    It was a wonderful accommodation that made me want to visit again.

    I fell in love with the open-air bath and hanging chair in the Room. I had planned to explore the property, but the Room was so comfortable that I barely left, so I’ll save exploring for next time! The meals were delicious—I finished everything at both breakfast and dinner. All of the staff were friendly and cheerful, and it was a pleasure chatting with them. …Honestly, every single one of them won me over. I’ll definitely stay again. Thank you very much.

    We had a wonderful stay! Every dish at both dinner and breakfast was delicious. We also really enjoyed the large public bath and the open-air bath—the water was excellent and left our skin feeling silky smooth. Above all, the staff were kind and truly wonderful. One member of our group uses a wheelchair, but we were able to spend our 2-day, 1-night stay without any stress. Thank you very much—we would love to stay again!

    Thank you very much for all your help. Our daughter-in-law was truly impressed and said the Baby Plan for two families with children was wonderful. We also greatly appreciated your careful handling of allergies, which allowed us to dine with peace of mind. Thank you. Your staff’s service was excellent, and we could really feel your kindness—it made for a very pleasant dinner. My son was sleep-deprived and began to feel unwell partway through, so he had to leave the table. Afterwards, the front desk kindly called to check on him. We are truly grateful. It became a wonderful family trip, and we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Please also convey our thanks to the dining staff!!

    I’ve stayed at sever...

    I’ve stayed at several Ogoto Onsen Ryokan, but the only one I return to is Ryokusuitei. The exterior has been beautifully renovated, and the meals were delicious. The grilled dish at breakfast was especially outstanding! This was my fifth stay.

    Is it Kyoto cuisine?

    Omi beef is highly rated, but sashimi and appetizers receive lower ratings. On fireworks nights, a 6th-floor Room is an absolute requirement.

    Thank you for hosting us on August 1.

    Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. We were glad we could see the fireworks so beautifully. However, because the open-air bath was mixed-gender with no partitions, it was difficult to use. We originally planned to come as a group of five, but it ended up being two of us, and in hindsight that felt better. The service, including your phone support, was excellent. Thank you again.

    I’ve always stayed here with colleagues for work, but this time I stayed with my family. As always, the high-quality Onsen was wonderful. Dinner was also very delicious, and we were extremely satisfied. I love the breakfast too and always look forward to it.     Highly satisfying.

    I’ve visited Ogoto Onsen several times, but this was my first stay at Ryokusuitei. Our Room had a small open-air bath, but it was larger than I expected and more than enough for one person. The in-room drinks were only tea, but during happy hour on the lobby terrace they offered a variety of drinks and light snacks, and I was able to enjoy a wonderful time while taking in the view. The large public bath was clean but a bit small. In return, there was a barrel sauna with a pleasant woody aroma. The cold plunge wasn’t lukewarm either, which was great. Dinner was excellent, and at the breakfast buffet we could enjoy freshly grilled dried fish right at the table—I was very satisfied. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to come back.

    A top-rated Ryokan in every way—I’d love to stay here again.

    I interacted with many staff members, and every one of them greeted us with a wonderful smile and thoughtful service. Thanks to them, we were able to spend our time comfortably from start to finish. The Happy Hour and post-bath drinks, ice cream, and other items were constantly replenished. Even with many guests, we never had to wait for refills, so we could relax without any stress. The Room had been renovated and was kept extremely clean—not only the Room itself but also the open-air bath in the Room. We also really appreciated that towels were provided not only in the Room but also at the large public bath, which meant we could use fresh towels every time without having to dry them ourselves—perfect for us since we like bathing multiple times. Dinner was served in a private dining room, and the staff member in charge carefully explained each dish as it was served. The portions were generous and we were very satisfied. We arrived 30 minutes late due to our own mistake, but they accommodated us immediately without showing any displeasure. Breakfast was buffet-style as well, but it was in semi-private seating so we could enjoy it at ease without worrying about others around us. We especially loved being able to grill dried fish and seafood at our table. This Ryokan is the first Accommodation I have ever checked out of with absolutely nothing that bothered me. It is the highest-rated among all the Ryokan and Hotels I have stayed at so far! Thank you very much. This is a Ryokan I would love to stay at again if I have another opportunity.

    Recently renovated and comfortable

    Both the exterior and interior seem to have been renovated, and everything felt modern and very nice. The in-room amenities, complimentary drinks in the refrigerator, welcome sweets, and aroma diffuser were all excellent selections, and we were completely satisfied. We also got to enjoy a new experience like balcony camping—thank you very much.

    Perfect for a girls’ trip.

    A girls’ trip with two middle-aged women, staying in Ogoto Onsen. The open-air bath in the Room was small, but the water was mild and pleasantly silky. The Japanese-style Room was clean, though there were a few aspects that weren’t very convenient. The cuisine was carefully prepared and delicious. We were especially satisfied with the Omi beef shabu-shabu. For breakfast, it was our first time having a buffet plus a style where you grill fish yourself; we liked it, and there was a wide variety of options. This was our third time in Ogoto Onsen, and this became our favorite Accommodation so far. The staff were young and had wonderful smiles. Thank you very much. We will visit again.

    The Room and meals were outstanding—we were truly impressed.

    This was my first stay at Ryokusuitei, and in a word, it was wonderful. From the moment we checked in, the staff’s gentle explanations created a relaxing atmosphere. I was especially impressed by the open-air Onsen bath in the Room—it was quite spacious, and even with my girlfriend it was more than big enough to enjoy comfortably. It was the perfect Room. Dinner was also delicious. We had eaten too much at the Otsu Prince buffet for lunch, so we couldn’t finish everything, which was a shame—but the sashimi in particular was outstanding. For breakfast, we grilled dried fish and scallops right in front of us and ended up completely full. After checking out, we were able to visit Kaizu Osaki, Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei, and Mii-dera without needing lunch. It became an unforgettable Lake Biwa trip with my girlfriend. Thank you very much.

    The hot spring bath was excellent.

    The Room was smaller than expected, and the in-room bath was small. Other than that, the meals were delicious, and there were drinks available after bathing, so we were very satisfied.

    The food was good.

    As a Kyoto local, I appreciated the seasoning and the quality of the ingredients used. As for the Room, I chose the cheapest option with an open-air bath, and it was a big mistake. The open-air bath was small, and one corner was part of the drainage area, so I couldn’t sit facing forward comfortably. If you’re booking a Room with an open-air bath, it’s better to choose a slightly more expensive one. Also, I wouldn’t recommend having high expectations for the outdoor large public bath (lol). I visited with high expectations as this is a long-established Ryokan in Ogoto Onsen, but I hope it improves in the future.

    Lack of hospitality

    I have visited several times over the past decade or so, but it is disappointing to see the hospitality decline year by year. The orchids at the entrance were withered, with all the flowers drooping, and in the Room’s alcove there were neither flowers nor a hanging scroll. It truly felt that you were not properly prepared to welcome guests. This Accommodation has become a typical example of forgetting Japan’s spirit of hospitality amid inbound tourism. We stayed to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday, but it was an embarrassing experience.

    Family Trip

    This was our fourth stay at this Accommodation, and once again we were able to relax and feel refreshed. We stayed in the same Premier Suite Room as last time, and the view of Lake Biwa from the Room was wonderful. However, I was disappointed with the meal content. Looking back at photos from our previous stay, last time each person had one whole spiny lobster sashimi, but this time—on the same Plan—we had only one spiny lobster to share among three people, even though it seemed about the same size as before. The pieces of spiny lobster were also cut small, so it was hard to fully taste its flavor. It would have been better if there had been some explanation when it was served, but there wasn’t, so I gave 3 stars. Other than the spiny lobster portion, everything was good—including the service from the staff in charge of our stay—so if we have another opportunity, we would like to stay again.

    I visit every year, and the bath, Room, and meals are always wonderful! However... this year, after the bath was prepared in the Room... the table and chairs were left scattered around. This was my first time experiencing this, and I was a bit shocked. Other than that, it was comfortable and I had a relaxing stay.

    I had a relaxing time.

    I stayed at the end of the year and was satisfied with the reasonable price. While some parts of the Ryokan showed its age, the Room was clean and comfortable. The meals were enjoyable with luxurious ingredients.

    The cuisine is exceptional!

    Efforts to enhance guest satisfaction were remarkable. The sashimi shabu-shabu and carefully selected ingredients were excellent, but I was especially impressed with the presentation and serving style. The lily root rice, other dishes, and breakfast were also delightful. The Room's bath had silky smooth water that clung to the body, offering a relaxing experience while enjoying the view of Lake Biwa. I would love to visit again.

    It was our first time staying as a family of four. We were very satisfied with the 24-hour flowing private Room bath and the large public bath. The meals were luxurious at night, and we enjoyed the grilled fish buffet in the morning—it was truly exceptional. The happy hour was also a delight for our family!

    Shiga Travel

    We were very satisfied with the elaborate dishes and Omi beef shabu-shabu. The large Onsen and the Onsen in our room were both relaxing, and everything exceeded our expectations. The staff made it a truly memorable trip. During dinner, as we shared stories about being childhood friends from elementary and middle school celebrating our 70th birthdays, a thoughtful staff member with a lovely smile surprised us by placing candles on each of our cakes during dessert and taking commemorative photos for us. Additionally, they gifted us matching Shigaraki ware teacups. It was such an unexpected gesture that we were all deeply moved. Thank you so much!

    I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. It was wonderful to relax while enjoying the view of Lake Biwa. The service was excellent and attentive, so I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    I stayed at Fuga for my first trip with my boyfriend, and the staff provided very clear and polite explanations, which made everything easy to understand. The Room was clean and very nice! We talked about wanting to come back again on our way home!

    A Ryokan you'll want to stay at again and again.

    The cuisine is incredibly delicious. The traditional Japanese dishes, crafted with the essence of the 24 seasonal divisions and perfected over many years by the late head chef, continue to be faithfully passed down, leaving a deep impression on my heart. When I stayed here in early spring this year and expressed my gratitude by saying, "Thank you for always providing such wonderful meals," the head chef humbly responded with a radiant smile—a memory that remains vivid to this day. Meals with a story are truly delightful. This is a wonderful ryokan where you can always feel warm and gentle emotions.
