    Traditional Ryokan

    The Room was spacious and beautifully renovated in a modern Japanese style, though climbing the steep stairs was challenging. For the bath, during the day, women could only use a small indoor bath and an open-air bath, which were crowded from check-in until dinner time, with even washing spots being fully occupied. On the other hand, men had access to three open-air baths with plenty of washing areas. It felt unfair that women could only use smaller baths during prime hours. A rotation or time-sharing system would be appreciated. The meals were average for a Ryokan; nothing particularly good or bad stood out. The only notable seafood near the ocean was abalone. The pillows were flat and small, making it hard to sleep comfortably. A staff member who guided us to our room mentioned that this is an old Ryokan—and indeed it felt like one!

    I stayed without knowing it was a Ryokan associated with Wakayama Bokusui, but now I understand why it is called Bokusuiso Toikan. I also had the chance to leisurely explore the Bokusui museum, and the guest room was spacious. The Onsen was relaxing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff's hospitality was attentive, and I felt they put great effort into their service. Thank you very much!

    This is my favorite accommodation, and I have stayed here multiple times. Having a spacious room with a bed is helpful as I have weak legs. The meals, the bath, and the staff's hospitality are always satisfying. It was a comfortable accommodation for a relaxing stay.

    Not as expected...

    We visited for a one-night trip with my parents in their late 70s. We arrived a little before 3 PM and were able to check in and enter the room right away, which was great. However, the staff member who guided us spoke very quickly and seemed a bit careless, which was disappointing. While I understand they explain the same things daily as part of their job, it would have been nice if they had been more considerate, especially since it was our first visit and I was with elderly parents. The room was fairly clean, which was good, but I was surprised by the limited selection of drinks in the refrigerator (only beer). Also, there were not enough towels. It would have been helpful to have basket bags for going to the large public bath. The doors seemed thinner than expected, as hallway noise was very audible, making it quite noisy during the night. The Onsen water was excellent, which was a highlight of the stay.

    Good Onsen

    This time, I stayed in a room with an open-air bath and enjoyed it thoroughly as it was a natural hot spring available anytime. The indoor and open-air baths had abundant water flow, and it was written that they are the best in West Izu, which I completely agree with. The meals were delicious, and the staff's service was excellent. Being able to stay at this price is truly a great deal. Next time, I would like to stay in the 120-square-meter suite. I'm sure it will be very satisfying.

    The Onsen and room are comfortable, but the meals could use a bit more of a special touch.

    The building exudes a sense of history, complemented by a relaxing Onsen and spacious, clean rooms. While the meals were delicious, it was slightly disappointing that conversations during dining were interrupted and the rice was placed in a self-service area. As someone with a busy lifestyle, I was looking forward to feeling more rejuvenated. It would have been nice to enjoy more extraordinary dishes that evoke a sense of escape from daily life.

    It was excellent.

    We stayed as a family of four to celebrate our two daughters securing jobs. The staff provided courteous and kind hospitality. The room was spacious and impressive. We were very satisfied with the Onsen and meals. We would love to visit again for another family celebration. Thank you very much, everyone!

    We stayed here for my wife's birthday. The staff provided excellent service from check-in to check-out. While the facility felt a bit dated, it was thoroughly cleaned and did not leave a negative impression. The meals were served in private rooms, allowing us to enjoy our time without worrying about other guests, which made for a stress-free experience. However, there was one concern. On the day of check-in, we noticed a police car parked in the parking lot and several officers entering the hotel. It seemed that some incident requiring police attention occurred within the hotel premises. Unfortunately, no explanation was provided to guests about what had happened, leaving us feeling uneasy. In such cases, we believe it is essential to inform guests about what occurred and reassure them with statements like: "An incident has taken place; however, there is no safety concern. We apologize for any inconvenience caused." We hope guest safety and peace of mind will be prioritized above all else moving forward.

    Although it was the rainy season, the weather was not too bad, and I enjoyed my stay. Here are some personal comments on areas that caught my attention: 1. The staff member who guided me from the front desk to my Room spoke in a very low voice, making it difficult to hear their explanation. 2. The open-air bath on the top floor had no changing area when opening the door, and the bathtub was located at a lower level with low hedges around it. During daylight hours, it seemed visible from surrounding buildings, so I decided not to use it. A suggestion like "It's recommended during evening or night" during guidance would have made a difference. 3. There was no dinner menu provided, nor any explanation such as "Please let us know when you're ready for your final dish." As a result, I had to inquire each time myself about what would come next. Overall, these issues could have been resolved with individual attention and communication from staff members. Regarding dinner, while everything else was fine, the crab legs served were quite underwhelming in portion size. That said, other staff members greeted guests cheerfully and energetically throughout my stay which allowed me to enjoy my experience overall!

    From the warm welcome to the farewell, the service was kind and attentive. While the bath shows signs of aging, the room and dining area have been renovated, providing a comfortable stay. Having a fan in the room after a bath was a subtle but appreciated touch. Considering the price, this accommodation exceeded expectations.

    Highly Satisfying Accommodation

    I made a last-minute reservation during the off-season at an incredibly low price, so I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised in the best way possible. As many reviews mention, the customer service is outstanding. Everyone was kind and their natural smiles were wonderful. The building itself shows some signs of age, but it was thoroughly cleaned, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay. The meals were delicious and just the right amount for us. The dried horse mackerel served at breakfast was fluffy and very tasty. I wanted to buy some to take home, and luckily they were selling it right outside the dining area after breakfast, so I could purchase it easily. At this accommodation, you leave your car keys with them during your stay. After checking out, I noticed that they had attached a traffic safety charm to my car key—it was such a thoughtful gesture! A couple of minor disappointments: The room curtains were not blackout curtains. I couldn't have coffee after breakfast; it would have been nice if coffee had been available either in the dining area or in our room. With rising costs everywhere these days, I'm sure it's challenging for businesses like yours—but your efforts truly shine through! Keep up the great work! Excellent value for money—I will definitely visit again!

    Exceptional hospitality

    The staff's hospitality at the Ryokan is excellent. If there is one drawback regarding the facility, it would be that I wish the guest room doors were at least equipped with auto-locks. Other aspects such as meals, the Onsen, and the room were impeccable.

    The staff provided very pleasant and attentive service. The Facility and amenities are old, as expected from a traditional establishment, but everything was well-cleaned, making for a comfortable stay. The Room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. However, there was a lingering smell of tobacco in the Room, possibly because it used to be a smoking room. If it is labeled as a non-smoking room, efforts should be made to ensure no odor remains. Additionally, having only one key for the Room was slightly inconvenient when going to the Onsen or doing separate activities.

    Stayed for 2 nights. The Room was very clean and well-equipped with amenities, making it a very satisfying stay. The private open-air bath in the Room was especially amazing.     The staff were all friendly and courteous.

    The staff were very polite and cheerful, providing excellent service with car guidance, reception, and assistance. The meals were plentiful and beautifully presented. We stayed for two nights with breakfast and dinner included, and the menu was different each time, making every meal enjoyable. While the seafood was delightful, the seaweed porridge stood out with its rich aroma and taste. The entrance was elegant, and the room was very spacious. Perhaps because we visited during a less busy period, our room was upgraded to a higher grade. The Onsen is spacious! The open-air bath was incredibly relaxing and had such an atmospheric design that I wanted to take photos of it (though I forgot to take pictures of the room...).

    Excellent

    First of all, the welcome was amazing! It made us feel great. They carried all our luggage, making check-in super easy. The staff's friendly greetings also added to the pleasant atmosphere. The Room was not only perfect but even too spacious—there was one room we didn’t even use... haha. With a view of the ocean, a private open-air bath in the guest room, and a relaxing balcony space, it was simply the best. Time just flew by as we enjoyed ourselves. It felt like being at a resort. Growing up in an inland area without access to the sea, being able to relax while gazing at the ocean was truly special for me. As for meals, I informed them that I couldn’t eat bluefish this time, and they were very considerate about it—I’m so grateful for their thoughtfulness! Thanks to that, I could enjoy my meals thoroughly. The dining staff greeted and conversed with us in such a pleasant tone that it lifted our spirits as well. Even after returning tired from sightseeing around the area, their cheerful greetings brought smiles to our faces—and heading straight into our room’s bath provided much-needed relaxation. It was a 3-day-2-night trip where we felt fully rejuvenated and had an amazing time overall! Although most of my photos are of food... haha... unfortunately there are people visible in my Room photos…

    "Relaxed and comfortable."

    A traditional and historic Ryokan with excellent staff service. While there seem to be some issues with barrier-free accessibility and Facility updates, we found it charming and thoroughly enjoyable. The meals were also satisfying.

    The cost performance is good, but...

    I chose this Ryokan for its traditional style and proximity to Tokyo, booking a last-minute Plan. I believe the service matches the price, and they are doing their best. However, during my stay in the "Ieyasu" Room, it rained at night, and the sound of rain hitting the gutter—like "clang clang clang"—was constant and very loud. It sounded like rain hitting a tin bucket repeatedly. The noise was so loud that I could barely sleep. I imagine other guests in nearby rooms might have noticed it as well. For us, it was particularly loud, waking us up multiple times throughout the night and making it difficult to rest. Unfortunately, instead of feeling refreshed from visiting an Onsen, we left feeling exhausted. I recommend addressing this issue promptly for future guests' comfort.

    Very satisfied with the bathroom in the Room.

    The Room's bath is spacious with a large tub, offering a relaxing experience. You can enjoy the expansive view outside, providing a great sense of openness. The natural hot spring water has a smooth texture, and soaking in it more than 10 times was truly satisfying.

    We stayed in a room with a private open-air Onsen, bringing along our elderly mothers. Since they have difficulty walking, we chose this accommodation so they could enjoy the bath freely. However, while I was using the women's public bath downstairs at night, one of them entered the private Onsen alone and unfortunately fell and fractured a bone. Afterward, we relied on the wheelchair provided by the Ryokan and completed our planned two-night stay. This incident was purely accidental and not due to any fault of the Ryokan. However, considering that many elderly guests may visit, it would be helpful to have handrails or supports near the baths for safety. The transition from our room to the dining area was almost entirely barrier-free, which was very convenient. Regarding meals, they were beautifully presented with generous portions featuring a variety of ingredients displayed elegantly on small plates. If I may add one suggestion—it would be nice if staff could clear finished dishes without needing to be called over. For our second night's dinner menu, there were creative changes that made it enjoyable as well. The Onsen itself was excellent. Thank you very much!

    The open-air bath in...

    The open-air bath in the room was very comfortable. The staff provided excellent and pleasant service, making it a wonderful accommodation. Tohi, the location we visited for the first time, had more attractions than expected and was very enjoyable.

    This is a property I would definitely like to repeat.

    The warm hospitality typical of a traditional Ryokan is the biggest attraction of this Property. The cleanliness of the Room and bath, meals and amenities that match the price are, of course, all in place. However, among the Ryokans I have stayed at so far, I felt that the staff here exceptionally love and take pride in their work and workplace, and genuinely want each guest to enjoy their stay. This atmosphere made my stay very pleasant. Even amidst the busyness, being able to spend time in such an atmosphere made my time even more delightful and enjoyable. By the way, the meals were not just worth the price, but so full of fresh seafood that I wondered if they could even break even. I stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner twice, and even if the same seafood was served, the presentation, taste, and quantity were so satisfying both days that I was impressed with the menu composition. The Onsen was, of course, very good as well. I would definitely like to visit this Stays again. Thank you very much.

    The view from the room with an open-air bath is superb!

    I stayed at Toi Onsen for the first time. The room on the 6th floor had an open-air bath, offering a great view of Suruga Bay and the mountains. Although there were some steps in the room, it was clean and comfortable. The meals were delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and the portions were just right for me. I enjoyed the large public bath and the open-air bath, which was refreshing. The staff's service was kind and attentive, leaving a good impression. I would like to stay again.

    Disappointing Stays

    The review is either very good or bad. Unfortunately, this time it was disappointing, so I would like to leave a review. It was a special room with an open-air bath, but there was only cold water in the pot and green tea in the electric pot. I was glad I had my own toothbrush, but I was a little surprised at the poor quality of the amenity toothbrush. It was the first time I paid over 80,000 yen for dinner and there was no menu, and when I sat down, most of the dishes were already on the table, and the sashimi came as soon as I sat down, so it wasn't fresh? Also, it took 25 minutes to get the sukiyaki lit and the rice requested, so the sukiyaki became lukewarm, which was disappointing. The staff lightly said sorry because they were busy. We are not related parties, so being busy is not our concern, and I think they should say sorry instead of stretching out the apology with "sorry." We stay at decent ryokans about twice a month, but I was disappointed at the beginning of the New Year as I had never been so disappointed. Also, on the way back, payment was only available via PayPay and cash, which troubled other guests. However, regarding the onsen, it was a natural hot spring and felt good.
