    The dinner was excellent.

    The building's structure is not universal design, making it difficult to access the men's public bath. The razors provided in the public bath and Room had extremely poor sharpness. Dinner at the restaurant "caza," themed around Nagano Terroir, with the Tanno course (Western cuisine), was highly satisfying.

    Accommodation for Solo Travelers

    Stayed alone at the accommodation before a trip with friends. As introduced somewhere, I was very satisfied with the folk art and delicious breakfast. The view from the rooftop terrace was also great. The staff were kind, and it was a hotel I would like to stay at again.

    Very good.

    Perfect size for individual travelers. Not too large, so no group tourists, and not too small. The Matsumoto furniture and decor create a great atmosphere. Breakfast offers a wide variety of options. The space is not cramped. Coffee is delicious, though the bread could be better. It would be perfect if the bath were an Onsen.

    The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable.

    I stayed in the main building. The furniture required a bit of effort to open and close the doors, which I found somewhat charming. The facility had a typical unit bath and toilet with some steps, giving it a slightly old-fashioned feel, but everything was clean. Most importantly, the bed and pillow suited me perfectly—I fell asleep without realizing it and slept soundly until morning, making my stay truly comfortable. Each room had individual air conditioning, which was very helpful for someone like me who tends to feel hot easily. The bathroom was very clean; although I wanted to take my time relaxing in the bath, the water temperature was on the higher side, so I ended up stepping out after about 15 seconds. The breakfast buffet was compact but featured local vegetables and juices that were delicious. It’s also within walking distance of Matsumoto Castle—overall, I’m very satisfied with my stay!

    It was a reliable accommodation.

    I visited after a long time. The folk crafts displayed throughout the facility brought a sense of calm. The staff, including trainees wearing "in training" badges, were working diligently. The meal (with breakfast included in the Plan) was delicious. On the first day of the craft fair, hallway noise from other guests echoed, but that couldn't be helped. The iron I requested was delivered promptly, which was very helpful.

    I would love to stay here again.

    I stayed here because I was interested in the streets of Matsumoto and the Matsumoto folk craft furniture that used to be in my grandfather's house. This was my third visit to Matsumoto, and this time I splurged on dinner at the hotel. The dinner was excellent. It seems they use local ingredients, and the flavors of the ingredients were well-highlighted, making it very delicious. Even though I usually feel heavy after a full-course meal, the menu was well-balanced so that I could enjoy breakfast properly the next day. Perhaps influenced by the furniture, the atmosphere in the lobby felt very dignified. It gave off a unique ambiance that new facilities simply cannot replicate. Additionally, I really liked an essay collection available in the lobby and immediately reserved it at my local library. During my trip planning stage, I had initially made a reservation for a single room as it was supposed to be a solo trip. However, after gaining a travel companion, I forgot to change it to a twin room. Thank you for accommodating our sudden request for changing rooms. Next time, I'd like to try staying at Hachijuroku Onkan.

    A cozy accommodation.

    In February, I stayed with two friends at this accommodation. The location is excellent, with Matsumoto Castle and the City Art Museum nearby. Although it’s not an onsen, the large bath using Matsumoto's underground water was very relaxing! The meals were beautifully presented, delicious, and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet had a great variety and satisfying menu. We planned to have lunch at the adjacent café before leaving but couldn’t get in due to its popularity—something to look forward to next time. There are many sightseeing spots and cafés nearby, making it a truly comfortable accommodation. The staff were friendly and made us feel at ease. Thank you very much!

    It is a calm Hotel.

    It was a Hotel I had occasionally passed by and wanted to stay at. The surrounding streets have many interesting shops, making it an ideal location for a leisurely stroll. The breakfast venue had slightly narrow spaces between tables, and it was during a busy time, so I had to be careful when moving around, but the meal was satisfying and delicious. It turned out to be an enjoyable stay.

    I enjoyed my trip to Matsumoto!

    This was my second stay. This time, I stayed for two nights with a friend and enjoyed Matsumoto at a leisurely pace. The hotel, featuring beautiful Matsumoto folk art, satisfied my friend as well. From the room, we could see the snow-capped Alps (we even saw Mt. Yari!) and Matsumoto Castle, and since the bathroom in the room wasn't too cramped, we had a comfortable stay. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but it's convenient for visiting any tourist spot like Matsumoto Castle or Nakamachi Street. My favorite Masamura-san is also nearby, so I enjoyed baby choux pastries in the room! For meals, we had Western cuisine on the first day and Japanese cuisine on the second day. The steak (Azumino wasabi is amazing!) for Western cuisine and both soup bowls and sashimi for Japanese cuisine were delicious. On our last day, we also visited a café; it was retro and cute with delicious food, desserts, and drinks. It's definitely a hotel I'd like to stay at again when visiting Matsumoto.

    I had an exquisite solo trip.

    I went on a solo trip for a break. It was amazing!!! It's perfect for when you want to stay elegantly in a quiet and unpretentious way. Here are the points I liked: - Atmosphere: The entire building, lobby, restaurant, guest room atmosphere, and even the small details of the common areas were beautifully and elegantly arranged based on folk art, and they were clean. It wasn't ostentatious, but it was filled with just the right amount of elegance, and it was truly wonderful. - Meals: I added a separate one-plate dinner course. Although it was called a one-plate, it was a very fulfilling course with separate appetizers, soup, and dessert. The taste and service were also excellent, and my heart was satisfied. There were also delicious non-alcoholic options (such as non-alcoholic sparkling), which made me happy as I can't drink alcohol! - Staff: Everyone was polite and warm, and I felt their professionalism. - Amenities: The private room amenities were well-equipped, and the large public bath had Sekkisei & Panasonic Nano Care, which earned high points! In the future, I would like to bring my parents and sister, and someday when my child grows up to be a high school student, I want to revisit with my family. It's a place I definitely want to come back to. I'm cheering for you.

    Wi-Fi is

    The retro atmosphere is nice, and it's a wonderful Hotel. It was a breakfast-only Plan, but the balance of items in the buffet was good. There is one issue, the Wi-Fi is unusable. I disconnected it because it was too unstable. I think it should be improved.

    Regrettable Room

    Although I received an explanation from the staff who guided me to the Room, the bathtub drainage was terrible, and I thought it was unbelievable! The entire floor of the bathroom with a stylish design and a spacious toilet was flooded like a pond. As instructed, I tried to place the bath mat near the door, but it was impossible. I tried to use a thick polyethylene bath mat sold at mass retailers on top of the towel bath mat, but that unsophisticated idea was a complete failure. It was also difficult to sit on the toilet. There are windows on three sides, but opening the blinds makes it completely visible from the adjacent building, rendering them useless. I thought the terrace was open, but it was the same, making it extremely uncomfortable. Furthermore, the heating did not work at night, and it was too cold to sleep. The makeshift Room design was just an idea. It was very disappointing for a nostalgic traditional Hotel with Matsumoto furniture.

    First Stays

    I have visited Matsumoto many times, but this was my first stay. Check-in starts exactly on time. Be careful as the water area in the room is slightly elevated. There is a large public bath, but I used the bath in the room. I thought I had filled it, but when I went back after a while, all the water had drained out. It seems the plug didn't fit properly, but no one had informed the hotel about it. Next, I left the water running while bathing, and when I drained it, the washroom overflowed. Also, there was something like a blood clot on the inside of the shower curtain. I called the front desk and they addressed the issue. They offered to change my room, but I politely declined. As for breakfast, while many places now offer pre-packaged dishes, there were many handmade items, and although the taste was average, it was good. When I checked out, I received an apology from the front desk.

    We would like to see improvements in handling tourists with poor manners.

    I had been looking forward to staying at this property since my student days. The property itself was lovely. I think it was just bad timing. A group of five foreign tourists were talking loudly in the large public bath. I was already in there, but couldn't relax and left soon after. Also, in the morning, someone was banging on the door of the room across from mine, which was very unpleasant. Loud conversations outside the room continued for about 30 minutes, which was very noisy. I considered telling the front desk, but it seemed like a hassle, so I endured it. I hope it improves even a little.

    I will write this strictly, without bending the facts, in hopes for improvement in the future. I was recommended by the hotel as "the room with the most Matsumoto folk art" and stayed in the old building deluxe twin. In reality, the living area (bedroom) had only one Matsumoto folk art chair, and in front of the entrance across the corridor, there were two chairs and a small table under the stairs. I understand that this is unavoidable due to the structure, but the claim of being the room with the most Matsumoto folk art is misleading. The guidance to the room involved turning several corners from the front desk, descending a few steps, and being taken by elevator. In reality, you only need to go up one floor by elevator, but the guidance was confusing. It would have been better if there was at least a word like "This is the room if you go up here" along the way. Upon arrival in the room, I was told, "Do not place the bath mat down," and when I asked, "What do you mean?" the response was, "That's why the water overflows," in an unpleasant tone as if it was troublesome to explain. A clear explanation like "because the drain is blocked by the bath mat" would have avoided unpleasant feelings. The humidifier had the "filter maintenance" light on from the start. There was no mineral water or lotion in the room. (There was mineral water in the room of my daughter who stayed in the new building on the same day.) The furniture where the Nespresso was placed was tilted, and when the switch was turned on, the coffee cup moved due to vibration and would have fallen if not held by hand. There is a risk of burning from hot drinks. About 30 minutes after entering the room, the ANKER speaker on the bed suddenly started playing without doing anything, which was surprising. The explanation by the foreign trainee was redundant and quite roundabout; I understand it during training, but I wish the Japanese person watching silently from behind would assist. The washroom was dark and not suitable for makeup. I injured myself while shaving, and my wife went to our daughter's room in the new building to do her makeup. I wish there was at least a small mirror beside the bed. Although there were two guests, there was only one top and three pants prepared for sleepwear, so one person could not wear it. It was minus 6 degrees outside at night, but the futon was thin, and the air conditioner was directly above the bed, making it difficult to use as the wind hit the person sleeping directly. I shivered while sleeping. The bathroom had a terrible smell from the drain, so I had no choice but to use the large public bath. Although the design is good, the room lacks practicality, and the basic aspects of the hotel are too poor, which is disappointing. I hope they will do their best in the future.

    Great satisfaction

    I had a very comfortable stay! Both the exterior and interior are stylish, and everything is well-cleaned. I returned after dining out late at night, and the night shift staff welcomed me with a smile, leaving a good impression. I thought I left something in the Room and called, and the staff who assisted me was also pleasant. (In the end, I had left the item somewhere else, so I caused some trouble for the Hotel...)

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I longed for a place where time flows slowly, and choosing this was the right decision. During my Multiple Night Stay, I enjoyed Japanese cuisine on the first day and Western cuisine on the second day, both of which were delicious. The explanation of the drinks that matched the meals was kind and precise, providing excellent service. The breakfast buffet had a good variety and was just the right amount. At an age where I value good meals, I would like to visit again.

    A calm Hotel

    First, the service was polite and friendly, leaving a good impression. The decor greatly contributed to a calm atmosphere. The dinner was elaborate, with a lineup that piqued curiosity. The service was also good, maintaining courtesy while being casual. Personally, I enjoy reading the local newspaper of the area, so it would have been better if it was available in the lobby or as a service to the Room.

    During the autumn to...

    During the autumn tourist season, due to a sudden Multiple Night Stay Reservation, I stayed in a No Meals Included room assigned by the Hotel. The room was small, but the amenities and towels were sufficient, and there was a complimentary bottle of water in the refrigerator, which was satisfying. I also enjoyed breakfast at the coffee shop on the first floor, Eighty-Six Coffee (Hachijuroku Kohikan), and was satisfied. I always stay here when in Matsumoto.

    First time in Matsumoto

    I visited Matsumoto for the first time due to my interest in folk crafts and stayed at this hotel. The folk craft furniture in the hotel and the attached café was very lovely, and the service wasn't bad either. However, one of the hinges on the cabinet door in the guest room was detached, making it difficult to open and close, and the safe's door was covered in dust. Leaving broken parts as they are and inadequate cleaning make me worry about the cleanliness of other areas. Also, I felt inconvenienced by the lack of power outlets. The complimentary sherbet and breakfast fruit juice were very good and delicious. The café Hachijuroku Onkan was truly wonderful, and I would like to visit again.
