Enjoy breathtaking 14th-floor Onsen views and fireworks! A satisfying Accommodation with breakfast and comfortable samue robes included.

The location of the panoramic large public bath on the top floor (14th floor) was outstanding, and I was able to fully enjoy the Onsen in luxury while taking in a sweeping view of Lake Suwa. The water quality was excellent as well, and I found it soothing time and again throughout my stay. Since it was during the summer vacation season, being able to watch the fireworks launched every day became an unforgettable highlight. Separate two-piece samue loungewear is provided for use inside the Hotel, so I could relax comfortably after bathing and while in my room. The breakfast buffet also includes local regional dishes, making it a delicious way to start the day. The guest room itself was simple but had all the necessary amenities. If I had to mention one point to note, if you stay in an annex building, the walk to the large public bath and breakfast venue is a bit long and may feel inconvenient. If you don’t mind that extra distance, this is a highly satisfying Hotel packed with great Onsen baths, fireworks, and an excellent breakfast.

    Excellent access, location, and hospitality!

I could only take Friday off, so this was my first visit here—an easy direct trip from Shinjuku on the Azusa. The Hotel is located along the lakeside within walking distance of the station, with several art museums nearby. At night, we could see the Suwa Lake fireworks from our Room. Even though it was only about 10 minutes, my mother was thrilled to watch them from such a wonderful location. Dinner was an Italian course meal; every dish was delicious and very filling—we truly enjoyed it. The fish and meat courses were served a bit late and the fireworks time was approaching, but it wasn’t an issue. The morning buffet also featured plenty of local ingredients with thoughtful touches, and we enjoyed it both for its taste and variety. On the way home, we talked about wanting to visit again together. I’d love to return in a different season as well.

    Unfortunately.

We stayed on 8/14 in a lakeside Japanese-style Room in the main building with No Meals Included for two people. The view from our 7th-floor Room was great. However, considering the one-night, No Meals Included rate of about JPY 85,000 (tax included), there were some points we could not accept. When we entered the Room after checking in a little after 3:00 p.m., the refrigerator was not running. We had to plug it in ourselves and chill the bottled water that had been provided. After dinner, when we returned to the Hotel after 10:00 p.m., futons had been laid out, but the mattress was thin and felt damp. The large towels to take to the public bath and the towels provided at the sink in the Room all smelled musty (like mold) and seemed worn out—at a level where we wondered if they had even been properly washed. There were other issues as well, but these two points were especially disappointing. Even though it was peak season due to next day’s fireworks festival, is this really what service is like for a No Meals Included stay?

    Satisfied.

The Room was compact and our stay was short, but it was comfortable. It was also nice that the Summer Night Fireworks venue was nearby. The Room only has a stand light, so it may feel dim for those who prefer brighter lighting. The Onsen was crowded even after 9:00 PM, which may be unavoidable given that it is a large Hotel.

    Definitely coming back.

Both the Room and the large public bath were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was also well seasoned. The 10-minute fireworks at Lake Suwa exceeded our expectations and became a wonderful memory. It was such a great Accommodation that we could hardly find anything to complain about. When we visit Lake Suwa again, we will definitely stay here again!

    Obon Holiday Stay

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. The specially selected kaiseki course was delicious, and we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. The staff’s attentiveness was wonderful, and we had a truly enjoyable time. The view of Lake Suwa from the Room was stunning, and the Onsen was excellent as well. We would love to visit again.

Luxury Accommodation on the Shores of Lake Suwa

The Room was excellent. At night, you can watch the Suwa Lake fireworks from the Room. In the anteroom before the bath, there is a sofa room (for fireworks viewing?)—photo 1. From the bath’s glass window, you can see the fireworks and Suwa Lake beyond the sofa room, which makes for a blissful time—photo 2. Being on the 12th floor gives a powerful view, and you can open the window slightly to hear the sound. The semi-open-air bath is almost entirely covered by a ceiling (about 90%), so it doesn’t really feel like an open-air bath. In the large public bath as well, water droplets on the windows make it hard to see outside. In any case, Suwa Lake is dark at night, so you may not be able to see much anyway.

    Lake View

We stayed here during the summer limited-time fireworks season, when fireworks are launched every night for just 10 minutes at 10 p.m. Our Room was on the 9th floor with a lake view, and we were very satisfied because we could see the fireworks beautifully. The Room was also very spacious and clean. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, with just the right amount of food, and everything was delicious—we were very satisfied with that as well. The large public bath had a great view of the lake, and the Onsen water quality was excellent, making it very relaxing. Breakfast also offered a wide variety, including a tasting comparison of local miso from a miso brewery and soba noodles, which we really enjoyed. We would love to visit again in a different season, such as spring or autumn.

A wonderful view from the Room

The view of Lake Suwa from the large windows in the Room is wonderful. We also watched the fireworks from the Room. The relaxing lake view was truly soothing. The meals were delicious, and the large public bath on the 14th floor also offers a panoramic view of the lake—it was fantastic.

I wish I could have enjoyed the Onsen more.

Although I was told that the open-air bath on the 2nd floor alternates between men and women, I only noticed from the in-house information sheet that the indoor bath and mist sauna are on the 1st floor—so by the time I realized, they were already closed, which was disappointing. It may have been too busy over a crowded three-day holiday to give much attention to a solo female guest with No Meals Included. The panoramic bath on the 14th floor was wonderful, with sweeping views of Lake Suwa. I used it on the hottest day of that three-day holiday weekend, and I’m glad I woke up early to go in.

Thank you for your thoughtful hospitality.

It was my first time visiting Kamisuwa Onsen, and choosing Hotel Beniya was absolutely the right decision. The day we stayed was an unusually scorching hot day for Kamisuwa, but the welcome drink area had ice treats and salt tablets available, which really brought us back to life after walking around in the heat. The view from our Room was wonderful, the building was clean throughout, and the large public bath on the top floor was spotless. The shower heads were ReFa and the hair dryers were KINUJO—an especially nice touch for women. We chose an Italian dinner Plan, and it was very generous in portion size; next time, I might try Japanese cuisine instead. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options, including handmade rice balls and local dishes and ingredients, so we were very satisfied.

    A wonderful, well-established Accommodation

We chose to stay because we heard some Rooms had been renovated, and after staying here, we felt everything was consistently reliable in many ways—it was a truly good Accommodation. The food was genuinely delicious. We stayed with a child, and the kids’ set meals were all so tasty that even adults would enjoy them. The female staff member who assisted us at dinner was also wonderful. I wasn’t able to greet you when we left the table, but thank you for looking out for our child as well. Also, I honestly didn’t have high expectations for a breakfast buffet, but it featured carefully selected local Suwa ingredients and was truly delicious. As for the building overall, there were some areas that showed their age (such as the restrooms near the lobby), but overall we were more satisfied than the price suggested. If we have another chance to visit Suwa, we would love to stay at this Accommodation again. Thank you very much.

    Thank you very much.

I made a last-minute Reservation the day before and headed out on short notice. I considered a Business Hotel, but there was availability here (and the price drew me in), so I stayed. Everything was good except for dinner. The menu felt focused on efficiency over quality. Does the price outweigh the quality?

Anime pilgrimage to the filming locations

We stayed here as a base for the Suwa Four Shrines pilgrimage. Since it’s located between the four shrines (the Upper and Lower Shrines), we arrived in Suwa by car in the afternoon, visited the Lower Shrine, and stayed at this Hotel. The next morning, we headed to the Upper Shrine early and were able to take our time visiting Maemiya, which was our main destination. There are many Hotels around Lake Suwa, but we chose this one after seeing photos of the Onsen and breakfast on a certain booking site. Just like in the photos and Reviews, the Onsen was spacious, and the view of Lake Suwa from there was great. Breakfast had a wide selection—I made my own seafood rice bowl, and it was delicious. They also had grilled miso rice balls and a tasting set of four types of Shinshu miso, which made me very happy as a miso lover. There’s a Facility near the Hotel that’s famous for its geyser; unexpectedly, I also enjoyed an exhibit area on the second floor with various film-related materials like a small museum. This is a Hotel I can recommend for exploring around Lake Suwa.

The panoramic view of Lake Suwa was wonderful.

The front desk service was top-notch, and the Room was spotless and well maintained. There was also a sauna in the bath area. For breakfast, the chef cooked omelets one by one, and a staff member made rice balls on the spot. There were so many menu options that I couldn’t try everything. It’s a very good Hotel and feels reasonably priced.

    On my day off,

On my day off, I traveled to Lake Suwa. The top-floor Onsen was wonderful, and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Near the Hotel, there is Lake Suwa. Kamisuwa Onsen, Hotel Beniya— it felt like a Ryokan, and it was very nice. When I travel to Lake Suwa again, I look forward to staying with you.

    I stayed in a Wester...

I stayed in a Western-style Room with a view of Lake Suwa. The view from the Room was outstanding. When you lie back on the bed, you can see the lights on the opposite shore perfectly. With beds set on tatami flooring, you can stay barefoot and easily lie down whenever you like. The large public bath felt like the shower water pressure was a bit weak... Dinner was also served at a seat overlooking Lake Suwa, and it was so delicious that I finished everything. The sashimi and meat were great, but the appetizers, fish ball soup, steamed glutinous rice dish, fried items, and more were all carefully prepared and excellent. The building itself may not be new, but the interior has been beautifully renovated, and even the bathroom areas were clean and pleasant—I had a very comfortable stay.

It was either amazing or amazing—no other choice!

We stayed here right in the middle of Golden Week. From check-in, we were guided promptly and were able to enter our Room with no stress at all! For the view from the Room, I definitely recommend the Lake Suwa side—it was an amazing view! We also used the private bath, and the staff there were kind and helpful. Everyone at Beniya spoke to us warmly and kindly, so we had a very pleasant stay. I’m sure it was a busy time for you, but thank you very much! (The restaurant staff also had wonderful smiles.) We would love to come again, and we look forward to staying with you next time.

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay.

We enjoyed four Onsen baths: the “Top-Floor Scenic View Bath,” “Kiseki-no-Yu,” the “Semi-Open-Air Bath,” and the open-air bath on the Room terrace. The “Kiseki-no-Iyashi Japanese-Western Room with Open-Air Bath” was equipped with an electric bed and bathrobes, making our stay very comfortable and relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we would love to stay again.

    Winter Vacation

We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the scenery. The meals were delicious as well. We stayed for two nights, and it was great to have different dinner menus each evening. The sashimi and grilled fish were especially delicious on both days. At breakfast, it was nice to be able to compare different types of miso with stick vegetables. One small disappointment was that, perhaps because the floor directly above us was the large public bath floor, we could hear water running and couldn’t sleep very well. It does get quiet once bathing hours are over, though. It was also my first time using the hot stone sauna, and it warmed me through to the core. I was happy to be able to relax at a Ryokan during such a busy end-of-year season. Thank you very much.

    Mother's Birthday Celebration Trip

I had visited the Suwa area many times, but this was my first time staying overnight. Kurenai is located right in front of Lake Suwa. The view of Lake Suwa from the room was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking scenes such as the sunset, the illuminated cityscape at night, and the refreshing morning sunlight reflecting on the lake surface—truly a healing experience. The view from the rest area of the large public bath was also remarkable. Dinner consisted of a relatively compact Japanese course meal that was perfect for my elderly parents to finish comfortably. The flavors were delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed it with local sake and wine. Before entering the breakfast venue, I admired beautiful artworks displayed in the hallway, including paintings by Kaii Higashiyama and exquisite pieces by Émile Gallé and Daum Brothers—it was enchanting. I wanted to make an accommodation reservation for August during the Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival but found it fully booked already. If I have another chance, I would love to visit again!

Convenient for sightseeing around Lake Suwa

Convenient for visiting Lake Suwa and Suwa Shrine, but the facility feels outdated. The Onsen was pleasant, and the changing room was comfortable. However, having a towel rack above the toilet seat is unusual.

    Curious?

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay in the Hu-Yu and Hu-Tsuki Rooms. The air conditioning in the Hu-Tsuki Room was a bit concerning, but the room's spaciousness, furnishings, and interior design were elegant, making me wonder if it collaborated with Kitazawa Museum of Art. For dinner and even breakfast, I enjoyed twice as much as usual. Thank you for the wonderful meals!

    The location is excellent.

The room has been renovated, providing a comfortable stay. The public bath shows signs of aging, with temporary water leakage repairs and a small sauna. Breakfast is generally delicious and offers good value for money.
