    Delicious and beautifully presented cuisine with relaxing Onsen.

    The dishes were innovative in presentation, carefully prepared, and delicious, making the experience very enjoyable. Breakfast felt a bit light, but considering the hearty dinner, it might have been just right. Both types of baths were pleasant and clean, helping to relieve both body and mind fatigue. One downside was that the Room's air conditioning didn’t work well, and combined with thick bedding, it was too hot to sleep comfortably. All staff members were friendly with warm smiles.     No satisfaction

    I planned to relax in the Onsen in a semi-open-air bath attached to the room, but since there was no washing area and it was only for soaking, I ended up going to the large public bath. The renovated and clean room with a separate toilet was a nice touch. However, the highly-rated meals were extremely small in portion, leaving me to fill up on rice. Breakfast was also Japanese-style only, with similarly limited side dishes, which was disappointing. That said, the presentation and tableware were absolutely lovely.

    Great location, Onsen, meals, and staff make this a wonderful Hotel.

    A beautiful Hotel located on the shores of Lake Chuzenji. The view from the Room is excellent, and the morning and evening scenery was truly soothing. The meals were well-balanced, with the vegetable-focused steamed dishes being particularly delicious. The two types of Onsen were also satisfying, and I would love to visit again if given the chance!

    I had a relaxing stay.

    We chose this accommodation in Oku-Nikko for its theme of escaping the summer heat and enjoying the onsen. The staff had wonderful smiles and were very welcoming, and the facilities were clean, making for an overall satisfying stay. That said, I would like to mention a couple of points that caught my attention. First, while it was nice to be served welcome tea, it was left on a tray on the table without further explanation. I wasn’t sure if I should take it off the tray myself (which I eventually did). Second, although not directly related to the hotel itself, the floor in the changing area of the public bath was soaked—likely because a previous guest didn’t dry themselves properly before walking around. While this may have been bad timing as it seemed to absorb over time due to its material, perhaps some clear notices could be provided for guests (possibly international visitors) about proper etiquette. Regarding meals, dinner offered enjoyable surprises and creativity. However, I felt that the final meat dish (thinly sliced lean meat?) seemed somewhat forced into place—it cooked too quickly and became dry. Considering how delicious everything else was up until then, it felt slightly out of sync with the overall flow of dishes. As for breakfast, while there wasn’t a standout main dish by design, I found their dashi-chazuke quite tasty. Wanting a relaxing experience, we opted for a room with an open-air bath attached. The bath was clean and comfortable with perfectly adjusted water temperature—very pleasant indeed! However, our room’s design included high walls likely intended for privacy but unfortunately limited any view; unless standing up outside of the tub itself only sky could be seen—detracting slightly from an otherwise serene atmosphere. All in all though—it was lovely soaking in onsen waters at leisure while enjoying delicious food alongside attentive service from staff members who truly made us feel at ease. Thank you very much!

    It was a peaceful and wonderful time.

    The charming interior and clean Rooms provided a relaxing stay. The staff's hospitality was attentive and pleasant. Every meal was delicious, beautifully presented, and carefully prepared. The overall balance of the dishes was excellent, offering a healthy experience without any heaviness, which made me feel great physically. For those who want to enjoy hearty meat dishes, there is an option to order beef steak separately, making it satisfying for all age groups. The outdoor bath with a gentle sulfur aroma left my skin feeling smooth and refreshed. I had a peaceful and relaxing two-night stay that created wonderful memories.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    The view of Lake Chuzenji from the room is stunning, but what impressed us even more was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. The meals were excellent and left us completely satisfied. While we did notice some minor maintenance issues in the large public bath, overall, it still deserves a score of 95 or higher. We look forward to visiting again during the autumn foliage season.

    It was a disappointing accommodation.

    During the Obon season, I stayed at this Ryokan, and despite the high cost, it was disappointing in many ways. I do not wish to stay here again. **Positive Points** - The Onsen was good. - Efforts like post-bath drinks were appreciated. - The outdoor sulfur Onsen was excellent. - However, where is the display based on the Onsen law? It wasn’t noticeable at a glance; please improve this. - It wasn’t clear if the indoor bath was heated water or an actual Onsen, but it certainly wasn’t milky white water. **Disappointing Points** *Check-in* - I arrived by car during check-in time but there was no one to greet me. When I asked where to park my car, I received a curt response and was told where to park (Confusion 1). - After completing the check-in process, they said they would guide me to my Room but walked ahead briskly without carrying any luggage (Confusion 2). - They announced firmly that we could choose our yukata later but not now (Confusion 3). - An additional staff member entered the elevator silently and followed us without explanation—possibly a trainee? Still no help with luggage (Confusion 4). - Upon reaching the Room, they rushed through their explanation for their own convenience and left quickly without proper guidance (Confusion 5). The trainee didn’t say a word throughout. The staff member who guided us during check-in should be re-trained as this experience made me feel disappointed in this Ryokan from that moment onward. No guidance would have been better than poor guidance. *Dinner* At dinner time: I arrived first but was seated at an uncomfortable table in a cramped area. While I don’t know how seating assignments are decided, being placed there felt unfair compared to other tables—perhaps more thoughtfulness could be applied here? As for dinner itself: It seemed like effort had been put into it; thank you for your hard work. *Breakfast* Breakfast started quite late at around 8 AM which felt inconvenient; however, since it’s your rule we complied with it reluctantly. When arriving five minutes early: There were already people eating inside yet when entering we were told sternly that service hadn’t started yet so wait outside—even though others were visibly eating! There was no explanation provided about this inconsistency either. Once allowed inside after waiting until opening time: Again seated uncomfortably despite being first—did we do something wrong? Was our reservation last-minute or part of some cheaper Plan? Regarding breakfast service: We could choose when drinks would arrive ("before" or "after"), so choosing “before” still resulted in them arriving only after finishing most of breakfast—just before dessert pudding! Even after reminding staff mid-meal about missing drinks: They scolded us harshly saying orders are served sequentially so wait patiently—but honestly waiting endlessly isn’t ideal either even if busy situations arise!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    First of all, the staff's hospitality was exceptional. Check-in was done while seated with a welcome drink, followed by guidance and explanation to the room. The room was spacious with a great view. The onsen is small but has a pleasant sulfur scent and leaves your skin smooth. Cold drinks were thoughtfully provided near the exit of the bath, which was much appreciated. Dinner was visually stunning and delicious, with the staff's efficient service leaving a strong impression. Breakfast featured a tasty Japanese set meal, and the coffee service starting at 11:00 AM after breakfast was also delightful. It’s an accommodation I would love to stay at again.

    I had stayed here be...

    I had stayed here before and loved it, so I brought my parents this time. The meals are unique and incredibly delicious. The portions are reasonable, with a variety that keeps you interested until the last bite. The public bath has excellent water quality, and the availability of towels and amenities is very convenient. We stayed in a renovated room with an open-air bath, which offered stunning views—absolutely perfect. Although I have many places I want to visit as domestic travel is my hobby, I find myself wanting to return to this Hotel every few years despite thinking about exploring other destinations like Lake Chuzenji.

    The room's private bath with a view is exceptional.

    The closet panel was old, and some paint had peeled off, but the view from the room and the open-air bath were exceptional. From the room window, you can see Lake Chuzenji and a torii gate that look like a painting. There are few accommodations with such stunning views from the room. Additionally, the private open-air bath in the room was thoroughly cleaned with no slipperiness on either the floor or bath, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times comfortably. The meals were all delicious as well. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    A small yet cozy space

    I stayed for one night with my partner. The room's interior and view were breathtaking, and the moon-viewing platform overlooking Lake Chuzenji and the torii gate was a timeless delight. The private open-air bath in the guest room was spacious, perfectly complementing the cool early summer climate of Oku-Nikko for an incredibly comfortable experience. Meals featured a variety of Japanese dishes, each served in small portions but with enough variety to be satisfying. The staff were welcoming and friendly, making it an experience I would love to repeat and highly recommend to others.

    The guest rooms and facilities were excellent. The staff's hospitality was pleasant and professional. The cuisine, including its presentation, was creative and delicious. While the portion sizes were just right for us seniors, they might feel insufficient for younger guests. The variety of Plans on IKYU was extensive and appreciated.

    A Heartwarming Accommodation

    I stayed in a room at the perfect location I fell in love with through photos, fulfilling my long-held dream. When we arrived by car, the staff kindly greeted us with an umbrella at the parking lot, instantly lifting our spirits after a rainy day of sightseeing. As I had mentioned it was our 30th wedding anniversary and my birthday, they surprised us with heart-shaped towel art on the bed and a fruit plate after dinner. Their thoughtfulness truly touched me. The room's location was exceptional, and every detail—from the lighting and bedding design to the tableware and cuisine—was beautifully curated, offering both visual delight and emotional comfort for an unforgettable stay. Above all, the staff's warm hospitality made everything even more special. I would love to visit again if given another opportunity!

    Relaxing Stay

    The view of Lake Chuzenji from the room was stunning and very soothing. I enjoyed bringing books from the lounge and spending a relaxing time. The food was absolutely delicious, with beautifully presented dishes that were a feast for the eyes as well. The tableware was also adorable. The Onsen experience was unique, with different water qualities in the indoor and outdoor baths, which I found fascinating. The temperature was lukewarm, just to my liking. Additionally, having towels available in the large public bath area was very convenient! (Some accommodations require you to bring towels from your room, so this was greatly appreciated.) I also loved that there were recommendations for nearby sightseeing spots on the TV in our room! Each introduction reflected the staff's passion and made me want to visit every place mentioned! Among their recommendations, we visited Nikko Futarasan Shrine Chugushi and a nearby café—both were wonderful experiences that created great memories for us.

    A Wonderful Birthday Trip

    I stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday trip! The welcome drink and free drinks available before the Onsen were great! Towels are provided at the Onsen, so you can go empty-handed! All the staff were wonderful, and I’m so glad we could stay at such a lovely Hotel! The food was delicious, there are many tourist spots nearby, and the view of Lake Chuzenji from this beautiful Hotel was breathtaking! Thank you very much!

    It was an accommodation that provided complete satisfaction and healing for both mind and body.

    My sister, my son, and I enjoyed a dream trip to Nikko. After an early morning of hiking, trekking, and visiting temples, we stayed at this hotel. Though compact, everything from the room's view to the meals and the staff's hospitality was exceptional. The meals were healthy with plenty of vegetables but still filling. My son’s appetite after hiking was fully satisfied as additional rice servings were available. The large public bath was equipped with towels, and the open-air Onsen left our skin smooth while providing a relaxing experience—we ended up soaking in it three times! One minor inconvenience was that since there were three of us in one room, a futon had to be laid out on the raised area where we usually kept the table. This left no space for enjoying tea comfortably. On the second day, rain prevented sightseeing; however, we spent a leisurely time until check-out enjoying free drinks while gazing at Lake Chuzenji in the rain. The guests were mostly older adults which made for a quiet and peaceful atmosphere—truly an excellent accommodation for relaxation. Choosing this hotel made our trip to Nikko even more memorable—thank you very much!

    Cozy Hotel

    The facilities are new, the room size is reasonable, and it was comfortable to stay. The quality and quantity of the food were excellent, making this one of the hotels I would like to stay at again. The bath is not very large, but it was nice that it was not crowded both in the morning and evening. Looking forward to staying again!

    The view was magnificent.

    It was quiet and very pleasant during the off-season. The meals were reasonably tasty, but I was disappointed to find dried rice stuck to the rice bowl. The ReFa hair dryer was a great feature, but it was inconvenient that there were no skincare products in the Room. The view from the Room was amazing, and when I sent photos to everyone, they were highly praised.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    I wanted to catch a taxi around Toshogu Shrine to get to the Hotel, but I couldn't find one. I asked the Hotel to call a taxi company for me, but they responded that it would likely be difficult and suggested waiting there or taking a bus. Even if that were the case, saying something like "It might be hard to find one, but I'll try calling for you" would have left a better impression.

    The view was amazing.

    I stayed in a room with an observation bath, and as others have mentioned, the view was spectacular. I visited during the off-season winter, and it was amazing to relax while watching the snow gently fall, overlooking Nikko's mountain range and the lake, or soaking in the onsen. The temperature of the observation bath was perfectly adjusted, so there was no need to add water. It felt like the room met my expectations perfectly, so I would recommend it to anyone unsure about which room to choose. I stayed for two nights, and I was pleased that the meal menu changed each day. The food tasted excellent as well. Additionally, there were plenty of bath towels provided in the room, and extra towels were available at the large public bath area too—this made it very convenient without worrying about running out of towels. However, one minor issue was that there wasn’t a place in the room to hang used towels. Since it was a quiet season, many nearby shops were closed; however, strolling leisurely around the lake while bundled up warmly with hardly any people around turned out to be quite enjoyable. I’d love to visit again during another season!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    We stayed in a room with a private bath offering a great view. Despite the heavy snow, the view from the room was stunning, and the bath was perfect for warming up our chilled bodies. The Onsen in the room could be adjusted to a cooler temperature by adding water, and we were informed that it could also be made hotter upon request at the front desk, which was very convenient for those who prefer hotter baths. The public baths were also excellent, offering two different types of spring water to enjoy. The outdoor sulfur Onsen was particularly outstanding. As for service, both the young male staff member who guided us to our room and the young female staff member who saw us off during checkout were very pleasant and professional. Although many accommodations no longer provide send-offs during checkout these days, they carried our luggage through the cold snow and waved us off until we reached the road. It reminded me that good service is not determined by age but by attitude. I am grateful to these staff members for their thoughtful and courteous hospitality. Regarding meals, they featured locally sourced dishes with an emphasis on vegetables—beautifully presented with just the right portions. It would be wonderful if organic vegetable options could be included in future menus as well! The Tochigi Koshihikari rice served was sweet and delicious; while it paired well as ochazuke (rice with tea), enjoying it plain allowed us to fully appreciate its natural flavor. Due to weather conditions this time around, we couldn’t relax as much as we had hoped but look forward to visiting again in another season!

    The view from the Ro...

    The view from the Room was stunning when we were guided to it. The meals were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Both dinner and breakfast portions were just right. The miso soup served at breakfast in a small cup left a memorable impression. The bath was excellent, but perhaps due to the sudden drop in temperature, adjusting the temperature of the open-air bath seemed challenging, so we could only enjoy it leisurely in the morning, which was a bit disappointing. Although it's far from Osaka, I hope to visit again someday. Thank you very much! As a side note, it seems that some guests may not log out of YouTube on shared devices; perhaps issuing a reminder would be helpful.
