Relax and unwind at your own pace.
Thank you for quickly arranging another Room due to an issue with our Room. We had reserved that Room because it had a great view, so it was a little disappointing. The meal was excellent—the meat was very tender, and we would have liked to order more, but we were already full. Every dish was delicious. Being able to play our favorite music during the meal also helped us relax and enjoy dining. The bath in the Room was also very nice. All of the staff were kind and helpful. We had a very relaxing stay. Thank you very much.

Second visit this year
We visited this Accommodation for the first time in March after it received the strongest “Absolutely!” recommendation among several options, and it was the first time in a while that we felt completely satisfied in every respect. From the courteous and accurate communication during the Reservation process, to the atmosphere, use of space, staff professionalism, and cuisine—everything met our expectations. With an Accommodation of this caliber, I wasn’t particularly worried about the food, and I had already seen photos of the interior on the website so I assumed there would be no surprises. In the end, however, what matters most is “people.” With group stays, requests often cause inconvenience and there are usually one or two small oversights on the day—but here everything was perfect. This time we came as individuals. We returned both to confirm our impressions and to be moved all over again. The entrance—still fresh in my memory as a favorite—is spacious and quiet. It harmoniously blends cutting-edge design with traditional charm despite being complete opposites. Personally, it may be my favorite part. Our Room this time was more compact than last time but more than sufficient for one night. The open-air bath is also spacious and easy to use even though it has privacy screening. The private dining room felt almost too large for just two people. The timing of each course and the staff’s warm smiles made for a truly comfortable—and delicious—meal. Overall, what stayed with me is how rare this Facility is: an excellent balance of new and old, genuine warmth from people, and employees who approach their work with sincerity—all coming together in perfect harmony. Newer Accommodations with a full resort feel are wonderful in their own way as well; however, as an Onsen Accommodation, this is a place I can confidently recommend as a distinctly Japanese stay where timeless tradition is beautifully integrated. Thank you once again for taking such great care of us. We are truly grateful for a relaxing stay that healed both body and mind. Thank you very much.

Overall, it was good.
This was my first stay. Thank you for kindly changing our meals from in-room dining to a private dining room. It was a great help. Service was prompt, the dishes were explained carefully, and the food was excellent. I would love to visit again. I am very satisfied. Thank you very much.

I felt very relaxed.
The term “hydrogen cooking” didn’t really resonate with me at first, but it was so good that I regret not having visited sooner despite coming to Hakone so often. The Room was calm and well appointed, and the meals were truly delicious. The only things that bothered me were that the bottom of the open-air bath (it felt more like an outdoor bath than a typical open-air one) was a bit slippery and unsettling, and that the sofa positioned facing the balcony felt forced into place and wasn’t really functional. Meals were served in a proper private dining room, and it was nice to see a young trainee doing her best. The in-Room bath and the view from it were also very pleasant. I will visit again, but first I’ll be heading to Hanaougi.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay thanks to the wonderful hospitality.
This was our first return in well over a decade, since staying here shortly after the Accommodation first opened. I remember being impressed by how comfortable it was last time, but this visit exceeded even that, and we had a truly pleasant stay. My spouse uses a wheelchair, and inside the Accommodation they provide a dedicated high-quality wheelchair, with staff assisting with getting around. The bath is in a separate building, yet they escorted us there by wheelchair and back, and even helped with getting on and off with two staff members—such attentive care that we were genuinely impressed. As for dining: the standard menu here focuses on meat cooked with a hydrogen burner (a very rare Facility), but this time we chose the kappo course. It’s counter-style kappo dining in an intimate room where the head chef cooks right in front of you and serves everything freshly made. The chef’s explanations and conversation were engaging, and the service staff were equally attentive, so we enjoyed both the meal and the interaction in great comfort. Their pride in not including tuna in the sashimi selection was refreshing, as was their commitment to sourcing ingredients daily through direct dialogue with dedicated producers from all over The whole country. The tableware—collected as a hobby by the proprietress—was also impressive and beautifully showcased each dish. Ingredients, cuisine, and ceramics were all outstanding, reflecting an exceptionally high level of skill. Another highlight is the counter itself: an incredible single slab of hinoki cypress—about 8 meters long, 60 cm wide, and perhaps 15 cm thick!! It’s so thick your knees may bump it (a charming drawback!), but its substantial feel was wonderful to the touch as well. Everyone greeted us politely with constant smiles, and thanks to their thoughtful attention throughout our stay، we spent a truly comfortable time here. We would love to visit again if we have another chance.

Impressive!
I usually stay at Accommodations through my resort membership, but I happened to choose this Accommodation because it looked great, and I’m glad I did. From the welcome drink to four kinds of homemade baked sweets in the Room and after-meal coffee, everything was thoughtfully provided. The Room is compact, but the open-air bath was always at a perfect temperature. The large public bath isn’t huge, but it was relaxing and comfortable. The highlight was the meals—both dinner and breakfast were flawless. There is also a counter bar on site. The Facility feels a bit old in places, but with abundant use of wood, it’s irresistible for anyone who loves Japanese-modern style.

It was a pleasant trip.
We arrived early around 2:00 p.m. after golfing, and we appreciated being welcomed with a smile. The atmosphere in the Accommodation, the staff service, and the meals were almost perfect. We chose a smaller Room, so it didn’t bother us much, but the Room was a bit dark, making it hard to handle the safe or read the instructions. This may be due to our age, but recently many Rooms are dimly lit, and it can be challenging for us as a couple. The baths—both the in-room bath and the open-air bath—were excellent in terms of temperature, size, and views. (There were no foreign guests in the baths.) We often stay at Onsen Accommodations combined with golf trips, and this one is A-class for us. We would like to stay again in winter. Thank you very much.

The Excellence of Japanese Hospitality
A stately atmosphere featuring abundant old Hida wood, warm hospitality from every staff member, and excellence in every aspect—the Room size, the quality of the Onsen water, and the high standard of the meals—made this a truly wonderful Accommodation. I regretted not having visited sooner, and I would definitely like to stay again. To further improve satisfaction in the future, we would like to share a few points we noticed as a couple. (We apologize if this seems presumptuous.) The open-air bath is small. Because the tub is almost square, it is wide enough for two people to bathe together, but you cannot stretch out your legs. Even if it means raising prices, we would like you to renovate it into a tub where guests can soak while fully stretching their legs. Also, some of the wood inside the tub has splintered and it hurts when you lean your back against it. Please repair this. One more point concerns stays with children. We were told that guests with children are limited to the second floor, but while we were sleeping in bed we could clearly hear children’s voices and running sounds from downstairs. In the large public bath as well, children were swimming in the open-air bath area, so I did not enter. Of course it is natural that there will be guests traveling with children; however, for us—wanting to spend quiet time while looking out at Hakone’s outer rim mountains—it felt rather lively and was disappointing.

Open-air bath
Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the staff’s hospitality was excellent. However, when I used the open-air bath in the large public bath, the bottom was green and slippery; on closer look, it was covered with algae. It felt unpleasant, so I got out right away. It was very disappointing.

I fully enjoyed Hakone’s natural beauty.
I traveled with my elderly mother, and we were able to get around the Ryokan by wheelchair everywhere except the open-air bath. We usually give up on using the large public bath, so that was not an issue. The room with a private open-air bath was very convenient, and even at her age she could bathe on her own. The meals were extremely satisfying in both presentation and content. Each piece of tableware was beautifully crafted, which made it enjoyable. Modern facilities such as the elevator were covered with wood, preserving the feel of a traditional wooden Japanese Ryokan while still being comfortable. Early in the morning, we were surprised by how many birds we could hear. We also saw an Asian Blue-and-white Flycatcher and a Narcissus Flycatcher.\nWe would love to visit again.

Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations.
I previously stayed at Hanaogi as well. I was looking forward to this Accommodation in the Hanaogi group that I love, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. First, I was concerned that the number of furnishings differed from what was shown on the website. Moreover, it was not decorative furniture but a chair on the terrace. In a Room for two, there are not many situations where only one person would be seated. In the end, an additional chair was provided, but when I inquired, the staff member simply said it was not possible without checking with a supervisor, which left me disappointed. I also asked this staff member about the start date for future Reservations. However, the date I was given was incorrect. Later, I received a call with the correct date via an internal extension line, but there was no apology for the mistake. At breakfast time, even when I went to the entrance of the venue, no one was there. There were two men in suits at reception, but both seemed indifferent—neither greeted me and they continued typing on their keyboards—which left a very poor impression. If they were too busy even to greet guests, I feel they should work somewhere out of sight. During breakfast, I remembered that an item we had specially ordered at dinner the previous day had not been listed on our bill slip. When I mentioned this to a female dining staff member, she said she had “added it,” without confirming any details such as the amount. Even though we had indeed ordered it, having something added later to a bill slip that we had already signed without our confirmation did not feel good. The cuisine, Onsen baths, and spacious lobby were all excellent. If I had not compared it with Hanaogi itself, I might not have minded the service as much; however, personally speaking it was very disappointing.

Thank you for your support.
This is an Accommodation my mother and I both love; we first stayed here six years ago, and this was our third visit. The meals, the Onsen, and the service are all outstanding. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us again. The cuisine in particular is exceptional—making the most of each ingredient while showcasing wonderful creativity throughout. We heard that the head chef has changed, and with the tableware also renewed, we enjoyed discovering something new compared to before. The appetizer and seasonal platter were especially moving. The homemade pudding served at check-in by your dedicated pastry chef was delicious, as were the baked sweets in our Room. We would be delighted if those baked sweets could be sold as souvenirs. We were completely satisfied with both the large public bath and the open-air bath in our Room. It was also great that the large public bath alternates between men and women in the morning and evening. The water quality, temperature, amenities, cleanliness—everything was perfect. As for hospitality, every stay makes us want to come back again. This time we were looked after by a trainee paired with a young female staff member, and we were impressed by their gentle manner and attentive care. I’m sure there are manuals in place, but we truly felt a spirit of hospitality that went beyond them. Below are just two comments shared with high hopes: 1) The sliding door in our Room did not fit well and rattled slightly when opening and closing. 2) Previously there were complimentary beer and juice in the refrigerator in our Room, but this time it contained only mineral water. We understand drinks are available in the lobby; however, we had been looking forward to having a beer on the balcony after using the open-air bath in our Room, so this was very disappointing. We would be happy to pay—so we hope you can enhance the selection of drinks available in-Room. We look forward to visiting again!

The Ultimate Relaxation
From the warm welcome on arrival to being shown to our Room and given explanations, the attendant’s graceful manner was wonderful. Even though the Room had tatami flooring, they were meticulous about not stepping on the tatami edges, which reminded me of the Japanese spirit I had forgotten. The food was also delicious, and I could really feel their commitment to the ingredients, their origins, and the cooking methods. I’ll be back!

Thank you for the wonderful memories.
It was a wonderful Accommodation. It’s hard to rate it with stars. There were moments that made me think, “Really?”—some felt like a two-star response, and others like three-star. However, we received such earnest service and thoughtful care that more than made up for it. I also felt the staff’s communication was excellent. In a good way, we weren’t overly attended to, and there weren’t many detailed explanations—perhaps that helped us notice various things on our own. Everyone enjoys their stay differently, so that approach may have suited our preferences. The meals were outstanding, with seasonal ingredients sourced from various regions. Everything was truly delicious. The staff’s careful explanations of the ingredients enhanced the experience even more. That said, it was my first time trying hydrogen cuisine, and the steak was less hot than an ordinary steak. I’d be curious to know whether that is characteristic of hydrogen cuisine. The other dishes were so exceptional that this was the only thing I noticed; the flavor itself was juicy and very enjoyable. The woodcraft items—the tables and chairs—felt like a showroom. The understated placement and the spaces surrounded by wooden pieces throughout were all calming. The baths were also great. The in-Room bath was nice, but the large public bath was wonderful as well. Being able to soak in clear water early in the morning while listening to birdsong was fantastic. The towels were comfortable too. At this level of Accommodation, I imagine staff development must be challenging. With many different guests visiting, you likely hear all kinds of opinions about service. There were three or four points where I felt it could become an even better Accommodation if improved further. However, I’ll leave those as something for Enka no Mori to discover over time—and if we have the chance to visit again, I’ll look forward to seeing how things evolve. Please keep it up. This time my wife and I stayed together, and we truly had a wonderful time. We will proudly display the original photo you took for us as something special. Thank you very much for everything during our stay.

Even better than the official one!
The pickup car arrived promptly, and being welcomed with smiles and in kimono truly lifted our spirits. The pudding served with the welcome drink was delicious, making us even more excited for dinner to come. We were able to dine in a private room as requested, and each dish was like a work of art—both the variety and portions were completely satisfying. The meat was fall-apart tender, and the herb dressing at breakfast as well as the clam soup were also excellent. Perhaps because this Accommodation has an in-room bath in every Room, we could relax in the public bath without running into many other guests; it was also appreciated that towels are provided, so you can use it empty-handed. The next day, they drove us to Sounzan Station in under 10 minutes, allowing us to reach the ropeway station easily. We would definitely like to stay again next time.

Attentive hospitality
This was our second family trip here. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed back with “Welcome home,” and we truly enjoyed the welcome drink and homemade pudding. The staff member in charge of our Room was wearing a trainee name badge, and their sincere, hardworking hospitality made us feel grateful and warmly cared for. We could really sense the excellent staff training at Enka no Mori. We were also told that the baths use water from two different hot spring sources: the large public bath has antibacterial benefits, while the in-room bath is especially moisturizing. They recommended using the large public bath first and then the in-room bath, so we enjoyed them in order—stone sauna, large public bath, then our in-room bath. There were two stone sauna rooms (one with steam and one without), both very clean, and our whole family enjoyed them. Our skin felt wonderfully soft and radiant afterward. The amenities were thoughtfully selected as well—stylish wooden brushes and even wooden toothbrushes. In the Room, there was more than enough bottled water in glass bottles, several kinds of tea leaves, and capsule coffee provided free of charge, which made us feel truly indulged. The meals were delicious, with great care taken in selecting each piece of tableware—making dining enjoyable both to taste and to look at. We also loved the atmospheric architecture with its beautiful exposed-beam ceiling. Throughout the Accommodation, everything is tatami flooring, so it felt wonderful to walk barefoot everywhere. With beautiful scenery, Onsen baths, excellent food, and attentive hospitality full of fresh sincerity, we were able to forget everyday fatigue and feel completely refreshed. This was a wonderful Accommodation where we would absolutely love to stay again when visiting Hakone. Thank you very much.

A Wonderful Traditional Onsen Hotel
Dinner was excellent. Every dish was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Breakfast wasn’t bad either, including the coffee. The Onsen was also very good, and the water temperature was just right. You can really feel the benefits of the Onsen water. The spa was fully booked, but I managed to make a Reservation for a Japanese-style shiatsu treatment. The massage was wonderful. This was actually my second stay. I’m looking forward to coming again. Thank you to all the staff.

We reserved two Deluxe Rooms and stayed as a family of five. Three chairs were set at the living room table, but when we requested five glasses, the room attendant noticed and brought two additional chairs of the same type. There are many staff members and the service is excellent, but it was disappointing that the refrigerator had only water and there was no lounge service, as most Accommodations in a similar price range we have used offer both in-room refreshments and lounge service. The Bar Kura is paid, but it has a great atmosphere and we enjoyed it. The bath was clean, with excellent hot-spring quality—really wonderful. After bathing, only herbal tea was available; having milk, ice cream, small cans of beer, etc., would have made it feel more special. The meals were pleasantly tasty, but there was no sense of flair or surprising ingredients, so nothing particularly memorable or special stood out. We had seen on YouTube that breakfast grilled fish would be salmon and mackerel (both not to our taste), so we asked in advance to change to another fish dish; they served thick-cut grunt instead, which was very delicious.

The Finest Hospitality and Cuisine
This is the first time I’ve stayed at such a wonderful Accommodation. From the kind thoughtfulness of the person who picked us up at the station, to being warmly welcomed by many staff members at the spacious entrance upon arrival, our excitement only grew. In this very quiet setting, we enjoyed pudding and drinks while looking out at the garden—and I was pleasantly surprised they even had beer.\nThe open-air bath in the Room was a little hot, but after adding a bit of cold water it was just right and felt amazing.\nWhat I looked forward to most was the food, and it was truly delicious. Everything was stylish, and we enjoyed every bite—simply saying “it was good” wouldn’t do it justice; everything was outstanding. The tuna sashimi in particular melted in my mouth and disappeared—it was unforgettable.\nThank you very much for taking such great care of us.

There are many great features.
The price is on the higher side, but I felt it is a good Ryokan that provides service worthy of the cost. The in-house facilities are new and clean, and I was able to stay very comfortably. While there wasn’t a single standout dish, the meals were high quality overall and very satisfying. What I especially liked was the Onsen. The open-air bath with mountain views felt wonderfully spacious, offered great scenery, and had a sense of luxury that can only be enjoyed in this location. The hospitality was excellent, and with plenty of staff, service felt attentive throughout. There were also staff members who appeared to be from overseas, but they were considerate and provided polite service. Overall, I thought it was a very good Ryokan.

It was excellent.
This was our first stay, and our family of four was very satisfied. First of all, the food was outstanding. My daughter and I have allergies, and while most places accommodate us these days, they usually just swap ingredients. Here, they adjusted not only the ingredients but also the cooking methods, which made my daughter very happy. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with excellent quality and generous portions. The staff were all polite and provided wonderful hospitality. The Room was easy to use and spotlessly cleaned, and the lighted makeup mirror was especially praised by the women in our group. The baths were separated into a lukewarm bath and a regular-temperature bath; since we were cold from the weather, it was great to start in the lukewarm one and then move to the hotter one. However, because hot water came out only when adjusting the temperature, I wished it could keep running even at a trickle—so I rated that part 4 stars. The open-air bath in our Room was just the right size, and we could adjust the temperature freely, which was great. At breakfast, they even changed place settings for my left-handed daughter—this is the first time I’ve experienced service that attentive, and I was truly impressed. Everything about this stay was excellent. The smoking area was also a lovely spacious Room; as someone who is often made to go outside to smoke elsewhere, I really appreciated that. This Accommodation offered thoughtful hospitality down to every small detail, and we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

I always look forward to staying here. The meals, rooms, and hospitality are all very satisfying. However, I have a few suggestions: the final fruit dish could reflect more seasonal elements, and perhaps replacing or omitting the parsley on top with mint leaves might be better. Additionally, the lukewarm bath in the large public bath was too cold, and the floor of the open-air bath was icy and slippery, which seemed dangerous. It might be good to provide a warning about this.

Revisit
I have been visiting this accommodation for 9 years. I love the large public bath and visit about once a year. It's a bit disappointing that the dining area is in the basement and lacks background music. Hearing conversations from neighboring guests can be distracting. It would be appreciated if the wine selection, including glass wines, could include more reasonably priced options. It's also disappointing that only water is stocked in the room's refrigerator; it would be nice to have at least sparkling water available. Other than that, I am very satisfied and will visit again!

Stayed at the accommodation after several years. The meals were as delicious as ever. The bath with natural hot spring water was excellent. The room's private bath had wonderful water and was perfect. The woman in charge of serving meals was calm and made us feel at ease. Also, the restroom was very clean. You can tell a good accommodation by its restroom cleanliness. I hope this quality is maintained, and I will visit again!

Once exceptional, but...
Drawn by the comfort brought by subtle attentiveness, along with the meals and private Room bath, I have visited every year without fail. While the dinner and Room bath met expectations as always, other aspects lacked the special touch they once had, making it feel like an "ordinary" luxury Ryokan, which was disappointing. Without going into detail, I also noticed issues with cleanliness in the large public bath and indoor areas for the first time during this visit. I believe good service deserves its price and do not seek cost performance; however, based on this experience... I am hesitant about returning.

It became a wonderful memory.
We had such a wonderful time when we visited for the first time last year that we decided to return this year as a couple to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. The facility has a unique style where you take off your shoes and walk on tatami-covered hallways. The reception area was equipped with floor heating, so even in winter in Hakone, it felt warm and cozy. We also enjoyed the welcome drink and traditional sweets. The baths were delightful, with different Onsen sources for the large public bath and the private open-air bath in our Room. It felt like a great deal to enjoy two types of Onsen during one trip. The public bath had spacious changing rooms, making it very convenient. This time, we opted to have meals served in our Room. The staff member who attended us was polite and attentive, leaving a very positive impression. Since neither of us drinks alcohol, they kindly recommended non-alcoholic cocktails, which was much appreciated. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. They also arranged a surprise cake beautifully for us, making this trip truly memorable. While there were some minor issues with the building's structure feeling slightly aged or having to use stairs to reach the large public bath—which might be challenging as we grow older—the private open-air bath in our Room provided great comfort. We would love to visit again!

I want to visit again!
It was my first trip to Hakone in a while. We used the Shuttle Service from Sounzan Station, and they picked us up within 5 minutes of contacting them! From the moment we arrived at En no Mori, everything was impressive. The hospitality and care from the staff were truly heartfelt. Compared to other services and interactions we experienced during our trip for meals and sightseeing, their service stood out remarkably! The warmth of the staff at En no Mori genuinely touched us. The Room had a calm atmosphere, allowing us to relax completely. We also enjoyed the private open-air bath with a serene view of the forest! And then there was the food! The flavors were gentle yet delicious, perfectly paired with wine. With Bluetooth available, we listened to our favorite music while enjoying an exquisite dining experience! After dinner, we headed to the BAR we'd been looking forward to visiting! I even got to try Ichiro's Malt Red Cask that I usually can't find elsewhere! Their drink menu is extensive as well! Breakfast was traditional Japanese cuisine with plenty of variety—so satisfying that it felt like a true travel indulgence as I ate my fill in delight! Though I didn’t want it to end, checkout time came too soon. On our way down in the elevator, we met another couple; it turns out that one of them has been a repeat visitor many times—it made me happy knowing others share my appreciation for En no Mori’s charm. We used their Shuttle Service again on our way back to Sounzan Station. Although it was just one night’s stay, time flew by so quickly—but now I'm already thinking about bringing my parents next time! Thank you for such wonderful moments! Lastly—the heated floors are amazing!
