal     Last year, I stayed at Hyakurakuso in Noto and was deeply impressed by the exceptional hospitality. This time, I stayed at Hyakurakuso in Yuwaku Onsen and was equally satisfied. I was also delighted with the room upgrade as part of the Diamond Member benefits.

    The meal portions are small.

    It is disappointing that, despite being a luxury Hotel, guests have to bring towels from the Room. Also, the portion size of dinner is overall too small. Although it is said to use Noto beef, there is too little meat to truly enjoy its flavor.

    Villa Kagura

    I stayed at the accommodation right after the rainy season ended. Despite the intense heat, I was surprised to be greeted immediately upon parking in the lot after being able to check in early around 2 PM. Even though I had quite a bit of luggage, it was kindly carried for me, and the explanation of the facility during check-in was clear and impressive. While I felt that some parts of the ryokan's facility were slightly old, what stood out most was the heartfelt hospitality of the young staff, which left me feeling energized.

    The facility was clean, the Room was spacious, and the view from the window was pleasant, which made my mother very happy. The staff were kind, and we had a comfortable stay.     I was able to relax even with my 2-year-old son.

    I visited with my wife and our 2-year-old son. During the meal, our son had difficulty staying focused, but we truly appreciated your warm hospitality, such as providing coloring books to keep him entertained. Additionally, when he suddenly expressed a desire to ride the bus on our way out, you kindly accommodated his request despite the inconvenience it may have caused. Thanks to your kindness, he was very satisfied. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife has an allergy to raw shrimp, and you thoughtfully substituted it with another ingredient of equally high quality, which she greatly enjoyed. From a female perspective, my wife mentioned that having hair oil available would be a nice addition if possible. The private open-air bath in the room was also very comfortable and allowed us to relax fully during our stay. It was an accommodation we would love to visit again in the future.     I don't want to write anything negative, but I feel I must say this. Considering the price I paid, I believe I have the right to express my opinion. "The price is high." As mentioned in other reviews, for the level of that room, the cost-performance ratio is extremely poor. However! The food was overall delicious! The upgraded meal, which cost an additional fee of about 20,000 yen per person, was very satisfying and tasty. I was really pleased with the food. For this accommodation, choosing the cheapest room might be sufficient. If you stay with a "just need a place to sleep!" mindset and focus on upgrading your meals as much as possible, your satisfaction level will likely be high.

    Accommodation for Adults

    When I called to inform about the delay in my arrival time, the call was connected immediately without any wait. Many accommodations nowadays are hard to reach or rely on automated voice guidance, so this prompt response was impressive and appreciated. However, as I arrived around 5 PM, the "Afternoon Tea" service had already ended at 4:30 PM. I was quickly guided to my room, which felt a bit abrupt. Since Afternoon Tea seemed to be one of their highlights, it would have been nice if a smaller version could be served in the room. It might have added a touch of Kanazawa's essence as a city known for its sweets. The private bath had a spacious tub where I could relax while enjoying views of the garden. The powder room provided manicure items and hair oil for free use, which was also delightful. Although most items were high-quality products, some nail polishes needed maintenance (the liquid had thickened). Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented dishes that matched their elegant tableware—visually pleasing and deliciously satisfying meals. The sashimi was not only fresh but also offered various ways to enjoy it with soy sauce, plum paste, or chrysanthemum greens puree among others—a wonderful experience! I ordered cold sake served in stunning Kutani ware cups that added an extra touch of joy. The staff who served our meals explained each dish skillfully with perfect timing throughout the service. There was also an area where we could play games and enjoy coffee afterward. Since it was a weekday stay, there were no crowds allowing us to spend a calm and relaxing night at this accommodation.

    Used for a couple's 60th birthday celebration.

    The afternoon tea service was good, but it seemed they forgot to serve it for a while, leaving us waiting when we were already tired from traveling. Additionally, during breakfast, even though it wasn’t a course meal, staff reached over to clear dishes like the salad right in front of us before we had even touched the miso soup, which was unpleasant. I would not use this place again and do not recommend it for a relaxing trip.

    Perfect for a Girls' Getaway

    We stayed at the Ryokan in late May with four of us, meeting again for the first time in over 30 years. From the entrance, the atmosphere exuded a sense of an elegant adult getaway. We started with matcha and traditional Japanese sweets before checking in. The complimentary afternoon tea was adorable and delicious, followed by a private bath that we could reserve for free. Enjoying beer and stylish snacks at the free lounge made for an incredibly luxurious experience. The dinner we were most looking forward to did not disappoint—every dish was exquisite both in taste and presentation, leaving us deeply impressed. If I may suggest one improvement: it would be perfect if a small portion of rice (about the size of a dumpling) were served alongside the dish where you mix uni sauce into hotpot—it would elevate it even further! Mixing leftover sauce with rice would have been divine. Our server, Mr. ◯Naka, provided impeccable service—earning a perfect score from us—and his professionalism belied his young age (similar to my son's). It was clear that all staff members worked together enthusiastically to create such an enjoyable atmosphere. At night, we visited the main building's large communal bath despite having to walk under umbrellas due to rain—a minor inconvenience but worth mentioning. However, once inside, it was spotless and felt like our private retreat as no one else was there at that time. We also enjoyed using their complimentary game lounge where we had a hilarious ping-pong match with friends—a nostalgic moment filled with laughter! Breakfast exceeded expectations as well; everything was so delicious that I ended up eating more than planned. One friend mentioned how rare it is for her to take time away from home just for herself; she truly cherished this precious opportunity spent at such a wonderful Ryokan. Thank you so much—we will definitely return! P.S.: The fresh pudding served as part of breakfast dessert deserves special mention—not only for its incredible taste but also its packaging design! The three-piece box featured thoughtful details like unique opening mechanisms and beautiful wave-like curves on white background—it caught our attention immediately since my family runs a cardboard business back home! Both my husband and I were thoroughly impressed by this exceptional design choice.

    Excellent

    The young staff provided excellent and pleasant service. I traveled from Yokohama, while my husband came from Nagoya, and we were able to enjoy a truly relaxing and wonderful time. When I unexpectedly felt unwell during dinner, the staff responded warmly and flexibly, for which I am very grateful. The dishes were visually stunning and absolutely delicious. I was delighted to be able to purchase the beautiful tableware and glassware used at the main building.

    The bus driver on the way provided explanations about Kenrokuen and Kanazawa, which was both educational and enjoyable, making our arrival at the accommodation delightful. The room was lovely, and the bath was excellent. The food was outstanding. We ordered a lot out of excitement and ended up very full. Next time, we plan to order a bit less. The grilled Nodoguro fish and firefly squid were exceptionally delicious. There were stylish facilities like a ping-pong table, darts, and billiards that kept the children entertained. We were deeply touched by the thoughtful dessert plate prepared after hearing about our son's post-exam family trip during our conversation. Although this trip had a hectic schedule, we hope to stay longer next time for a more relaxed experience.

    Villa Kagura

    First trip to Kanazawa!! It was amazing! We chose to stay at Hyakurakuso Bettei because we were looking for accommodation with a private open-air bath. It took about 40 minutes by taxi from the station. Although we arrived later than planned, we were warmly welcomed with matcha and Japanese sweets during check-in, along with a detailed explanation of the facility. The scent of incense at the entrance was enchanting... Each floor had a different fragrance, and all smelled wonderful! Our room was the top-floor suite in Bettei Kagura, and it was so comfortable and beautifully designed that we regretted not checking in earlier. Before dinner, we relaxed in a spacious private bath to ease our travel fatigue. Dinner was served in a private room where each dish's quality stood out, complemented by beautiful Kutani ware bowls that delighted both our taste buds and eyes! We opted for an additional charge to enjoy three local delicacies—all of which were incredibly delicious—making it an indulgent meal! The pre-dinner sake left such an impression; it's unfortunate it wasn’t available for purchase... The lemon sour ordered during dinner was also excellent, and trying different types of sake added to our satisfaction! We also visited the main building next door to explore its lobby and entertainment facilities—it was visually enjoyable as well. At Bettei Kagura’s lounge, you could relax after bathing while enjoying unlimited snacks and drinks. Stepping outside into the cool breeze made for such pleasant moments. Breakfast too was served in a private room with colorful small dishes full of creativity—both dinner and breakfast portions were satisfying! Although there weren’t outlets near the bedside which caused slight inconvenience, it wasn’t much of an issue overall!! They even accommodated an earlier breakfast time upon request so that we could call a taxi early enough to make full use of our time sightseeing around Kanazawa without any waste! The accommodation is located deep in the mountains but offers smooth access back towards tourist spots near the station on your way home—a great flow for sightseeing. The staff members were all young yet very polite, cheerful, attentive to details—and provided hospitality beyond expectations worth more than its price tag!! When I accidentally left something behind in my room after checkout—they kindly arranged shipping later on—I’m truly grateful. Thank you so much for your efforts!! This place has now entered our list of accommodations we'd love to visit again!

    Enjoyed playing Onsen table tennis after a long time.

    It was a countryside Onsen accommodation in Kanazawa, where we had a relaxing time enjoying the Onsen and delicious meals. Upon arrival, we were treated to sweets, enjoyed beer in the room, and were delighted by meals that pleased both our taste buds and eyes. Breakfast offered a variety of small dishes that made it enjoyable. After dinner, I played table tennis with my husband for an hour. The facilities were excellent, making our stay very enjoyable. We would love to visit again when we go to Kanazawa!

    Satisfied... Satisfied...

    The shuttle service to Kanazawa Station was excellent. The welcome service was surprising and delicious! Above all, the quality of the meals was outstanding; every single dish was incredibly tasty. Noto Hyakurakuso was great, but Yuwaku Onsen Hyakurakuso is the best. I want to visit again.

    I felt truly fulfilled both physically and emotionally by the wonderful hospitality.

    I visited Kamisuwa for the first time with my mother on a long-awaited trip. The Room, cuisine, and Onsen all exuded hospitality, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time. We traveled by train this time, and the Shuttle Service to the station as well as detailed guidance on how to visit Kamisuwa Taisha were incredibly helpful. We opted for the all-inclusive Plan this time, and I was delighted that we could order drinks from our Room. Every drink was delicious, especially the sweetness of the amazake which was surprising. While everything was highly satisfying overall, I noticed that in the natural hot spring bath (onsen), only a small amount of water flowed from the source on our first day, making it feel like an ordinary bath (it took several attempts to warm up properly). It would be greatly appreciated if adjustments could be made in this regard for improvement.

    You can relax and enjoy a leisurely, elegant stay.

    Located a bit away from Kanazawa Station, the surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. The accommodation features tasteful furnishings in various spots and is impeccably clean, providing a pleasant atmosphere. It’s especially appealing to women. Although the public bath was slightly small, with some planning, you can enjoy a relaxing soak. The highlight of this accommodation is undoubtedly the food. The young chef's talent and creativity truly shine through. The presentation and tableware were beautiful, making each dish exciting to see and taste. The meals were so impressive that I would love to visit again just for the dining experience!

    The food was absolut...

    The food was absolutely fantastic. The ingredients were excellent, and the exquisite flavors that filled our mouths were truly delightful. It was a perfect way to unwind from the year-end fatigue and reward ourselves for a year of hard work. My two sons and I had a wonderful time sharing our thoughts on the dishes and enjoying the experience together.
