Enjoy breathtaking views from your Room and delicious seafood cuisine.

I had booked the Jodogahama night walk online in advance, but I arrived at the Hotel later than expected. Dinner is served in two seatings, and by then the first seating had already started, so I was ready to give up the night walk to take my time with dinner. However, when I asked at check-in, they kindly allowed me to join dinner partway through the first seating, and I was able to enjoy the night walk as planned. The meals—both breakfast and dinner—were excellent, featuring seafood and local ingredients, and my whole family (including our child) was very satisfied. The view from our Room was spectacular, with Jodogahama right in front of us. The open-air bath was neither particularly good nor bad.

It turned into a memorable trip.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip—our first visit to Sanriku since the earthquake. We were excited, wondering what kind of Hotel it would be, and were surprised to learn that members of the Imperial Family have stayed here! There were rows of photos displayed in front of the elevators on the lobby floor. Wondering what our Room would be like, we entered the one assigned to us—and right in front of us was a panoramic view of Jodogahama! We couldn’t help saying to each other, “What a great Room!” After taking in the view, we headed straight to the large public bath. It also had an open-air bath, and we enjoyed a relaxing soak. Since we had time before dinner, we spent it singing karaoke—by then we were nicely hungry. Dinner was a luxurious buffet, featuring live kitchen stations for nigiri sushi and steak—our first time experiencing that. There were also many local dishes, and we ended up far beyond full. We had breakfast early at 6:30: a buffet seafood rice bowl where you can choose your favorite toppings. Although it was unfortunately raining outside, the sea view had an atmospheric beauty like an ink painting. It became a truly memorable anniversary trip. As we left the Hotel, we talked about wanting to come back again for another anniversary in a few years’ time. Finally, thank you so much to all the staff for your wonderful hospitality!

Both the Room and the meals were excellent.

The twin Room with an open-air bath was excellent. The meals were great, and the restaurant had a calm, comfortable atmosphere. We could take a walk to the beach and had a very pleasant stay—highly satisfied.

    Sushi Kaiseki

We enjoyed a sushi kaiseki course at the sushi counter. With purple sea urchin in the shell, sea urchin chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), fresh sea urchin gunkan-maki, and sea urchin and abalone in ichigo-ni soup, it was a seasonal sea urchin feast that left us completely satisfied.

A buffet featuring the best of Iwate’s local ingredients

I didn’t have high expectations for the buffet at first, but I was amazed by the delicious nigiri sushi and sashimi made with exceptionally fresh, locally sourced seafood. There were also Tankaku beef stew and sea urchin rice, making for a truly luxurious meal. I was especially happy to find dairy products such as plain Iwaizumi Yogurt—praised by Shohei Ohtani as the best in the world—and Tanohata milk, popular for its rich sweetness that tastes like gently simmered milk. It was a very satisfying dining experience that let me fully enjoy the abundance of Iwate’s ingredients.

    Great views and great food.

On a counterclockwise loop from Hanamaki to Rikuzentakata, Tanesashi Coast, Oirase, and back to Hanamaki, we stayed along the Sanriku Coast at Jodogahama Park Hotel. Both Jodogahama and the view from the Hotel were wonderful, and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The seafood in particular was excellent.

The meals are delicious, and the in-room open-air bath is outstanding.

We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, including two meals. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, with a wide variety of ingredients such as locally sourced seaweed. The open-air bath in the Room was wonderful, and we could soak for hours. The sound of the waves and the pine grove right in front were very soothing.

We offer a wide variety of dining options.

The wide variety at the dinner buffet, along with freshly made nigiri prepared right in front of us and hotplate-grilled dishes, added great variety. Everything tasted excellent, and we truly enjoyed a delicious meal. I expected the breakfast buffet to be good as well, and it exceeded my expectations. It was my first time being able to choose the fillings and have onigiri made on the spot. It was a bit inconvenient having to pick up our yukata, obi belt, and haori jacket ourselves from the elevator hall, but I also thought it would be easy to replace them right away if they got dirty.

Everything about this Hotel was wonderful!

There is a Shuttle Service bus from Miyako Station, but this time we took the Iwatekenpoku Bus from Morioka Station to Jodogahama Park Hotel. The spacious lobby and the free drink corner were great, and above all, we were amazed by the breathtaking view from the Hotel! The Room was also spacious; it wasn’t ocean-facing, but the green mountain scenery was beautiful. All of the Hotel staff were kind, and the food was delicious (there was even sushi with some unusual toppings). We almost felt sorry to be able to stay at this price and still enjoy the Onsen and meals. We also heard that during the Great East Japan Earthquake, they welcomed evacuees, which made us truly grateful. Jodogahama Park Hotel is absolutely wonderful! We definitely want to visit again! Thank you very much!!

Perfect for a family trip during spring break.

I stayed for one night in Sanriku in spring with my mother-in-law. Our Room was on the pine grove side, and since it was such a good deal, I assumed we wouldn’t be able to see the ocean—but we actually could, which made me very happy. We were on the second floor, and the large public bath was on the same floor, so getting there was easy. The dining area was one floor up by stairs, and it wasn’t crowded, which was great. We checked in early and were able to take a boat tour to the Blue Cave as well—it was a lot of fun. Both breakfast and dinner buffets were satisfying, and we enjoyed local specialties. It was my first time trying cod sashimi.

    Impressed with the breakfast.

Breakfast buffet. In addition to seafood and bowls of rice, the standout is the onigiri—freshly made to order on the spot. Absolutely delicious.

    Jodogahama Beach is wonderful, but

The view of Jodogahama was wonderful. The Room was clean and well maintained. However, the meals were mostly pre-made, and the only items that felt handmade were the sushi and rice balls. The food did not meet expectations and did not taste good. I recommend not going with high expectations for the meals. You shouldn’t rely on the scenery alone—please make more effort with the dining experience from the guest’s perspective.

    Staying with Dogs

It has been six years since we started traveling with our dog, and this was one of the top three Accommodations we’ve ever stayed at. A few years ago, my spouse, our dog, and I stayed in a Deluxe Room, and on this repeat visit we chose a Suite Room—an unbelievably comfortable Room with nothing to complain about. We were especially satisfied as a family with the seafood served at dinner and breakfast, along with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce from Iwate Prefecture. In particular, my daughter and wife raved about the seasonal mekabu seaweed, the live-kitchen stem-wakame rice balls, and the wonderfully “sticky” combination of okra and molokhia—they said it showed impeccable taste. The only thing that stood out was that the Room felt a bit too dry; it would have been nice if a humidifier had been provided as standard. Next time, we’d love to stay again—this time with our grandchild.

We had a wonderful time with our dog.

We had a relaxing stay with our dog. The Room was spacious, and the deck is set up like a dog run, so our dog was very happy. Dinner featured fresh, delicious seafood with a wide variety of dishes—very satisfying. Breakfast was also excellent. There are still not many pet-friendly Hotels or Ryokans in Iwate, so this Hotel is highly recommended.

    View

Perched on a hill on the peninsula, the view from the large windows in the Room is something you can only experience at this Hotel. The sunrise was especially breathtaking. Another disappointment was the buffet-style dinner. Even with fewer dishes, I would have liked to see higher-quality ingredients. For older guests, a non-buffet option would have been better.

    Stay in our Dog-Friendly Room

I stayed in the Dog-Friendly Stay Room (Twin). The facilities are a bit dated, but everything was well cleaned, and I think the Room is spacious enough for a small dog. If you’re traveling with a dog, you need to keep your dog fully covered when moving from the lobby to the Room, which felt a little inconvenient at times, such as when going out for walks. Basic amenities are provided, so it was helpful to be able to travel with light luggage. The meals were plentiful and delicious, and the staff were kind and attentive. The view from the lobby was wonderful, and I was very satisfied to be able to watch the sunrise while bathing in the women’s bath in the morning.

We stayed as a family and were very satisfied with both the Room and the meals. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. It was a cold season, but blanket rentals were available, which was very helpful. Personally, I felt that having separate two-piece loungewear in addition to yukata would have been easier to move around in. We were disappointed that there was no sauna in the bath area. Overall, we would like to stay again. Thank you very much.

The view from the Room is excellent.

If the view from the open-air bath were better, it might be because the view from the Room is breathtaking. The meals are all delicious, but there wasn't a unique standout dish (though some came close). As for the region, a menu more focused on seafood might be better. When visiting for the first time, that's what one might anticipate and expect. The overall score of the buffet style is high, so having even one "only here" specialty would make it exceptional.

    The location is exce...

The location is excellent. It is about a 10-minute walk to Jodogahama, making it perfect for a morning stroll to watch the sunrise. Bear bells were also available for rent. It would be convenient to have a stool available for use in the washroom and entrance area, as it could be used for putting on shoes or while using the washroom. Was such an item available for rent? Having onigiri prepared for breakfast was a great touch, but the staff's hygiene practices could be improved. Wearing gloves is not just to keep your hands clean. If taking notes on which onigiri was made, gloves should be removed when holding a pen. It raises the question of whether the purpose of wearing gloves is fully understood. Additionally, the way some staff handled the onigiri caused the toppings to fall off, which defeats the purpose. (While the staff on the first night seemed mindful of these details, the staff on the second night shaped the onigiri in a way that caused the toppings to fall off, even while wearing gloves.) Even when requesting table clearing, it was not attended to promptly. If alcohol orders are keeping staff busy, they should still take a moment to look around and clear tables before leaving. If this is not feasible, a simple request for guests to assist with clearing at the beginning would suffice.

It was a hotel with a stunning view.

The weather was great, and the view from the Room was breathtaking. The buffet offered a variety of Iwate specialties, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Especially at the breakfast buffet, freshly made rice balls were prepared for us, and it was truly satisfying. The weather also favored our sightseeing; the Blue Cave and views from Uminoko-maru were stunning. Jodogahama Beach with the evening sun was another spectacular sight. We had an amazing day. This Hotel with its incredible views is simply outstanding!

It's unusual not to have an auto-lock these days...

The room offers a great view, and the tatami-style room with beds has a charming Japanese ambiance. The Onsen is clean and pleasant, the hotel staff are attentive, and the breakfast buffet is delicious. However, the room key is not an auto-lock type but requires manual locking by turning the key. Assuming it was auto-lock, I left without locking it and returned to find the door unlocked, which gave me quite a scare. I believe others might have similar experiences. It would be better to either replace it with an auto-lock system or inform guests at check-in that it is not auto-lock.
