A historic building and exceptional hospitality.

Four of us women stayed in the Room called “Yomoyama.” As a corner Room, it had great views, and we loved the lush garden and the spacious Japanese-style Room set up as a summer tatami sitting area. Every attendant provided wonderful service, so we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Dinner was thoughtfully prepared, and we enjoyed every dish. From 8:00 p.m., we took a walk in the garden to watch fireflies; since the weather was good, we saw many of them. It was a great trip where we could feel the charm of Japan in this historic and wonderful building.

    It was very relaxing.

During the Golden Week holidays, I was looking for a day-trip Onsen where I could enjoy delicious food and relax, and this was the place I finally found. The staff were wonderful, and the food was very tasty. I enjoyed my meal at a leisurely pace in my Room. It was a truly great holiday. Since it was Golden Week, the changing area was crowded and both getting changed and using the baths were packed, but everything else was perfect. I’d like to visit again on a weekday. Thank you for such a relaxing holiday.

    Nothing was lacking.

There is nothing to complain about regarding the meals, but it was a bit hard to finish everything. We stayed at Seiryutei, and the Room had a charming, historic atmosphere while still being well equipped. The spacious, open-air bath had just the right water temperature, and we were able to relax and soak at ease. This was the most satisfying Accommodation we have ever stayed at, and it is at the top of our list of places we would like to visit again.

    Foreign guests

A group of foreign guests stayed at the accommodation. I realized the high number of inbound tourists. The Accommodation Fee felt a bit expensive.

    The open-air bath is exceptional.

We stayed in a detached room with an open-air bath, and the onsen experience was the best we've ever had. However, one regretful point is that we usually place photos of our late parents on the table at accommodations we visit. At other accommodations, many places at least offer a drink for them. At accommodations in Gero Onsen and Kinosaki Onsen, we have even experienced them preparing a symbolic meal (kagezen). While this is not meant as a request, it left us feeling a bit lonely.

    I stayed in a specia...

I stayed in a special room. Overall, I felt that 160,000 yen was expensive. The private open-air bath in the guest room was spacious and nice, but it was inconvenient as there was no mirror in the shower area. Most of the meals were delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable; however, the TV was outdated and did not support Netflix or similar services. Above all, there were many insects. I had to borrow insect repellent during my stay. To my surprise, a frog appeared in the room at the end of my stay! It caused panic as it hopped around on the table, landing on drinks and plates, making them unusable for consumption. Although I reported this to a staff member, there was no response or apology from the manager or person in charge regarding this issue. I wish they had handled it more appropriately.

    The staff were part-...

The staff were part-time and not properly trained. The price suggested a high-end Ryokan, but it was completely disappointing.

A bit disappointing in terms of value for money.

Stayed at the detached "Seiryutei" with the highest-ranked meal plan. The spaciousness of the private open-air bath, the accommodation's overall space, and the historical Japanese farmhouse ambiance were excellent. However, the service felt overly rigid, adhering too strictly to a traditional Ryokan style, which made it feel less hospitable. Being near Mount Koya, it seemed more focused on catering to international tourists. There were many insects on ceilings and floors. While some are expected due to the natural surroundings, measures like fumigation should be taken in advance. The ingredients used in meals were luxurious but lacked a local touch; they seemed sourced from various places without any explanation about their origins. The private open-air bath was impressive in size but did not fully convey a sense of being 100% natural hot spring water as described. The water quality was unremarkable with little scent or character typical of hot springs, and consistent temperature flow within the tub suggested it might not be entirely free-flowing spring water as claimed.
