    It has become a very favorite accommodation! The meal portions were a bit large for an elderly couple, but each dish was very delicious! If the checkout time could be extended to 11:00, it would allow for a more relaxed and leisurely stay.

    Every morning starts with a photo of the sunrise, followed by breakfast. The deliciousness of breakfast after a morning bath is, of course, unparalleled. Looking forward to enjoying a relaxing day, it’s best to opt for a Multiple Night Stay. I will also visit during the New Year holidays. I’m very excited!

    This was my first stay, and I stayed in a Room at Kominka Ayame. The Room was easy to use, had a great view, and the Onsen had a very pleasant salty mineral quality. Considering the price, I felt the meals could have been a bit more luxurious. The complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were limited to water only, just one per person. The private bath was clean and well maintained, so it was very comfortable. Even after arriving at the Ryokan, there was no greeting, and it wasn’t clear where to park or which entrance to use; I also carried my luggage myself. I’m glad I got to interact with the horses.

    A relaxing trip after retirement

    Stayed for one night from August 7 to 8, 2025. Chose this ryokan for my first stay in Ajiro in two years because of the great view from the room and the option to enjoy meals served in-room. As rumored, the view was outstanding, and the food was delicious and satisfying. The onsen was also excellent. I would love to come back again.

    An Accommodation You'll Want to Return To

    How many times have we visited this accommodation? However, this was our first summer stay. I wondered how an onsen in summer would be, but it turned out to be amazing. The weather, which we were initially worried about, cleared up completely. The vibrant green of the trees felt energizing, and the private open-air bath at night offered a stunning view of the starry sky with occasional cool breezes that were refreshing. The meals were delightful as well; we enjoyed seasonal summer flavors like pike conger and summer vegetable jelly. The natural hot spring onsen, meals, hospitality, facilities, and amenities are all top-notch—this is truly a rare accommodation that makes you want to return again and again. My wife also loves Mizuno-san very much; on our way back home, we chatted happily about possibly visiting Hatsushima next time. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality once again!

    Highly satisfied!

    I had the pleasure of staying at Takebayashi-an Mizuno. The most memorable part of my stay was the charming and professional room attendant, Mr. K. He was incredibly polite, easy to talk to, and shared local sightseeing tips and personal hobby stories that made me feel relaxed right after check-in. The meals were truly a "treasure chest of Ajiro's sea." Both breakfast and dinner were so luxurious that I couldn't finish everything. From golden eye snapper to spiny lobster, abalone, and sashimi platters—everything was fresh and delightful. The variety ensured I never got bored even during a multiple night stay. The room's open-air bath featured hot spring water with a cloudy texture at just the right temperature. Soaking while enjoying views of Hatsushima or Izu Oshima was an exceptional experience. There were also several free private baths available, each offering unique scenery and ambiance for a mini hot spring tour. One unexpected highlight was the "horseback riding experience." While lessons in Tokyo can be quite expensive, here it’s free for guests! What started as casual riding turned into learning commands like "go," "stop," and "turn" under the guidance of an instructor who is a former Olympian! The detailed instruction left me deeply impressed—I only regret not taking a photo with him! Overall, it was an incredible stay that rejuvenated both my mind and body. I look forward to visiting again soon!

    Accommodation where you can fully enjoy a relaxing Onsen.

    Stayed after a year and chose the corner room "Hatsushima" for the first time. The room was spacious with plenty of chairs, allowing for a relaxing stay. It was quiet as it wasn't adjacent to other rooms. The open-air bath in the room was located slightly higher, up four steps. While there is a roof from another building, you can still enjoy a panoramic view of Hatsushima and the sea over it. Despite the hot day, I adjusted the water to be lukewarm and enjoyed soaking leisurely. The amenities had been updated since my last visit, which was nice. The complimentary wine for Diamond members was also appreciated. Meals were seafood-focused with sufficient portions, and conversations with the staff member who attended us were very enjoyable. One minor issue: the water from the room's water server wasn't very cold, so I deducted one star for that; otherwise, everything else was satisfying. Having stayed at various ryokans and hotels across different regions, Mizuno remains my favorite accommodation that I keep returning to! From start to finish, their warm smiles made me feel truly relaxed. Next time, I'd like to stay in either a room with great views or Hatsushima again!

    It was excellent.

    I stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my birthday. The room's open-air bath with natural hot spring water was absolutely wonderful. The private open-air bath was so spacious and clean that it didn’t feel like a private bath, and it was amazing. The meals included a variety of seafood such as spiny lobster, abalone, and scorpionfish, which were so plentiful that I felt sorry for not being able to finish them all. Since the onsen water had a high salt content, cold water was provided, which was very helpful. The cold water tasted so good that I drank a lot of it. The in-room dining experience was excellent as well. The timing of serving and clearing the dishes was perfect, allowing us to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. One disappointing aspect was that we could hear loud footsteps from the room above us, which ruined the relaxing atmosphere we were enjoying. Additionally, although I had prepared myself for this possibility, they kindly asked about ingredients I disliked and assured me they would accommodate my preferences; however, one of those ingredients appeared in my breakfast dish anyway, leaving me disappointed since I had been reassured beforehand. While the baths were fantastic overall, having an outdoor washing area made it feel quite harsh during colder seasons. Despite these minor drawbacks mentioned above, overall it was an exceptional stay at this accommodation and one that makes me want to visit again!

    This was my first time staying here, and from arrival to departure, the staff's attentive service made my stay very pleasant. The view from the Room was wonderful, the bath temperature was just right, and all my daily fatigue seemed to disappear. Interacting with the horses also brought peace to my heart. The meals were not only visually stunning but also delicious. The staff's thoughtful care and enjoyable conversations made me finish everything on my plate without even realizing it. I had been looking forward to watching the sunrise the next morning, but unfortunately, it rained. However, I received a card with a picture of a sunrise instead—thank you for such a kind gesture! By the way, my family who accompanied me was also extremely satisfied and gave it a perfect score of 5. It became a wonderful memory for us all. I would love to visit again in the future.     An accommodation that feels like returning to your hometown

    The Ryokan staff has changed significantly since my last visit, but the heartfelt service that makes you feel like you've returned home remains unchanged, which was heartwarming. Having stayed at various Ryokans in the Izu-Hakone area, I reaffirmed that Mizuno is truly the best. The meals were not only delicious and visually appealing but also health-conscious and reassuring. The private open-air bath in the room and the reserved open-air bath with a scenic view were both incredibly relaxing, offering a blissful time while enjoying the scenery. The weather was mostly favorable, and being able to see a beautiful sunrise from the room was an added delight. All necessary amenities were provided, ensuring a comfortable stay. I look forward to visiting again when I return!

    The view from the Room is excellent, and the private bath is nice, but something feels slightly missing.

    Check-in starts at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:30 AM (the shuttle bus also departs at 10:30 AM). Dinner is served at either 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM, and breakfast is available at 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM. All meals are served in your room. If your room does not have a bed, staff will come to put away the futon before breakfast. Breakfast is plentiful and may take up to an hour for some guests, so it’s recommended to start early to avoid feeling rushed before departure. Upon arrival, you will be asked about your preferred time for the private onsen reservation and meal choices (abalone, lobster, or beef). For abalone preparation style ("dancing" or "butter"), we chose "butter," assuming it was grilled with butter; however, it turned out to be steamed with butter instead. Private onsen reservations are limited to one session per stay; however, allowing additional reservations after all guests have checked in (e.g., after 6 PM) would be appreciated. The bathroom in the room features a hot spring bath with water directly sourced from a natural spring at a temperature of 63°C. Be cautious as the water can cause burns if not adjusted properly—initially requiring over ten minutes of mixing with cold water before use. While this dilutes the hot spring minerals slightly, adjustments were necessary each time due to high temperatures. The refrigerator in the room was empty except for one bottle of mineral water placed next to an electric kettle. When asking staff if tap water from the sink could be used for boiling tea or coffee, we were advised against it and told that more bottled water would be provided upon request—but later learned from another staff member that sink tap water is safe for drinking. Tea sets (teapot/cups/tea leaves) located outside guest rooms were cleared away after breakfast service ended—leaving no access until check-out if you wished for tea afterward. The provided yukata was made of thick fabric but lacked traditional outerwear like “tanzen.” Instead, there was a down vest-like garment shared among other types of loungewear such as samue-style clothing—which felt somewhat unconventional. Despite staying in a spacious tatami room measuring approximately fifteen mats (~15 tatami), heating via air conditioning seemed insufficient during colder weather conditions—leaving us chilly indoors but encouraging frequent use (five times!) of our private hot spring bath as both comfort and enjoyment!

    Relaxing Travel

    I visited after retiring and settling down a bit for a well-deserved trip. The Room and the open-air bath had a charming atmosphere, allowing me to relax fully. The meals were very delicious, and the organic lemon was easy to enjoy. The deep-fried scorpionfish was absolutely exquisite. Above all, the staff in charge of our Room were incredibly kind, lively, and made conversations enjoyable. It became a very memorable trip for me. The only regret is that it rained during sunrise, so I couldn't see it; I hope to have another chance to try again someday!

    I enjoy visiting Onsen accommodations and often travel to various places. When choosing an accommodation, I thoroughly check Onsen blogs, travel websites, Google reviews, and other reviews. I pay special attention to low-rated points and carefully evaluate the responses from the accommodations to determine if they are within my acceptable range before making a decision. I was aware of Mizuno but had not visited due to some concerns. However, this time I decided on my first visit because IKYU.com offered a great plan and there were newly renovated rooms (Hatsushima). Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations (apologies for that), but it exceeded them by far! Even my husband, who usually prefers exploring new places, said he’d like to come back on a sunny day—which surprised me even more! Our room was on the first floor, so we assumed the view wouldn’t be great due to other buildings in sight. However, being a corner room provided an expansive view—especially from the spacious open-air bath with its breathtaking scenery. The room layout is divided into smaller sections but is surprisingly functional as it’s newly renovated. The amenities were thoughtfully prepared with everything we could possibly need from a guest’s perspective. The antique-style furnishings matched perfectly with the atmosphere of the room; chairs were comfortable too—particularly enjoying reading or gazing outside while sitting in the rocking chair felt blissful! The private open-air bath in our room was spacious and relaxing; although it uses disinfectants which was slightly disappointing at first glance—the water had no chlorine smell at all! With its high salt concentration akin to seawater combined with rare beauty-enhancing minerals like metasilicic acid & metaboric acid—it worked wonders for skin health as evidenced by how much lighter my husband’s old scars became after multiple baths here. Meals were delicious even for us who prefer light flavors regularly; seasonal citrus-themed dishes brought delightful surprises throughout dining experiences while their signature dish “Deep-fried Kasago” fish impressed us greatly—it was crispy enough down-to-the-bone causing even small-eating hubby overeating accidentally leaving no space left afterward including rice/main course (haha). Breakfast offered many varieties though unfortunately too much leftover since both appetite levels couldn’t finish everything served feeling sorry about wasting food unintentionally. Lastly special mention goes towards Maya-san handling service duties impeccably fluent Japanese mannerisms surpassing typical locals themselves impressively polite professional demeanor leaving     Very satisfied.

    We used this for my mother's 88th birthday celebration. We were very satisfied, even receiving a photo and a gift. Although the weather was not favorable and the open-air bath in the Room was affected by wind and rain, preventing us from seeing the sunrise, the meals, warm hospitality of the front desk staff, dinner, breakfast, and private bath were all excellent. We would love to use it again.

    Overall, I think it is excellent.

    The service and overall atmosphere are excellent, making it a Ryokan I would like to stay at again. However, as someone who has stayed at various Hotels and Ryokans, I apologize for pointing out a few concerns. Since it is kaiseki cuisine, the number of dishes felt slightly limited, and the rockfish with thick sauce didn't quite feel right. On the other hand, breakfast had a variety of dishes and was very satisfying. It might be due to having two head chefs as I heard. It seems that the Room has been renovated; however, placing an unused vanity mirror resulted in single beds with hard Airweave mattresses that may not be comfortable for older guests staying here. The bath becomes too cold to use when it's windy outside. Although I stayed at a low price this time and hesitate to complain much about it, I wouldn't consider staying at the regular price point.

    I would like to visit again.

    The Onsen with high salinity was pleasant, the dishes were delicious with flavorful broth, and both the variety and quantity were satisfying. The specialty rockfish was crispy and could be completely eaten, and the seasoning of the richly filled sauce matched well, making it very tasty. I would definitely like to visit again.

    It's really wonderful.

    This was my second visit following last autumn. The nostalgic building, the view from the Room, the bath in the Room, and the meals were all very satisfying. When you go up, the horses greet you.     My impressions compared to other properties in the same price range that I have stayed at. Positive Points - The quality of the onsen water and the view - They inform you of the sunrise time the next morning, and you receive a card with the sunrise image during breakfast - The toilet paper was soft - The service by the foreign female staff in charge of the room was very good Negative Points - The parking lot is hard to find I was casually looking at the parking lot under the building from the open-air bath in the room, and when a car came in, a young foreign staff member ran down from the parking lot on the hill to greet them. When I arrived, there was no guidance, and as I was about to park in the lower parking lot without knowing, a shuttle service taxi swiftly went up the hill, and I thought, "Oh, you can go up by car." I wonder if my 30-year-old domestic car was just thought to be lost. - The young foreign staff who guided me from the car to the room was clumsy He was a very nice young man who tried his best. However, his Japanese was still at a level where I honestly couldn't understand more than half of it. The older Japanese person who helped carry my bag from the car dragged the shoulder strap on the ground... - The room facilities are old and cheap-looking It was a shower toilet, but it was just placed on an old toilet bowl, and the color didn't match. The TV was extremely small. There were almost no power outlets, so I unplugged the TV and used an extension tap I brought. - During a multiple night stay, the flowing hot water stops at checkout time I planned to relax in the room, but when the water stopped, I decided to go out. - The outdoor footwear used to go to the private bath or vending machine was all wet I thought the geta-type would be better, but it didn't fit my feet and caused severe pain. I was surprised because I imagined there would be mini bottle sets at this price range. And so on, but due to the character limit, I'll stop here. In conclusion, it doesn't match the price at all. They had a 40% off recently, and if that's the case, maybe it's okay... I won't revisit in the current state.

    Wonderful Stays

    We stayed with three generations to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. Thank you for your thoughtful gestures during the meals. We stayed in a very spacious room with a great view. The sunrise scenery was truly magnificent. The onsen bath with natural hot spring water was slightly cloudy and made our skin feel smooth. The open-air bath was liberating, offering a fantastic view of the sea, and we enjoyed it multiple times, although it was quite cold, and the washing area being outside was a bit challenging. All the meals were delicious, and the clam shinjo soup was unforgettable. We look forward to visiting again to enjoy different seasonal meals at this property. Meeting the cute and beautiful horses was very soothing. We look forward to visiting again to see the Copernicus-chan(s).

    I had a very pleasan...

    I had a very pleasant stay. The private open-air bath in the room was a bit cold, but it was nice to have a reserved bath. It would be great if the reserved bath time slots were a bit longer.

    You can truly spend your time peacefully.

    I stayed on a day when the February winds were strong and the temperature was low, but the room was sunny, and I was able to relax in the open-air bath in the guest room. I could enjoy a panoramic view of Sagami Bay and had a truly peaceful time. The room was well-cleaned, and the amenities were plentiful. The texture of the Imabari towels was very comfortable. Although the interior is tatami-matted, the room has chairs and a table, so there is no worry about straining your legs and back during meals. The staff were very kind, and the person in charge of the room was particularly hospitable, making my stay very pleasant. The Onsen is on the hotter side, but you can adjust the temperature yourself, and it is a good bath that warms you from the core. The view from the open-air bath in the room and the private bath was excellent, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The meals were satisfying in both quality and quantity, with the seafood being particularly outstanding. They were served warm, making them truly delicious. I was able to enjoy the local mountain and sea delicacies and ended up eating too much. I bought dried fish as a souvenir and was able to enjoy it even after returning home. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.
