Open-air Onsen Bath in the Room

The Room was spacious and clean, and the private open-air Onsen bath had a great view and was wonderful. The property is large and the route to the front desk was a bit hard to find, but the phone support was helpful and we arrived without getting lost.

The view of Mt. Fuji from the Room was amazing. I was able to relax and enjoy a soak in the open-air bath in the Room. The check-in location was hard to find.

Stunning views, but the restaurant service needs improvement.

This was my second stay. The Onsen with a terrace facing Mt. Fuji is truly outstanding, and being able to bathe while taking in that view is an experience you rarely find elsewhere. On the other hand, I unfortunately felt I can no longer recommend the dining experience to friends or relatives. Last year, the chef-prepared steak was excellent and I rated it highly, but this time the issue was not the food itself—it was how the restaurant manager handled the situation. The restaurant allows children, and we happened to dine at the same time as a family with two children around two years old. Throughout the meal there were loud screams and repeated banging of toys on the table, yet neither the parents nor the restaurant manager appeared to offer any guidance or consideration. Since we were planning to have dinner at the same restaurant again the next day, I asked the manager whether a similar situation might happen again. However, they only checked Reservation availability and did not provide a clear answer. It also seemed my question was unwelcome, and I was very disappointed by what felt like a lack of sincerity in their response.

The new building is clean and beautiful.

This is my third stay at Sanshisuimei. The new building is very clean and nice. The room was satisfactory. Breakfast was average, neither good nor bad. The bathroom in the room is clean, but the public bath is dirty, and I always feel it should be renovated.

Breakfast is better at the Hotel.

I stay at the accommodation 2-3 times a year for golf trips. Since I have an elderly father, I always book the "Sanshi Suimei" room with a private open-air bath and request dinner to be served in the room. Although my address is registered on IKYU.com and I’ve stayed multiple times, it’s disappointing that I still have to fill out my address and name due to standardized procedures. Additionally, while I prefer having breakfast at the hotel restaurant, it has recently been served in banquet halls, which is also disappointing. The amenities are charged separately, which doesn’t give off the impression of staying at a luxury hotel. I believe services should be adjusted based on room ranks such as cottages or other categories. That said, the rooms are clean and comfortable with open-air baths that I really enjoy. I would greatly appreciate it if improvements could be made!

I had a very pleasant stay.

The view was excellent, and I had the best time soaking in the bath while admiring Mount Fuji in the morning. I also appreciated the Shuttle Service within the Facility using a minibus. Next time, I’d like to stay for two nights instead of just one to relax even more. Thank you very much!

We had a graceful and relaxing time.

I stayed for one night during my trip to Shuzenji. After sightseeing in Shuzenji during the day, I arrived around 6 PM. The property is spacious, and the walk to the guesthouse reception at the far end felt a bit long. This time, I stayed in Sanshisuimei Building No. 2. The Room was very luxurious, offering an extraordinary experience. The semi-double bed was spacious and comfortable to use. It would have been even better if amenities were provided. I had meals at the guesthouse, and thanks to the shuttle bus service, I didn’t feel inconvenienced by the distance. The food was also very delicious. The large public bath was located in a separate building but could be accessed easily with the shuttle bus as well; I enjoyed relaxing in the open-air bath there too. In the morning, I relaxed while enjoying views of Mt. Fuji from my private outdoor bath in my Room and also admired Mt. Fuji seen over a golf course from parts of both Sanshisuimei Building No. 2 and on my way back from the guesthouse area—it was stunningly beautiful! I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity!

    It was a delightful time.

The room offered a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji and the golf course, creating a grand atmosphere. The private open-air bath was relaxing and enjoyable. Breakfast was served in a buffet style, delicious and satisfying. We had a great time with our dog as well. We would love to visit again!

    Shuzenji Sightseeing

Located in nature with a vast property, convenient for car travel. A shuttle bus is available for transportation within the premises. Please note that stairs may be challenging for some guests. The rooms are new and very clean, and the onsen is slightly lukewarm, allowing you to relax for extended periods. On clear days, you can enjoy beautiful views of Mt. Fuji. As part of our SDGs policy, amenities are not provided free of charge, so please bring your own essentials. This accommodation is perfect for nature lovers and golf enthusiasts!

    We had a wonderful trip.

We used this service for our first trip with our dog. After making the reservation, we checked the reviews and got the impression that there are many repeat customers. After actually using it, it was even better than the reviews. We would love to use it again.

The Hotel was not as expected.

A hotel located on a golf course. Transportation from the front desk to the accommodation is by car or bus. It felt more like a company accommodation than a hotel. We paid over 100,000 yen for one night for two people, but there were no toothbrushes, razors, brushes, etc., in the room. It seems you have to purchase them at the front desk... quite amusing! Having visited various accommodations before, this was a first-time experience that made me laugh. I don't think I would visit again. The room itself was clean as expected. It might be suitable for those who enjoy golfing.

    The meals were satisfying, but...

The accommodation was a cottage, and the pick-up and drop-off service provided peace of mind at any time. The large public bath was far from the cottage, which was inconvenient. I expected benefits under the Diamond privilege conditions, but there was nothing provided by the facility.

The staff is friendly, but the Room has a musty smell.

The building felt old, but it appeared clean with some renovations. However, the moment I opened the room door, a strong musty smell hit me, making me dread staying for two nights. As someone with mold allergies, I had to wear a double mask and take allergy medication just to enter the room. Even while sleeping, I couldn’t remove the mask and endured it throughout my stay. Turning up the ceiling-embedded air conditioner made it worse and caused coughing fits. The room was spacious and had an Onsen, which could have been great if not for this issue that overshadowed everything else. The beds seemed identical in height at first glance; however, one revealed pipe legs underneath—a makeshift combination of mattresses and a pipe bed to adjust height—which felt unacceptable for an accommodation of this type. Does no one at this facility notice the mold smell? It poses health risks! Addressing mold issues before renovating would make these rooms much better. As for meals: since we stayed two nights, they varied the menu between Day 1 and Day 2. The second day’s meal was more refined and suited my taste better; overall, the food was delicious. However, on Day 1, I noticed that the basket used for appetizers was worn out—it detracted from what could have been a lovely presentation. Regarding sashimi portions: instead of serving such large quantities all at once, offering smaller amounts of higher-quality fish would enhance enjoyment. For breakfast (buffet style), I expected more local ingredients but found generic options available anywhere else instead. Given its location near fishing ports known for dried fish specialties (himono), incorporating fresh seafood or locally sourced vegetables into dishes would elevate breakfast significantly! Unfortunately—and honestly—the bread served wasn’t as good as homemade versions. It’s disappointing because there is so much potential here if improvements are made in these areas!

    Golf Course Cottage

It might be clear upon careful reading, but the guest room was a renovated golf course cottage. I made a reservation thinking I could relax with my daughter at an onsen ryokan, enjoying a private open-air bath and delicious Japanese cuisine. However, check-in was at the golf course clubhouse front desk, and meals were also served at the clubhouse. For my pregnant daughter, traveling by car from the cottage to the clubhouse was quite challenging. It might be suitable for those who enjoy golfing and stay afterward.

    Overall, we were sat...

Overall, we were satisfied. The room and bath provided a relaxing experience for the whole family. It was also great that the gym within the facility was freely accessible. However, there were some minor concerns that I would like to comment on for your reference in improving hospitality in the future: - Being a hotel located in a mountainous area, it is understandable to some extent, but there were multiple visible spider webs and insect eggs near the door and windows of our room. It would have been better if these areas had been cleaned as part of regular maintenance. We stayed for two nights, but this issue remained unaddressed (it simply felt unpleasant). - During dinner, despite our child being 11 years old and in upper elementary school, we were seated in the same zone as families with preschool-aged children, which made it noisy. - Additionally, as this stay was partly to celebrate my wife's birthday, it felt disappointing when another table next to us also had a surprise birthday cake presentation just five minutes before ours. Since you likely have prior knowledge of guests' plans during their stay, perhaps more consideration could be given by spacing out tables celebrating birthdays or creating some distance between them?

    Pets are welcome.

We stayed for two nights as repeat guests after our visit last year. There were many trainee staff members at the front desk and in the hall, but their explanations and responses to questions were excellent, which left a great impression. The Onsen in the room was flawless. However, we were disappointed with the smell in the room. From the moment we opened the door, there was a strong pet odor that made us feel unwell. When we consulted with the front desk, they suggested bringing Febreze ourselves and handling it on our own. As a result, except during meals and sleep, we kept both the window and door open to air out the room while sharing it with insects. Just because someone owns pets doesn't mean they are okay with pet odors; this stay turned out to be very disappointing for us.

    Perfect for traveling with pets.

Good Points ① The private open-air bath attached to the Room was spacious, so there was no need to use the large communal bath in a separate building. ② We brought two pets, and the pet amenities were well-prepared, allowing us to stay comfortably (of course, an additional fee for pets applies). ③ We requested extra bath towels and towels, and they were properly provided, making our stay comfortable. ④ The dinner had just the right amount of portions, allowing us to enjoy both meat and fish. Suggestions for Improvement The lighting in the Room was quite dim.

    Consideration for accessibility

We stayed as a family of four in the 【Mt. Fuji View】 Onsen Open-Air Bath with Accessible Terrace (Second Building, Quad Room) due to one family member requiring wheelchair assistance. Regarding the bath, there were no handrails for accessing the outdoor open-air bath, making movement somewhat challenging. Additionally, when we inquired at the front desk, there were no bathing chairs with backrests available for loan. We hope such accommodations can be provided in the future. The overall lighting was also quite dim, possibly for ambiance, but it felt slightly inconvenient. For dinner and breakfast, moving to a separate building was necessary. However, due to uneven pathways along the way, this proved to be quite strenuous as well. We would greatly appreciate having wheelchair-accessible parking spaces nearby in the future. On a positive note, during our BBQ dinner experience, the staff's excellent service made it an incredibly satisfying and enjoyable experience that we wanted to highlight as well.

The spacious grounds and the Onsen with an open-air bath in the room are delightful.

I have stayed here several times, and I believe the reason I keep coming back is due to the comfort of staying at this place (Sanshisuimei) and its excellent cost performance. This time, I chose the standard course, and the carefully prepared dishes were especially delicious, leaving me more satisfied than ever. Thank you very much!

    Unfortunately.

We were looking forward to staying with our dog after a long time, but as mentioned in other reviews, the room was too dark. Although it was a pet-friendly room, the bed and sofa were too high for our dachshund, so we couldn't relax together. It would have been nice to have a step stool for pets to climb on. The private open-air bath in the room was good, but there was a gap under the terrace railing that small dogs could fit through, so we couldn't take our eyes off our dog and couldn't enjoy bathing leisurely. It rained on the day of our stay and felt slightly chilly, but we couldn’t turn off the air conditioner because of an unpleasant smell in the room. Our dog also seemed bothered by the smell and remained restless throughout; despite having breakfast included, we decided not to stay overnight and left early. It was very disappointing that despite being a pet-friendly room, little consideration was given to pets' needs.

    Onsen included is great.

There was a microwave and an ice maker, but since it wasn't mentioned, I brought my own ice. When I asked on the way back if every room is equipped with these, I was told there is an ice maker but no microwave; however, there was one. It was unclear whether microwaves are always provided or not, so clarification would be appreciated.

A part of the golf course facility.

I booked with breakfast and dinner included. Traveling by bus for each meal is inconvenient, and having to take a bus to the public bath is exhausting. This accommodation, part of a golf course facility, is overall very inconvenient. Both breakfast and dinner are not tasty at all.

    Landsend

There were a few disappointing aspects.

The room was spacious, clean, and the private open-air bath was very comfortable. The meals were perfectly balanced in quality and quantity, pairing well with alcohol, leaving us very satisfied. (As we are in our 60s, the portion size was just right for us; however, those with a bigger appetite might find it insufficient.) This is one of the reasons we would consider staying again. However, there were some inconveniences. The power outlets were not located in ideal spots, and there were only two hangers available aside from those holding the provided robes. Since we stayed as a pair, this meant only one hanger per person. We removed the robes to use their hangers but still had only two each, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the air conditioning vent blew directly onto the bed while the bedding provided was for all seasons. On a humid night when air conditioning was necessary to sleep comfortably without sweating under the blanket or feeling cold from direct airflow after removing it made it difficult to get proper rest. If we were to stay again, it would have to be during a season when air conditioning is unnecessary. Furthermore, at Laforet Shuzenji where accommodations buildings and facilities like large baths and leisure areas are spread across a vast property—only one room key per room is provided regardless of guest count. This required us to coordinate our schedules constantly for shared access which proved highly inconvenient. Unlike typical hotels where facilities are centralized within one building allowing keys to be left at reception during separate activities—this setup made such arrangements impossible due to its expansive layout causing significant inconvenience during our stay.

The room features an open-air bath, available 24 hours for your enjoyment. You can also catch a charming view of Mt. Fuji. It's wonderful! There are mountain trails for walking and various spots to admire Mt. Fuji. Along the river on the way up to the Hotel, many fireflies were flying around. What a great place!

    Early Summer's Scenic Beauty

This time, I was able to stay at the accommodation at a great value with a discount using points. It was my first stay, and the room size was more than spacious enough for two people. The open-air bath was also large enough for two people to relax comfortably, which was very satisfying. In the morning, I could hear the chirping of bush warblers, and spending time on the terrace became an irreplaceable experience. I plan to visit again during the autumn foliage season. This time, I only had breakfast, but it had just the right variety and was a high-quality buffet. For dinner, I used takeout from outside the facility. The room was so wonderful that I could relax and enjoy my time there leisurely. The hospitality of the staff members was also excellent. Thank you very much!

    First Stay

I decided to take a sudden day off and wanted to relax, so I searched for a room with an open-air bath. I found Laforet Shuzenji Sanshisuimei, which was new and reasonably priced, and made a reservation the day before my stay. After completing the reservation, I researched more about the accommodation and was surprised to find that it had a very large property with various facilities. Although I wasn’t sure where to check in at first, I managed to arrive and complete the process smoothly. Since I arrived 30 minutes early, I waited in the lobby until receiving my room key. The room was new, spacious, and very convenient. The wooden mug provided in the room was adorable and easy to use—I even wished it were available for purchase at the gift shop. However, although I had requested an air purifier during my reservation, there was only a small humidifier in the room. Since there were no noticeable odors or dust due to how new everything felt, I didn’t contact reception about it or use the humidifier. The open-air bath attached to our room was slightly smaller than expected but had perfectly warm water that made it incredibly relaxing—I could have stayed in forever! From check-in until check-out, we used it multiple times and felt truly rejuvenated. While soaking in the open-air bath one time, we happened upon an adorable sight: A mother raccoon dog carrying her baby as they moved their nest nearby. We saw this happen three times during our stay—it really gave us a sense of being close to nature. When we needed transportation to reach the restaurant on-site, calling for a shuttle bus proved convenient as it arrived within 2-3 minutes. On our way back after dinner though—wanting some fresh air—we walked back under pleasant night breezes instead. Although both our private open-air bath experience along with overall accommodations left us highly satisfied overall—the dining experience fell short unfortunately; Dinner looked appealing presentation-wise yet lacked sufficient flavor/quantity while breakfast buffet options seemed limited too sadly… Another minor issue arose upon entering initially: Large piles containing used linens stored right beside entrance area detracted somewhat from initial impressions… These remained uncollected even by evening meal-time later-onward still visible prominently outside doorway itself detracting ambiance unnecessarily perhaps ideally cleared away latest prior guests’ arrivals around ~3pm timeframe ideally instead? Despite aforementioned points raised above however ultimately thoroughly enjoyed tranquil retreat afforded via serene private-room-onsen setup enabling much-needed relaxation unwinding opportunity amidst busy daily life routines otherwise hectic schedules alike! Thankful again warmly appreciative hospitality extended throughout duration entire visit altogether indeed!

    Thank you very much.

We used this accommodation for an anniversary trip. From the time of reservation, we received very courteous service, and on the day of our stay, we enjoyed a luxurious moment with beautiful views of fresh greenery and Mount Fuji from our room and open-air bath. We were provided with shuttle service to the breakfast venue guesthouse, and the hospitality from the staff was truly heartwarming. We would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Room is Good, Meals are...

The room featured a wonderful open-air bath, allowing for a relaxing soak at just the right temperature. The room itself was more spacious than expected, and it was great to be able to adjust the air conditioning individually for each room. However, considering the price, I believe the amenities should be provided free of charge. The meals need improvement. On the reservation site, it stated: "Enjoy a buffet-style menu themed around 'Fujinokuni ~ Blessings of Izu ~,' featuring specialties from Shizuoka and Izu as well as seasonal ingredients." I was looking forward to this but was quite surprised upon arrival. There were only about 20 types of dishes available, and I didn’t feel much freshness or local ingredients in them. Additionally, dining in a dimly lit banquet hall made it difficult to enjoy the meal properly. Despite not being very crowded, seeing staff neglecting empty plates left me disappointed. Breakfast was similar; there wasn’t much that gave me a sense of being in Izu either. It might be wiser to consider using Marriott facilities or bringing your own food instead!
