We received the best hospitality, including a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji.

We stayed here for a mother-and-daughters trip (three of us) to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday. We were also impressed that three beds were set up side by side. All the in-Room meals were delicious, and we enjoyed the dishes inspired by Mt. Fuji throughout—beautiful to look at as well. We could even see Mt. Fuji from the open-air bath in our Room, and we had a truly luxurious time. They also gave my mother a gift for her 90th birthday, which deeply moved us. My mother was thrilled, and it became a wonderful, unforgettable celebration.

    Thank you very much.

The staff provided courteous service, and we had a very comfortable stay. Dinner was especially delicious, and we were able to enjoy it at a relaxed pace in our Room. We visited to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, and after I mentioned it in advance, they kindly served a dessert with “Happy Birthday” chocolate on the plate and even prepared a wonderful gift—we were truly touched. The lounge was spacious, with a great selection of drinks and snacks, which we really enjoyed. The private lounge also had massage chairs, making it easy to unwind. We also enjoyed the large public bath area, including both the open-air bath and the indoor bath. From the rooftop public bath, we could see Mt. Fuji beautifully—it felt amazing. It was a lovely Accommodation full of thoughtful touches. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

Add a bit more of a special touch.

We stayed with the Anniversary Plan. We had hoped to enjoy the in-room open-air bath while viewing Mt. Fuji, but unfortunately it was covered by clouds the entire time and we couldn’t see it on either of the two days. That was due to the weather, so it’s not the Accommodation’s fault. We had assumed the guest room building would be a separate building, but it was actually on the 4th-floor level within Kaneyamaen. As this is a 65-year-old property, it can’t be helped, but there was a sense of age typical of a Showa-era building.\n The service, cuisine, and Onsen were generally good.\n However, considering the price for one night, we would have liked a bit more of a special feel. There is an exclusive lounge for Bessho Sasa (Zenen), but points we’d like to see improved include not having yukata provided in the room (we had to go borrow them like standard rooms) and how the Anniversary Plan is presented.

Very satisfied with the Ryokan with a view of Mt. Fuji

I stayed here because I wanted to visit a Ryokan with views of Mt. Fuji. Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the day of check-in and I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but the weather cleared the next day and I was delighted to enjoy a beautiful view. Meals were served in the Room, and every dish was delicious. The attendant who looked after us provided outstanding service, making our stay truly comfortable. There were many international guests as well, which showed how popular this Accommodation is. I used the private open-air bath in my guest Room and was able to relax while looking at Mt. Fuji—it felt wonderfully luxurious. The “Bessho Sasa” wing where I stayed is located on the 4th and 5th floors of Kaneyamaen, which itself is a very large Ryokan. There is also an exclusive lounge for Bessho Sasa guests. During my stay, I enjoyed matcha tea and sweets as a welcome treat, as well as piano and violin performances. I also had the chance to watch fireflies—a seasonal experience that became a wonderful memory. What impressed me most was the panoramic Onsen on the 10th floor. Soaking in an Onsen while viewing Mt. Fuji was exceptional. The facilities rotate between men and women; when I visited, it was for women during the day and for men in the morning. Overall, it was an extremely satisfying stay. If I have another opportunity, I would love to return. Thank you very much.

    The drums are the best!

We stay at Bessho Sasa twice a year. 1) The kusa mochi served first is extremely hard. It feels like it has been kept in the refrigerator for a long time. 2) The draft beer server in the lounge, which guests can use free of charge at Bessho Sasa, doesn’t seem to be properly cleaned. The wine isn’t good either—if it’s free, I think it still needs to taste good. 3) The in-Room kaiseki meal portions are too large. We get so full that even delicious dishes end up tasting bad. I think you should reduce the portions a little. 4) The taiko drumming was excellent!

    The Best Accommodation

I made a Reservation looking forward to the Mt. Fuji view from Room Fukuji A—and we ended up in the largest room, No. 441! That alone got us excited. Check-in can be done at the Bessho Sasa Lounge on the 4th floor, so there’s no waiting and it’s completely stress-free. The staff member who assisted us was very pleasant, and her explanation of the facilities was easy to understand. We headed straight to the open-air bath with a Mt. Fuji view and enjoyed a relaxing Onsen soak while taking in the scenery—there were hardly any other guests. We chose the Yamanashi Wine Lounge Plan, so we enjoyed alcohol and light snacks at the club lounge (until 18:00), then tasted 32 types of wine at the Yamanashi Wine Lounge. Since each pour is small, it was great for trying many varieties. Wine is served for long hours—until 18:00, then again from 20:00–22:00, and 7:00–11:00—which we really appreciated. There wasn’t beer in the morning. They also had cheese, chocolate, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream, which was a nice touch. We enjoyed it right up until dinner time. Dinner is served in your Room, so you can eat leisurely without being disturbed. The portions are small but high quality—both our hearts and stomachs were fully satisfied. The Japanese taiko drum show is incredibly powerful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the large public bath “Akafuji,” which felt almost private as well. We were happy that our Plan included complimentary cocktails at the night bar lounge. We took a walk through the garden at night and also stopped by “Suisei” for late-night bites. We used our in-room bath many times and enjoyed beer we bought from an on-site vending machine. The Room refrigerator had three 350 ml cans of Yebisu beer, one grape soda, one barley tea, and one Pocari Sweat—and we were told it’s OK to take them home. There were also four bottles of mineral water kept at room temperature. There’s one bath towel and one face towel provided in the Room, but there’s a towel warmer so it wasn’t an issue. Bath towels are available at the large public bath as well, which makes it easy to go empty-handed—a big plus. In addition to loungewear for inside the property, there are pajamas for sleeping in your Room plus a bathrobe—surprisingly helpful. The closet is spacious with plenty of hangers, and there’s also fabric freshener spray. Both my partner and I loved having a Japanese-style tatami room—we spent most of our time relaxing on it. Soaking in our private open-air bath while looking at Mt. Fuji—and then having a beer on the terrace—was pure luxury. Most guests seemed to be international travelers. Bessho Sasa is on the pricier side, but that means you can enjoy quiet time here. The garden is beautiful; we took walks both at night and in the morning. It’s such a wonderful Accommodation that we already want to come back again.

As always, it was wonderfully relaxing—a truly satisfying stay.

We stay here every year in spring and autumn—this is our favorite Hotel. The cuisine is simply outstanding, and the beautiful tableware makes it a feast for the eyes as well. This time we chose Bessho Zenen (Sasa), so we enjoyed an elegant time with both breakfast and dinner served in our Room. Last time we stayed at Sanri. When making a Reservation, you can choose from Yamabikotei, Seseragitei, Miyamatei, and Katsuratei, and enjoy the different styles of each. In addition to the Onsen, you can also experience tea ceremony in the spacious Japanese garden. We felt truly refreshed again this time, and would love to visit in summer as well.

Wheelchair users can stay with peace of mind. The view of Mt. Fuji from the Room was amazing.

I stayed with my father. As he is elderly and uses a wheelchair, we were a little concerned about using the Facility, but thanks to the thoughtful support of the staff, we had no problems and enjoyed our stay. My father was pleased to take his time in the Room bath early in the morning. We were blessed with good weather on the day of our stay and the following day, and the view of Mt. Fuji from our Room was spectacular. If we have the opportunity, we would like to stay again.

The same outstanding service as always.

I stay at Bessho Sasa once every year without fail. I didn’t know that if you arrive early you can use the 1st-floor lounge, so I took a detour to Lake Kawaguchi for photos, but still arrived around 13:45. At 14:30, staff came to the lounge to pick us up and escorted us to our Room. As usual, we enjoyed matcha, but when we tried to enter the tea room we were repeatedly stopped with “Tea? Tea?”—even though I’m Japanese and my wife is Korean but speaks near-native Japanese. Perhaps because she is tall, neither of us was recognized as Japanese. The purpose of this trip was our 14th engagement anniversary. Since I can’t drink alcohol, they kindly gifted us not only champagne but also grape juice. As always, the bath temperature and both the quantity and quality of the meals were excellent—completely satisfying every time. This time we skipped the taiko performance and the bar piano and simply relaxed in our Room; that kind of unhurried stay is wonderful too. Within Hotel Kaneyamaen, Bessho Sasa is a special floor, and it’s a Hotel I recommend highly—well worth visiting every year and one of my personal top two choices.

    Excellent in every aspect.

The other rooms at the hotel were great, but Zenzan was truly exceptional. Check-in was smooth with no waiting, and the staff member guided us directly to the Room where we completed the check-in process. During our stay, the same staff member assisted us throughout with a friendly and charming demeanor, making our experience completely stress-free and wonderful. Thank you so much! The exclusive Zenzan lounge was never crowded, offering good wine and even massage chairs—very enjoyable. We also had access to Koshuyamaen's main lounge, night lounge, large public bath, and panoramic open-air bath, allowing us to choose facilities based on our needs—a great feature. The meals were carefully prepared with delicate flavors that were absolutely fantastic. From the private open-air bath in our Room, we could see Mt. Fuji during the day and stars at night; under moonlight, Mt. Fuji's silhouette appeared magical. If I visit again, I will definitely choose Zenzan!

Excellent service! Stunning views! Completely satisfied!

We chose this accommodation for its excellent view of Mount Fuji. Fortunately, the weather was perfect, and we enjoyed a stunning view of Mount Fuji. Additionally, the autumn leaves were at their peak, making it even more spectacular. The services were abundant; upon arrival, we were welcomed with matcha tea in a tea room and had access to three lounges, all offering delightful experiences that left us wishing for another stomach! The meals were delicious as well. The live piano, violin, and cello performance after dinner was also wonderful. The staff's hospitality was impeccable, making our stay highly satisfying. Since we couldn't fully enjoy all the services provided during our stay, we look forward to visiting again!

    It was a relaxing experience.

We had such a wonderful time that we forgot about our daily lives. The care and attention from the staff were exceptional. Although the weather was not ideal, and we couldn't see Mount Fuji as much as we hoped, it was still an enjoyable trip. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

Blessed with good weather, enjoy views of Mt. Fuji from the guest room window and private open-air bath. The evening view of Mt. Fuji was stunning, seen after crossing the road in front of the Hotel—truly the best view so far. The food was lightly seasoned and decent in taste; we agreed it’s reasonable not to expect more at this price point. Fun events, garden strolls—you can enjoy your stay entirely within the Hotel premises!

I would love to stay here again.

I visited after two years. The lounge has been upgraded, and I was delighted with the enhanced space, drinks, and food. I strolled through the garden, enjoyed matcha and sweets, listened to live violin music while having roasted sweet potatoes and amazake. This was followed by dinner at the lounge, a taiko drum performance by a local group, and a bingo tournament. Afterward, I spent time at the night bar lounge—an incredibly busy yet fulfilling experience. Next time, instead of waiting another two years, I’d love to visit again during next year’s autumn foliage season. The in-room dining was delicious and satisfying. The variety of alcoholic beverages was impressive with high-quality glassware that surprised me. However, as I felt during my previous visit as well, for men especially it might be nice if there were slightly larger portions or an option to add 1–2 more dishes. During my last visit, I could see Mount Fuji glowing red from the rooftop open-air bath; unfortunately this time it was cloudy. But I’m determined to come back for another chance! Thank you very much!

Always enjoyable, no matter how many times you visit.

After arrival, enjoy strolling through the garden, which offers a different atmosphere each time, and savor matcha in the tea room or amazake at the amazake corner before dinner. For bathing, you can choose from three options: a semi-open-air bath in your room, a large public bath, and an open-air rooftop bath. After bathing, relax in the exclusive lounge with a drink until dinner. Dinner features exquisite kaiseki cuisine. Post-dinner activities include taiko drum shows, bingo games, or enjoying live music with cocktails in the lounge—time flies by until bedtime. No matter how many times you visit, it’s always enjoyable. Except for beverages during dinner, most costs are included in the accommodation fee.

    The meals were disappointing.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The meals were... Dinner had few dishes and lacked any memorable presentation, leaving much to be desired. As for breakfast, there weren't enough side dishes, and I ended up with leftover rice. Although it was a room costing over 120,000 yen, the meals were completely disappointing. However, the traditional welcome and drum performance were very impressive, which made it all the more unfortunate.

Enjoy a stunning view of Mount Fuji without any clouds!

We love Onsen trips and travel with my wife 1-2 times a month, always looking for accommodations with (semi) open-air Onsen baths in the room (of course, facilities without Onsen water in the private bath are out of the question!). Both of us have also earned "Onsen Sommelier" certification. While we prioritize water quality as it is an essential aspect of an Onsen, no matter how famous the location is, hospitality remains our top priority when choosing accommodation. We evaluate various aspects such as check-in service, room comfort (especially bedding), dining experience and atmosphere, lounge services, and check-out process (10 AM check-out is unacceptable) while enjoying discussions together. As "Onsen Sommeliers," we want to explore different places but often find ourselves returning to familiar accommodations to avoid disappointment during our precious holidays. We stayed at Bessho Sensen for 2 nights and 3 days. We were fortunate to see Mount Fuji clearly without clouds from the hotel itself, from the summit of Mount Fuji Ropeway, and even from the Fifth Station parking lot—making it a perfect two days! The hotel's hospitality was exceptional above all else. From check-in service by experienced staff to room service by younger staff during meals or at checkout—their smiles and genuine personalities shone through across all levels of staff training. Meals were perfectly portioned with excellent timing for serving warm dishes; everything was deliciously enjoyable. Regarding their Onsen: although I had high expectations due to its pH level around 10 displayed on-site signage—it lacked metasilicic acid content resulting in no slippery or smooth texture feel whatsoever. The public bath area felt too crowded with noisy children lying around casually; after one brief visit together with my wife—we quickly retreated back exclusively using only our private open-air bath attached within our room instead. My wife particularly appreciated her massage session where both technique & conversation left her feeling relaxed & delighted afterward. However—some minor disappointments included early closures like souvenir shops closing at 6 PM along tea rooms offering matcha services also ending operations similarly early alongside lounges temporarily closed between specific hours like 6–7 PM which limited access opportunities slightly dampening overall convenience factor somewhat unfortunately! In conclusion: If your goal involves enjoying great food paired alongside stunning views featuring Mt.Fuji combined w/excellent customer care/hospitality—it’s undoubtedly among top-tier choices available! However—for those seeking ultimate premium-level authentic hot spring experiences specifically—you might find yourself slightly underwhelmed comparatively speaking based upon shared consensus reached Visited for a special occasion.

The guest rooms, the Facility's garden, and the moments spent enjoying drinks while listening to nighttime piano performances were truly soothing. The meals in the morning and evening were very luxurious and satisfying. This Hotel has become one of my top choices for repeat visits. Thank you very much.

    Jus do it!

Although the stunning view of Mt. Fuji was not visible, I was still satisfied.

I returned to Kansai and visited hoping to see the stunning view of Mt. Fuji for the first time in two years, but unfortunately, due to bad weather, I couldn't see Mt. Fuji at all from arrival until departure the next day. Such a pity! However, the hotel's garden was well-maintained, allowing me to enjoy a forest bath and soothe my mind. Maintaining it in this heat must be quite an effort. This is one of the Onsen I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful time.

The Hotel's garden was spacious and beautiful with a clear stream flowing through it. The matcha and Japanese sweets service in the tea room, as well as the drinks and snacks in the lounge, were delightful. The open-air bath in the Room offered a great view of Mount Fuji. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the Room, with each dish being visually stunning and delicious. The staff provided exceptionally polite service, making our stay very pleasant. The nighttime taiko drum show, bingo game, and piano performance were enjoyable and created wonderful memories. I would love to stay again in a different Room next time.

    A Moment of Refreshment

Staying at Zensenzan during the Obon holiday was a refreshing and delightful experience, especially with the breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. The staff at this traditional Ryokan, dressed in beautiful Japanese attire, greeted us warmly with smiles and impeccable hospitality, making our stay incredibly comfortable. The room was spotless, and soaking in the open-air bath while admiring the majestic Mt. Fuji was truly unforgettable. Every detail reflected their dedication to ensuring guests' satisfaction and enjoyment. The well-maintained garden offered opportunities for leisurely strolls, enjoying matcha tea, or relaxing in the lounge—there was never a dull moment. A highlight of our stay was the heartfelt taiko drum performance by the staff that left a lasting impression. Both dinner and breakfast served in our room were thoughtfully prepared with exquisite presentation and exceptional taste while we enjoyed views of Mt. Fuji from our window. The beautifully arranged flowers throughout added to an atmosphere of tranquility and joy. This experience allowed me to spend more time appreciating Mt. Fuji than ever before while receiving unparalleled hospitality that exceeded all expectations. Among all accommodations I’ve stayed at so far, this is undoubtedly the best! I hope to return next time with my mother to share this incredible experience together. A heartfelt thank you to all staff members for their outstanding service!

It lacks a sense of exclusivity.

Unfortunately, the cloudy weather prevented us from seeing Mount Fuji, which was disappointing. Perhaps if we had seen Mount Fuji, it might have made up for it, but I felt that the price did not match the atmosphere of the Facility. The Room also showed signs of aging and wear. However, the customer service was excellent. The lively and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the Facility was delightful, and seeing adorable babies passing by was a treat for the eyes. It seemed like staying in a standard Room at Kaneyamaen might offer better value for money and enjoyment.

    Open-air bath near Mount Fuji

The open-air bath with a view of Mount Fuji offered a truly luxurious experience. The room was spacious and clean, and the view of Mount Fuji from the private open-air bath in the room was breathtaking. The hotel itself was large, and just strolling around was enjoyable. The staff provided attentive service, making for a very pleasant stay. The only disappointment was that all the dishes at dinner were cold. Considering the accommodation fee, I would expect warmer dishes or an improvement in quality. Breakfast was delicious, allowing for a great start to the day. Overall, it is an excellent accommodation that I would love to visit again.
