    It was a wonderful stay, exactly as we had hoped. The Room was very clean, every dish at both dinner and breakfast was delicious, and the private Onsen was fantastic—we were completely satisfied. Some oil from the stone-grilled Tochigi Wagyu accidentally splashed onto my skirt, but when I asked for advice, they kindly prepared a tray with mild detergent and towels and explained how to care for it properly. It was a huge help—thank you. If I had one small request, it would be nice to have simple snacks such as nuts when enjoying drinks in the lounge (a Ryokan we stayed at in Nagano recently offered this, so that may be why I noticed), but we truly appreciate being able to enjoy complimentary drinks. A highly recommended Ryokan.

    It was excellent.

    This time, we stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. We were also satisfied with the hospitality. The greetings felt nostalgic. The Room was clean, and we were very satisfied. If there had been a screen door, we could have spent time listening to the murmuring of the river.

    We were truly impressed by this wonderful hospitality.

    I’ve stayed here several times because I find the thoughtful hospitality of this kaiseki Ryokan so soothing. As soon as I arrive and step out of the car, it begins with a pleasant riverside breeze, the sound of the stream, and a welcome drink. In addition to the gentle Onsen and delicious seasonal cuisine, the rice cooked in a pot right in front of you is more than I can finish no matter how hard I try—but they kindly make it into onigiri for a late-night snack. I’m truly satisfied 120% every time. I would love to visit again.

    An Accommodation that lives up to its reputation

    This Accommodation has great Reviews, and I’d been very interested in it for a long time. This time, I was finally able to stay here. From the phone support in advance to the warm welcome on arrival, everything was extremely courteous. We were told there had been a same-day cancellation, and our Room was upgraded—thank you so much. The Room was spacious, well cleaned, and very clean and comfortable. The private open-air bath in the guest room felt wonderful, and I ended up using it many times. The meals were also excellent. Not only was the quality outstanding, but even my spouse and I—who usually eat a lot—were completely full and very satisfied. We were truly satisfied with everything, and this is a Ryokan we would definitely like to visit again.

    I was able to relax again this time.

    It was my first time staying in June, and the mornings and evenings were still cool, so I enjoyed the Onsen many times. They also accommodated my detailed requests, and I was able to relax. I was told it was a little early for firefly season, which was slightly disappointing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals and had a very satisfying trip.

    A cozy Accommodation.

    This was my second stay. Compared with my previous visit, the lobby felt more spacious and open. I stayed in the same Room as last time, and it also felt even more open than before, which left a great impression. The service was attentive down to the smallest details and flawless. The Onsen was wonderful, and the amenities were excellent—there was nothing to fault, except for one small point: some of the food tasted a little too strongly seasoned for my palate. Overall, I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

    A Relaxing Accommodation Where You Can Unwind

    On our previous stay, all Rooms with a private bath were fully booked, so we couldn’t get one. This time, we finally stayed in a Room with a bath. We were able to relax deeply in the semi-open-air bath while listening to the sound of the river. There are two large open-air baths that can be enjoyed as private family baths with a Reservation, and the large public bath is available even late at night. Even without an in-room bath, you can fully enjoy high-quality Onsen. The kaiseki meal was delicious from the appetizers through the fish and meat dishes—so generous that even we, a big-eating couple, couldn’t finish it all. The final pot-cooked rice was made into rice balls for a late-night snack and brought to our Room. Upon arrival, welcome drinks such as coffee, various juices, and beer were provided. At night, whisky and wine were set out in the lobby for guests to enjoy freely. As we love drinks, we really appreciated this (the in-Room refrigerator was also stocked with juices and beer for free use). When leaving the Accommodation, drinks such as coffee were prepared as well. We visited previously in summer and could hear bell crickets chirping from a cage beside the elevator—altogether, it’s an Accommodation where you can feel genuine hospitality whenever you visit. We spent an extremely comfortable and relaxing time here and were completely satisfied.

    I stayed here on thi...

    I stayed here on this occasion, and from start to finish the staff’s attentiveness and thoughtfulness were truly wonderful, making my time very comfortable. Every detail was well cared for, and it was a Ryokan that naturally made me think, “I want to come back.” The bath was also very relaxing, and I was able to unwind and feel refreshed. Each dish of the meal was delicious, and I was completely satisfied. It was a wonderful Ryokan that I sincerely want to stay at again. Thank you very much.

    Almost perfect, but... disappointing.

    This was my first stay here on a friend’s recommendation. Just as I had heard, it was one of the few Accommodations in the whole country that satisfied me in every way from arrival to departure. However, the only disappointment was how my allergy was handled. I had informed them of my garlic allergy, but my dinner Nasu beef steak arrived piled high with garlic chips. When I mentioned it again, they seemed aware of the allergy and promptly replaced it, but they had simply removed the garlic chips. This was a first for me, and I was truly disappointed.

    Izumo Room

    I stayed for one night. I enjoyed a hearty local chicken meal while battling the piping-hot Onsen, and left feeling completely full. It was the first time in a while that I was able to truly relax.

    Thoughtful attention to detail

    I was truly humbled by the courteous welcome while kneeling in seiza. The Onsen was wonderful—perhaps thanks to metasilicic acid, it left my skin feeling pleasantly moisturized. It was a shame that the Room only had a shower, but I still had a very comfortable stay!

    The private open-air bath and the lobby lounge are outstanding.

    The private open-air bath was spacious with a wonderful view, and the 50 minutes flew by. In the evening, we enjoyed a lovely time in the lobby lounge with a great atmosphere and all-you-can-drink alcohol. The staff were also excellent.

    The hostess’s service is not very good.

    I stayed in October last year, but the hospitality from the person who seemed to be the proprietress was quite disappointing. When I brought up something she didn’t agree with, it felt as though she tried to forcefully end the conversation. Given the price range, this is a high-end Ryokan, isn’t it? If I’m paying the same amount, I would be far more satisfied at other Accommodations. She also made sarcastic remarks—does she think guests won’t notice? If so, that seems rather naive. It’s unfortunate that one person’s service can ruin the entire impression. The other aspects of the Accommodation and the food were decent overall.

    Exceptional hospitality

    The hospitality was excellent, and I had a very relaxing stay. Even though the room did not have a private open-air bath, I loved the time-scheduled open-air bath. Both the large public bath and the open-air bath were flowing Onsen, and the temperature was perfect. The meals were very good in terms of content, but I felt that the portions were slightly too large as I couldn't finish them.

    A dream come true.

    I had previously canceled my reservation due to a scheduling conflict, but it stayed on my mind. This time, I had given up as my preferred dates were fully booked. However, I was thrilled to find availability when I happened to check the site and successfully made a reservation. The onsen, cuisine, and staff service were all exceptional. It had been a while since visiting Shiobara Onsen, but the wonderful experience has made me want to return again. If I may point out some concerns: the changing area for the room's onsen was located on the terrace (outdoors), which was cold (and wet floors made it chilly for feet); both morning and evening meals were followed by overly bitter roasted green tea; when informing in advance over the phone that our stay was for a celebration other than a birthday, it felt like this detail was politely overlooked with just "please relax"; and lastly, while the third guest's bedding consisted of a thick mattress instead of futon bedding, it caused back pain.

    Relax and Savor Delicious Moments

    It was my first time staying here. Although I live in Tochigi, I had only been looking for accommodations in Nikko and Kinugawa, so I never imagined there would be such a wonderful Ryokan in Shiobara. Even before our stay, we received a call to confirm our meals, which made us feel that this would be a pleasant accommodation from the start. The Onsen had an abundant water flow and was excellent. The meals were incredibly delicious, and the breakfast especially stood out with its warm, homemade touch compared to other Ryokans. Thank you to the proprietress and all the staff at the Ryokan!

    Excellent hospitality!

    We visited during the peak of the autumn foliage and had an absolutely wonderful stay from check-in to check-out. The meals were delicious and left nothing to be desired. If I had to mention one thing, the temperature of the large public bath was a bit high, making it difficult to soak for long. If it were just one degree lower, our stay would have been perfect. Thank you for even preparing iced coffee for us on our way home. We look forward to visiting again!

    I have been visiting every three years for the past few years, and this was my third time. The food was as delicious as ever, and the Room facilities had been renovated, making it a very pleasant stay. The staff's attentiveness remained excellent as always. I was especially delighted to meet the person who served us meals six years ago. I heard they are now 77 years old, which inspired me to keep doing my best as I turn 70 this year. My only regret is that I couldn't express this directly to them during my stay. I look forward to visiting again!

    The dinner's seasoned rice portion was quite large, but they kindly made it into rice balls and gave them to us the next day. Such thoughtful gestures were present in many aspects, making our stay very comfortable. The meals were also incredibly delicious.

    Everything was perfectly comfortable. The natural hot spring water temperature was well-maintained, the meals were delicious, and for elderly guests, the portion of rice was a bit much but kindly made into rice balls. Although I thought I had checked thoroughly, I accidentally left my charger behind. Later, they contacted me and sent it to my home. Thank you very much! Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    I finally had the chance to visit the accommodation I had been curious about for a long time. The room was spotless, clean, and very comfortable! I was also happy to find a hair iron provided. The private bathroom in the guest room was pleasant, but the private open-air bath was absolutely amazing. Dinner was satisfying in both quality and quantity, and it was incredibly delicious. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, which allowed me to enjoy trying different foods. Although it couldn't be helped, I did notice some noise from people heading to the large public bath or sounds of cleaning up after meals due to the location of my room. The staff were very polite and attentive with their thoughtful gestures, which made me feel appreciated. I would love to visit this accommodation again if I have another opportunity!

    A Nostalgic and Comfortable Accommodation

    Although a bit late, we stayed at this accommodation on the third night of our trip to Fukushima and Tochigi in July. On that day, due to the approach of a low-pressure system, there was heavy rain with warnings issued, and some areas even had evacuation orders. Unfortunately, the open-air bath along the stream that we were looking forward to was closed due to rising water levels. However, we were deeply impressed by the excellent hospitality of the staff who made us forget about such inconveniences. Our room was also slightly upgraded, allowing us to spend our time comfortably—thank you very much. The private open-air bath in our room was available without any issues. Watching the raging river while soaking in the bath turned out to be an extraordinary experience that we wouldn’t normally have had. The meals were authentic Japanese cuisine and absolutely delicious. The next day brought clear weather and lower water levels in the river, so we could enjoy using the riverside open-air bath as well. While parts of this accommodation showed signs of age here and there, they have been well-renovated in a way that felt nostalgic yet comfortable. The staff members and hostess provided incredibly warm hospitality throughout our stay—it was truly wonderful. For those from our Showa generation (born mid-20th century), it brought back fond memories of childhood trips with parents—a truly heartwarming accommodation experience!

    It was indeed a wonderful accommodation.

    I visited this accommodation alone in January to relax after the New Year festivities and had a wonderful experience. This time, I revisited with three classmates on our long-standing annual trip. As we are all aging, it might be our last trip together, and choosing this place was the perfect decision. We enjoyed the warm hospitality, the onsen, and above all, the delicious meals. The facility was very quiet; we hardly encountered other guests during our stay. However, at checkout, I was surprised to see so many shoes lined up—it seems everyone else was very considerate. Reflecting back, perhaps we were a bit too lively ourselves! Thank you for taking care of us so well. I hope to visit again someday.

    It has become an accommodation I want to visit again.

    I stayed at this accommodation for the first time while visiting the northern Kanto region. The welcome and customer service were very polite and pleasant! The meal was a soft-shelled turtle hot pot, which was incredibly delicious. Every dish was carefully prepared, with high-quality cooking that left me very satisfied. The service during the meal was also attentive. The leftover rice from dinner was made into porridge for breakfast, which was not only delicious but also left my skin feeling smooth—a double benefit! I started the morning fully satisfied. The onsen was very relaxing as well! However, the outdoor private open-air bath required descending stairs in geta sandals, which might be a bit inconvenient for older guests. I look forward to visiting again in a different season!

    Attention to detail is impeccable.

    It was a truly wonderful accommodation, living up to its reputation. I visited Shiobara Onsen for the first time because I wanted to stay at Yunohanaso. Living in a prefecture rich in onsen, I had never ventured to neighboring prefectures, but I’m so glad I came here. The warm hospitality could be felt everywhere, and I even experienced unique services that I had never encountered before. Rather than describing them here, I encourage you to visit and experience it yourself. I will definitely return again!
