    The staff were excellent.

The staff were very attentive and provided polite, dedicated service, which was excellent. The only disappointment was that the Room smelled damp and musty.

    It was very relaxing.

I was truly soothed by the open-air bath attached to my Room. Listening to the evening cicadas and feeling the breeze, I enjoyed soaking in the Onsen with an indescribable sense of calm. I would love to visit again when I return to Japan. Some of the staff were international, but everyone spoke Japanese very well, which made me feel at ease. Thank you very much.

We were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay as a family.

The room had a private open-air bath, and our family was able to relax and enjoy it together. The meals were luxurious and delicious, and we truly appreciated the equally lavish meal provided for our 2-year-old child. Thank you very much.

    So-so.

The service felt average. There were no specific issues to point out, but I wouldn’t strongly recommend it as an outstanding Facility.

We used this for a family trip, and overall we were satisfied!

We stayed here for a family trip. I had read recent Reviews as well, and since our Room was the farthest one, it took time to go back and forth. Our kids are very energetic, so it wasn’t too hard for us, but it may be tough for some people. As for the service, most of the staff were foreigners, so guests who feel uneasy about that might be a bit confused at first. However, their hospitality was excellent, and we had no issues during our stay. They were especially great with children. The meals were delicious. The late-night inari sushi and kanpyo rolls were particularly tasty. The building is old, so if you like that kind of atmosphere or don’t mind it, you can really enjoy your stay. The photos may raise expectations too much, so I think reading the Reviews before visiting will help avoid any mismatch.

    This is my second visit.

Most of the staff were international, but everyone was polite and kind. The meals came with various special touches, which made them very enjoyable. Everything was delicious and satisfying. I was happy to relax and enjoy the Onsen anytime. I will definitely visit again.

A quiet accommodation with attentive hospitality

We were completely satisfied with the meals, the hot springs, and the Accommodation. The Ryokan staff were incredibly kind, and it really lifted our spirits. We wished we could have stayed one more night. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

    An Accommodation for Discerning Guests

The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and overall I was satisfied with the service. However, because we were assigned the farthest Room, getting anywhere required a long walk through a maze-like Ryokan that has been expanded over time in the typical Japanese style, going up and down stairs repeatedly. It was difficult even to reach the dining area properly, and stepping outside the Accommodation was also a struggle. Although there is a wheelchair and a stair-descending device where you sit while going down, I can still walk normally, so it felt too burdensome to use them. At the very least, I would have appreciated more consideration with luggage—not only at check-in but also having staff carry it at check-out. Also, as mentioned above, everything is far away, so even getting a single drink of water was inconvenient. Couldn’t mineral water or sparkling water have been placed in the refrigerator (even for an additional charge)? The vending machine was out of order and we couldn’t even buy cold drinks, which made me feel this even more. Bottled water or sparkling water wouldn’t cost much. In addition, although the toilet and washbasin are inside the Room, you have to put on sandals at the entranceway, pass through the wash area, then change into slippers again for the toilet—an inconvenience that makes me wonder if there is a fundamental design problem. The flow throughout is poor. As for facilities and layout issues, it wasn’t simply that things are old; rather, as an approach to hospitality itself it fundamentally didn’t align with what I value. And these days it’s normal to carry multiple mobile devices; however, there were only a few outlets and they were located in inconvenient places. The food was heavily seasoned and quite rich. Also during meals we could constantly hear loud children’s voices; it didn’t feel like being in a private room at all. Since this Accommodation seems to be aimed at younger guests by concept/design direction (that’s how it came across), I felt that my expected way of enjoying quiet private dining and Onsen relaxation would not be possible here. To repeat: my satisfaction with each individual staff member was high. That said، this seems to be an issue of management mindset on the Hotel/Accommodation side. In any case، I did not feel genuine hospitality in each service provided. I will most likely never choose this Accommodation—or the company operating it—again. I sincerely wish you continued success in the future.

    First Visit to Nasu Highlands

Dinner offered a nice variety, and we enjoyed it. The large public bath was not warm enough.

    The meals are exceptionally delicious.

The Room feels a bit traditional, but it’s clean, so there’s no problem at all. The open-air bath in the Room is very spacious, and you can relax while quietly enjoying the night view. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes and were very delicious. The make-your-own tofu, salt-baked char, and Nasu beef were outstanding. They even prepared inari sushi as a late-night snack. I was truly touched by their thoughtfulness. I would definitely like to visit again.

    I booked and stayed ...

I booked and stayed here because the Reviews looked good, but it turned out to be the worst Ryokan. The building is old and not clean, with maze-like hallways. There was no explanation of the Facility, and the service was poor. I made a Reservation for a higher-grade Room, but it was outdated, the floor was warped, and there were strange extra rooms that made no sense. It was so cold we couldn’t stay comfortably. The Room had an open-air bath, but it snowed and no one cleared the snow at all, so we didn’t use it even once. Despite paying a high price, we only used the large public bath once.

    We stayed on New Yea...

We stayed on New Year's Day. The meal portions were very large, and since we couldn't finish them, we were told that the dessert would be brought to our room. However, it was not delivered, and instead, inari sushi for each person was placed in the room. Many of the staff seem to be from overseas, but everyone is kind and helpful. The temperature of the Onsen in the large public bath felt a bit lukewarm. It might be suitable for those who prefer longer soaks.

The bath and meal quality are excellent.

The bath and meal quality are perfect with no complaints. It was disappointing that the dressing room in the large public bath and the hallway stove were not turned on, leaving uncertainty about whether guests could turn them on themselves. For the next course serving, it would be appreciated if customer preferences were considered. The Room and foreign staff had no particular issues. Overall, it is satisfactory, but a little more attention to detail could lead to even higher ratings.

    Great value for money!

The distance between the guest rooms, lobby, and dining area is approximately 70m. It may be challenging for elderly guests, but there are wheelchairs and stair lifts available, which is very convenient. The staff are very kind. The private open-air baths in the guest rooms are spacious. The meals are delicious. While the facility overall feels a bit dated, it is highly recommended as an accommodation overall.

Overall, it was very good. However, I used the open-air bath in the Room early in the morning, and it was very cold, so I went to the public bath to warm up. I believe that a private open-air bath should be something you can enjoy anytime with ease, so it was very disappointing not to be able to enjoy it. The public bath was excellent, and the food was also great.

    We had a wonderful time!

We stayed here for his birthday trip. We booked with dinner and breakfast included. Every dish was incredibly delicious, leaving us completely satisfied. The availability of a Switch and a simple massage machine for rent was also a great touch! We had a very relaxing time in the guest room. If I had to point out one thing, it would be the public bath. The sulfur smell was quite strong, and there were ants walking around. There were two open-air baths in the public bath area, but there were many dead insects and fallen leaves from trees on the ground. While this is understandable given the season, more frequent cleaning would have made it even more enjoyable. That said, the accommodation itself provided an extremely satisfying experience! If we have another chance to visit Nasu, we’d love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Highly Satisfied

The room was spacious, and the outdoor open-air bath was large enough for three people to enjoy comfortably. Meals were served in a private dining room, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time. Both dinner and breakfast were served by attentive staff, making the experience very pleasant. All the dishes were incredibly delicious, with generous portions that left us fully satisfied. Our child even went for multiple servings of rice. After breakfast, there was a self-service morning coffee option, which allowed us to unwind further. Although this trip had a tight schedule with a rushed arrival and departure, we hope to plan a more relaxed itinerary next time and visit this accommodation again.

Stayed in a Room with an Open-Air Bath in the Garden.

The room had a charming traditional Japanese house style, quiet and relaxing. It was fun to explore with features like an unused entrance and a small tea room-like space, possibly remnants of the past. The meals were very delicious, with just the right portions for me to enjoy. When I wanted rice with the meat dish, it was promptly served, which made me very happy. I'm not sure if it was pre-planned or prepared upon request, but it arrived quickly so perhaps it was part of the plan. The outdoor bath overlooking a beautiful garden was lovely; however, due to rain at night, I enjoyed it in the morning instead. The indoor bath had a wonderful aroma of cypress wood and provided a delightful experience before bed. One downside was that the door to the room required quite some effort to open or close properly due to its age.

    Upon arrival by car,...

Upon arrival by car, we were promptly greeted, which was very pleasant. Although there were many foreign staff members, their service was attentive and professional. The surroundings and the interior of the accommodation were quiet, allowing us to enjoy a very relaxing time. However, there were two points of concern: When making the reservation, it was requested to provide detailed information about allergies or disliked ingredients. I listed my dislikes accordingly; however, this was not reflected in the meals at all. If only allergies are accommodated and not dislikes, then asking for such details seems unnecessary. Additionally, we specifically reserved a slightly more expensive room advertised as having a good view but ended up in a room surrounded by tall trees with no view at all. While it is understandable that marketing within truthful limits is part of business practices, the impression differed significantly from the photos on your website.

    Quiet and Lovely Accommodation

I had a relaxing stay at this accommodation with a calm atmosphere, as the room I stayed in was located away from other guest rooms. The private open-air bath in the room was excellent, and I enjoyed it until check-out time. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying, with every dish being very delicious. My companion particularly loved the amazake turnip served during dinner and expressed a desire to have it again. The staff's courteous service made for an enjoyable and truly rejuvenating experience.

    Extremely old

Stayed with my family of three on a weekend in April. The price was reasonable for the weekend, but there was no greeting or assistance at the entrance. We had to carry our own luggage to the room... All staff were foreigners, and it felt like they hadn't received training similar to Japanese standards... It left us feeling quite ??? about the experience. This accommodation is not suitable for those looking for a quiet time or wanting to enjoy a relaxing onsen atmosphere! The price does not match the experience! Don't be misled by rooms with private open-air baths!

    This is my second stay.

The staff are mostly foreigners, but they are all fluent in Japanese and very polite. The meals are delicious and the portions are very satisfying. While the building shows some signs of age, the wallpaper and other details are well-maintained. It would be nice to have deodorizing sprays available in the toilet or closet. One disappointing point is that this was my second stay, but I was assigned the same room as last time. Since I believe repeat guests are managed, it would have been appreciated if more consideration was given to avoid assigning the same room unless specifically requested.

    Relaxing and Healing Moments

We chose this accommodation for our first visit to Nasu Onsen and to celebrate a special birthday trip. The room had an open-air bath where we could stretch out and relax, and the large public bath offered two types of hot spring water. Having stayed at various onsen accommodations before, this was by far the most satisfying experience in terms of how many times we soaked in the onsen. The meals were served with thoughtful timing that matched our eating pace, leaving both our stomachs and hearts content. One disappointing point was that when we first used the onsen after check-in, the water temperature was quite low. Both the large public bath and the room's open-air bath had similar temperatures, which felt lukewarm to both of us. While personal perception of temperature can vary, it felt like there wasn’t much attention given to this aspect. Although adjustments were made upon request since temperature control was possible, if just a little more care had been taken with temperature management from the start, it would have undoubtedly earned a perfect score from us. Despite this minor issue, overall we spent a very relaxing and healing time here—a truly special and satisfying experience. Thank you also for assisting with our surprise arrangements!

    Great value for money!!

I have stayed at various places, but Hoshino Akari's cooking and Room were excellent! I visited on a weekday. It was snowing when I went, but the Room was very warm, which warmed my heart as well! Thank you so much! I will definitely return if I have the chance!

A property with a sky full of stars

The first thing that surprised me was that 90% of the staff who served us were foreigners. Their Japanese was very good, and it seemed they had received thorough training, as their service was excellent. If I may add a suggestion, I would have appreciated it if the staff could arrange their shoes neatly when showing us to the Room. The meals were extremely delicious and offered a unique experience with "stars" that couldn't be found elsewhere, which made me excited. The Room itself left an ordinary impression, but since it was snowing, the open-air bath in the Room was fantastic. I definitely want to stay again.

We used it for a family trip. The Facility itself had an aged feel if you looked closely, but the decorations and small items in the corridors created a nice atmosphere. The same goes for the guest rooms. However, there were some places where the sewing had come undone and was hanging loosely, which was a bit disappointing. Many of the staff were of foreign nationality, but everyone was courteous and friendly with the children.
