    The Usual Perfect Accommodation

A quiet and impeccably clean all-inclusive Onsen Ryokan with thoughtful hospitality, exceptional hot springs, outstanding meals, and a wide selection of fine sake. It is unfortunate that operations have been suspended due to the recent earthquake. I would love to visit again once it reopens. I also hope for the return of the Nodoguro Yuuan-yaki that was previously offered.

    Highly recommended, wonderful Onsen Hotel

An excellent hotel, almost perfect! The exceptional hospitality and service were flawless from the pick-up point, check-in, meals, check-out, to the drop-off point. All hotel staff paid great attention to each guest. The woman who served the meals was very friendly and cheerful. The food, especially the fish dishes and soup, was outstanding. They managed to make simple dishes incredibly delicious. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared with nutritional balance in mind. All drinks in the refrigerator and at the hotel lobby were free of charge. I stayed in a room with a Western-style bed in a Japanese-style setting; while it was slightly dim, the bedroom was very cozy, high-quality, and provided a relaxing stay. It’s no wonder this hotel is so highly rated!

    I was looking forwar...

I was looking forward to using the tea room this time. When I arrived 5 minutes before 3:00 PM, there were already several groups present. When I checked the reservation for the tea room at the scheduled check-in time, it was already fully booked, and I could not use it. Even though I arrived earlier than scheduled, there was no announcement about this situation. It was disappointing as my father, whom I only see a few times a year, had been looking forward to it. At the onsen, someone was taking photos with their smartphone in the open-air bath, so I left immediately.

Thank you very much for your kind support.

The service, meals, and other aspects were highly satisfactory. The attentive service throughout truly lived up to the reputation of the Kagaya Group. The Room still retains some features from the former Ginsui-kaku (such as low lintels and a small toilet), but it has been beautifully renovated, so there were no issues. Next time, I would like to stay in a different type of Room. Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality.

    A Hotel with Exceptional Hospitality

We stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The meals, including Kano crab, were all delicious. Although we did not mention it during the accommodation booking, when asked by the staff about the reason for our visit, we mentioned that it was to celebrate my husband's recovery. They provided us with thoughtful arrangements. We would love to visit again next year. It is truly a wonderful hotel.

Relax and unwind at an adult-friendly Ryokan.

Check-in at the lobby while relaxing with tea and sweets. Reserve tea time at the tea room. Enter the room and head straight to the onsen. Since it was a weekday, there were many women, but it wasn’t crowded, allowing for a leisurely soak in the onsen. The large bath's lobby was like an art gallery—absolutely stunning. Enjoyed drinking yogurt or milk while admiring the view. Had tea at the tea room before heading to dinner. Enjoyed delicious cuisine slowly in a spacious private dining room with some drinks. Did not use the bathroom in the room as it was small. Breakfast included a variety of dishes served with rice—ate too much! The souvenir selection was abundant, so I ended up staying inside without going out and spent all my time within the hotel. Would love to visit again!

    The meals were excellent.

We previously stayed at Kagaya for a family trip and had a wonderful experience, so we had high expectations for Matsunomidori this time. The all-inclusive service was good, but the guidance from check-in to the Room felt scripted and one-sided, making it hard to follow half of what was said. While they explained their proud tea room, we were told it was not available for use today. The artworks and furnishings in the facility seemed impressive, but the explanations felt like an imposition of value with phrases like "This is by the renowned artist so-and-so," which left us feeling overwhelmed. There were also some aspects of our Room's decor that felt questionable and lacked a sense of luxury. Being at sea level with past earthquakes in mind, we asked about emergency measures but did not receive clear answers, leaving us quite uneasy. The meals were excellent in both content and service; however, the bath was disappointing due to its shallow depth and small size, which made it difficult to relax fully. Overall satisfaction was low; despite being all-inclusive, our honest impression after checkout is that it felt overpriced for what we received. It’s unfortunate because many staff members provided exceptional service during our stay—thank you very much for your hospitality nonetheless!

    A Blissful Moment

This time, I stayed alone for the first time at Matsunoe. As always, I deeply appreciate the warm and heartfelt hospitality of all the staff, allowing me to enjoy a relaxing and high-quality experience. It was my first visit during autumn, known as the season of food. Having stayed here several times before, I already knew how delicious the cuisine is, but this time it exceeded all expectations—beyond what five stars could express. Among the dishes, the grand platter featuring grilled black Wagyu beef, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), and abalone was truly luxurious and thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, when deciding on this trip's destination, I had considered a Resort Hotel that hosted the Ise-Shima Summit for its abalone steak. However, by chance here at Matsunoe, I was able to savor large and thick premium abalone with browned butter sauce—a delightful surprise that brought both amazement and joy to my stay. Once again, this visit provided new inspiration and became a wonderful experience. Thank you very much!

    Satisfaction

I had always wanted to stay here, and when I finally did... it was absolutely amazing! I arrived a bit earlier than expected, but I was warmly welcomed, and from that moment on, everything was perfect. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my return visit after a long time.

After a long absence due to COVID-19, we revisited and were extremely satisfied with everything, just like before. We were able to relax completely. The meals are always delicious, but this time’s dinner was exceptionally satisfying. Especially the grilled buri kama with salt—it perfectly brought out the quality of the ingredients and showcased the chef's exceptional skills. Thank you for your thoughtful arrangements for my birthday as well. With the Shinkansen extension to Tsuruga starting in March next year, I’m a bit concerned about potential inconvenience in transportation, but I look forward to visiting again to enjoy the delicious food, drinks, and Onsen.

    Excellent service.

Thanks to smooth traffic, we arrived about 20 minutes earlier than planned, but we were warmly welcomed. The explanation after check-in was thorough and left a great impression. This stay was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. My wife had arranged a surprise for me, and the staff handled everything so naturally that I didn’t realize anything until the surprise moment. Not only was their service excellent, but they also kept the secret perfectly. Truly amazing staff. The room was exceptionally clean with perfect amenities. The Onsen provided towels on-site, which is very convenient as there’s no need to bring or dry your own towel. I usually take at least two baths during a one-night stay, and having fresh towels each time made it even more enjoyable. The meal started with crab—it was delicious and easy to eat. Surprisingly, despite not having fried dishes or similar items, I felt completely full by the end of the meal. Afterward, we visited the bar where I enjoyed a highball that tasted exceptional compared to canned ones in the room’s fridge. Breakfast the next morning was also incredibly delicious. Although my wife and I are regular office workers and can’t afford frequent stays here, we hope to visit once a year if possible!

    Satisfied yet slightly disappointed.

We stayed in two connecting rooms as a couple with our son. Although our son's wife and child couldn't join us due to circumstances, we enjoyed a rare trip as just the three of us. As the accommodation aims to provide a quiet environment for adults, it was overall peaceful and truly catered to an adult audience. The room was smaller than expected but still comfortable enough to relax in, and the facility's calm atmosphere was very pleasant. However, we were quite disappointed that there was no area to enjoy aperitifs before dinner. The lobby lounge closed at 5 PM for tea time and only reopened at 8 PM for alcohol service. Additionally, before 5 PM, only beer and sparkling wine were available—neither of which we particularly enjoy—and red or white wine wasn't an option either. With the lounge closing at 5 PM, guests with dinner reservations at 6 or 6:30 PM had no opportunity to enjoy aperitifs beforehand. In-room options were also limited to beer, sake, or sparkling wine via room service. Since this is advertised as an all-inclusive accommodation, while it's understandable not to expect complex cocktails, it would have been nice if basic options like wine (red/white), whiskey, gin, Campari, or plum wine were available for pre-dinner enjoyment. Even if the lobby lounge isn't open during that time frame for such drinks, having mini bottles in the room's refrigerator or making them available through room service would have been appreciated—it felt disappointing not having these options. As it stands now, guests might feel compelled to bring their own preferred wines or other beverages along with them. During meals themselves there was a variety of alcoholic beverages like wines (red/white), sake & shochu offered; post-meal offerings seemed more extensive too within designated areas—but being unable-to-enjoy even one-or-two glasses prior-to-dining feels contrary towards what many consider standard practice when staying somewhere marketed toward adults seeking refined experiences! Given how beautifully designed everything else about this Ryokan already is catering towards mature tastes/vibes etc., implementing better pre-dinner drink arrangements could elevate guest satisfaction further!

    A Relaxing Accommodation for Adults

I stayed at Matsunomidori to celebrate my 60th birthday, and both my husband and I had an absolutely satisfying trip. As expected from a Kaga Group property, Matsunomidori was the perfect accommodation for a relaxing and luxurious stay. The hospitality was outstanding, with staff offering warm smiles, efficient service, and thoughtful care that made our time there truly comfortable. From the art gallery-like entrance showcasing traditional crafts to the breathtaking views of the garden and Nanao Bay from the lobby lounge, room, bathhouse, and tea room—everything was mesmerizing. The cuisine was exquisite with beautifully crafted dishes served in elegant tableware. Each dish showcased local ingredients paired perfectly with delicious sake. While we have stayed at other inclusive accommodations or those with free lounges before, the drink selection here is unparalleled—a highlight for us as a couple who enjoys good drinks! Additionally, thank you for surprising me on my 60th birthday celebration with photos and a gift from the manager—it became such a memorable experience for us. This is definitely an accommodation we hope to revisit someday!

    To Noto in Late Autumn

The day we visited, a cold front brought a variety of weather, from clear skies to thunderstorms, hail, sleet, and snow—all in one day. It had been a while since our last visit to Wakura Onsen. The number of visitors reaffirmed its popularity as an onsen destination. While the exterior may appear slightly dated, stepping into the entrance reveals a space akin to an art museum with beautiful lacquerware and gardens. The interior is filled with the soothing scent of incense, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The room gave off a renovated impression with its high ceilings and updated water facilities. It was clean and equipped with amenities like a massage chair for ultimate comfort during our stay. Being all-inclusive was another highlight—free access at the lobby, dining areas, bar—and even replenishments in the room when needed made for an incredibly satisfying experience. The bath features mineral-rich water with strong salinity; being located on the first floor near the sea provided an infinity-like connection between the open-air bath and ocean views. The cool sea breeze felt refreshing against our warmed bodies while listening to waves and seagulls added to the tranquility. Meals were seasonal delights—especially crab and yellowtail during this time of year—which were exceptionally delicious. Pairing dinner with sake enhanced both flavors beautifully; it was fascinating how each complemented one another so well. What we found here at Matsunomidori that couldn't be experienced elsewhere like Kagaya were thoughtful touches catering specifically for adults seeking refined relaxation—a truly unique accommodation offering impeccable hospitality as expected. We look forward to visiting again!

Used for the second consecutive year to celebrate our second wedding anniversary.

This year, we created the best memories again. Last year, we stayed here for the first time and had such an amazing experience that we decided we would definitely return. We were truly excited even before arriving. The building, interior design, artwork, cuisine, onsen... everything was absolutely perfect beyond words. The tea room... it’s something difficult to experience in everyday life, but with explanations of the etiquette provided, we were able to spend a precious time there. Above all else, the staff who attended to us offered heartfelt hospitality from our arrival until the moment we left the ryokan. Thanks to them, my wife and I were able to enjoy a happy and memorable time together. We are deeply grateful to everyone involved in this ryokan for making this possible. Just like last year, as my wife and I talked about not wanting to leave while heading home in our car filled with joyful memories of our stay this year too—we felt so glad from the bottom of our hearts that we chose this accommodation again. We hope to stay healthy throughout this coming year so that next year as well; we'll be able return here once more! Our goal is taking another photo in front of your ryokan striking same pose next-time around! Thank you once again sincerely for your warm-hearted hospitality!

    Lovely Accommodation

We were introduced by an acquaintance of my husband and quickly made a reservation to visit. We had a truly pleasant stay. The attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the staff were exceptional, making our time very comfortable. We also visited the main building, Kaga-ya, where the souvenir shop staff greeted us with warm smiles, adding to the enjoyment of our trip. Although it took quite some time to arrive due to strong winds stopping the Thunderbird train and being limited to Kanazawa Station, we felt completely relaxed soaking in the open-air bath with a view of the sea. The morning view from the open-air bath was breathtaking, and we look forward to visiting again!

You can enjoy a very quiet and peaceful stay. The hospitality is excellent, ensuring a calm experience. It would be nice to have more options for meals. There is even udon available as a late-night snack, so you won't have to worry about going hungry.

Private bath with a view, open the window early in the morning.

We stayed to celebrate a Beiju anniversary across three generations of mother and child. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow, and the staff kindly took photos for us. The highlight was the room's design and spaciousness. Especially memorable was enjoying the bath while watching the sunrise through the large windows in the early morning—a unique experience only available here. Each generation had different preferences, but they didn’t interfere with one another. We also appreciated being able to enjoy drinks whenever we liked. We loved how it combined a Hotel-like atmosphere with traditional Ryokan charm. One star is deducted because the outdoor bath water was lukewarm, so we left quickly. Additionally, some colored pencils were almost unusable without sharpening, and there was damage to a Type-C charger provided as part of the service. It would have been perfect if matcha tea had been recommended during our welcome tea and sweets time upon arrival—we missed out on having matcha as beer lovers! Despite these minor critiques, it was an almost 100% satisfying stay with great value for money. Thank you for your hospitality. We would love to visit again!

    Dried Horse Mackerel

The building and services were excellent, but I was disappointed with the breakfast as it included a small dried horse mackerel, which felt like an ordinary Japanese meal. I had expected nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) for dinner the previous night, but it wasn’t served. Since I cannot eat fatty meat, I informed the staff in advance. While salmon was provided instead of ham for breakfast, the Noto beef served at dinner was too fatty for me to eat even a bite. That aside, I believe improving the quality of dinner would be better than offering free drinks. Unfortunately, the complimentary wine was not enjoyable either.

My father was in your care.

They seemed very satisfied this time as well. They enjoyed a relaxing stay with an ocean view during their Multiple Night Stay, and appreciated the variety of different dishes served for dinner, which kept things interesting. Additionally, they received Diamond Member benefits for each night of their stay, which they used to purchase a beautiful sake set at the gift shop. They mentioned wanting to book another Multiple Night Stay next time. I also feel inspired to plan another trip myself.

    Recommended for solo travelers.

I had made a reservation before but had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. This time, I finally managed to stay for a multiple night stay, and it was absolutely the right decision. Traveling solo, I took two bullet trains, the Thunderbird on the way there, and the Hanayome Noren on the way back, spending about 7 hours one way including transfers. From the first night, I was told, "Starting today, we have fresh Koshihikari rice," which was such a lucky surprise! On the second day, I got to see a local festival's lion dance and children's musical performance during dinner, even if just briefly—another stroke of luck! I've never been particularly drawn to chestnut rice before, but this meal showed me how delicious it can truly be. Everything else was also incredibly tasty—lucky, lucky, lucky! It was almost too much luck. If I wrote in detail, I'd run out of space, but the inclusive offerings and all the meals were so delicious that I ate to my heart's content. Despite that, the balance must have been perfect because, miraculously, I didn’t gain weight—even though I usually do from just eating natto rice! When staying at accommodations, you often encounter both disappointing and excellent staff members regardless of the accommodation fee or star rating. Even at the best places, I've only ever met up to two truly outstanding staff members. However, here, there were several exceptional people among an already well-trained team. I also visited the baths at Kagaya and met another wonderful older staff member there. It seems like Kagaya's hospitality philosophy extends throughout the town. It was an excellent trip. There was no sense of being treated differently as a solo traveler, so I highly recommend this place for solo trips as well! As for "Guest Rooms & Amenities" and "Onsen & Baths," I gave 3 stars because, considering the accommodation fee, the baths didn’t seem to be natural hot spring water directly sourced from the spring, and the amenities were standard—not because they were bad. Overall satisfaction is definitely 5 stars! I’m now worried if I’ll ever encounter meals and people that surpass this experience. Next time, I’d like to visit with my family. I’ll work hard so I can stay for two nights again when that time comes!

    Excellent and prompt service!

Arrived around 1:30 PM despite the check-in time being 3:00 PM. I expected to pass the time with a welcome drink, but they kindly offered a tea ceremony experience in the tea room while waiting. Everything, including drinks, was included in the price, from alcoholic beverages to soft drinks and even ice cream after the bath. It was a thoroughly refreshing and indulgent stay.

It was the best anniversary ever.

Our stay coincided with our 25th wedding anniversary. Although we arrived later than expected, we were kindly guided to the final tea ceremony, where my husband was deeply moved by his first matcha experience. Our room was upgraded, and during dinner, we had a commemorative photo taken and received a lovely keepsake—it felt almost too generous! The meals were absolutely delicious, and the alcohol complemented them perfectly. Of course, we thoroughly enjoyed the onsen as well. The Noto milk gelato after bathing was delightful. Even though I usually skip breakfast, I finished everything this time, much to my husband's surprise. We hope to visit again for another special occasion!

    The finest hospitality

This was my second stay at the accommodation. During my first visit, I felt a bit unsure as I wasn't familiar with everything, but this time I was able to fully relax. I felt relieved when the staff welcomed me back with a warm "Welcome home." The requests I made in advance were handled perfectly. The meals were absolutely satisfying, and there was even a surprise for my return visit, which deeply touched me with everyone's thoughtfulness. I'm already looking forward to the next time I can visit!

    Simply outstanding.

I have experienced other all-inclusive accommodations, but Matsunoiro was truly exceptional. The hospitality and attention to detail were flawless. Initially, there was a mix-up with our anniversary date, and we didn’t mention it at check-in. However, when asked during dinner, we explained the situation. They immediately responded with commemorative gifts, a greeting from the manager, and even a photo to mark the occasion—it made us so happy. Being all-inclusive meant we could enjoy the lounge and other facilities without worrying about costs—completely stress-free—and combined with their outstanding hospitality, it turned into an incredibly enjoyable and memorable trip. We will definitely return again!

    Perfectly Balanced Location

It was an excellent accommodation. The warmth and thoughtfulness from the staff, perhaps reflecting the Kaga-ya style of hospitality, were truly remarkable. Their attentiveness was never overbearing but rather intuitive to our needs, providing a level of hospitality that made our stay incredibly pleasant. The facility itself had just the right size and a calm atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Combined with the inclusive system, it truly embodied the concept of "spending time freely as if at home" during our two-day stay. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisite, focusing on bringing out the natural flavors of high-quality ingredients without unnecessary embellishments. Choosing "Matsunomidori" for restarting our beloved travels after being unable to do so during the pandemic turned out to be an excellent decision. I look forward to revisiting with my very satisfied wife in the future!
