    Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    From the welcoming staff to the front desk team, Room guidance, and dining staff, everyone was courteous and made us feel truly comfortable. The Room was clean, and both the indoor bath and open-air bath were very relaxing. Each dish was beautifully prepared—from seasoning to presentation—and everything was delicious. Thank you for giving us such a soothing time on this trip with friends. Next time, we would love to visit again with our family.

    We approached via th...

    We approached via the mountain path on the back side and felt a bit uneasy until we arrived, but the Accommodation was wonderful. Because it’s surrounded by nature, it may be a little challenging for those who dislike insects. The Onsen was great, and we were very satisfied with the meals as well. There are many types of private baths—so many that you can’t try them all. It happened to be firefly season, so we joined the firefly tour too! We were glad to see them clearly. If I had one request, I’d be even happier if there were a water station in the changing room. Thank you for such a relaxing time.

    I enjoyed a luxurious, relaxing time surrounded by nature.

    We stayed here as the first Accommodation on our Kyushu trip. Surrounded by abundant nature in a quiet setting, we felt at ease from the moment we arrived. The Room was very comfortable, and the in-room bath was especially wonderful—we were able to enjoy the Onsen as many times as we liked, whenever we wanted. At night, we could see fireflies from the Room’s terrace and were truly moved by the magical view. Spending such luxurious time in nature became a special experience that helped us forget everyday life. The meals were delicious overall, but breakfast left a particularly strong impression. Each dish was carefully prepared, making for a deeply satisfying start to the day. We have stayed at many Accommodations, and this was one of the most memorable breakfasts we’ve had. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, allowing us to enjoy a very pleasant stay. It was a wonderful Accommodation where everything—nature, Onsen, and cuisine—was truly soothing. We would love to visit again in another season.

    A Family Trip That Delighted Our Parents

    Five of us—my elderly parents, my sister, my niece, and I—stayed in two Rooms: Asamoya and Room B with an open-air bath. We were honestly surprised at how satisfied we were with everything: the atmosphere on the grounds, the Rooms, the baths, the meals, and the hospitality. We sometimes stay at higher-priced Accommodations, but this was just as satisfying. The bath in the special Room Asamoya was wonderful, of course, but Room B with an open-air bath also had a large rock bath where you can fully stretch out. Soaking while surrounded by greenery and listening to the river’s gentle flow and frogs calling made my sister say she “didn’t want to go home.” With two large public baths, five private family baths, and additional baths in the main building—far too many to try them all—it’s a dream for Onsen lovers. The private family baths along the river can be used as often as you like whenever they’re available without needing a Reservation, so my niece happily went in again and again. The meals were beautifully presented, delicious, and very filling—everyone was delighted. Among Accommodations in this same price range that I’ve stayed at before, this is easily one of the best. Thank you for arranging seating so all five of us could dine together at one table. What impressed me most was your hospitality. Because my parents are elderly, you kindly accommodated my requests such as allowing our car to pull up to the entrance; providing a shower chair for bathing; and placing higher floor chairs in our tatami room. I was also amazed by how often staff members already knew our names and party size. We constantly felt your genuine care in helping us enjoy a comfortable stay—and everyone greeted us with warm smiles. If it were closer to home, we would definitely visit again and again. Next time I’d love to come with my husband. Thank you for helping us create such wonderful family memories.

    We enjoyed soaking in the private Onsen many times!

    There were many private Onsen baths surrounded by Hita City’s great natural scenery. I tried them all, and my favorites were Kama-yu and Kiri-yu. I visited in mid-May; the maple leaves were a beautiful fresh green, and with the sound of the river, I was soothed by nature’s own background music. They were also flexible with the Shuttle Service schedule, which was very helpful. The meals were served in the Room, and there was plenty of food. The kaiseki cuisine paired perfectly with sake, and every dish was delicious. The lounge also offered complimentary local water, which tasted amazing after a bath. Everyone provided kind service with just the right sense of distance, and they took great care of us. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again—next time during the autumn foliage season.

    Thank you for taking care of us during Golden Week. I’ve visited many times before, and this is my favorite Accommodation—always satisfied with the kind, pleasant service and the incredibly delicious meals. The Onsen is free-flowing and leaves my skin silky smooth, and I love the relaxing space with a great view from the café. The service of having souvenir buns prepared for us by the time we leave is also very helpful. Highly recommended!

    I’d love to stay here again and again.

    It was a truly wonderful Accommodation. There were several types of private open-air baths, and we used two of them this time—both were lovely, and we were very satisfied. The jacuzzi bath had strong jets and felt great. Every meal was extremely delicious. All the staff welcomed us warmly, and we truly appreciated their thoughtful attention to detail. Since this was only a one-night stay, next time we would like to visit for a Multiple Night Stay and enjoy the other baths as well.

    This was my second stay at Tensui. A secluded mountain lodge tucked away in the hills, with a stillness and atmosphere that feels as if time has stopped. Perhaps its charm lies in having nothing around. Simply relax in the hot spring and savor the heartfelt cuisine—this Accommodation is more than enough.

    A truly perfect Ryok...

    A truly perfect Ryokan—no exaggeration. The meals were delicious, and the Room had been renovated, so it was clean with a wonderful atmosphere. It’s rare to find a Ryokan with food this good. If you want to relax and enjoy an escape from everyday life, this is an excellent choice. There was even an Onsen you could use after check-out, and the service and hospitality were outstanding. That said, if I had to mention one downside, the Wi‑Fi in my Room wasn’t very reliable. I’m mentioning it because constant praise alone wouldn’t fully convey the experience. There was also a foot bath, plus many private Onsens, so I could enjoy a variety of baths. The staff treated us like family—I truly felt as if my heart was soaking in the Onsen as well. Next time I’d like to stay for two nights. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    This was my first visit in 20 years. I stayed here with my wife on a couples’ trip. The moment you step inside, a massive boulder catches your eye. The interiors throughout make powerful use of natural rock. The staff’s warm smiles reflect outstanding hospitality. There is no bath in the Room, but more than enough to make up for it: the open-air baths, indoor baths, and private baths are all wonderful. I was amazed by the sound of the river and the abundant flow of hot spring water. Both dinner and breakfast were truly delicious. You can tell everything is prepared with care—no shortcuts, with attention to the basics. Nothing flashy, just sincere and heartfelt cuisine. The bar was also excellent. The bartender’s service was perfectly balanced—neither intrusive nor distant. Enjoying great cocktails while taking in the night view was fantastic. Thank you very much.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    We stayed at the accommodation with our children. As expected from the excellent reviews, the meals, onsen, room, and service were all outstanding. In particular, having dinner served in the room was extremely helpful for families with children. We would love to stay here again when visiting Kyushu.

    Reliable Onsen Accommodation

    The onsen, meals, staff, and scenery were all perfect. Last time, I visited after the Obon season, but this time I made an advance reservation to see the autumn leaves, and it exceeded my expectations. I am looking forward to my next visit.

    Surprised by the variety of baths!

    This was my first time staying here. The riverside view from the bath reminded me of a place I had seen before, and it turns out the same owner manages Kurokawa-so. The meals were beautifully presented to reflect the seasons, and I enjoyed them from the very first dish. They also offered a selection of wines from various countries, focusing on cost-effective options that pair well with Japanese cuisine, which was delightful. The unlimited towel usage is a unique feature of this accommodation, encouraging more frequent use of the onsen. I would love to visit again!

    Zatts Onsen Accommodation

    The staff were numerous and provided exceptionally pleasant service. Although I hesitated at the time of reservation since only rooms without private Onsen were available, it turned out to be no issue at all. They added a dining table, which enhanced the comfort of our stay. It was a wonderful experience overall. One thing that caught my attention was the server during dinner (not their attitude). Despite the beautifully arranged dishes, they quickly divided them up—Kaiseki is also about enjoying its visual presentation! Well, there were other minor things I noticed too; perhaps they are still learning. The spacious grounds allowed for enjoyable Onsen hopping experiences as well. Though it’s quite far away, this is an accommodation I would love to revisit someday!

    Savor the Flavors of Autumn

    A serene atmosphere, delicious cuisine, and relaxing Onsen made for a wonderful experience. The staff's thoughtful hospitality was also very pleasant. The food, in particular, was exceptional. Carefully prepared dishes with gentle flavors were truly enjoyable. The Onsen was never crowded, allowing for relaxation at any time of the day. However, getting around involves climbing stone steps everywhere, which might be challenging if your legs are weak. One minor disappointment was the amenities provided in the bath; I regretted not bringing my own from home. Sakura Falls, within walking distance from the station, is definitely worth a visit. It’s also lovely to catch a glimpse of the falls from the open-air bath above!

    The best accommodation!

    I stayed for one night in the Open-Air Bath Room B with my mother and 4-year-old daughter. My daughter, who loves Onsen, was thrilled with Takikan-an, the private Onsen, Hibiki-no-Yu, and the open-air bath in our room. She especially enjoyed Takikan-an and the room's open-air bath multiple times! Since we were traveling with a child, having dinner served in our room was incredibly convenient and allowed us to enjoy a relaxing meal. Thank you so much to Ms. T and Ms. I for taking such great care of my daughter. She can't stop talking about the treasure hunt and delicious soft-serve ice cream! Next time, I hope to visit again with my son as well. Thank you for your thoughtful hospitality!

    Wonderful Accommodation

    We stayed as a family of four. We were unsure whether to stay in Yufuin, but chose this accommodation due to the positive reviews and the appealing photos of the ryokan. The staff kindly provided a car for my mother and sister, who have difficulty walking, to access the open-air onsen that required using stairs multiple times. They also made thoughtful arrangements for our room. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. We enjoyed dessert at the bar afterward. The natural hot spring water left our skin smooth every time we bathed. The water contains about three times more metasilicic acid than regular onsen, providing excellent moisturizing effects for the skin. The architectural design of the building showed attention to detail in many areas. Having stayed at various ryokans, this one ranks in my top five favorites. I would love to visit again!

    Lounge Hakurakuten

    As the name suggests, this is a mountain lodge-style accommodation surrounded by nothing but tranquility. The open-air bath with a view of the waterfall does not actually allow you to see the waterfall from within the bath. Additionally, another open-air bath (which was inexplicably lukewarm) is located right next to a river, but you cannot see the river while soaking in it. These are minor inconveniences, but the onsen water itself was excellent and left my skin feeling smooth. The meals were very delicious; however, they were not something that would make me revisit just for them. They were simply standard Japanese cuisine. What I truly loved about this accommodation was "Lounge Hakurakuten." I visited before and after dinner and enjoyed its stunning view of lush greenery and a flowing river beyond the counter. While lighting up the river at night might be challenging, having such scenery available in the evening would be perfect. This lounge is not like those typical "wannabe bars" often found attached to ryokans—it features an exceptionally skilled bartender who crafts delicious drinks and offers delightful conversation that makes time fly by quickly. I would love to revisit for this reason alone and even consider a multiple-night stay here. However, what gives me pause is that although they seem to change ingredients or menu items for multiple-night stays, it still means consecutive nights of Japanese cuisine. It would be great if they alternated between Japanese and Western meals daily like some accommodations in Kagoshima do!

    I discovered a true Onsen with natural free-flowing hot spring water.

    Finally, I found a genuine onsen with natural flowing hot spring water. Thank you very much. Many accommodations advertise themselves as having natural flowing onsen, but in reality, most of them have floating debris like hair and oil on the surface, making them disappointing and unclean. Even if the water looks clean at first glance, upon closer inspection, there is often something floating on the surface. However, Tensui's onsen was truly authentic with crystal-clear water. The combination of natural stones and wood created a healing atmosphere throughout the facility. Of course, I was completely satisfied with the staff's hospitality, cuisine, and facilities. The breathtaking view of the waterfall from the open-air bath is an exclusive experience that cannot be seen anywhere else. I had an absolutely wonderful time in every aspect during my stay here. I have already made a reservation for another visit this autumn to enjoy the autumn foliage! Thank you so much for everything this time!

    A tranquil Ryokan surrounded by nature

    On the way by car, we spotted deer, and when we stopped by a nearby station, we found a stag beetle, which delighted the children. There were several baths available, allowing us to relax. The staff provided excellent and courteous service.

    It was a comfortable accommodation. The breakfast was especially abundant with a wide variety of dishes. Both yukata and pajamas were provided, which made me happy. It would have been better if the shop had more variety... That was disappointing.

    Onsen Trip for the First Anniversary of Your Golden Wedding

    This accommodation exceeded our expectations. The young staff worked efficiently and made us feel comfortable. Despite having difficulty walking, we were thoughtfully accommodated with a room close to the onsen, allowing us to enjoy all of them. The onsen was exceptional. The meals were delicious, and we finished everything for both dinner and breakfast. This trip gave us a wonderful day to remember. It was great!

    It was a very pleasant stay.

    I often saw this accommodation as a candidate on IKYU.com and thought it looked wonderful, so I was delighted to have the chance to stay here this time. Although I must admit I wasn't familiar with Amagase Onsen, it turned out to be a charming and delightful onsen. The accommodation itself surprised us with an upgrade to a special room. The Taisho-era romantic-style room was fantastic, evoking a nostalgic feeling like visiting my grandmother's house. The room, meticulously designed using various antique materials collected by the owner, offered delightful surprises at every corner with no compromises in detail. The terrace provided enjoyment of both the view and sound of the waterfall—a truly wonderful spot. The open-air bath by the waterfall also had such charm that we didn’t want to leave. The staff kindly accommodated our request regarding one guest’s dislike of vegetables within their capacity for meals, which we greatly appreciated. Access involves driving through somewhat intimidating mountain roads towards the end and descending further from the gate, giving it an atmosphere of being truly secluded from civilization. The next day we visited Hita for sightseeing and enjoyed both traditional culture in Mameda Town and modern culture related to "Attack on Titan," making for an unexpectedly enjoyable trip. We would love to visit again if given another opportunity—thank you very much!

    I visited at the beg...

    I visited at the beginning of April. The Takimi no Yu bath and the private bath in the room were both very relaxing. I wanted to try the family bath as well, but unfortunately, I didn’t have time and had to give up on it, which was a bit disappointing... The grilled salt-cured yamame fish was absolutely delicious! When my child suddenly felt unwell, you kindly provided cooling sheets and ice packs, which was a great help. If I were to point out any drawbacks... It would be that adjusting the temperature of the open-air bath in the room was quite difficult. There was a faucet by the wall, but without a hose to draw water in, and with such abundant hot spring water flowing in, it didn’t cool down at all… It was quite challenging! Also, perhaps because we stayed on the first floor, footsteps echoed loudly and were very noticeable. A small child in what seemed like a neighboring room (?) kept running around energetically for quite some time, disrupting what should have been a quiet atmosphere… It became hard to endure. (Though this is more about luck than being an issue with your accommodation...) If I have another chance to visit again, I’d love to enjoy the family bath that I missed this time. Thank you very much!

    I was deeply moved by the heartfelt hospitality.

    We visited Tensui for the first time to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. When making the Reservation, I mentioned in the comment section that my father's knees were not in great condition. Upon arrival, the staff showed thoughtful care and had set up a table and chairs in our Room, which was very considerate. The well-maintained garden, the sound of waterfalls from our Room, and the open-air bath overlooking Sakura Falls were all incredibly soothing. The Onsen had a silky texture that left our skin feeling smooth. For dinner, we opted for in-room dining with a kaiseki course. During the meal, we were surprised with a beautiful platter and yellow celebratory attire (a vest and cap) for my mother’s milestone. They even took commemorative photos and gifted us a framed picture shortly after! Both dinner and breakfast featured meticulously prepared dishes made with carefully selected ingredients; everything was absolutely delicious. Thanks to their heartfelt hospitality, we enjoyed a relaxing stay filled with gratitude towards all of the staff. My mother was overjoyed as well—we are truly glad to have chosen Tensui. Thank you so much!
