    Wonderful Dinner

    Dinner was absolutely delicious. Each dish, crafted with great care for ingredients, texture, and aroma, left a lasting impression. The Onsen in the Room was wonderful as well, but I felt it was worth visiting even just for the dinner. All of the staff were very kind. I would love to visit again in a different season.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We stayed here to relax as a couple. The ocean view from our Room was wonderful, and we especially enjoyed taking in the scenery while soaking in the Onsen. The French dinner was delicious, and we were very satisfied with both the cuisine and the Onsen. The staff were courteous, and we were able to unwind in a calm atmosphere. We would love to visit again as a couple.

    The hospitality was excellent.

    There was an issue with the Room we were initially shown, and we had to move to a different Room, but the staff handled it well, so our stay was comfortable. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.

    I love summer.

    To call ourselves an auberge...

    All of the staff (except one) were very pleasant. The Room was clean, and the open-air bath was extremely relaxing. However, I don’t think the food is at a level that justifies calling this place an auberge. In particular, when moray eel was served as an appetizer, I was honestly speechless… I’m sure some people like it, but coming all the way to an auberge in Atami and paying a lot of money only to be served moray eel felt disappointing—it's an ingredient many people are likely to dislike. And then the fish course was conger eel… it made me give a wry smile. I also didn’t find the seasoning of the other dishes as delicious as many Reviews suggest. I left quite a bit uneaten and felt like I tried to wash it down with wine. Also, since I can’t eat moray eel, I asked one staff member if it would be possible to order additional abalone, but they curtly said, “No—it’s only until 17:00!” At the very least, I would have appreciated them saying they would check with the kitchen. It was a strange experience: overall satisfaction was high except for the food at an auberge. If you choose No Meals Included, this is recommended Accommodation.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    The Room, Onsen, cuisine, and hospitality were all wonderful, and we were able to relax and enjoy a leisurely stay. The breakfast pâté de campagne was exceptional. We will visit again. Thank you very much.

    The ambiance was very well done.

    I have stayed at other Fontaine auberges before, but this was my first time visiting Atami. The courteous service and the atmosphere created to enjoy the meals were excellent. The meal I had been looking forward to most was carefully prepared, refined French cuisine, but I am not fond of some of the seasonal (summer) ingredients. Next time, I plan to visit in a different season after confirming the ingredients in advance. Also, when driving to the building, the entrance from the main road was a bit hard to find; we had to stop and make a U-turn while searching. I recommend checking the map/navigation in advance.

    The meals are absolutely delicious!

    Both dinner and breakfast were truly delicious. The staff explained each dish very carefully. The restaurant also had a wonderful view, and we had a very pleasant time. The Room was clean and spacious, and the hot spring water quality was excellent. The front desk staff were also very helpful. We would love to visit again!

    All the staff were friendly, and it was a warm, home-like Hotel. The meals were delicious as well. The Room was clean and nice, but it was disappointing that the sofa was firm and not very comfortable to sit on, and that the TV was very small. For those reasons, I rated it 4 stars. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Enjoy a quiet, relaxing stay.

    During meals, you can see the ocean from the restaurant, and since it was sunny, the view was wonderful. The food was also very delicious. Overall, it is quiet and feels private, so you can relax and take your time. There are periods when fireworks are held as well, and because the beach is close by, we also recommend visiting to enjoy swimming in the sea.

    The views, free-flowing Onsen, delicious locally sourced cuisine, and wine—everything was excellent. Guests of all ages can enjoy a stay you won’t find at a traditional Ryokan.

    Fully satisfied with authentic cuisine

    What I enjoyed most was the food. Every dish in the full-course French dinner was captivating. From moray eel steak and conger eel baked with croutons to beef fillet paired with foie gras, I was thoroughly satisfied with the colors, flavors, and presentation. The hot sandwiches at breakfast were also excellent, featuring seafood and pâté and letting me fully enjoy local ingredients. Bathing while looking out at the sea from a guest room with a private Onsen felt like a special escape from everyday life. The room was impeccably clean, and the staff’s courteous service made me feel at ease. It’s an Accommodation well worth the price, and I’d love to return.

    The facilities are excellent—nothing to complain about.

    The Facility and amenities, the semi-open-air bath, and even the beer in the refrigerator were all flawless (except for the razor). Dinner featured a variety of well-crafted fish dishes and was generally satisfying, but I would have liked the à la carte foie gras to be seared a bit more crisp. Breakfast was unique, centered around filled sandwiches, and was quite good.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    I stayed for one night in July! The staff service, Onsen, and Room were all excellent. I especially appreciated that, since the bath was semi-open-air, there were no insects floating in the tub. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity!

    A Relaxing Time

    The moment I stepped into the Room, I was thrilled by the blue ocean stretching out right in front of me! The view was even more beautiful than in the photos, and it naturally brought a smile to my face. Soothing music playing in the Room, the Onsen, coffee and beer, and truly delicious meals—I enjoyed every bit of it. Early the next morning, I was able to watch a sunrise that felt like something out of a Monet painting. It’s a Hotel I genuinely want to visit again.

    I stayed here on a solo trip as a special treat. They offer a solo-travel Plan, and I chose the one that allows a 22-hour stay, so even though it was a 1-night, 2-day trip, I was able to relax at an unhurried pace. All Rooms here come with an open-air bath. It was my first time staying at a Hotel with an in-room open-air bath, and everything was well maintained—the bath was clean and comfortable. The water temperature was just right, and I ended up soaking many times. The Room was also spacious with large windows, and it felt luxurious to have the ocean view all to myself. There was one angle where I slightly wondered if it might be visible from the house in front, but aside from that I was very satisfied. I had been looking forward to the meals as well. Dinner was French-style with plenty of seafood, and everything tasted great. I don’t like overly strong seasoning, but the flavors here were just right, and each dish portion wasn’t too heavy either. Breakfast is served in a sandwich style (you can choose from six options the day before). I chose “Seafood Sour Cream,” which included bigfin reef squid, octopus, scallop adductor muscle, shrimp, avocado, capers, and sour cream—delicious. I also wanted to try the pâté de campagne too, so I felt a little disappointed that if I had been traveling as two people we could have enjoyed both. Other classic options like hot dogs and BLTs are also available. This restaurant also overlooks the ocean right in front of you for an open and refreshing view. The staff were very polite and friendly throughout my stay; they were attentive in their service. When I asked about the Room refrigerator not feeling cold enough, they replaced it promptly and even checked afterward to make sure everything was fine. They also provide Shuttle Service from the nearest station, which is really helpful if you’re not traveling by car. Train service isn’t very frequent so access isn’t ideal in that sense—but it’s worth going out of your way for. Overall it turned into a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    A relaxing holiday with ocean views

    The view from the Room was wonderful, with a beautifully clear ocean view. The open-air bath with an ocean view was also very relaxing. Since I used it many times during my stay, I appreciated having extra towels and bottled water provided, and the bathrobe was comfortable and convenient. The Room was clean, and soft background music played through the speaker, which made it very easy to unwind. I was able to spend a peaceful, unhurried time while looking out at the sea.

    Dinner at the ocean-view restaurant, limited to just a few parties, was a truly wonderful experience. The Room was also spacious, and I would love to visit again for myself or with someone special. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel with Beautiful Views

    I ended up going to Atami on short notice and made a Reservation at this Hotel. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were just right. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was able to relax and take it easy. It was a fun girls’ trip.

    A comfortable, quiet Accommodation where you can relax peacefully

    The Room had a wonderful atmosphere and was very comfortable for a relaxing stay. Since I chose a Plan without meals, I wasn’t tied to any schedule and could rest at my own pace, which was great. The Room was clean, calm, and relaxing with views of greenery—perfect when you want to refresh on your own or spend some quiet time. The location requires a bit of attention when getting there, but that also made it easier to unwind. Thank you very much.

    A retreat for couples at an auberge.

    We took the Shinkansen to Atami Station on Friday afternoon, called from the station, and were picked up at Izu-Taga Station, so we arrived smoothly. The staff carried our luggage up the stairs to the front desk and went ahead by stairs to our Room floor (not riding in the elevator with guests). Their explanations at check-in, as well as the descriptions of each dish and the pairing wines during dinner, were polite and easy to understand. The service was smart and unobtrusive, allowing us to relax comfortably. Needless to say, the view from Room 304 was stunning—like looking at a painting through a single pane of glass. The glass was so clean that it reflected the scenery, adding a wonderful sense of openness. Thank you for your attentive hospitality. We did feel that, compared with the size of the living area, both the sofa height and TV size were a bit underwhelming. However, spending most of our time enjoying the view from the balcony, soaking in the Onsen bath, or gazing outside from bed allowed us—as a couple—to slowly reset all five senses. The Onsen was at a temperature perfect for lingering in comfort and warmed us through to our core. Dinner was an innovative French full course that never felt heavy; we truly enjoyed ingredients such as conger eel from Odawara, Izu venison, and Atami daidai citrus—an experience that stimulated all five senses—together with your recommended pairing wines. Breakfast was lighter in consideration of dinner yet still satisfying and nutritious; we also enjoyed the enzyme juice made with 75 ingredients. Thank you for giving us a retreat surrounded by Izu-Taga’s nature—so different from bustling central Atami. We would love to visit again in another season and look forward to enjoying a starry sky on clear weather days; we hope to stop by Sengokuhara as well. Thank you as well for seeing us off at the station until very last moment. We also enjoyed riding on “Aloha Train.”

    A special place that makes you want to come back again.

    I stayed here as a solo traveler. Even before I arrived, there was something that truly warmed my heart. I hadn’t requested the Shuttle Service in advance, but they kindly called me on the day to ask, “Shall we come pick you up?” and to let me know, “Trains only run once every 30 minutes, so please be careful.” Although I hadn’t even reached the Accommodation yet, I could already feel how warmly they were welcoming me, and it made me very happy. The Room I stayed in this time was a spacious 63 m²—far more than enough for one person. The guest room has an Onsen bath, and you can soak as many times as you like at any time while looking out at the sea. Soaking in the Onsen while watching the sunrise; soaking during the day while gazing at the calm ocean; soaking at night while feeling the quiet sea—this is exactly the kind of luxurious time I was able to enjoy. Two bottled beers were prepared in the Room, and being able to enjoy them freely was a lovely touch. There was also plenty of water provided, along with a great selection of drinks such as coffee, green tea, black tea, and jasmine tea—so I never had any trouble finding something to drink during my stay. In addition, their original amenities were well stocked, and I could feel thoughtful attention even in the smallest details. Throughout my stay, their wish for guests to “spend their time comfortably” really came through. Thanks to that comfort, there was no need to go out—I could soak in the Onsen while looking at the sea, relax on the sofa, then return to the Onsen again. It was an ideal way to spend time. It felt as if I were staying at my own private villa. For dinner I chose an upgraded Plan—and it was absolutely worth it. From filet steak and foie gras onward, every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. Enjoying French cuisine slowly while watching the ocean scenery shift from evening into night was truly exceptional. Breakfast also exceeded my expectations—I could take my time and enjoy it along with the view. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully executed dish by dish; I felt I fully experienced what makes an auberge so special. Of course both the Onsen and cuisine were wonderful—but what impressed me most about this Accommodation is how wholeheartedly you can enjoy “the luxury of doing nothing.” On checkout day I felt a little sad to leave—but that only shows how comfortable my time here truly was. I’ve visited Atami many times before, but now I have found a special place that makes me want to return again each season. Thank you very much for such a wonderful stay.

    The food, service, and views were all excellent—we were completely satisfied.

    We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Two years ago we stayed at Fontainebleau Sengokuhara and had a very comfortable visit, so we had high expectations this time as well—and it turned out to be another wonderful stay. Our Room was PRIME ROOM 304. The view is spectacular, with the ocean stretching out beyond the large windows. From the photos, we were a little worried the bathtub might feel small, but in reality it was spacious enough for two people. There is glass (the door opens), so it feels slightly less open in that sense, but thanks to the generous size and great view, we were able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. Dinner was French cuisine featuring local ingredients. Just reading the menu is exciting. We chose the four-glass wine pairing option. The menu also includes explanations of how each wine pairs with the dishes actually served (which I found quite rare). The staff’s explanations were clear and easy to follow, and we enjoyed both the food and wine. Breakfast is sandwich-style, with six options to choose from. It also comes with salad, soup, yogurt, and dessert—more than enough in terms of volume—and felt like a stylish breakfast at a resort café. The building was renovated from a Hitachi retreat facility, so there were a few places where you could sense its age, but the comfort of the Room and how delicious the meals are make that feel insignificant. It has a completely different atmosphere from central Atami; with a quiet setting near a fishing port, it truly feels like a hidden getaway. The staff were kind and provided polished service throughout. As they change their seasonal menus regularly, we would love to return again.

    It was an ideal place for a solo stay.

    I made a last-minute Reservation, and the staff responded with great care. The meals were truly memorable—especially the venison at dinner, which was absolutely delicious! I also enjoyed the bath many times. During the Shuttle Service, they even carried my luggage until the very end, which I really appreciated.

    The best cuisine, the best views

    The cuisine exceeded my already high expectations. I fully enjoyed seasonal seafood and mountain delicacies—especially the delicious Izu venison! I also liked that the portions weren’t too large, and the dessert selection was excellent. I chose the wine pairing, and it was outstanding—each pairing enhanced both the dishes and the wines. The staff maintained a comfortable level of attentiveness while being considerate throughout, making my stay very pleasant. Our Room was on the third floor with a stunning panoramic ocean view. With a free-flowing Onsen as well, it couldn’t have been better. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

    Completely satisfied with the views, the meals, and the service!

    I don’t usually add meals when traveling solo, but the Reviews were so good that I stayed with both dinner and breakfast included. I felt a bit nervous at dinner since there were many couples, but a staff member—like a sommelier—carefully explained the pairings, and I truly enjoyed the wine and food to the fullest. It was also wonderful to dine while looking out at the sea. The ocean view from the Room was breathtaking, and simply zoning out on the balcony watching the waves felt blissful. I also used the semi-open-air bath many times. It was an incredibly relaxing 2-day, 1-night stay where there wasn’t a single thing to worry about. I’m thinking of gifting this stay to my parents for their wedding anniversary, and I’d love to come back myself as well.

    We stayed to celebrate my partner’s birthday. From arrival to check-out, every staff member was extremely courteous, and we could truly feel their thoughtful attention to detail, which made our time there very special. The cuisine unique to an auberge was also outstanding—each dish was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. We could appreciate the seasonal touches and the quality of the ingredients, and it’s the kind of meal that makes us want to come back just for the food. The Room was comfortable with a calm atmosphere, allowing us to relax and take our time. It was a stay worthy of an important anniversary, and we are sincerely grateful.

    Stayed in Room 101 with a two-meal Plan. For dinner, I chose venison from the light course where you can select either fish or meat as the main. At my age, the portion size of the light course was just right.
