    We stayed for a one-...

    We stayed for a one-night, two-day family trip. We booked a Japanese-Western style Room with a bath, and the open-air bath in the Room was excellent. The Room was also very clean, and we were very satisfied.

    The room and the meals were excellent.

    I made a Reservation under the Anniversary Plan for a Room with an open-air bath and sauna. The Room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. I thought it would be even better if the sauna offered loyly, but I truly enjoyed it together with the open-air bath and used them many times. For meals, we dined at Jurin Garden for both breakfast and dinner. The crab and every other dish were delicious, and the sushi in particular had excellent toppings! We were also happy to find Oropo and sparkling wine prepared in the Room. We appreciated the thorough explanation at check-in, and at check-out we were kindly asked whether we had been able to adjust the Room temperature and Onsen temperature as needed, which made our stay very pleasant. On our way home, we talked about how we would love to come back someday as a treat even when it’s not a special occasion like a birthday. We’ll definitely visit again someday!

    I was very satisfied overall, except for the pool Facility.

    The free-flowing natural Onsen, Room, meals, and staff were all high quality, and we were satisfied that it was worth the price. One area for improvement: the pool room temperature was low, and both the jacuzzi and pool water were cold, so we couldn’t enjoy it for even 30 minutes. Also, small concrete-like fragments were scattered on the bottom of the pool and stuck into our feet; it was painful and felt like a child could get hurt.

    The buffet is surprisingly delicious.

    We stayed at this Hotel mainly to visit Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort. The Room was comparable to a Business Hotel. The buffet was surprisingly good. The plunge pool was a big hit with the kids, and they really enjoyed it. The Onsen had a strong chlorine smell, and disappointingly there was no sulfur scent at all despite being in Kusatsu. If you are not here for skiing, a Hotel near Yubatake would be a better choice.

    A Hotel with a wide range of fun activities for the whole family

    We stayed here on the second night of our 2-night, 3-day trip to Kusatsu Onsen as a family (two adults and one 8-year-old child). We take about 40 family trips a year. [Location] It’s a bit far to walk from Yubatake, the center of Kusatsu Onsen. It’s convenient to travel by car or use the Shuttle Service from Yubatake. [Room] The Room has been fully renovated and is very clean. When you open the door, you can see a glass-enclosed semi-open-air bath straight ahead. The living area has a sloped ceiling with generous height, creating an open and airy space. The fittings around the washbasin area can be opened wide and designed to integrate with the Room, and we found the overall design very beautiful. On the other hand, it seems the heating uses existing equipment, so we felt it was somewhat difficult to adjust the room temperature. [Shared Facilities] There is a pool that can be used even in winter, which is why we chose this Hotel since our child loves swimming. The pool provides water-play toys that guests can use freely. There were also plenty of kid-friendly options such as a snow-play area. [Dining] Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style. Although entry times are assigned, it felt like there weren’t quite enough seats in the restaurant; even when we arrived at our designated time, we waited about 20–30 minutes. It’s best to allow extra time. The buffet offers many dishes that children enjoy and is clearly geared toward families. Basically all guests use the same buffet style regardless of Room type. Since Accommodation Fees vary widely by Room category at this Hotel, satisfaction will likely be high if you choose a reasonably priced Room; however, guests staying in higher categories may find it slightly underwhelming. Seating includes various options such as booth seating and semi-private-style tables, but seat assignment seemed to depend on timing. [Onsen] This time we did not use the large public bath because our Room had a semi-open-air bath. The in-room bath feels outdoorsy but isn’t meant for enjoying views. It can be closed off with privacy screens, but if left fully open some guests may feel concerned about visibility from nearby buildings. [Overall] With many facilities for children to enjoy, this is a fun Hotel for families. Considering the dining and service content overall, we felt we could have chosen a more reasonably priced Room instead. They also appear to offer Shuttle Service to ski resorts, so it seems like a good option for winter ski trips as well.

    Your First Time in Kusatsu Onsen

    I was very satisfied with the dinner buffet. As a big crab lover, I really enjoyed all the crab dishes. The steak was also delicious and truly impressive. The sushi rice is dispensed automatically, so it was too soft and fell apart. The large public bath has a lot of stairs, so it may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. Also, the moment I put my feet into the tub, it felt slippery from the Onsen minerals and I almost slipped—please be careful when entering. In the Room during winter, I couldn’t adjust the air conditioner temperature from inside the Room, so it stayed hot and I kept the window open. I hope this can be improved. There is a free shuttle bus from the Hotel to Yubatake, so I could enjoy Yubatake both during the day and at night. However, the last bus back to the Hotel from Yubatake at night is 9:30 PM. Even when trying to take a taxi back, service had already ended early, so we had to walk back to the Hotel up many stairs and slopes. Since Yubatake is illuminated until midnight, I would be happy if at least 10:00 PM were available as the last bus. This is an Accommodation I would like to stay at again.

    I’ve visited Kusatsu...

    I’ve visited Kusatsu several times, but this was my first stay at this Accommodation. First of all, the Onsen was wonderful. The outdoor bath while watching the snow in the cold weather warmed me up, and the temperature was just right—perfect. The buffet was also delicious, with many vegetable-based dishes, and I was very satisfied. In the evening, there was a Shuttle Service to Yubatake, so I could go see it beautifully illuminated. Thank you for helping me have such a fulfilling time. Thank you very much.

    It was wonderful!

    We stayed in a Room with a terrace and an open-air bath. The price was on the higher side, but it was a Hotel well worth the cost. The hot spring water quality, pool, amenities, hospitality, meals, interior design, services, access, Room, and in-room bath were all excellent. However, the meals were buffet-style, and the desserts were lacking in both quality and variety, so I would rate only the dining 3 stars.

    Feels nostalgic... Resort Hotel

    To enjoy skiing for the first time in 10 years, I chose Kusatsu Onsen—so even if skiing didn’t work out, I could still enjoy the Onsen. Nau Resort is close to both the slopes and Yubatake. I used to stay at budget Accommodation when skiing, so paying JPY 30,000 for one night with dinner at a Resort Hotel felt like an adult luxury trip. In the end, it didn’t feel worth the cost. Room: A two-bed Room with a small raised tatami area—an older Showa/Heisei-era Resort Hotel vibe. It reminded me how useful a tatami area is during ski trips for changing and getting ready. No auto-lock, and even the bathroom faucets felt old-fashioned. Was my building not renovated? JPY 30,000 for this is hard to justify... Skiing: The ski rental shop I expected to be inside was actually in a separate building—you have to go outside. Inconvenient. There’s no place to change at the rental shop, so you rent your gear, go back to the Hotel, change in a banquet space provided by the Hotel, then return to the rental shop. Very troublesome. Also, it’s uphill to reach the slopes, so walking is tough. You can take the Shuttle Service bus, but there’s no return bus in the morning until 12:00. On our last day we planned to finish early and eat in town, but we couldn’t get back to the Hotel during the 11 o’clock hour and it caused problems. It was stated that discounted lift tickets were available from the Hotel, but they weren’t. Baths: As expected from Kusatsu! The baths are spacious; there are both lukewarm and hot indoor baths plus an open-air bath as well. There’s also a sauna and cold bath. The water has Kusatsu’s strong acidic quality with a slightly thick feel—very satisfying! However, there are no towels in the bath area; you have to bring them from your Room. Also, it’s tucked away in a corner of the Hotel so getting there takes some effort. Meals: A Plan with dinner only included. The seasonal highlight was all-you-can-eat snow crab (zuwai crab). Snow crab was piled high in the center of buffet area without running out; scissors and crab picks were provided so you can fully enjoy it without hesitation. I wasn’t expecting much, but it wasn’t watery—it tasted like proper crab. Other than that there were many options (Chinese food, Western dishes Japanese food sushi desserts), but nothing particularly memorable... just a typical family-hotel buffet. JPY 20,,000 per night would be about right at most..

    A very spacious Hotel

    We were looking for a place that offers a celebration Plan for our wedding anniversary. The dinner course came with cake and sparkling wine. The buffet was beautifully presented and delicious, with so many tempting dishes that we left completely full. The baths, including the open-air bath, had wonderfully soothing water.

    This winter marks our 4th year visiting for a Multiple Night Stay of three nights every year.

    I’ve visited many resort hotels across Japan, and the buffet at Kusatsu Now Resort is the best among them. This year, live piano music was added during dinner. Perhaps the excellent variety and quality of the food reflect that it is part of the long-established Naraya group. This year marks its 50th anniversary, but because the Facility and Rooms have been renovated year by year, it doesn’t feel particularly old. If I had to mention a downside, the Room heating cannot be adjusted individually, so it was too warm inside. Also, the sofa bed’s springs were a bit firm and could be felt directly through my body; combined with the heat, I unfortunately couldn’t sleep well. I hope these points will be improved by my next visit next year.

    We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We made a Reservation for a Room with an open-air bath, and since it was the season, we were able to relax and enjoy a snowy-view bath! I also requested a surprise birthday cake and champagne. Because I’m pregnant, I asked for non-alcoholic sparkling wine. The one in the Room was non-alcoholic, but during dinner, the sparkling wine served with the cake was alcoholic. I felt a little disappointed that I couldn’t enjoy it together with my husband if it had been non-alcoholic. However, it was probably part of the service and not something I had fully confirmed myself, so I have no complaints. We used the buffet for both dinner and breakfast, and everything was delicious—we were full and happy. I’d like to stay here again when we visit Kusatsu.

    It was excellent.

    My first time in Kusatsu! A blogger I like had visited, so I made a Reservation. We stayed in a Room with a sauna, and it was incredibly clean and very comfortable. It didn’t feel unclean at all. Also, it was great that shoes aren’t worn indoors. The shop even sells alcohol—perfect. The food was delicious too. My boyfriend and I went home very satisfied! Highly recommended.

    This was my second s...

    This was my second stay. Every dish at the dinner and breakfast buffet was delicious. I was very satisfied to be able to see the snow from the open-air bath. We stayed in a top-floor twin Room, but I noticed some streaks, as if the windows and mirrors hadn’t been wiped clean. I would like to stay again next year.

    The Room with a free...

    The Room with a free-flowing Onsen is very comfortable, and I keep coming back. Being able to enjoy an excellent Onsen anytime you feel like it, right away, is a real luxury. It’s also a big plus that you can play table tennis after skiing—there are far fewer upscale Hotel properties with table tennis these days. Congratulations on your 50th anniversary, and please continue providing great service in the years ahead.

    Concierge Mindset

    As we did last year, we spent the New Year holidays here. It’s easy to access from Ikebukuro by bus, with a stop right at the Hotel entrance, so travel is not too tiring. Although it was a Standard Twin, the Room was spacious, and our child’s bed was a sofa bed that folds out. Even with three beds, we could still open our suitcases. The slopes are within walking distance—about 15 minutes going there, and under 10 minutes on the way back since it’s downhill. The Shuttle Service made it convenient to get to the slopes and to Yubatake as well. At night, the illuminated Yubatake looked magical. At the front desk, it didn’t feel like they were yet used to concierge-style questions or support that anticipates guests’ plans and activities. I’m reducing my rating in hopes of improvement. The restaurant staff and ski rental staff were very professional and kind. The buffet meals were delicious and included osechi dishes. The salad dressings, morning acai drink(s), and chimaki were especially good. There was also complimentary sake for New Year’s. The playroom was fun, and we were very satisfied with the campfire marshmallow roasting and the baths as well.

    Very satisfied.

    We stayed in a room with a semi-open-air bath. The hot spring water was free-flowing and on the hotter side, but there were water and hot water buttons for easy adjustment, which was convenient. The room provided both gowns and yukatas, and it was nice that the alcohol provided in the room could be switched to non-alcoholic options. There is a bus to Yubatake for easy access, but it’s also about a 15-minute walk if you go on foot. However, walking back might be tough due to the uphill slope. For dinner, we chose a plan without a buffet option. While everything tasted delicious, one bowl of rice per person wasn’t enough for my companion; it would have been great if refills or serving from the pot were available. We’d love to stay here again!

    The meals were delicious.

    Dinner featured an all-you-can-eat crab buffet. The delicious crab dishes were plentiful and impressive, and the other meals were also delightful. Breakfast was equally enjoyable. The bath was very relaxing and refreshing. As expected, Kusatsu is truly wonderful. It would be great if the Room's air conditioning could be adjusted to a weaker setting—it was too hot. The ventilation window near the main window kept opening, which was inconvenient; I used paper to keep it closed temporarily. Waking up to a snowy white landscape in the morning was breathtakingly beautiful. I would love to visit again!

    Everything is standard.

    I stayed in a room costing close to 100,000 yen. It was a room with an open-air bath and sauna. From my past experiences, accommodations offering rooms priced around 100,000 yen or more are typically considered "luxury" and provide an extraordinary experience worth the price. Such accommodations usually offer comfort starting from the front desk. However, perhaps this is a sign of changing times. Despite paying such a high amount, the hotel staff's service, the room itself, and even the meals were all just "average," which truly surprised me this time. I even had to fill up water for the humidifier myself (laughs). This was my first time experiencing that after paying 100,000 yen for a stay! Whether it's called dynamic pricing or something else, I hope IKYU.com takes these factors into consideration as well. Is 100,000 yen justified as an appropriate price for luxury accommodation? Or is it simply due to seasonal demand or pricing aimed at foreign tourists? Without clarifying this to customers, I don't think it’s right to claim being a "luxury hotel and ryokan reservation site." This experience has been educational for me; however, if asked whether I would stay at this hotel again at the same price—my answer would be an unequivocal "NO."

    This was my wife's f...

    This was my wife's first trip to Kusatsu. We were able to enjoy a relaxing stay at this resort facility located in the mountains. The staff were very well-trained and kind, which made our experience even better. The room we stayed in was thoroughly cleaned and very tidy. However, it was a bit disappointing that the room, being a twin room with an open-air bath on the terrace, did not have windows to enjoy the view despite visiting during the autumn foliage season. Next time, we hope to stay in a room with both great views and an open-air bath. It was a very pleasant hotel—thank you!

    It was a comfortable Hotel.

    The staff was very accommodating, and the Room and large public bath were kept clean, making for a comfortable stay. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with a wide variety of delicious options that left us fully satisfied. Even after checking out, being allowed to park the car in the parking lot and use the shuttle bus was incredibly helpful and much appreciated.

    Thank you for your hospitality. Although it was located away from the center of Kusatsu, the shuttle bus made it easy to access, which was great. The meals were served buffet-style and were delicious; however, it was disappointing that both dinner and breakfast offered similar dishes with little variation. Additionally, during our Multiple Night Stay, the menu remained almost entirely unchanged, which was quite disappointing as well. It would have been nice if at least 2-3 main dishes had been different. The side dishes may have changed slightly, but it wasn’t very noticeable.

    Accommodation you'll want to visit again

    This was my first trip to Kusatsu, and the Ryokan was absolutely wonderful both in appearance and interior design. Nestled in the forest, it was completely free from external noise. A free shuttle bus from the Hotel to Yubatake runs every 15 to 30 minutes, allowing guests to easily enjoy Kusatsu Onsen after check-in. The private open-air bath in the room was excellent, and I used it about five times during my stay. The staff, including reception, dining, and drivers, provided warm and pleasant service. It was a Ryokan I would love to stay at again in Kusatsu.

    Room with Terrace

    The room was comfortable and well-designed, allowing for a relaxing stay with multiple baths to unwind. It was nice to watch TV through the glass. The quality of the Onsen was excellent, and the service was outstanding, even including champagne. The meals were delicious, with plenty of fresh fruits. The live piano performance and singing were also enjoyable. The view from the terrace was not as expected, so the room's name might need reconsideration. It was fine without a view, but it was surprising at first—no mountains, just buildings! It made us laugh.

    It was amazing! I want to visit again!

    I used this place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Considering the service, food, and Facility, the price felt very reasonable, and it was an excellent experience. Thank you so much! He was very happy, and it turned out to be the best birthday ever! Since it was rainy, I’d love to visit again on a sunny day! I rated some aspects as 4 stars, but that’s only because I couldn’t select 4.5. Every aspect was very close to a perfect 5. The reasons for the 4-star ratings are: - The basement restroom was unisex, and it was a bit dark and scary. (This might be because I’m overly timid, but the men’s restroom was quite visible… haha.) - I truly appreciated the surprise birthday cake you prepared, but we couldn’t finish it. (I’m very sorry about that…) I wanted to try other desserts as well, so a slightly smaller or lighter cake option would be very helpful. (He loves chocolate, so we chose a chocolate cake. Sorry for being so particular…)
