    Affordable Accommodation Where You Can Enjoy Anago Hitsumabushi

    I stayed on a Saturday night over the weekend, and perhaps because it operates as a Business Hotel, the pricing felt very affordable. I stayed in a twin Room; it was reasonably spacious and very well cleaned. However, there was no safe in the Room, which was slightly inconvenient. There is no shared bath inside the Hotel, but we were informed that it partners with a nearby Onsen Facility. I used the in-room unit bath, though the drainage felt a bit slow. The anago hitsumabushi for dinner was excellent and truly enjoyable. With its reasonable Accommodation Fee, this Hotel is recommended for sightseeing in Onomichi and enjoying Hiroshima’s famous conger eel.

    I’m so glad I stayed here! It made me love Onomichi even more!

    I stay at various hotels across the whole country 2-3 times a month for work, but I have never encountered such a pleasant receptionist before! She is exceptional! She remembered our names and greeted us with a heartfelt smile, which deeply moved me. She responded sincerely to all our questions and had the most wonderful smile! It made me want to stay again, and it made me love Onomichi even more! My spouse and I often recall this experience and talk about it fondly. Her personality is truly remarkable. I believe it's because she genuinely cares about her guests, which was very inspiring for me as well. I definitely want to stay here again! Please keep up your wonderful smile—it brings happiness to so many people. It reminds me that Japan still has so much warmth left in it. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!

    Meals are average.

    Thank you for guiding us to a spacious room on the day of our stay. Thanks to that, we were able to spend our time comfortably, but there were a few points that caught our attention overall. The main issue was with the restaurant. During dinner, perhaps because it was too empty, the staff didn’t notice us entering at all. Despite having a Reservation, they didn’t ask for our name and guided us as if we hadn’t reserved. When we mentioned that we had made a Reservation, they said they had prepared this table for us, which felt contradictory. While the food itself was delicious, considering the price, I thought it might be more cost-effective to dine in the city instead. A Service Fee was charged; however, there wasn’t even tea service during the meal—making me wonder what exactly constituted "service" here. As for breakfast, there weren’t any distinctive dishes and seemed to lack variety overall. The Room was spacious but lacked an appealing view. Although it was described as being on the ocean side, the window had wired glass and only allowed partial views of the sea from beyond the balcony. Additionally, with items like TVs blocking near-window areas inside the Room itself—it felt unrealistic to describe this as enjoying views of Onomichi Channel fully.

    Reservation

    All requests require a Reservation. Shuttle Service also has fixed times, so when I informed the front desk that I wanted to take it at a specific time, they told me to call the reservation department. Seriously? The car that came to pick us up was only for the two of us. If it were fully booked, prior reservations might make sense, but what is this!

    Not satisfactory.

    Breakfast included a half-buffet option without a set meal, but there was very little to eat. The bath was only the unit bath in the room, and paying 800 yen for the nearby Onsen facility felt expensive. The service was excellent.

    Are there any rooms that have not been renovated?

    The photos of the room listed on IKYU were renovated and very beautiful, so I made the reservation with that image in mind. However, when I chose a Japanese-style room, it turned out to be an old and rustic room that was likely not renovated. While the front desk, restaurant, and some floors seemed to have been renovated and looked shiny, other floors felt like an old business hotel. I did not think it was up to the level expected for something listed on IKYU. Moreover, when I checked in during a scorching hot evening, the air conditioning in the room was off, making it feel like a sauna. Although I turned on the air conditioner immediately after entering the room, its performance was poor and it took quite some time (about an hour?) before it cooled down enough to be bearable. It would have been much better if they had pre-cooled the room by turning on the air conditioning beforehand. The shuttle service was convenient as it provided transportation not only to/from the station but also to nearby Heigen Onsen. Since my room had an old unit bath setup, being able to visit an onsen via shuttle bus was a great option. Having a convenience store next door was also very handy.

    The meals were very delicious.

    Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and I was very satisfied with the affordable accommodation. It would have been even better if there was a large public bath, but the room was clean and comfortable, so I would like to stay here again when I visit Onomichi.

    I would like to stay here again.

    The room is not very large, but it is very clean, and the shuttle bus between the hotel and the station was extremely convenient. It significantly reduced walking time under the scorching summer sun, which was a great help. Reservations can be made online, and the bus runs multiple times back and forth, which was truly appreciated. The driver was also a very kind person.

    The facility has been renovated, providing a comfortable stay. The showerhead and hairdryer were modern and appealing, especially for women. The highlight was the lounge on the 8th floor, where seats with a view of the strait offered delicious fresh herb cocktails and enjoyable conversations with the bartender. The finishing touch of Onomichi ramen was also delightful. Breakfast on the first floor was average.

    Pre-Stay for Shimanami Kaido Cycling

    Checked in in the evening and went cycling the next morning. The Deluxe Twin Room was spacious and clean. Although the window was small, it was a sea-facing room. A shuttle operates from the station, making it convenient for dining out.

    Although it is a bit far from Onomichi Station, the well-organized shuttle service made it feel like there was less walking involved. The hospitality was excellent, and the lobby, though small, seemed beautifully renovated. The view from the room on the ocean side was obstructed by nearby apartment buildings. Everything, including the bathroom area, was thoroughly cleaned, making for a comfortable stay that exceeded its price value. While the room's bath is a unit bath, there is shuttle service to a nearby Onsen facility which I would love to try next time!

    The shuttle service to Onomichi Station and the Onsen facility was very helpful. The front desk staff were polite and provided excellent service. I would love to stay here again when I visit Onomichi.

    Cleanliness

    The remote control for the TV and other items had covers, and overall, the cleanliness was excellent. However, there was a power outage during the night in the Universal Room, which caused lights to turn on automatically and the door lock to unlock by itself. Since it was late at night and I couldn't figure out the cause, I hesitated to wake up my roommate or contact the front desk as having someone come to the room would have been inconvenient. I couldn't sleep because I was worried it might happen again. On a positive note, being a Universal Room, the bathroom washing area was spacious and convenient.

    It felt like a Ryokan with futons in a Japanese-style room.

    First time in Onomichi. Finding accommodation for a family of three can be challenging as most rooms are twin rooms. In the case of a ryokan, they can lay out three futons in a Japanese-style room, but it seems difficult to find such options at hotels. This hotel offers Japanese-style rooms with relaxing spaces and is reasonably priced. There are also two delicious okonomiyaki restaurants nearby, making our stay enjoyable. Thank you very much!

    Onomichi

    The building is old, but it was clean and I had a pleasant stay. I also visited the nearby Onsen and slept soundly at night. The breakfast was delicious, and I ended up eating too much. I wanted to go again, so I made a reservation as soon as I got back.

    It was an enjoyable trip.

    The Hotel was undergoing renovation work on the first floor, so I was a little surprised. The Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It would have been even better if there was a large public bath, though. The front desk staff were kind and friendly. The drinks at the BAR were also delicious. We had various conversations, making it an enjoyable time. It's a bit of a walk to the station, but there's a shuttle bus available, making it a recommended Hotel.

    Despite checking in ...

    Despite checking in late at night, we were treated with courtesy. The entrance was under construction, so we couldn't see the whole picture, but the lobby was neat and calm, which was nice. The room was also very clean, and it was clear that it was well-maintained. We had a very comfortable stay. The water service was also appreciated, as we didn't expect it. In the morning, the shuttle service to the station was helpful. Everyone was very polite, and it was truly a good hotel. It's a hotel we would like to use again.

    The response is appropriate.

    The facility was new, and the room was spacious and clean, which was very good. The bathroom only had a unit bath in each room, so I cannot evaluate it. What was impressive about the hotel's response was that the Japanese-style room I had reserved in advance was overbooked or something, and I was asked to change to a Western-style room at the last minute. After I agreed, the manager came to the room after check-in and offered a polite apology and even a box of sweets. I felt that their customer-oriented service was thorough.

    I will never go again.

    It was a Plan with breakfast included, but when I checked with the staff, they said it was okay as long as we arrived by 9:30. So when we went to the breakfast venue at 9:00, we were told something like "please hurry as it ends at 9:30." Even when we arrived at 9:00, there was almost nothing left to eat, and they didn't replenish the food, leaving it empty. The Room's bath was small, and the water in the sink accumulated and drained slowly. It was really a stressful Hotel where you had to pick up combs and towels on the first floor and bring them to your own Room.

    You get what you pay for.

    Even though it wasn't a particularly busy time, when I asked about places to eat, they just handed me a gourmet map. I wish they would at least pretend to look it up. Since the location is disadvantageous, having smoking rooms could be a selling point, don't you think?
