    I’d rather keep it a secret, but…

    I almost don’t want to share this, but I can see how hard everyone at the Hotel is working… Relax on the lovely terrace (it’s cool, and the breeze feels wonderful. Free drinks are a nice bonus, too). Unwind in the Onsen (the open-air bath is inside the building, so it stays pleasantly cool in the shade. The large windows open fully for an airy feel, and you can relax while looking out at the forest). The walkway to the dining area feels like stepping into another world—very inspiring—and of course, the food is delicious. On our way home, we had soft-serve ice cream at Takasu Farmers in Hirugano Kogen. It was great value and incredibly tasty. We also bought some lily flowers to take home. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

    Delicious meals, soothing hot springs, and friendly staff smiles

    We stayed here while sightseeing in Shirakawa-go and Takayama. Although the area is surrounded by mountains, the food was stylish and delicious, the Onsen water was excellent, and the staff’s smiles were wonderful. It happened to be a quiet day, so they upgraded our Room, and we were able to relax and enjoy a spacious stay.

    This Accommodation offers 100% free-flowing natural hot spring water.

    I heard the Hotel has a 100% free-flowing Onsen straight from the source, so I decided to visit. It’s located in an area lined with vacation cottages as a summer retreat, and on the day I arrived it felt almost chilly. It seems like a pleasant place to relax during the hot summer. The Room was compact, but since it was on a higher floor, the view was great and I could unwind while enjoying the scenery from the window. The bath I had been looking forward to included an indoor bath and a semi-open-air style bath with large windows that could be opened wide. It isn’t an outdoor open-air bath, but it was very comfortable to soak while feeling the fresh air. The Onsen is alkaline, and perhaps because it is free-flowing from the source, there was none of the disinfectant smell that sometimes bothers me at baths in Onsen towns, so I could bathe comfortably. When we arrived, we were the only guests and it was very quiet, but later a large group of overseas guests arrived and the atmosphere became a bit livelier. The meal started with mousse and sashimi, followed by more Japanese-Western fusion dishes, which we enjoyed throughout. There was a notice at reception about stink bugs, so I was honestly a little worried, but we didn’t encounter any insects during our stay and felt relieved. The windows had been carefully sealed with tape as a precaution, so depending on the season it may take some effort. It was an Accommodation where we could step away from everyday life and relax at our own pace while enjoying cool air and a free-flowing Onsen straight from the source.

    Onsen, good customer service.

    I visited with high expectations based on the strong Reviews, but honestly it ended up being a very disappointing stay. First, the Onsen itself was excellent, and the staff were courteous and left a great impression. That part was truly wonderful. However, almost everything else was extremely disappointing. Despite the location having no convenience store nearby, all alcohol vending machines were sold out when we arrived. There was also no room service, and there were virtually no food or drink options available inside the Accommodation. (They did restock quickly, though.) As for the Room, what seemed to be pest control measures had resulted in heavy duct tape covering the window frames, which felt quite strange. The automatic lock at the entrance also would not close unless you pushed it firmly into place, which made me uneasy. While the Onsen itself is very good, there were vague “no entry” barriers and areas that looked like temporary fixes left as-is, giving an overall impression that management and upkeep are lacking. At dinner as well, draft beer took a long time to arrive—and when it finally did, it seemed like foam had been topped up. It’s been a long time since I’ve had beer this unappetizing. Because the staff provided such good service, it feels especially wasteful that issues with Facilities and operations are being left unaddressed. If management reviewed what needs improvement and made changes accordingly, I believe this could become a much better Accommodation.

    This accommodation is difficult to evaluate.

    I’ve stayed at a wide range of Accommodations, from luxury to budget, but this one is very hard to rate. The photos are taken so well that it looks like a high-end Hotel, but in reality it’s a renovation of an older Hotel, which was often disappointing. There is only one elevator, and it’s small, so getting around takes time. The Room bathroom is a small unit bath. The TV is small for the size of the Room, and the remote control doesn’t even have a battery cover. The sofa looks stylish but isn’t comfortable to relax on. The amenities are at a budget-Accommodation level, and there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about the in-Room items. There are no baskets for use inside the building, which makes going back and forth to the bath inconvenient. The dining area has no partitions between seats and feels like a large banquet hall. Meals were served from plastic transport containers placed prominently in the corner of the dining area (normally these would be kept out of sight). The staff worked while wearing earphones that varied in color and shape, which felt somewhat odd. The food was tasty, but the seasoning and presentation weren’t especially memorable. The good points were that the Room was spacious, and there were several staff members who were pleasant and helpful. If you think of it as a reasonably priced Accommodation, you’ll be satisfied; if you expect a luxury Accommodation, you’ll be disappointed. I was in the latter group.

    The 100% natural Ons...

    The 100% natural Onsen water is not too hot, yet it warms your body thoroughly and keeps you feeling cozy for a long time. It also helps relieve joint pain effectively. The snowy landscape view from the open-air bath is breathtaking. It’s an Onsen you can enjoy endlessly. The meals were delightful, featuring creative dishes like tomato mousse as an appetizer and steamed abalone with two-color sauce, along with local traditional cuisine. We were very satisfied. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The staff provided excellent service, making our stay pleasant and enjoyable. We would love to visit again!

    Onsen and Skiing

    We enjoyed our stay at this resort facility for winter Onsen, skiing, and snowboarding. The Onsen was very relaxing, with few people around, allowing us to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. The meals were excellent, especially the Hida beef shabu-shabu which was absolutely delicious. Our child loved the croissants at breakfast and was very happy with them. At the restaurant, most of the staff were from overseas, but they were all very polite and professional, making it easy for us to enjoy our meals comfortably. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    We visited on New Year's Eve as a group of 10, including a 5-month-old baby on their first trip, a 1-year-old toddler requiring constant attention, and a senior in their 90s who needed a cane. Despite causing some inconvenience with lost and forgotten items, every staff member was always warm and attentive, for which we are truly grateful. The quality of the natural flowing Onsen water was exceptional, the renovated room was clean and satisfying, and the meals were delightful. Outside the dining area's window stretched an enchanting view of snow-covered coniferous trees illuminated by lights—like something out of a painting. We will visit again!

    One-night stay for a New Year's ski trip

    Stayed for one night during New Year's. Despite the snowfall, the roads were well cleared, and we arrived without any issues using only winter tires. Upon arrival, a staff member came out to assist with transporting our luggage on a cart, which was very helpful as we had luggage for four people including ski gear. They also helped load our luggage when we departed. The accommodation provided a drying room for ski equipment where helmets and boots dried thoroughly, allowing us to enjoy skiing comfortably the next day. I learned about the concept of 100% natural Onsen water directly flowing from the source for the first time here—it seems rare even across Onsen in the whole country—and I truly enjoyed this fresh experience. The water temperature was just right—not too hot or cold. The open-air bath felt semi-outdoor with large windows that opened up to snowy views outside; however, it wasn’t fully outdoors which was slightly disappointing. Meals were delicious and perfectly catered to our preferences after prior communication from the staff—this made dining enjoyable! As someone visiting from outside of this area, while everything tasted great (including sashimi, abalone, Niigata rice, and French butter), I felt that showcasing more local ingredients or dishes unique to Gujo Takayama would have been even better. Overall, it was an extremely comfortable stay—thank you very much!

    I had a wonderful New Year's celebration.

    We had the best New Year's experience. As soon as we parked, the staff kindly came to help with our luggage. They were truly friendly and attentive. The meals were absolutely delicious, and the natural Onsen was exceptional—the best we've ever experienced among all the Onsen we've visited so far. Our children have already decided that we will stay here again next year! It was truly amazing. Thank you very much!

    Exceptional hospitality

    We stayed for a girls' trip with six people, including my best friend, parents, and daughter. Upon arrival at the Hotel, we were warmly welcomed by a bell girl with a bright and friendly smile. The Room accommodated all six of us comfortably. Dinner was an excellent fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine. The abalone steamed for three hours, freshly made 100% buckwheat soba in the morning, and the flavorful Hida beef shabu-shabu were all unforgettable highlights. The staff greeted us warmly with wonderful smiles whenever we met them in the hallways, creating a very homey atmosphere. Above all else, the 100% natural hot spring bath was exceptional! The open-air bath offered beautiful views that made it hard to leave after soaking for so long. My mother and others were delighted and expressed their desire to visit again. I would love to return during summer next time and highly recommend this place to my friends as well! Thank you very much!

    The quality of the hot spring water is exceptional.

    The 100% natural flowing Onsen water was exceptional. I've experienced many Onsens before, but this one seemed to have the greatest effect on my skin. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.

    The staff provided exceptional service with heartfelt care, and the cuisine was outstanding. I thought I had experienced genuine 100% natural Onsen before, but I was mistaken. After visiting here, I truly rediscovered what a real 100% natural flowing Onsen is. The overflowing water is never recycled, and no chlorine or disinfectants are used—this is the real deal. The alkaline Onsen is also great for your skin. Definitely worth a repeat visit!

    Upon arrival, we wer...

    Upon arrival, we were told that our luggage would be carried from the car, but since there was no prompt assistance, we ended up carrying it ourselves. After checking in and entering the Room, the heating was off, and it was very cold. The changing area in the bathroom only had shelves with no locks or baskets, leaving all belongings completely exposed and lacking privacy considerations. The actual bath was much smaller than expected; especially the open-air bath felt cramped even with just five people inside. The meals were elaborate and very delicious; however, there were inconsistencies in explanations provided by different staff members. Some staff members were non-native speakers of Japanese, making communication difficult at times. Additionally, due to restaurant air conditioning issues, our feet felt extremely cold during meals. There was a coffee machine in the restaurant without any instructions on how to use it. When we asked a staff member for help, they commented that "it’s hard to understand," which made us wonder why instructions weren’t provided if they knew this issue existed. Overall, many interactions left us feeling that the staff lacked kindness or attentiveness. After forgetting an item at checkout and requesting it be sent home to us, they forgot to ship it until we followed up multiple times. For this price? It feels unjustified for what is offered here. We will never return again and are puzzled as to why this place has such high ratings overall.

    A disappointing accommodation full of issues after a long time.

    Stayed here once in 2015, and while the accommodation was run-down at the time, I still remember how delicious the Hida beef steak dinner was. With high reviews on various sites after its renovation, I had some expectations. However, to put it simply, it turned out to be a disappointing stay filled with issues from a lack of customer focus to noticeable cost-cutting measures. First of all, while it's understandable that the dining area is far away, it was cold. Even though lap blankets were provided during dinner, I had to request them again during breakfast. The spacious dining area only had a few tables set by the windows with an empty central space. At least placing tables in the center for self-serve tea or water or adding flowers could have helped reduce the desolate atmosphere. That said, the meals themselves were delicious. Regarding the onsen: The pH level seemed around 9 (measured using my analog test paper), consistent with their claim of 100% natural hot spring water flow. The individual bathtubs in the open-air bath were also enjoyable. However, in addition to a cold dressing room in the morning onsen session, there was an appearance of stink bugs. While there’s an insect kit available in guest rooms for such situations, none were provided in the dressing room. If they recommend applying moisturizer after bathing via signage, they should at least provide body lotion. As for our room: We booked what was listed as a 25-square-meter twin room but ended up with what seemed like over 40 square meters—though it matched photos from our reservation and didn’t appear to be an error. Unfortunately, since curtains weren’t blackout ones and faced eastward sunlight poured into our room early morning. Additionally—and this might have been my oversight—the beds were single-sized beds which felt unacceptable given this price point. The coffee server at reception lacked not only instructions but also explanations about differences between four types of coffee packs available nearby; figuring things out took so much time! Despite being visible from reception desk staff offered no assistance whatsoever throughout confusion process... Honestly listing everything wrong would take forever!

    Dinner featured a high-quality fusion of Japanese, Western, and Chinese elements with excellent service. (On the other hand, breakfast was fairly average.) The Onsen had soft water at an ideal temperature and was very pleasant. The Facility could use a bit more atmosphere, especially in the dining area. It was peaceful as there were no inbound tourists during our stay. This was a nice contrast to the bustling streets of Takayama city filled with inbound visitors.

    A Resort Hotel in the mountains The front desk is very clean, and the staff's service is extremely polite. The welcome drink, coffee, was very delicious. The room was spacious with plenty of space to relax. However, perhaps due to ongoing renovations, there were slight creaks in the floor and a bit of discomfort with the unit bath. There are no shops around the hotel and no convenience store on-site, but there were vending machines (drinks only) available. The meals were excellent, and both the Onsen and views were perfect. I would definitely like to stay here again!

    I stayed for one night. Everything in the Facility is outdated and left as it is. The photos made it look nice, which was misleading and gave me the wrong impression. Honestly, I felt deceived. I think such misrepresentation should be avoided...

    Stayed during the Obon holiday.

    We stayed with my parents during the Obon holiday. Due to heavy rain and unclear road conditions, we arrived earlier than the check-in time, but we were kindly allowed to wait in the lobby while enjoying a welcome drink. The Room was spacious and provided a relaxing stay. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff serving us were very polite and attentive. The weather was beautiful the next morning, and the greenery around the Hotel was stunning. We would love to visit again in a different season for another relaxing stay.

    The Onsen is authentic. It feels amazing, with beautiful views that make you want to soak for a long time. The water is smooth, and your skin feels silky the moment you step in. There was a minor issue with the meals, but the Hotel staff handled it sincerely, allowing us to check out feeling satisfied in the end. We created wonderful family memories and are very grateful.     Great hot springs and excellent staff.

    I stayed here a few years ago and visited again because the onsen was amazing. The lobby and room seemed to have been renovated, as they were even more beautiful than before (though they were already clean and nice). The staff left a great impression during my previous visit, and this time as well, including the foreign staff members, everyone was kind, smiling, and attentive. Their training is truly excellent. The bath was, of course, fantastic. What I found slightly disappointing was the food. Previously, I enjoyed delicious local dishes like "Suttate Soup," but this time there were fewer local specialties on offer, which was disappointing. Being in the mountains, I don’t particularly want to eat sashimi or abalone (though it might be considered a delicacy for locals). It would be much better if the menu focused more on locally sourced ingredients and farm-to-table options. Additionally, while the atmosphere leading to the dining area is nice (likely due to renovations), the interior of the dining room feels outdated—like something from Japan's Showa era—and comes across as cold and somewhat uninviting... Perhaps consider renovating this space as well? As for breakfast: croissants are served but seem to be just baked frozen ones from commercial suppliers; this felt odd too. A traditional Japanese set meal alone would suffice unless you’re offering an option between Japanese or Western-style breakfasts.

    Wonderful hospitality

    I stayed with my parents. Since my mother cannot eat any meat, we chose a plan without dinner. Initially, we planned to go out for dinner after arriving at the hotel, but after enjoying the welcome drink and relaxing, we didn’t feel like going out. When we suddenly requested to add dinner, the staff quickly checked and confirmed it was possible. They kindly prepared rice, miso soup, and pickles for my mother. The kaiseki cuisine was all very delicious. I highly recommend choosing a plan with dinner! Breakfast featured local ingredients and had just the right amount of food. The onsen was very pleasant as well. The hospitality was extremely attentive—almost humbling in its care—and my parents were very pleased too. I would love to stay here again someday. Thank you so much!
