    Kano Crab

    I came to Notoya because I was craving crab. Crab sashimi, grilled crab, and steamed crab in a bamboo steamer! With plenty of rich crab miso, it was pure bliss. The other sashimi and the small side dishes were also exquisite. We had the meal served in our Room, and the attendant’s thoughtful care was wonderful, so we were able to spend our time very comfortably. I’m truly grateful. I drank too much of the sake that the shop staff recommended as delicious (lol). Next time, I’m looking forward to trying the curry I couldn’t eat because I was too full.

    This time, we came for the branded crab. The tagged crab was truly generous in portion size—we just kept eating in silence and ended up full from crab alone. The Facility seems to be shifting from mainly group guests to individual travelers, and with table tennis, tea and snacks, gorgeous kumiko woodwork decorations, and recently renovated private rooms with open-air baths, it feels like you can experience a Ryokan spanning the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras—including the staff.

    The Onsen is wonderful.

    We stayed for one night. The Onsen was truly wonderful! We booked a Japanese-style Room with a private bath; the interior felt a bit older than it looked in the photos, but it was fun sleeping on futons again after a long time. The amenities were well provided, and we were satisfied.

    A Satisfying Accommodation

    Our four-person trip to Kaga with a couple of friends was truly satisfying and became a wonderful memory. ○ Staff We were surprised at how polite the Japanese was from the overseas staff (laugh). Everyone worked carefully, and it felt great to see. We also enjoyed chatting with the shop staff. Thank you as well to the staff who provided Shuttle Service for being so courteous. ○ Meals Since we mainly came for crab, we were very satisfied. Not only crab, but also small portions of other ingredients were included, and everything was delicious. It was also a plus that the dishes were served in line with our dining pace. ○ Onsen We could relax at ease. The changing room was just the right size and had a small space where you could unwind. ○ Guest Room It did feel a bit old, but it was well cleaned and comfortable. ○ Service Nothing to complain about—especially the Shuttle Service. As we used public transportation, it helped us a lot. We’re sorry for asking something that may have been a bit unreasonable, but thank you for kindly accommodating us. This is an Accommodation with attentive service that we would love to visit again. Awazu Onsen is the best (laugh). It became such a fun trip filled with laughter. Thank you very much to all the staff who helped us.

    Wonderful Ryokan

    We visited from the Kanto area. The Room was very clean, as if it had been renovated (Hana Wing). The Room has an open-air bath, so you can enjoy it anytime, morning or night. Maybe thanks to the Onsen’s benefits, my skin became incredibly smooth. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and I was happy that the side dishes were different at both breakfast and dinner each time. Ishikawa rice is delicious—I enjoyed it so much that I had seconds twice. We were very satisfied. This trip was our honeymoon. Thank you for giving my husband and me such a wonderful time. We would love to visit again.

    Crab—absolutely satisfying!

    We stayed here the day after visiting Kanazawa City on our once-a-year family trip. Since we’re not from a snowy region, the snow felt fresh and beautiful to us. An open-air bath in the snow is simply the best. At the same time, we saw again and again along the way how much effort it takes for people who live in snowy areas. We were truly glad we came fully prepared with proper gear. It had been a while since we last stayed at a Ryokan, so we were really looking forward to it. Our whole family loves crab, and we wanted to eat plenty of it, so we chose Notoya. Crab dishes kept coming one after another, and we were completely full. Sashimi, grilled, steamed—and the crab miso was amazing. Everything was delicious. In our family vote, the sashimi was the most popular. We were already full by the time we finished the crab, but more dishes followed, and they were all excellent as well. One Facility-related point: the women’s large public bath is located down a flight of stairs. I wondered whether elderly guests with weak legs or knees might not be able to access it. The automatic chair lift attached to the slope was out of order. I felt that guests who don’t know about this in advance could be inconvenienced. We were extremely satisfied with this Ryokan, and next time we would definitely like to stay in a Room with a private open-air bath. Lastly, thank you very much to the attendant who took care of us. Your thoughtful gesture of providing extra bath towels was something we had never experienced before. Thank you as well for waiting until we were fully ready before seeing us off at the end. Please take good care of yourselves. Thank you for everything.

    Enjoy crab and Onsen for a truly satisfying experience.

    We enjoyed crab prepared in three ways: sashimi, grilled, and steamed. The rich sweetness of the sashimi, the savory aroma of the grilled crab paired perfectly with sake, and the fluffy texture of the steamed crab was truly delicious. The bath was spacious and relaxing, and even in winter, the outdoor bath felt pleasant with its cool breeze. Although it is a large Facility with some signs of age, beautifully arranged flowers here and there and warm hospitality made everything perfect. Thank you very much!

    Relaxing Traditional Onsen Accommodation

    I chose this accommodation because I wanted to eat crab, and the result was total satisfaction. I was thrilled to see the crab before it was prepared, and the fresh crab sashimi was sweet and my favorite. Warm dishes were served warm, and cold dishes were served cold—a simple yet thoughtful detail that stood out. I truly enjoyed the hospitality of a fine ryokan after a long time.

    A heartwarming accommodation, Fresh Crab Delicacy

    I stayed with my two elderly parents. Every staff member offered warm and genuine words, making it feel like a truly heartwarming accommodation. The full course of fresh crab was the best we’ve ever had, and everyone was extremely satisfied. The staff kindly taught us to pair grilled crab with crab miso, which elevated our happiness even more. Additionally, the non-buffet meals seemed to provide a relaxing experience for the elderly guests. It was a wonderful stay. However, as winters in Hokuriku are cold, I recommend staying warmly dressed during your visit.

    As expected.

    1. Customer Service It was raining on the day of our stay. When trying to park in the EV parking area, I couldn't figure out how to operate the machine and asked a staff member for help, but they also didn't know. I had checked the Ryokan's website beforehand, but there was no information about it. I struggled to untangle a hardened cable with one hand while holding my own umbrella, and meanwhile, staff were welcoming other guests with red-and-white umbrellas without offering any assistance. In the end, I had to re-park in another location and felt neglected. However, the attendant who served us was kind and helpful. Although it was my fault for oversleeping and being late for breakfast, without confirming at the dining hall or checking our room slippers outside, staff suddenly entered our room while we were all still sleeping to clear away futons—this startled us. 2. Facility The newly renovated areas were clean and modern. However, there was no sauna in the large communal bath area. The private onsen bath in our room had cold water at its base as only a small amount of hot spring water flowed into it—it did not warm up properly and felt very cold. 3. Cuisine The crab course meal was absolutely delicious and highly satisfying—true to its advertisement. 4. Overall Impression I have always chosen accommodations or restaurants through IKYU.com because of its reliability; I trusted that places listed there would be excellent without fail. This experience made me realize that this is not always guaranteed even when using IKYU.com

    Visit during the crab season every year.

    Please maintain cleanliness. The noticeable dirty areas were concerning. The UCC instant coffee in the room is outdated, even for a Business Hotel. Please switch to drip-style coffee. Let's keep up with the changing times; other Onsen Ryokans are making improvements.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    This was my first stay at the accommodation. The staff provided detailed guidance about the room and facilities upon arrival, ensuring a comfortable stay until departure. The room seemed newly renovated, very clean, and spacious with a bed-type setup, allowing for a relaxing rest. The onsen initially felt slightly lukewarm but gradually warmed my body from within, making it perfect for a long soak without being too hot. The private open-air bath in the room was also incredibly pleasant. I appreciated having two bath towels provided—one for the public bath and one for the room—which is rare compared to most ryokans that only provide one towel. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. I especially enjoyed the oden hot pot; I even finished all of its flavorful broth! Onsen trips are an annual year-end tradition for me, and this experience exceeded expectations, making it an unforgettable journey. I would love to stay here again in the future.     This is my second stay since last summer.

    This winter visit offered a unique dining experience with fresh and delicious seafood dishes like gasa shrimp and sweet shrimp. The duck jibuni was flavorful, hearty, and satisfying. The staff provided excellent service with just the right level of attentiveness, even seeing us off upon departure. We stayed in a Room with an open-air Onsen bath again this time, enjoying multiple soaks that left our skin feeling smooth and refreshed. Now that I’ve relocated to Hokuriku and have easier access to Kaga Onsen-kyo, I’m considering visiting again in another season!

    A bit disappointing

    The last-minute reservation resulted in a Japanese-style room, but I was disappointed to find hair on the floor and issues with cleanliness and the room's age. There was no explanation about folding (tidying up) the futon during breakfast, so I left for breakfast with the safe open and was surprised upon returning to the room. Dust from handling the futon caused severe eye irritation. Next time, I would prefer a bedroom with beds. If there is staff at the large public bath, it would be more convenient if towels were provided there instead of bringing them from the room.

    Stayed for crab and Onsen purposes.

    The service provided by the staff was excellent, earning 5 stars. They were very cheerful, polite, and pleasant. Thank you so much! However, I wanted to enjoy the late-night rice balls in my Room but was told that takeout from Yume Yokocho was not possible, so I gave up on that. Also, while the free Wi-Fi connected successfully, it didn’t provide internet access and was unusable. The building itself is old, and there was a noticeable smell in the toilet of the Room; however, the Room was clean and comfortable. The semi-open-air bath in the Room with natural hot spring water felt amazing—I used it multiple times. The food served was all delicious. Especially memorable were crab sashimi dipped into roasted crab miso on its shell—it tasted incredible! Additionally, steamed crab paired with Noto sea salt tasted exceptional when enjoyed with sake; my wife and I thoroughly savored it together.

    The Onsen was excellent.

    I mistakenly selected the wrong room. I thought a barrier-free room would be convenient, but I should have chosen a regular twin room. The barrier-free room had a slight odor and felt damp, like being in a warehouse. It’s been a while since I stayed here, but for some reason, I always seem to get one of the less desirable rooms at "Notoya." The woman who guided us and also handled our meals was very kind and attentive. However, the young male staff at the front desk were somewhat lacking in their service; with that level of response, it might not encourage repeat visits. The Onsen was great for relaxing and soaking leisurely. As for the meals, there wasn’t anything particularly unique, but they were delicious nonetheless.

    First Open-Air Bath Experience

    I was looking forward to staying in a room with an open-air bath. However, when I tried to use it, the water temperature was too hot, and I couldn't get in. After reducing the water level by about half, I managed to use it in the morning. Is there any way to adjust the temperature? Not everyone prefers very hot water. The facilities and rooms were very clean. The bedding, in particular, felt fresh and comfortable. Overall, I think I was satisfied with my stay.

    We stayed as a family of six spanning three generations. From arrival to departure, the staff were very kind, energetic, and attentive, making it a fun, delicious, and fulfilling family trip. Although the crab was frozen due to the season, it was steamed perfectly and tasted sweet and fluffy! There were plenty of other dishes as well, leaving everyone full and satisfied. The Ryokan is said to be traditional but the Room was clean and comfortable. The large public bath was spacious with perfect water temperature that left our skin smooth. The changing area was also wide and convenient. However, we noticed occasional loud motor noises from the in-room air conditioning unit which bothered us slightly; hence we deducted one star for this reason. Thank you for accommodating our early breakfast request on the next day with such care—it was greatly appreciated! We are truly grateful for your hospitality!

    A historic Ryokan

    A well-established Ryokan with a great reputation among locals. The hospitality of the staff was excellent, making for a very pleasant 2-night stay. Both the Room's open-air bath and the large public bath feature natural hot spring water, offering a luxurious experience. The meals were lightly seasoned with rich dashi flavor, showcasing their high quality and leaving us very satisfied.

    Extremely satisfied!

    The room was quiet, the service was excellent, and we had a very relaxing stay. The Onsen was great, and we enjoyed it three times. For dinner, we indulged a little and ordered steamed Kano crab. It was so delicious that my spouse and I ate in silence. Thank you for the satisfying two days. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

    One-night, two-day stay with Onsen, cuisine, and sake.

    While waiting for the shuttle service, locals recommended two ryokans, one of which was Noto-ya. This raised my excitement even before arriving. A conversation about sake with the shuttle service staff made me crave sake during dinner. The day I stayed was peaceful without any noisy groups, allowing for a quiet and relaxing time. (This was the most important part.) **Onsen** Even with sensitive skin prone to eczema, I experienced no itching after bathing. It’s safe for those with delicate skin. I enjoyed the onsen three times—afternoon, evening, and morning. It’s also open at night. **Cuisine** The sashimi served in an ice bowl was delicious, and the freshly fried tempura was the best I’ve ever had (despite not being a fan of tempura). The sake tasting set is highly recommended; it gave me a great appreciation for Tedorigawa sake. (The staff member who understood sake made this experience even more enjoyable.) The foreign staff members were also very polite and attentive. While the quality of the onsen water was excellent, there were some minor disappointments: - The private bath located just past the entrance curtain to the women’s large bath area. - A slight chlorine smell in the indoor bath. - Lack of a restroom in the changing area. Even if these issues aren’t addressed by my next visit, I would still love to return—it was that wonderful!

    Healing Journey

    I visited Komatsu for the air festival and decided to stay at the same accommodation I enjoyed before. Once again, I had a wonderful time. Although it was a two-night stay, they kindly changed the menu, and I enjoyed various delicious dishes. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making it a truly relaxing trip.     It was a kind and warm accommodation.

    We stayed here for the first time, attracted by the reasonable price and the private open-air hot spring bath in the room. The water in the private bath was soft, at a perfect temperature, and very comfortable. We didn’t use the large public bath this time, but we look forward to trying it on our next visit. The meals served at the dining area were freshly prepared and delicious. We especially enjoyed the soup stock used in dishes like clear soup and hot pot—it was exceptionally flavorful. Using the late-night rice ball voucher brought back nostalgic feelings and added warmth to our stay. Additionally, we were impressed by how polite and attentive all staff members were; their hospitality truly reflected traditional Japanese "omotenashi." When we filled out a survey in our room, we received a thoughtful reply from them, which deeply moved us. Thank you very much for your wonderful service!

    It was disappointing...

    I was looking forward to staying at this lovely Ryokan after seeing the photos and reading the reviews, but I found the bath area very old and dark, with only indoor and outdoor open-air baths available. When I used it in the evening, I felt like nearby houses could see through the large windows. The outdoor open-air bath has a partial roof, but leaves from outside fall into the water where there is no roof (a net for removing leaves is placed nearby). It seemed like there would be many insects in summer, which made me leave quickly. The meals were average; breakfast felt simple, and I wished it had been more luxurious. Considering that we chose a low-priced plan, it might have been expected. The room was spacious but upon arrival, one of the sliding door handles fell off immediately. I managed to reattach it by pushing it back in place, but replacing the sliding doors might be better overall. The entire facility feels quite old. When trying to store valuables in the safe before heading to bathe, I found that it was broken—the door wouldn’t close properly so we couldn’t use it. Overall satisfaction with this Ryokan was low due to my high expectations beforehand; however, all staff members were very kind and accommodating. Thank you!

    Attention to detail throughout the Ryokan

    The staff are truly wonderful. Their kind words to small children are heartwarming. The flowers are beautifully arranged, reflecting their kindness. The building has been renovated and is impeccably clean, offering excellent value for money beyond expectations. Perhaps due to staying at many hotels recently, the Japanese hospitality here deeply touched my heart. The meals are absolutely delicious.
