We appreciate your flexibility in adjusting the meal time even when we couldn’t arrive as scheduled due to traffic. Regarding the large public bath, it closes at 9:30 a.m., so we would be grateful if it could stay open a little longer in the morning. Thank you for your courteous service.

Suimeiso is special.
Whenever I visit Ureshino, I stay at Wataya Besso or Suimeiso. The atmosphere is wonderful, the hot springs are excellent, and the food is top-notch. The warm hospitality of the staff is also one of the reasons it feels so relaxing. The tenant tea salon “TSUBAKI” was as popular as expected, with a very comfortable vibe and a wide selection of cocktails that pair beautifully with tea. Perhaps because the area is quite humid, there were a few spots in the corridors with a slight musty smell, which was somewhat noticeable. It was also convenient—surprisingly close to the expressway interchange, and there are rental cars available at Arashi Station.

It was very good.
The food was delicious, and the Room was easy to use; even though we used a wheelchair, we had no trouble at all. The photo shows the view from the top floor.

WATAYA BESSO’s Creative Cuisine
This was my second stay recently. The head chef’s creative cuisine is neither flashy nor overdone, but makes wonderful use of locally sourced ingredients. The seasoning is thoughtfully refined, with a gentle saltiness and truly excellent originality. I often travel and stay at various places, and meals are one of the highlights I look forward to most. From the relaxing time at dinner to the semi-open-air bath attached to the Room and the indoor bath in the Room as well, I really love how everything is designed. And when I get into bed, there’s an indescribable sense of comfort that feels so soothing.

Aside from the good ...
Aside from the good quality of the Ureshino Onsen water, there was nothing positive. There is no barrier-free access at all, so it is not suitable for elderly guests—anyone with mobility issues would struggle. I understand the property is under renovation, but the staff member who accompanied us during bathing did not even know where the public bath was. They also seemed unable to explain it properly. A request we made during dinner was forgotten and not fulfilled, and despite being known as a tea area, hot tea costs extra. The selection of sake is also limited. We will not be returning.

Great hospitality
The large public bath was great, and the meals were delicious. The rooms are old, and the air conditioning in particular is limited, so I have to say it’s best suited for stays in spring or autumn, but I think the staff’s hospitality makes up for it.

This was my second stay. I had a very relaxing time. The food was delicious, though I apologize for not being able to finish it all. The soft water made my skin feel smooth and was very pleasant. I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you so much! The croissants were delicious as well.

It was a family-friendly accommodation.
I stayed here with my husband and 3-year-old daughter for my birthday trip. I love onsen with open-air baths, but it's often difficult to visit large public baths with a small child, and many accommodations with rooms featuring private open-air baths do not allow children. Here, not only did our room have both an open-air bath and an indoor bath, but there was also a large public bath for annex guests. We used it in the evening and morning, and both times we had it all to ourselves. Since no one was there in the evening, I took my daughter in the morning, and she was thrilled to experience her first big open-air bath. This accommodation also offers in-room dining service. With children around, it's often hard to enjoy meals leisurely, so this was truly appreciated. The staff member who attended us was kind and friendly; given that families with children are not always welcomed these days, we were genuinely happy about this hospitality. I definitely want to come back again. However, I noticed that the Pierre cookie tin sold at their souvenir shop had less than a week left before its expiration date. While it’s partly our fault for not checking the expiration date beforehand, I wish they would ensure such items are checked before being sold if they are close to expiring. Since we traveled from Saga through Yamaguchi → Shimane → Tottori before returning home by then finding out it expired "tomorrow" really surprised us. I also wanted to try the incense-making experience but couldn’t as all slots were full at that time; next time when visiting again hopefully make sure reservations upfront during guidance!

The open-air bath is exceptional.
I stayed at the ryokan during my trip. The ryokan staff were all friendly, kind, and provided heartwarming hospitality! I stayed in a room with both an open-air bath and an indoor bath. The room was clean and very comfortable, and the baths were beautiful—my parents loved them. During dinner, the futons were laid out for us, and they were fluffy and cozy. However, the heating in the room changed temperatures on its own, making it very cold at night. After dinner, I visited the bar; however, it was quite cold inside the building on my way there, which caused me to feel chilled after bathing. At the bar itself though, I enjoyed excellent hospitality along with delicious drinks and desserts! The ryokan offers a fulfilling experience where you can purchase souvenirs or enjoy tasty tea within its premises. However, it's unfortunate that the air conditioning wasn't great as it led to feeling chilled after bathing. For meals: while dinner was delightful too, I especially appreciated breakfast where I could enjoy local specialties like yudofu (hot tofu), seaweed tsukudani (simmered seaweed), and tea!

The room has a great design, including the ceiling, and the quality of the Onsen is excellent! However, adjusting the water temperature for the bath and shower was difficult as there were no indicators, so I initially rushed to the public bath. But when I contacted the front desk, they adjusted it to a comfortable temperature. The stylish Pierre Hermé financiers were provided as tea snacks, but there was no coffee or tea—though the green tea was delicious. At breakfast buffet, I had hoped for at least freshly brewed coffee, which was a bit disappointing. However, inside the facility there were interesting lantern-like works inspired by Chōjū-giga and a corner featuring Chiharu Sakazaki's art that made it enjoyable. The staff at both reception and Shuttle Service were very pleasant; I believe they are fortunate to have such great personnel.

Thank you very much.
The Facility was very clean and comfortable. The staff were polite, but it was a bit disappointing not to see much of the manager's presence or attention. It feels like a missed opportunity for such an excellent Facility. The Hotel we stayed at in Unzen the night before excelled in this aspect, and my whole family seemed to feel the same way. Thank you very much.

Stayed with in-room dining and a private bath included. Dinner was a delightful and playful kaiseki meal, both delicious and enjoyable. The most memorable experience was the "Yudono Shinsho" (exclusive to Suimeiso guests). It was exceptional. The silky smooth water, the open-air bath's sense of freedom, and visiting during such a pleasant season to fully enjoy the onsen made it truly special. A few personal concerns: - Amenities in the room were for one person despite being booked for two guests. - "Yudono Shinsho" only had facial cleanser; no lotion or body cream provided. - A blanket in the room would have been appreciated. This is an accommodation I would love to stay at again. Highly recommended!

The building was impressive, but its age was noticeable. However, the Room's open-air bath was very spacious and allowed for a relaxing soak. The amenities were disposable, and the wooden toothbrush was too soft to use comfortably. It was disappointing that the hairdryer in a room priced at 40,000 yen per night was a low-cost model from MUJI. Many Hotels in this price range offer high-end hairdryers, so this was a downside. The meals were plentiful and delicious, with the tofu chocolate being particularly outstanding. There was significant noise during the morning bath due to riverbank construction work; I would like to stay again once it is completed.

A cozy accommodation.
The quality of the Onsen, room, meals, and hospitality is consistently high-level and reliable. Every staff member in each department was polite and kind. The salon "TSUBAKI," featuring cocktails inspired by Ureshino tea, offered a stylish and impressive space with delicious options. This is a rare accommodation where you can truly feel at ease when told to "relax." A minor point: it would be great if the quality of the shaving amenities could be improved slightly. The blades were not very sharp, which caused some inconvenience.

The onsen village has stairs, so having support during check-out would be even better. The water pressure in the large public bath showers could be slightly stronger. The boiler noise in the early morning was noticeable. However, this was my second stay, and I am satisfied with the meals and other aspects.

We enjoyed various amenities such as the library, tea service, and a selection of tableware and miscellaneous goods! The young staff provided a calm and detailed explanation about the Room, which left a good impression. The meals were perfectly portioned and all very delicious. However, we had high expectations for Pierre Hermé, so it was slightly disappointing including the service at the shop. If we have another chance to visit Ureshino, we would love to stay again.

The room was clean, the facilities were excellent, and I was very satisfied with my stay. It gave me the impression that you are putting in a lot of effort. However, right after checking out, I realized that I might not have packed my charger and cable in my bag. The charger is quite expensive, costing around 6,000–7,000 yen. Since I usually pack chargers deep inside my luggage together, it is almost certain that I left it behind rather than losing it elsewhere. Although I contacted you on the same day, it was not found and still has not been discovered even after a few days. While forgetting something is entirely my responsibility, I had expected it to be found and am very disappointed that this was not the case.

I stayed in Saga for three nights this time to compare, but despite the price, the Room had hair on the floor, and the toilet smelled of urine, which was quite stressful.

Substance over appearance
This was my first stay, and it was more comfortable than I expected. The room's bath had a window that could be opened, making the indoor bath enjoyable without any issues. I didn't use the large public bath available for day visitors but really liked the open-air bath, which required an additional fee of 1,100 yen. Although there was construction outside the hotel and it seemed like an older accommodation, it has become one of my favorites. Thank you for your hospitality.

Traditional hospitality unique to a long-established inn
I fully experienced the charm of this traditional and prestigious Hotel! Although the building showed some signs of age, it was more than compensated by the excellent service from the staff and the thoughtful placement and design of decorations throughout. The Onsen left my skin feeling smooth, and I am extremely satisfied. Thank you for your hospitality.

A traditional Onsen Ryokan from the past
We were guided to the Room with an explanation from check-in, and the front floor had a pleasant scent and a nice atmosphere. However, while the Room seems to have been renovated, outdated and unnecessary features like radio buttons remain. The air conditioning controls are also difficult to understand, and the Room has an old Ryokan smell.

We had a wonderful time.
I stayed at Hakuryu in Suimeiso. When I informed them that I would be arriving late and might barely make it to the spa reservation, they quickly explained the facility to me. Although I didn’t have time to enjoy the welcome drink and sweets, they kindly offered to bring them after dinner, which made me very happy. I had booked a surprise spa for my companion and didn’t want them to see me paying for it. When I mentioned this over the intercom, someone from the front desk responded in a flustered tone saying, "I'll come to your room immediately." A staff member then hurriedly came to our room and explained that the pamphlet given during check-in included spa prices. They had come specifically to retrieve it for us—such thoughtful attention left me deeply impressed. The room was clean and beautiful, with lush greenery visible from Tsukimidai (the moon-viewing platform) accompanied by soothing river sounds—it was truly relaxing. Both my companion and I loved a small space named KICHI within our accommodation. The room featured both an indoor bath and a semi-open-air bath; both were easy to adjust in temperature, which was perfect for someone like me who prefers milder water temperatures. Dinner was served in our room. Since my companion wasn’t feeling well due to summer fatigue, we had requested smaller portions beforehand; however, we received a message from the head chef explaining that they preferred presenting dishes beautifully even if some were left uneaten—so they served regular portions instead. We were initially worried about finishing everything but ended up being so thrilled by how delicious and luxurious each dish was that even my companion finished their meal completely! The exquisite presentation of these delicate dishes remained part of our conversation long after leaving this accommodation. To Chef with such an elegant name: thank you so much for your incredible cuisine—it felt like something worth taking home! To Ms.K who attended us on our first day: thank you for your prompt assistance! You answered all questions about meals nearby sightseeing spots or detailed information regarding accommodations effortlessly making things easier throughout stay. On next morning Ms.O took care providing delightful conversations full energy bright personality brought smiles faces. Lastly special thanks goes out Ms.S consistently supported us warmly adorable voice smile despite hectic moments always attentive carrying heavy luggage while using elevator greatly appreciated! Every staff member demonstrated exceptional hospitality making this accommodation truly outstanding creating wonderful summer memories unforgettable experience overall!

At first glance, it seems good, but small details may catch your attention.
The stylish and fun shops inside the hotel close at 8 PM. If you arrive in the evening, take a bath, and set dinner for around 6:30 PM, there’s hardly any time to enjoy them. If I had known in advance, I would have scheduled dinner an hour earlier. The tickets for breakfast times are on a first-come-first-served basis, but this wasn’t mentioned beforehand. Arriving in the evening meant only tickets for breakfast starting at 9 AM were available—and breakfast ends at 9:30 AM! Are we supposed to eat in just 30 minutes? Towels are not unlimited; there’s a return box provided instead. If you plan to bathe multiple times, you need to bring your towel back each time or pay ¥300 to rent another one. For an accommodation of this price range, towels should be freely available for guests without extra charges. The water pressure in the showers is terrible. Temperature adjustment doesn’t work properly either—some showers only provide cold water! This is critical for an Onsen Ryokan and shows misplaced cost-cutting efforts. Additionally, the post-bath drink vending machine offers processed milk instead of real milk—it looks like milk but isn’t genuine milk! While it might fool foreign guests unfamiliar with it, Japanese guests looking forward to that refreshing post-bath drink will likely be disappointed. The meals were delicious overall but didn’t include squid—despite Saga being famous for Yobuko squid! Even just a small serving would have been appreciated. I couldn’t help but feel that perhaps the owner isn’t Japanese—not that it matters if they’re from another country like China—as long as they love Japan and aim to enhance their Ryokan experience with care and thoughtfulness toward their guests’ expectations. The staff members were excellent; however, such attentiveness seemed absent from how the hotel system was designed overall.

Unfortunately.
I have stayed at many Ryokans before, but this was by far the worst. First, the shower in the bath had very weak water pressure, making it difficult to rinse off. The worst part was the meal—shabu-shabu was served, but due to what seemed like air conditioning wind in the large dining hall, the water took forever to heat up and the meat couldn't be cooked properly. We had to repeatedly add solid fuel and couldn't enjoy eating at a relaxed pace. When I mentioned this to the staff, they said complaints often arise because of poor table placement. If that's a known issue, shouldn't they consider taking measures? For how much they charge, they should think more carefully about these things. Well, I won't be coming back again anyway.

Satisfaction from check-in to check-out!
The guidance upon arrival at the Hotel was impressive and courteous. The meals, made with local ingredients, were delicious. The view from the Room, including the river, was charming and delightful. I would love to stay again.

With friends or couples
We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate a joint birthday party for my friend's husband and my husband. The goldfish lanterns and frog lanterns were adorable. The building itself has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. The guest rooms were clean, though the design felt slightly dated. The food was absolutely delicious! Dinner was luxurious, and breakfast was a buffet with plenty of variety and great taste. The meat, fish, and rice were all incredibly tasty. The seaweed tsukudani served at dinner was the best I've ever had! I will definitely visit again!

A Relaxing Accommodation
Stayed at the accommodation on the way back from Nagasaki. It exceeded expectations with its comfort and excellent cuisine. The checkout time was until 11:00, allowing for a relaxed stay, and even after checkout, there were cafes, shops, and books to enjoy and unwind. However, there were many stairs, which might be a concern as I age. Although there are chair lifts in some areas, certain destinations still required using stairs. Additionally, the room doors closed loudly at times, raising concerns about disturbing other guests during the night. For families staying together but bathing separately, having two keys would be more convenient. I would love to stay again if given the opportunity. Thank you very much!

The lobby area has been renovated and looks clean and beautiful.
I arrived early and asked the front desk if I could eat the bread I bought at the shop in the attached bookstore. When I went there, they told me, "It's a paid service." The front desk staff accompanied me back to resolve the issue, but it would have been nice if the bookstore staff had simply asked, "Are you a guest?" Dinner was delicious kaiseki cuisine, but breakfast was served in an old venue with no chef making omelets and limited variety.
