We had a fun and comfortable stay.
The Room terrace was spacious and open, and the open-air bath was great as well. All the staff were kind, and we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay.

We were extremely satisfied!
We booked the buffet plan with both dinner and breakfast, and the food was simply delicious! We chose the buffet because we were traveling with elderly grandparents and an elementary school-aged child, so being able to pick what everyone liked was ideal. There were so many options we couldn’t possibly try everything, and we were very satisfied. They even made sushi right in front of us, and the quality was excellent! There is also a pool and outdoor play areas, which was really helpful for families with children. However, the private open-air bath costs extra, and the price varies by time slot. It felt quite worn down, which was disappointing. There were many areas that seemed unclean overall, so it didn’t feel worth the price. They will provide extra towels if you ask at the front desk, so even if you’re planning to use the pool or public bath, you can do so with peace of mind! Overall, it felt like a Hotel with great value for money. We’d love to stay again!

This is my 14th stay.
This was our 14th stay in just under a year, and this time we chose a renovated Japanese-Western style Room. Since it’s still new, it felt very clean, and the calm design with lots of wood was wonderful. Thank you as always to S at the front desk for your thoughtful care! A truly attentive and excellent hotel professional. This is a Hotel where the two of us can always make great memories together. Everyone should definitely try staying at this Hotel as it continues to be renovated and refreshed. The Onsen uses Bandai Mine source water, so it is colorless and clear; if you come expecting something like the Shirahata source at Yubatake, it may feel quite different. However, because it is strongly acidic, it will sting badly if it gets in your eyes.

A Room with an open-air bath is the only choice.
We’re usually a budget-minded family, but for the first time we splurged and made a Reservation for a Room with a private open-air bath. The free-flowing natural Onsen was excellent—great quality and absolutely amazing. The Room also felt newly renovated (maybe?) and was incredibly clean. I even checked for any dirt (laughs), but there was none at all—I was genuinely surprised. The meals might feel less impressive compared with other all-inclusive buffets, but everything tasted great. There was a line for the morning omelets, and the smoothies were fantastic. Since this is Kusatsu, it was perfect for our family who mainly comes for the Onsen. If your budget allows, I recommend reserving an Onsen-bath Room at this Hotel. By the way, when I used the large public bath right after check-in and again around 5 a.m., it felt like I had it all to myself. The open-air bath there was also great. One thing to note: there are stairs on the way to the large public bath, which may be difficult for guests with limited mobility. The in-Room bath is convenient because you can use it anytime—highly recommended.

Kusatsu is a wonderful place—come visit at least once.
My first time in Kusatsu Onsen. The water was truly wonderful and left my skin feeling refreshed. It was also my first stay at this Hotel; it has been renovated and feels new. Overall, everything was great—the baths, guest rooms, dining area, playroom, and more. However, there are many stairs and steps, so it may be a bit challenging for wheelchair users or elderly guests. Even during a Multiple Night Stay without bed-making service, they placed all amenities in a bag and hung it on the doorknob, which was very helpful. The Hotel staff were about half Japanese and half international—nothing out of the ordinary. Many of the housekeeping staff were international as well, but everyone greeted me and was kind. One downside: one of the shuttle bus drivers to/from Yubatake had rough manners. If you walk to Yubatake on the way there and take the bus back, the distance feels just right. A Hotel I would like to use again.

Enjoy the Highlands, Onsen, and Cuisine to the Fullest
We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days and had a wonderful time. The third-floor Room with an open-air bath was perfect for a Multiple Night Stay. The free-flowing Kusatsu hot spring water in the open-air bath, available anytime, was outstanding. For dinner, we chose Japanese cuisine, buffet, French, buffet, in that order. For the Japanese meal we selected shabu-shabu; there was a bit too much meat, but it was very delicious. The French dinner was exceptional in both content and taste. The buffet also felt like one of the best among resort Hotels we have experienced so far. While many Hotels are struggling to provide adequate service due to staff shortages, this place had plenty of staff who worked efficiently and pleasantly. One request: when reading in the Room, it was difficult because I couldn’t adjust the lighting freely. It would have been helpful if you could lend small portable lights—since some guests may prefer reading books rather than watching TV in their Room.

Satisfied
Stayed one night on a weekend in August. Listened to live piano music. Early check-in was available, and since it was still before 3:00 PM, we relaxed with a welcome drink while waiting. The pool isn’t very large, but it has a diving board and is 3 meters deep, so adults can enjoy it too. Float rings and other items are available to borrow for free at the Facility. The large public bath also has a sauna and an open-air bath—very satisfying. Our Room was for three people, but it felt very spacious. I also liked that the toilet and shower room were separate! For the buffet dinner, the Joshu beef steak was delicious, and there were American cherries and Shine Muscat grapes—my family loved them. Breakfast omelets were fluffy and creamy. Personally, I really enjoyed the chef’s homemade jam with warmed croissants. The salad bar had broccoli, so I wish there had been mayonnaise as well. Many of the staff were from overseas, but everyone greeted us properly. We’ll definitely stay again!

Facilities and Dining
It would be great if guests could use a table tennis table and similar facilities for free. It would be even better if the tempura were served freshly fried with a live cooking performance.

Great value for money
We stayed one night in a Room with an open-air bath, with buffet dinner and breakfast. The Hotel is a bit far from Yubatake, but the scheduled bus running between the Hotel, the bus terminal, and Yubatake made the distance a non-issue. Thanks to that, we could easily enjoy the illuminated Yubatake at night. While the exterior shows its age, the interior felt new—perhaps it has been renovated—and we were very comfortable in our Room. The open-air bath in the Room was excellent. Kusatsu’s free-flowing hot spring water is quite hot, and doing a little “yumomi” to cool it down was a great memory. The large public bath also had a lukewarm option, which was very relaxing. The food was neither outstanding nor disappointing and lacked something distinctive, but it was tasty. Overall, the value for money is excellent. In Kusatsu, getting a Room with an open-air bath for two people in the 60,000-yen range and receiving service of this quality left us very satisfied. This is a Hotel I would recommend to others.

I’d love to stay here again.
Everything was excellent—the Room, the baths, the food, the staff service, and the pool. We chose a loft-style Room, and it was very clean! However, for families with small children, we can’t recommend it because the ladder is steep and high. The baths were not crowded, so we could relax; the large public bath was very clean. We also had the pool almost to ourselves, and there were banana boats and other items available, which looked like a lot of fun. The buffet had a wide variety of options and everything was delicious. There were plenty of choices at breakfast as well. Our whole family loved it and we’d like to come again. Thank you very much.

My First Trip to Kusatsu
This was our first trip to Kusatsu, and choosing this property was the best decision! We traveled with our child, and there was a pool, shuttle service to and from Yubatake, delicious meals, and even a private open-air bath in the Room—our daughter was thrilled and enjoyed it so much. We would love to stay again.

This is a Hotel I highly recommend.
This time, we were able to stay at a great price. The Hotel is very spacious, and the Facilities—such as the pool, tennis courts, and table tennis area—are excellent, so you can fully enjoy your time even without leaving the Hotel. Also, a shuttle bus runs almost every hour between Yubatake and the bus terminal, so sightseeing is easy even without a car. The Room was very clean and well equipped. In addition to a hair dryer, there was a curling iron that can also be used as a straightener, a POLA skincare set, Nespresso coffee, complimentary bottled water, and even sparkling wine—so the amenities were more than enough with just makeup items and a change of clothes. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets offered an impressive variety of dishes. Everything was delicious, with plenty of desserts and fruits as well—we were satisfied until the very end. The open-air Onsen bath on the Room’s terrace was also spacious and relaxing, allowing us to enjoy the Onsen as many times as we liked at any time of day—it felt truly luxurious. The Facilities, meals, Room quality, and service all exceeded our expectations. We had an extremely satisfying stay overall, and we would definitely like to return when visiting Kusatsu again.

It was a nice Hotel.
The buffet meal was delicious, but I felt there were fewer options than expected. We booked a Room with an open-air bath, but since it was on the 3rd floor and the bath seemed visible from outside, we hesitated to use it a little. It did feel open and pleasant, but there was moss on the terrace and even a beehive, so we felt the terrace cleaning may not have been thorough. We had a Multiple Night Stay for 2 nights but used the public bath only once. There was no rinse bucket/shower for rinsing before entering, and there were fewer types of baths than expected, so it didn’t feel much different from a standard large public bath.

No special features.
This Hotel is very average in every respect, and I don’t understand why it is featured on IKYU.

Relax in your private open-air bath in the guest room.
We stayed here as a couple on our first trip to Kusatsu from Hokkaido. Check-in was smooth without any crowding, and all the staff were very kind, so we had a comfortable stay. The room was spacious, and we could relax in the private open-air bath in our room and enjoy the powerful Onsen. It was too hot and intense to enter without self “yumomi,” but after doing it, it became surprisingly easy to soak. The meals offered a wide variety and were delicious. The large public bath and pool are located further past the restaurant, and from our room it felt as far as walking from one end of a large Hotel to the other to reach the public bath and open-air bath, so we mostly used the private open-air bath in our room. It unfortunately started raining from evening on the first day, but by early afternoon the next day it cleared up, and we were able to stroll around from Yubatake. A Shuttle Service runs from the Hotel to Yubatake, which made getting around convenient. The ski resort is also close to the Hotel, so we would like to visit again in winter if we have the chance.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
The Room with an open-air bath was reasonably priced, and the free-flowing hot spring water was excellent. As soon as we entered, there were quite a few Baby Star Ramen snacks on the Room floor (from the previous guest?), but they cleaned it up right away. If there had been slippers in the Room (preferably disposable), it wouldn’t have bothered me as much. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. It was disappointing that the welcome coffee options were only sweetened; I’d like one of the two to be regular coffee. Overall, it was good value and we were satisfied.

Perfectly satisfied—except that I couldn’t connect HDMI to the TV.
The meals, the Room, the hair iron, the bath, and the sauna were all extremely satisfying! However, the TV doesn’t allow HDMI input and it isn’t a smart TV with internet features, so I brought a Fire TV Stick to have a movie night but couldn’t use it—unfortunately. Maybe it’s to prevent noise or other issues (which makes sense). If you’re planning a movie night, please be aware!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed for one night with both dinner and breakfast included. The front desk staff were polite and clear. We also appreciated the simple drink service in the guest lounge, which was a nice place to take a break. One thing that concerned us—also mentioned in other Reviews—was the “mountain view” Room with an open-air bath. It did not feel like a mountain view at all. From our third-floor Room, the view was very close to the Hotel’s front drop-off area and parking lot. Although there is a terrace deck and an open-air bath, you can’t really step out onto the terrace without something to cover up with. From the terrace, you face windows from other guest room floors, so it feels completely exposed. Also, while it is described as an open-air bath, it is installed within the Room area and uses an adjustable movable blind to block outside views. As a result, it felt much less open than expected, which was disappointing. The Room itself was spacious and more than adequate. One bottle of sparkling wine was provided as a complimentary service, but the dedicated glasses had a strong musty odor as if they hadn’t dried properly.... Regarding the Plan that includes rakugo: I think it may be difficult for guests who also have dinner included. Rakugo takes place after 7:00 p.m. near Yubatake, so travel time needs to be considered as well. At check-in we were offered two dinner time options (around 5:00 p.m. or around 7:00 p.m.) to avoid congestion; however, if you want to attend rakugo, you realistically can only choose the earlier slot around 5:00 p.m.. Yubatake is over 30 minutes on foot or about 10 minutes by bus from the Hotel. But if you choose early dinner, shuttle bus times toward Yubatake are limited—so when you factor in bathing time, dinner timing, and shuttle schedules, it becomes quite rushed overall. It may work well for guests on a Multiple Night Stay, but for a one-night stay I felt this Plan might be difficult. For reference."""

A Lovely Rainbow in Your Private Room
The staff are kind—highly recommended for a vacation. The parking lot also seemed to have plenty of space. We even saw a rainbow! The dining area in the basement and the area before the large public bath were excellent. For breakfast, omelets, and at night pasta, are cooked with butter by the staff! There are also table tennis, karaoke, and piano performances—the atmosphere is great. The piano playing had a few noticeable mistakes, though. The Room was spacious and comfortable. I gave up on the massage chair near the baths because it required 100-yen coins. There was also a competition-size pool. The large public bath was wonderful—the outdoor tub was the best. The waterfall bath next to it wasn’t running in the morning. Unfortunately, I missed the sauna since it’s only open from 2:00 PM until late at night. On the first floor there were camping-style areas, swing-like chairs, and hammocks—lots of fun.

A Couple’s Trip for the First Time in 30 Years
As we’ve gotten older, we decided to splurge a bit on this trip and made a Reservation for a Room with an open-air bath. We were satisfied with both the Room and the bath. The front desk service was also good. However, the bathrobe had a slight odor, which was disappointing. The large public bath wasn’t as impressive as expected; a private bath might have been better. The dinner and breakfast buffet used quality ingredients and was very delicious. Not sure if we would stay again.

A travel-loving couple
My spouse and I have stayed at around 20 Hotels and Ryokan so far. Among them, this had the best open-air bath for us. However, we wanted to enjoy the in-room open-air bath as soon as we arrived, but no hot water came out of the installed shower. When we asked the front desk, they said that because few people use it at that time, we need to leave the shower running for about 10 minutes before it gets hot. It felt like a waste of water, and I wish they had told us at check-in. After letting it run for about 10 minutes, it did become hot, but with water shortages, I wondered if this was really okay. Even after that, each time we used the bath it still took a long time to get hot water, so we put up with lukewarm water. There was also no direct phone number to reach the front desk; the only way to contact them was to go there in person. At dinner we were shown to our table and may have been given an explanation, but there was no explanation about the all-you-can-drink option, and it wasn’t written on any information sheet either. So while eating I assumed maybe that system had been discontinued. When I went to the designated area to order drinks and waited there, I noticed something on a tray saying where to return items for all-you-can-drink. When I asked if all-you-can-drink was available, they told me that if we wanted it we should sign up there. The way they spoke made it seem like guests are expected to already know how everything works, which left me feeling uneasy. Also during dinner there was a 90-minute limit—since it was crowded I could understand—but we were told all-you-can-drink is only 80 minutes; I felt it could simply be the same 90 minutes. In addition, at breakfast the microwave for warming bread was broken and couldn’t be used. In our Room bathroom sink as well (perhaps because the drain stopper sat too low), hardly any water drained away—disappointing. These were my impressions. That said, for us as a couple the open-air bath was wonderful. There were also tennis courts, putting golf and karaoke; although we didn’t use them this time, we felt this is a place where even two nights would be enjoyable. I’m writing this because I think with some improvements it could become an even better Accommodation.

This is a spacious Hotel.
I stayed for one night on a weekday. There was a free shuttle bus to and from Yubatake running regularly, so I was able to go see the illuminations after dinner. The Room with an open-air bath also had a yumomi paddle, which was fun. However, the shower in the Room was lukewarm and wouldn’t get hotter, so I asked staff to come and check it. It seems the temperature won’t rise unless you let it run for a while. After running it for about 30 minutes, it finally reached a comfortable temperature. Since this Room was at the far end of the second floor, the public bath, restaurant, and smoking area were all quite far away. At the restaurant, we were told not to take trays ourselves and to ask staff instead, but there were no staff near the trays, so we took one anyway. I don’t understand why guests aren’t allowed to take them themselves. The Hotel itself is clean and has plenty of activities to enjoy. I felt that it would have been even better if there were a few more live kitchen options.

The Onsen and meals ...
The Onsen and meals were very satisfying. The Room also seemed to have been renovated and was clean. We used the private open-air bath. Since there were stairs and it was far away, they provided a Shuttle Service for us. Because I have trouble with my legs, it was very helpful. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious no matter what we ate. What was disappointing was that we couldn’t use the air conditioner. The Room was hot, so we dealt with it by opening the window. One more thing: until around 12:30 a.m., the sound of children running around on the floor above was so loud that I couldn’t sleep. I want to be understanding since they were excited and playing, but it really didn’t help that I had forgotten my earplugs.

Highly satisfied (*´ー`*)
It was a Multiple Night Stay for two nights, and we were able to fully enjoy both the meals and the Onsen at a relaxed pace. The food at this Hotel is simply outstanding! We chose the sukiyaki course on the first day and the buffet on the next, and we were completely satisfied both days. Even the buffet dishes felt carefully prepared one by one, and everything was delicious. Personally, I loved that there were stylish salad toppings like cashews, macadamia nuts, walnuts, quinoa, and more—it was a nice touch. The chocolate fondue was also beautifully presented and great. And of course, the all-you-can-eat crab goes without saying—haha. In short: if you go to Kusatsu, this is the only choice—it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it’s that good of a Hotel. I’d love to come again!

It was an even more wonderful Hotel than I imagined, and choosing it was the right decision.
The suite was a lovely Room with a chandelier and indirect lighting. For the dinner buffet, the sushi, snow crab, Joshu beef steak, and tempura (shrimp and domestically grown garlic) were delicious. The breakfast buffet featured healthy smoothies and fruit, and the French toast was outstanding. It was wonderful that it could be served with fresh cream or custard cream instead of whipped cream. There were also many Hotel-made items such as jams, and I appreciated that the origins of the ingredients were clearly indicated. The Onsen had lukewarm baths, hotter baths, an open-air bath, and a sauna. At night, there were activities like roasting marshmallows over a bonfire, and you could also have fun with wooden gym equipment. I visited on a weekday, but it felt popular with a wide range of guests—from older visitors to young couples and families with children.

The room and the meals were excellent.
I made a Reservation under the Anniversary Plan for a Room with an open-air bath and sauna. The Room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. I thought it would be even better if the sauna offered loyly, but I truly enjoyed it together with the open-air bath and used them many times. For meals, we dined at Jurin Garden for both breakfast and dinner. The crab and every other dish were delicious, and the sushi in particular had excellent toppings! We were also happy to find Oropo and sparkling wine prepared in the Room. We appreciated the thorough explanation at check-in, and at check-out we were kindly asked whether we had been able to adjust the Room temperature and Onsen temperature as needed, which made our stay very pleasant. On our way home, we talked about how we would love to come back someday as a treat even when it’s not a special occasion like a birthday. We’ll definitely visit again someday!

I was very satisfied overall, except for the pool Facility.
The free-flowing natural Onsen, Room, meals, and staff were all high quality, and we were satisfied that it was worth the price. One area for improvement: the pool room temperature was low, and both the jacuzzi and pool water were cold, so we couldn’t enjoy it for even 30 minutes. Also, small concrete-like fragments were scattered on the bottom of the pool and stuck into our feet; it was painful and felt like a child could get hurt.
