    For the price, it was…

    The food was delicious, but I was disappointed that I went expecting pizza and, since I was dining alone, only the focaccia was available. Also, the morning drinks felt like an all-you-can-drink setup, but they were far from my seat and I had to walk over to where the staff were standing to get them, which made it very inconvenient.

    We had a luxurious stay.

    This was my first stay, and the Facility was very clean. The staff were also wonderfully welcoming, and I had a great time. The Room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the lake right in front of us. It was also great to be able to watch various streaming videos on the large projector. I understand this can’t be helped in summer, but it was disappointing that there were so many insects on the outdoor terrace that we couldn’t really use it. The food was delicious as well, but I noticed that some drinks listed on the menu were sold out. It’s a small thing in itself, but details like this can give the impression that things aren’t being managed thoroughly. (In the end, though, it led me to try something new—so it worked out!)

    It was a wonderful Facility that maintained its high rating.

    The staff were incredibly accommodating. I really enjoyed our little chats. Every dish was truly delicious, and I was completely satisfied. I’d definitely love to visit again. I don’t usually write a Review, but it was so wonderful that I had to!

    Quiet Time

    We enjoyed a peaceful stay at this small, newly opened Hotel. The meals were made with very fresh ingredients, and we truly enjoyed them. The ancient burial mound visible right in front of us helped us forget everyday life, which was a unique experience. We hope to visit again during the winter crab season.

    It was wonderful.

    Everything was excellent—no complaints at all. It was a truly memorable Hotel. The food in particular was outstanding; it may have been the best of any place we’ve stayed so far. Not only was it delicious, but the portions were generous—we’re big eaters, and even we left completely full. The Room was also wonderful, with a lovely view of Lake Biwa. Simply the best. To prove it, as soon as we got home we made another Reservation for the crab course—it's six months away, but we’re already excited to enjoy your料理 again. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to our next stay.

    A hotel offering the perfect trio: people, nature, and cuisine

    Staff…Everyone was friendly, gentle, and welcoming—an excellent impression. Nature/Garden & Views…A garden where you can enjoy birdsong and a variety of plants while feeling the seasonal breeze, plus the view of Lake Rikō from there. It truly lifts your spirits. Cuisine/Dinner & Breakfast…On a personal note, I had just had a tooth extracted and couldn’t drink alcohol, but the Italian dishes skillfully made with local ingredients were outstanding—every single one was delicious. The same goes for breakfast. Honestly, my spouse and I kept looking at each other saying, “This is so good,” over and over. It felt like not just our taste buds but our stomachs—our whole bodies—were genuinely happy to be taking in such delicious, high-quality food. This must be what real satisfaction from dining feels like. We have a few Hotels/Ryokan that left us with such a great impression that we think, “We want to come back,” and Lake Villa Soka has now joined that list. We’re grateful for the heartfelt service at this small, clean, stylish, comfortable Facility—with the perfect trio of staff, nature, and cuisine all coming together beautifully.

    I can’t wait to visit again!!

    Unfortunately, it rained, but even in the rain the garden, the Room, and the views were wonderful. Above all, the service was outstanding, and we received heartfelt hospitality from everyone. I have stayed at many Accommodations before, but this Accommodation offered more than just polite service—your thoughtful attention to every detail came so naturally, and it made for a truly pleasant stay. And the food was absolutely delicious!!! It was so good that even though I was full, I still had seconds of focaccia!!! My husband and I tried to decide what was the most delicious dish, but everything was so good we couldn’t choose just one (lol). The next day we stayed at another Accommodation, and I regretted not having a Multiple Night Stay here. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

    A top contender for my first repeat stay

    We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room size, comfort, and interior design. What stood out most was the staff’s warm, attentive hospitality. Even at a luxury Ryokan or fine-dining restaurant, the overall impression can change depending on the service, and everyone here felt truly professional. We don’t usually return to the same place for family trips, but this time we’re so satisfied that we may come back again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    Outstanding crab cuisine and a refined setting, with hopes for further improvements in service.

    I stayed at Kotei Soka for a three-night Multiple Night Stay. Overall, it was an extremely comfortable stay and a wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again. [What I liked] An unforgettable crab dinner: The crab dishes at dinner were truly outstanding. The quality of the ingredients really came through, and each dish was prepared with great care—easily the best memory of this trip. Beautiful design: The Room interior and overall design were excellent, allowing me to spend a luxurious time in a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Convenience of the in-room Onsen: The Onsen in the Room was always at the perfect temperature, and being able to bathe whenever I wanted felt wonderfully indulgent. [Suggestions for improvement / requests] About the outdoor pool: Since it is not heated in winter, I couldn’t use it and could only admire it from afar, which was a bit disappointing. I would be happy if there were some way to make use of it even during winter. Breakfast content: Because dinner was so luxurious and impressive, breakfast felt a little simple by comparison. I hope for a breakfast with more variety or a special touch that matches the quality of dinner. Checkout flexibility: Standard checkout is 10:00, which feels slightly early. As this was a three-night Multiple Night Stay, I requested late checkout until 11:00; however, I was told an additional fee (4,400 yen) would apply. As a longer-stay guest, that felt somewhat disappointing. If there were more flexibility or preferential treatment for guests staying multiple nights—such as allowing some extra time—it could further improve guest satisfaction. [Overall] Although I noted some small points above, overall I am very satisfied and have become a fan of this Accommodation. I look forward to visiting again next time.

    It was a wonderful Hotel!

    My mother and I stayed in the Villa Fuyu Room. We loved the modern interior design. The lake view from the Room’s garden was beautiful, and it was quiet and relaxing. The crab-focused dinner was also delicious. Overall, everything was wonderful, but if I had to mention a few points: - There was no scale for using the drip coffee set in the Room, which was a bit inconvenient - Netflix was not available - The Onsen washing area had only three stations, and the open-air bath felt a little small - We would be happy if a Japanese breakfast option becomes available in the future We would definitely like to stay again!

    The Luxury of Doing Nothing

    On the day of our stay, the weather was so severe with heavy snow that the expressway was closed, and it took us a long time to get there. Even while we were driving, the staff called to check on our situation, and from the warm welcome at the front desk to the explanation of the Facility and their heartfelt service during mealtimes, it made for a truly pleasant day. Despite being the only guests due to the bad weather, we received wonderful consideration and reassuring hospitality. We were able to relax completely and felt very happy. The Room design was modern and luxurious. Dinner was delicious overall, and they even showed us as our pizza was baked in an authentic wood-fired oven. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that smoke from the fireplace in our Room sometimes lingered inside, making it a bit difficult to adjust. It’s an Accommodation we’d love to visit again in a different season someday.

    It was wonderful!

    The lakeside is simply the best... The interior design was beautiful and charming, making it feel like a place anyone would love. It had a Nordic × botanical × lakeside vibe (if that makes sense). Everything was just perfect. When it gets a bit warmer, I’d love to enjoy drinks by the outdoor fireplace while gazing at the starry sky. This time, I stayed with my husband, but next time I’d love to visit for a girls' getaway!

    We had a pleasant and enjoyable time.

    I stayed here with my mother for a year-end trip. The lake and garden could be viewed from the Room, bath, and restaurant, offering stunning and soothing scenery. The atmosphere changed at different times of the day—evening, night, and morning—and we could enjoy gazing at it endlessly. The crab course meal was absolutely delicious. There were plenty of drink options, and the staff recommended pairings to match the menu, which enhanced our experience even more. All the staff provided excellent service, allowing us to relax and enjoy a wonderful time together.

    I want to visit again in spring. The weather was too bad.

    One-night stay with a workation room and crab Italian course. Unfortunately, the heavy rain made the weather terrible. The garden facing the lake is beautiful, but the rain hitting the windows obscured the view, which was disappointing. The room was exceptionally clean, functional, and very comfortable. To access the outdoor bath, you use a connecting corridor. Since this is a small hotel with few rooms, it’s understandable that the bath isn’t large; there are three washing stations and a relatively small tub. The Italian course meal was excellent in taste. The appetizer featuring snow crab and herbs (served in its shell) was particularly outstanding. However, for a "crab" course meal, there seemed to be insufficient volume of crab overall. If one of the two pasta dishes (casarecce or pizza) were replaced with grilled crab legs instead, it would make for an even more satisfying crab-focused menu. That said, the crab pizza was incredibly delicious. Both wine and sake are carefully selected here. I tried local sake from Shirasugi Brewery made from rice used for meals—it had a unique flavor that paired well with Italian cuisine. The service and hospitality were impeccable; this accommodation has become one I’d love to visit again!

    The crab was incredibly delicious.

    A small hotel that you might pass by without noticing. However, once you step inside, it reveals itself as a charming hotel with a stunning view of the lake. The staff who welcomed us at the door were so refined and courteous that I felt delighted to have chosen this Hotel. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain earlier in the day, we couldn't enjoy the fire on the garden terrace. Still, we had a pleasant time strolling through the rain-soaked garden and relaxing at our own pace. The food was absolutely delicious; especially the crab cooked at high temperatures to lock in its moisture was exceptional. This trip was for two nights and three days, and on the next day, we had reserved another Hotel known for serving "Japanese winter crab." I underestimated Italian-style crab dishes—my apologies! They were truly exquisite. The Room we stayed in this time featured a central workspace and was compact yet highly functional. Most Hotels place desks in corners of Rooms which can be inconvenient; however, this layout worked wonderfully well. This is definitely one of those Hotels I would love to visit again someday.     I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night and two days. The staff's service was courteous, making my stay very comfortable. I was also deeply impressed by their prompt response to my requests. The guest room, as well as the entire Hotel, was impeccably clean, allowing me to enjoy a pleasant stay. For dinner, there were about five main dishes served, which felt a bit heavy on the stomach due to the volume. It would be great if the portion sizes could be slightly adjusted. However, every dish tasted absolutely delicious. As for breakfast, both the quantity and quality were highly satisfying. It was an experience worth more than its price value, and I would love to stay again!

    I want to see that lake again.

    A repeat visit in autumn after summer. The lakeside scenery is beautifully colored, whether under the summer sun or the autumn cloudy sky. The garden is filled with seasonal plants blooming naturally, offering a view you could admire forever. Meals are thoughtfully prepared with local Tango ingredients and can accommodate allergies with care, making them both beautiful and delicious. Each Room is subtly and elegantly arranged for comfort. The staff are polite, attentive, and sincerely cater to your interests with a gentle demeanor. I can't wait to visit again!!!

    A Hotel with Outstanding Atmosphere

    The Hotel had an outstanding atmosphere in every aspect. The view was amazing, and even though it rained, it was very relaxing. The Hotel's interior design and plants were incredibly stylish, giving off an international vibe. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was moody and excellent. However, the drinks seemed a bit too elaborate; having more standard options like regular beer or wine would be nice. The service was extremely polite and pleasant, making me want to stay at this Hotel again for sure.

    I have stayed at various accommodations before, but this hotel was like a perfect depiction of my ideal in every aspect, including atmosphere, service, and meals. It’s not luxurious or flashy, but it felt very homey and truly relaxing. The interior was also very natural and charming—I would love to visit again as soon as tomorrow.

    Villa Accommodation

    The most impressive aspect might be the staff's hospitality. When arriving by car, staff rush to the parking lot to assist with luggage. This level of service might be possible because it is a small hotel, but it is still exceptional. The facility was impeccably clean. The garden was well-maintained and flawless. Even while relaxing in the garden, staff offered to take photos, which was a wonderful touch. The villa was perfect with no complaints. If I had to point out a minor issue, the entrance was narrow, making it inconvenient for taking off and putting on shoes. Although there is a shoehorn, it is a short type, which is not practical. It should definitely be replaced with a longer one that can be used while standing. For elderly guests, this could be a significant inconvenience. If the entrance were wider, a chair could be placed for sitting while putting on shoes, but there is no space for that. Improving this area would be ideal, but it might be structurally challenging. Additionally, when opening the door, it feels like sound from outside might come directly into the room. That said, the living space and bath were excellent. The view was also stunning. If this accommodation were nearby, I would definitely become a repeat guest. It is that good of an accommodation. The large public bath was clean and hygienic, providing an incredibly pleasant experience. If I were to highlight one major point, it would be the meals. While not bad, the presentation and reuse of ingredients suggest that the management might be strictly controlling costs. With this menu, a meat dish would be a welcome addition. Another puzzling aspect was being strongly encouraged to watch as they baked a pizza ordered by a guest. Why? A stone pizza oven is not particularly rare these days. Also, the wine was not good. Since wine is not a major cost factor, they could offer better options. Breakfast felt a bit sparse. It seems like they are trying to cut labor costs and offer meals at a lower price, but with a price nearing 100,000 yen, I would like to see more effort in this area. While the room was relaxing, there is room for improvement in details like tableware. If these areas are addressed, this could truly become an outstanding accommodation. I hope to revisit during a hot summer day to enjoy the pool.

    Tranquility and Hospitality

    This is our second stay following our visit in August during the peak of summer. The meals were so delicious last time that we looked forward to enjoying the flavors of autumn this time. Spending relaxing moments amidst the tranquility of the lake is truly exceptional.     It was a wonderful accommodation!

    This was my first time staying here! I was warmly welcomed at the entrance upon arrival, and the view of the lakeside from the lobby created a truly wonderful atmosphere. It made me feel so good! The Room design was casual yet modern in a very pleasant way, making it comfortable to stay in. The temperature of the private bath was just right, and the latest hairdryer provided was easy to use. Above all, it was quiet and stress-free! The meals featured local ingredients, and for dinner, I enjoyed pizza baked in a pizza oven. The fig pizza was absolutely delicious. Additionally, I appreciated the polite and detailed explanations about the food from a soft-spoken male staff member—it added such charm to our dining experience! I believe there are different ways to enjoy this place depending on the season, so I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

The only slight disappointment was the lack of amenities like cleansing products in the large public bath, but even considering that, it was a wonderful accommodation I would love to use again.

    Adult Summer Vacation

    I had a wonderfully relaxing time. I lounged on the sofa bed, read the book I brought, and when I looked up, the sparkling Lake Riko was in view. Alternating between these moments brought me happiness. The meals were delightful, especially the vegetables—they were just as good as the sea bream! My daughter particularly enjoyed the seared Spanish mackerel. The portion sizes were just right; not overwhelming but satisfying enough to end with a happy "That was delicious." The overall atmosphere, including the staff, was calm and warm. This is an accommodation where I'd love to return with a heartfelt "I'm home."

    With a pool and an o...

    With a pool and an open-air bath! We splurged with our bonus to stay here! The room was clean, the pool was refreshing, and we were very satisfied! However, the breakfast we were looking forward to was extremely simple, which surprised us... No ketchup even for the scrambled eggs. Since dinner was Western-style, we wished at least breakfast could have been Japanese or offered as a choice. Considering how much we splurged on this accommodation... it was disappointing.

    Relaxing

    A peaceful retreat by the lakeside, away from the hustle and bustle. The focus was more on interior design, room setup, and staff hospitality rather than exterior appearance. The clientele was also pleasant. A few minor points to note: - During the hot summer, the water temperature couldn't be adjusted with cold water. - Opening windows due to heat let in many insects. - Could not go outside until 6 AM. Overall, a very satisfying and excellent accommodation!

    Excellent hospitality

    The most memorable aspect was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. Even from a distance, they were attentive to guests, which was truly impressive. While strolling through the garden, a staff member kindly brought us a handmade garden map detailing the plants. Additionally, when we were relaxing in the fire lounge after dinner, they noticed us ahead of schedule and lit the fire earlier than planned. The suite villa we stayed in was also wonderful. The private garden was spacious, and the view of the lake beyond it was breathtakingly serene and healing. Although I didn’t carefully select my meal plan and missed out on meat dishes, both dinner and breakfast were delicious overall. With outstanding service and location, I would love to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality!
