    Satisfied with a stay for a family of five.

    We reserved 2 rooms for a family of 5. This is a hotel with an elegant atmosphere. The dinner was delicious, with each dish being satisfying and enjoyable. Unlike large hotels, there was no overlap with other guests in the elevator, and breakfast could be enjoyed at a relaxed pace. It felt as though time flowed gently here. Additionally, the room's solid door ensured that no noise from neighboring rooms could be heard. This is a hotel we would love to visit again. The bathroom received 3 stars because the floor was slippery, which was the only downside.

    Shower Water Volume and Settings

    The hotel's service and facilities are satisfactory, but when using the room's bathtub and shower simultaneously, the shower water pressure significantly decreases. Additionally, since the toilet is in the same space as the shower and bathtub, it can be slightly inconvenient to use. Other than that, its proximity to tourist spots and accessibility by car or on foot make it a great location for sightseeing!

    I can't wait to visit again.

    The petite accommodation in Karuizawa that we had been staying at for 30 years closed down a few years ago. Since then, we became "hotel gypsies," staying at various places, but this time, we finally found an accommodation that made us think, "This will be our regular place." That is Le Grand Kyukaruizawa. First, the parking lot. Since it is on the first floor of the building, even during a hot stay, our car was protected from UV rays in shaded parking instead of being exposed in an open-air lot. The front desk staff welcomed us with warm smiles. After toasting lightly with a welcome drink, we headed to our room. We chose a room with a balcony this time and stepped out to find Mount Asama right before us. The spacious room was filled with refreshing breezes—truly delightful! The bathroom and sink were spotless and came with fluffy towels. The large public bath is on the third floor. True to its name "Komorebi," the open-air bath offers such tranquility that you wouldn't believe you're in town—it was truly wonderful! At night under the starry sky, I relaxed my body completely and felt deeply rejuvenated. (However, upon entering the entrance where men’s and women’s baths are separated inside—I got confused as I couldn’t figure out how to proceed further into the women’s section initially! Gently opening one door clarified things quickly though; I noticed others experiencing similar confusion too—perhaps adding some explanation signage near entrances might help.) Dinner featured an elegant French full-course meal perfect for adults seeking calm ambiance; every dish reflected thoughtful preparation using local ingredients which tasted exceptional indeed! All serving staff wore bright smiles making dining experience even more enjoyable. Breakfast buffet next morning offered abundant variety amidst cool fresh air outdoors terrace seating options available too – drinks/fruits plentiful alongside unique items like curry/yakisoba delighted neighboring kids’ tables visibly thrilled! Location-wise unbeatable: My husband & I often attend performances held nearby Oga Hall conveniently reachable distance-wise while morning strolls around beloved Kumoba Pond perfectly complement itinerary likewise Old Karuizawa Ginza easily accessible ensuring utmost convenience overall leaving me wondering why hadn’t stayed sooner already? Lastly special mention regarding misplaced medicine box left behind breakfast table incidentally resolved promptly post-call assistance leading safe return homeward bound hassle-free thanks much appreciated indeed!!

    We stayed in 4 Rooms with 9 family members. The location, service, rooms, large public bath, and breakfast buffet were all excellent. We would love to stay again next year.

    I want to come again.

    The location is excellent, and the staff's attitude was very pleasant and wonderful. If I had to point out any drawbacks, it would be that there was no Hotel sign, so I missed it upon arrival, and the road in front of the Hotel was heavily congested during Obon in Karuizawa.

    It was a great stay.

    We had a wonderful time this year as well. On the second day of our 2-night, 3-day stay, it rained all day so we stayed indoors, worked out in the spacious Room, and relaxed in the large public bath—it was blissful. At the breakfast buffet, while my son and daughter usually go for egg dishes elsewhere, they surprised us by devouring "Chikuzen-ni" and saying how delicious it was. Dinner was exceptional with amazing meat dishes and desserts. Some staff members were familiar faces while others were new; I understand changes happen for various reasons but hope you can continue working here for a long time. We’ll definitely visit again!

    This was my third time, and it was amazing again!

    At check-in, we were kindly acknowledged as returning guests for the third time. The Room was thoughtfully arranged near the large public bath, just like last time, which was very helpful as my wife has difficulty walking. The dinner, although during the same season as last year and the year before, featured a different menu this time and was delicious once again. We look forward to visiting again in a different season as well. Thank you very much!

    A Highly Satisfying Hotel

    The Room was upgraded, providing a clean and comfortable space. The delicious dinner, carefully prepared, was highly satisfying! The high-quality dishes rival those of luxury Hotels, making it a Hotel I would love to visit again. All the staff provided pleasant and attentive service.

    The bath was simple, but I really enjoyed the open-air one!

    It was my first stay. The accommodation was simple, but the large bath felt like a pool, and I especially loved the open-air bath. The restaurant at night had a clean atmosphere, but the noise from the open kitchen was distracting. (It felt unnecessary to have the kitchen visible.) The chairs by the wall were uncomfortable and reminded me of a family restaurant. Considering the price, I thought the food was quite reasonable. Thank you for the champagne service in the evening as well. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you very much!

    Escape the heat

    As soon as the rainy season ended, I made an early Reservation to Karuizawa to escape Tokyo's humid heat. The purpose of this trip was to avoid the heat and relax within the Hotel. Other than visiting one museum each day, I spent my time leisurely. The Hotel had comfortable spaces where I could enjoy tea and have a pleasant time. This time, I only had breakfast at the Hotel, but with the same menu every day, it became monotonous by the third day—something to consider for next year. The mornings and evenings in Karuizawa were truly cool, and next year, I plan to stay a bit longer.

    The staff's service is extremely poor.

    The showers in all rooms and the public bath became unusable on the night of my stay. I happened to be in the public bath at that time, so I asked the front desk about it since the showers were not working. A staff member came to the public bath and explained that a pump breaker had broken, causing the issue. They mentioned they had already contacted a technician who would arrive in 30 minutes. I waited in the public bath for repairs to be completed, but there was no notification when it was fixed. Eventually, I noticed that water started coming out of the shower again. I would have appreciated being informed once repairs were completed. Additionally, during check-out, there was no apology or acknowledgment of what had happened—it was as if nothing occurred. I will never stay here again.

    The location is very...

    The location is very convenient and enjoyable as it is in the center of Kyu-Karuizawa. The staff's service was polite, and the dinner was very delicious. I went with my daughter and grandchild, and we all agreed that we would like to stay again. However, it was disappointing that Room 101 did not have a refrigerator, so we couldn't chill our drinks, which was surprising. Additionally, there was an odor upon entering the room, possibly from the drainage pipes? Sensitive individuals might find this bothersome.

    I want to visit again!!

    I have visited Karuizawa several times, but this time, my purpose was to enjoy food walking around the Old Karuizawa area, and this Hotel was in the perfect location. Moreover, the Room and Facility were very clean, and the service was exceptionally polite and excellent. I would love to stay here again next year. However, it’s quite hard to book!

    A Satisfying Stay

    Upgraded to a Deluxe Twin, we enjoyed a spacious room and had a relaxing time in Karuizawa. The meals were delicious, the staff was friendly, and the location is excellent, so we always choose this place when visiting Karuizawa. The only downside is that the bathtub is a bit difficult to use.

    Stayed at the accomm...

    Stayed at the accommodation for a short trip to celebrate my 60th birthday, gifted by my son. The room was upgraded, and it was absolutely wonderful. Dinner can only be described as truly delicious. The staff were very kind, and I look forward to visiting again next time.

    We had a relaxing stay in the convenient location of Old Karuizawa.

    We stayed as a group of four: a couple, their daughter, and grandchild. Overall, the accommodation had a great location and spacious rooms that allowed us to relax comfortably. Ideally, it would have been perfect if the bath was an onsen. While it might be due to pricing constraints, having complimentary drinks in the room or bath area would have been appreciated. The reception staff seemed inexperienced, making their explanations feel somewhat unsteady. The concept of free services in the lounge is good; however, there were only limited drinks available, giving an impression of leftovers. It would be even better if there were more variety in the drink options.

    For an early wedding anniversary celebration

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The Room, meals, and location were all extremely satisfying! Above all, the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding, and we would love to stay here again.

    Excellent service

    The service was excellent. The staff were very kind and accommodating, which I truly appreciated. I didn't mention this during my stay as I didn't want to cause any discomfort, but part of the bathroom floor was slippery, and I unfortunately slipped. I hurt my thigh and the back of my hand; while there is still some pain, it is not serious. Please don't worry about it.

    I feel refreshed.

    Great location with easy access and shopping opportunities nearby, exceptionally attentive staff, and clean rooms—all of these made for a wonderful trip. The highlight, however, was the food. (We highly recommend choosing a meal-inclusive Plan.) Every dish was delicate and showed meticulous attention to detail. The sauce for the meat dishes was particularly rich and offered a unique flavor you won't find elsewhere. Personally, I believe desserts reflect the quality of a French restaurant, and here even the final dessert was crafted with care—truly showcasing the chef's pride. Including the meals, we had a very relaxing stay (the fireplace's glow and aroma were also delightful) and enjoyed an elegant adult getaway. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that our Room lacked outlets near the bedside for charging phones; we had to search for places to charge them (unplugging lights or using outlets in the bathroom). In today's world where phone charging is essential, having more accessible outlets would be helpful. Even so, this is definitely a Hotel I'd love to stay at again! I'll be sure to visit when I'm in Karuizawa next time!

    I was able to relax.

    Stayed for 2 nights The room was a comfortable space where I could relax leisurely, and the food was delicious. Both the large public bath and the open-air bath were excellent. This is a property I want to repeat many times.

    Repeat Use

    This year marks the third year we have been using the Le Grand Karuizawa series of Hotels. We are very pleased with them. We used the Le Grand Karuizawa Hotel & Resort on the mountain two years ago. We were very satisfied, but since we prefer trains, we found it inconvenient to go up the mountain ourselves after shopping at night, so we have been using the Old Karuizawa Le Grand Hotel since last year. The Hotel is very lovely, and my husband, who loves the antique style, is very happy. We also enjoyed the delicious meals. We would like to use it again.

    The smell of the Room

    The Room and bath were very clean, but I was concerned about a smell from somewhere. If the Hotel staff noticed it, I think it would be better to take measures. It made me feel unwell.

    Truly wonderful

    This is an adult Hotel, located in the city, so the location is not one where you can enjoy views from the Room windows. It has a small entrance where cars cannot stop at the front door, and it is not a large Hotel that can offer a grand welcome, but it is wonderful. The cuisine, in particular, is excellent. I have stayed at various luxury Resort Hotels, but this place seems like one I would return to.

    Satisfied with everything except the price. The cost performance is not that great.

    I would be satisfied if it were a little cheaper. At this price, I felt that the service should be a little better, otherwise I wouldn't repeat. For example, if the large public bath was an Onsen, the room drinks were free, bicycle rental was free, or there was a shuttle service, I would feel that the price setting is reasonable.
