    Unfriendly accommoda...

    Unfriendly accommodation lacking in hospitality. Staff only respond when asked, and their responses to requests felt slow. Upon arrival, no one came to greet us. We had to find a parking spot ourselves and unload our luggage. At the front desk, we were handed the key but had to carry our own luggage, press the elevator button, and go to the room on our own. For dinner, multiple tables were set up in the same room without partitions. Conversations from neighboring tables were clearly audible and honestly disruptive. The food service was slow; drinks took a long time to arrive while hot pot dishes were heated too early—ready before drinks arrived—making it difficult to enjoy both at a proper pace. At breakfast, I wanted freshly made omelets and requested one from the chef but was told to take pre-made ones instead. Isn’t it standard for chefs to prepare orders fresh? Watching them cook is part of enjoying breakfast during travel! Additionally, they advertised freshly made rice balls handed directly by staff; however, upon visiting the breakfast area, there was no one at that station—only pre-made rice balls with soggy seaweed left out for some time. When I requested fresh ones from staff members, it took quite a while before they prepared them—and even then they made extra portions which they carried away afterward as if freshness wasn’t prioritized. Other menu items also seemed not replenished when fewer guests dined. The room itself was new and clean; however, indoor baths felt underwhelming while outdoor baths in annex areas didn’t feel inviting or like proper open-air baths at all. I hope improvements will be made by my next visit!

    It was a luxurious holiday.

    You can relax while enjoying the view of Lake Suwa from both the living room and the room's private bath, which was absolutely wonderful. There was an additional sofa separate from the living room, allowing all four of us to relax comfortably. For dinner, we chose Italian cuisine, and it was excellent. They kindly cooked the meat well-done for my pregnant daughter instead of serving it rare as usual, and it was still delicious. Breakfast included freshly made miso-grilled rice balls that were so tasty I had seconds, along with luxurious dishes like eel and sashimi. The local specialty konjac with miso also had a rich flavor and was delightful. We reserved a family bath as well, which featured plenty of apples floating in it for a truly indulgent experience. We would love to visit again when our family grows!

    Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and I would like to stay here again when visiting Suwa. The view of Lake Suwa from the room was wonderful. The bath and stone sauna were relaxing, helping me recover from fatigue.

    Lake Suwa After 40 Years

    I stayed with three colleagues at the accommodation. Although I had visited for work several times on day trips, it was my first time in 40 years to leisurely explore Lake Suwa and Suwa Taisha Shrine. Suwa Taisha Shrine, introduced by actress Mayu Tsuruta, is said to have connections with Jewish people. While exploring its history, I wondered what they cherished about this area and what they aimed to preserve here. From the bath on the top floor of the main building, I enjoyed a serene view of Lake Suwa at twilight while soaking in the onsen. The soft water quality was truly soothing. The meals were delicious as well. The apples I purchased at the shop arrived before we returned home—fresh, sweet, crisp, and absolutely exquisite! Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality!

    A cozy Hotel.

    I stayed at this Hotel for the first time during a solo trip by car. The single Room in the annex did not have a lake view, but it was spacious enough, well-arranged, and clean, making it very comfortable. I chose a Plan that included stone sauna and breakfast. The price was reasonable, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options; I especially enjoyed the rice balls and scrambled eggs. The restaurant for breakfast was spaciously arranged, making it easy to use even when dining alone. The stone sauna was also my first experience and very relaxing. However, I found the parking lot slightly inconvenient as it is located behind the Hotel without direct access to an entrance; you need to walk around to get in. That said, I received clear instructions on where to park from staff at the main entrance. Since my Plan did not include dinner, I asked Hotel staff during check-in for recommendations on local restaurants serving regional cuisine—they kindly introduced several options. Additionally, I had brief conversations with several staff members throughout my stay; all of them were polite and friendly with excellent service skills. I felt that this Hotel's charm lies not only in its Facility or location but also in its exceptional hospitality provided by its staff members—it left a lasting impression on me! I would love to return as a repeat guest if given another opportunity!

    The view from the room is amazing.

    The view from the Room on the 13th floor was fantastic. For dinner, we enjoyed seafood and horse sashimi at a nearby izakaya, which was very satisfying. The Hotel did not have vending machines for chuhai or beer. The breakfast buffet was also satisfying, and we had a relaxing time. However, perhaps due to the 10 a.m. checkout, breakfast being from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. felt a bit rushed.

    New Fireworks Display at Lake Suwa

    This is my second stay following June, and this time the purpose was to see fireworks. I watched from a 9th-floor room with the lights off, gazing out the window. The display lasted about 20 minutes, and I was able to fulfill my wish and experience a moving moment. I hope to see it again next year!

    I had a very pleasant stay.

    The location was excellent, right in front of the sightseeing boat dock, making it easy to visit various places. I stayed here for a solo trip and found both the service and the facility to be great, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. It would have been nice if the sauna was available in the morning as well. The souvenir shop was well-stocked, so there was no need to shop elsewhere. I would love to stay here again.

    It was wonderful.

    Stayed in a mountain-side concept room as the lake-view rooms were fully booked. The room had a spacious indoor bath and was well-equipped with amenities! The ReFa hairdryer added a touch of luxury! Although the room wasn't particularly large, it was creatively decorated, had a larger bed, and offered great views, making for a very pleasant stay. Where else can you find an accommodation where you can even make matcha? Amazing! Unfortunately, we missed out on the attached beer garden as it was fully booked by the time we found out about it. However, that’s on us for not researching properly during fireworks season! If I get another chance to stay here, I’d definitely go again! Honestly, if it's Suwa, this is the place to be!

    What is your name?

    The service, rooms, and meals were all satisfactory. However, the parking lot is located at the back of the property, and there is no rear entrance, which made the flow slightly inconvenient. When loading luggage from the cart into the car at the rotary area, a staff table was placed at the slope exit, forcing us to carry our luggage down from the stairs instead. Although staff members were nearby, they did not seem to notice or assist. This gave an impression that guest convenience in terms of movement was not fully considered.

    Positive Points

    Positive Points ① The Room had a great view of the fireworks! The tatami was comfortable, and both the bed and pillows were fluffy. It was clean and well-maintained, making it very pleasant. ② Amenities were well-stocked. ③ The breakfast buffet was delicious! Especially the freshly made omelets and rice balls with Shinshu miso. Negative Points ① Service at the Italian restaurant during dinner was disappointing. While the man with glasses, who seemed to be a leader, provided clear explanations and attentive service, other staff members simply placed appetizers without any explanation or gave unclear descriptions, which was a bit disappointing. ② During check-in, there were no explanations from the front desk about elevator locations or bath hours. It would have been understandable if it were busy, but there were no other guests checking in at that time besides us.

    Family Trip

    The building itself may be old, but everything has been beautifully renovated, and it was excellent. It was incredibly clean! The view was stunning, and the sunset made us want to keep watching forever. The meals were delicious, featuring local ingredients unique to Nagano, which we thoroughly enjoyed. All the staff provided courteous service, making us want to stay at this Hotel again. Thank you very much! My daughter especially loved the colorful yukata.

    The Italian restaurant in the Hotel is delicious.

    The Italian restaurant within the Hotel, where I used a dinner voucher, is absolutely delicious. The room had a strong smell, possibly from something like Febreze being sprayed, so I kept the window open and set the air purifier to high. There was something resembling blood on the comforter, so I removed everything before using it.

    A highly satisfying Hotel.

    We stayed here during a trip with a family member in a wheelchair. The entire Hotel was easily accessible for wheelchairs, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making our stay very comfortable. The Room was modern and relaxing, equipped with bottled water, coffee, tea, yukata robes, post-bath socks, and even samue outfits available near the lobby. The bed height was convenient for transferring from the wheelchair, and both the mattress and pillows were so comfortable that we slept soundly. The lake view from our Room was stunning; watching the sunset was truly soothing. The private bath featured a spacious tub and ceramic bath with excellent water quality that left our skin smooth and refreshed! There were also wheelchair-friendly bathing chairs and rotating boards to assist caregivers effectively. The public bath offered beautiful lake views as well as sections with varying temperatures—though overall slightly on the warmer side—and included my must-haves: a sauna and cold plunge pool! I couldn’t have been happier. Dinner was served at just the right pace; it was delicious with perfect portions of high-quality dishes. Our stay here provided such a pleasant experience that even my usually quiet husband remarked on how exceptional all of this Hotel's staff are—and I completely agree! For anyone considering traveling with someone in a wheelchair, I hope this review is helpful. We would love to stay at Hotel Beniya again when visiting Suwa in the future!

    The Crimson of Lake Suwa

    I had made an accommodation reservation for October 11 last year, but my wife was hospitalized due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage. When I contacted to cancel the reservation the next day, despite it being so last-minute, you kindly waived the cancellation fee and responded warmly, which deeply moved me. I vowed in my heart that we would definitely stay here once she fully recovered, and now, 8 months later, we have finally made it happen. The view from the 14th-floor observation bath was stunning, Room 802 was very clean, and all the staff provided such pleasant service that we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay. The fried shrimp was delicious too! The air and water around Lake Suwa were so clear, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking!

    The view from the room was fantastic, with a beautiful sight of Lake Suwa that felt refreshing. We were very satisfied as we could enjoy delicious meals in a private room at our own pace.     I previously stayed here with my family, and this time I stayed alone. The plan was cost-effective for a short stay. I booked a single Western-style room in the annex, and the large bed was very comfortable. The room included a humidifier, electric kettle, refrigerator, and adjustable air conditioning and lighting, which were convenient. There was also a self-service corner on the floor for coffee, green tea, water dispensers, yukata robes, and socks—very handy. Although I initially planned for one night only, I changed to a Multiple Night Stay due to my circumstances. The staff kindly accommodated this request on the same day. The room had its own unit bath; however, I enjoyed the panoramic bath on the 14th floor of the main building again during this visit. It offers an incredible view overlooking Lake Suwa right in front of you. There's also a lounge where you can relax while enjoying the scenery after your bath. The breakfast buffet was delightful with freshly made omelets and rice balls prepared on-site as well as salads, Japanese dishes, Chinese dishes, bread varieties, fruits like peaches (which were especially delicious), soba noodles with grated yam (tororo), juices like coffee or tea options—and more! My favorites were definitely the omelet station offerings along with beef tendon curry. One inconvenience was that ice machines are only available on the 14th floor within Main Building requiring extra effort accessing them from elsewhere otherwise linens-cleanliness replenishment services exceeded expectations overall! If given another opportunity visiting Suwa region someday soon exploring alternative guestroom types sounds appealing too!

    A Hotel You'll Want to Stay Multiple Nights

    When I opened the door to the Room, I thought it was clean and beautiful. The view from the Room was amazing. The staff provided refreshing and courteous hospitality. I would love to visit again.

    One of the accommodations by Lake Suwa, this hotel offers a 14th-floor observation bath with a view of the lake, which was a highlight. The room was part of an affordable plan, located in a separate building on the 4th floor—a twin Western-style room. While it had a Lake Suwa view, being further back and lower than the main building meant the view wasn't as impressive. Moving between buildings was inconvenient. The room included a unit bath, humidifier, refrigerator, and amenities but no charging cables. Yukata and samue were not provided in the room but were available near the front desk and in the separate building (self-service coffee and green tea were also available at this location). Ice machines were only on the 14th floor of the main building, which felt far away. However, there was footbath access and even a microwave on the second floor of the separate building. Having stayed here before as well, I found their breakfast buffet to be excellent again this time. It featured freshly made omelets by chefs and hand-rolled salted rice balls alongside an extensive selection including Japanese dishes, Western dishes, Chinese dishes, bread varieties, rice options like soba noodles or curry rice bowls; fruits; cereals; yogurt; beverages such as fruit juice/milk/coffee/tea/green tea—and everything tasted great! Local specialties like oyaki dumplings or Shinshu miso added unique flavors too! My favorites included white peach compote desserts paired nicely against spicy miso toppings from their musubi corner plus savory items such sweet-sour pork cutlets etc., While outdoor baths within annex lacked scenic appeal nor open-air ambiance worth mentioning much about them compared against panoramic views offered atop observatory floors instead where morning strolls lakeside proved refreshing experiences overall despite shorter stays managed affordably during Sunday nights amidst bustling crowds enjoying popular large-scale facilities alike

    Maybe I'll stay here again!

    The exterior and lobby of the Hotel have a traditional feel, but they are clean. The guest rooms were relatively new. Staying in a room with a lake view was worth it just for the stunning sight of the lake right in front of us. The staff were all polite and friendly, always with smiles, which shows their excellent training. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, so much so that I ended up eating more than I could handle! The meals featured ingredients related to Nagano Prefecture, such as local vegetables and Shinshu miso, reflecting the Hotel's appreciation for the local area. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, all tasty—I wished I could eat more! The meatballs were especially delicious; I even went back for seconds. Although bad weather and our one-night stay limited sightseeing opportunities, we still enjoyed ourselves within the Hotel—eating great food, relaxing in our room, or visiting the large bath with its beautiful lake view. It was truly two days of indulgent relaxation filled with "eat-and-sleep" luxury. Additionally, it's only a 10-minute walk from the station—highly recommended!

    I had an amazing time!

    We stayed at the accommodation for a mother-daughter trip to celebrate my daughter's birthday. For dinner, we usually choose Japanese cuisine, but since it was a special occasion, we opted for Italian. The staff kindly called us in advance to ask about the message on the cake and how many candles we would like. The staff at the Italian restaurant were all very pleasant, and we had an incredibly enjoyable dinner. The food was delicious, and my daughter was truly impressed. The breakfast buffet featured many local specialties from Nagano, which we thoroughly enjoyed. If we visit Lake Suwa again, we would love to stay at this accommodation once more.     Thank you for the very beautiful room and the comfortable service. The Takashima Castle night cherry blossom tour was also wonderful. There was even an amusement park for children! I hope to make a reservation again during the Suwa Lake Fireworks Festival.
