    Highly Satisfying Accommodation

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my parents' 70th birthday. The building was retro and full of history, yet beautifully maintained, and the interior was spotless, allowing for a comfortable stay. There were drink bars on the first and third floors, with a great selection of alcohol available in the evening. While offering a calm atmosphere, there were also facilities like a pool, vast lawns, and proximity to the beach where children could enjoy themselves. The onsen had a pleasant scent reminiscent of a temple; it was not crowded and provided great relaxation. Above all, the food was exceptional—we enjoyed seasonal pike conger (Hamo) and Awaji beef that were absolutely delicious. The children's menu was also thoughtfully prepared and very satisfying. Lastly, we received a handwritten message card with photos as part of their celebration for my parents' milestone birthday—it made our stay truly heartwarming.

    The rooms were clean...

    The rooms were clean, and the food was delicious, which made for a very satisfying stay. However, one downside was the lack of cleanliness in the washing area of the public bath.

    A wonderful birthday surprise was successfully arranged.

    I stayed at this accommodation on a weekend in mid-June! I wanted to plan a birthday surprise, so I used the celebration plan offered, and it turned out to be an even more wonderful celebration than I had imagined! As alcohol lovers, we were delighted with the free-flowing alcoholic drinks and found ourselves stopping by multiple times in our loungewear! The service was courteous, and I would love to stay here again! Thank you very much.

    It was my first stay.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was a place we had been curious about for a while in Awaji Island, which our family loves, and everything from the room, private open-air bath, terrace, large public bath, to the meals met our expectations. This time, as a surprise, they brought cake and sparkling wine to our room. The warm-hearted service of the male staff member who delivered them made my family very happy. The female staff member who attended to us during dinner also provided excellent service, and the message card we received upon departure was heartwarming as well. Thank you very much!

    Excellent location and service!

    This was my first time staying here. Although it was quite far from Nagoya, being originally from the Akashi area, it felt familiar. After nearly half a century, I revisited the area and enjoyed attractions like the Naruto whirlpools and Awaji Ningyoza. I chose to stay at Awaji Hamarikyu, and it exceeded my expectations—I was thoroughly satisfied. I selected a room with an open-air bath, which was as impressive as a large bath in an Onsen accommodation. However, since the room was on the 4th floor and slightly away from the beach, I wondered if standing up in the open-air bath might make me visible to those nearby—just a minor concern though! If it had been sunny, I could have seen a stunning view of the setting red sun over the sea and Shikoku; unfortunately, only part of this view was visible. Still, imagining how beautiful a star-filled sky would be made up for it. The staff were all very friendly with warm smiles. The food featured incredibly fresh ingredients—especially the sakura sea bream—which were absolutely delicious! Of course, every dish prepared by the chef tasted amazing too. The breakfast buffet offered such variety that while there were many dishes I wanted to try, my full stomach left me regretting not being able to eat more as I left. This is definitely one of those accommodations I'd love to visit again!

    Futons and other amenities in the Japanese-style room

    The Room was a Japanese-style room without a mattress, using traditional thin futons, which caused back pain and made it difficult to sleep comfortably. As for the meals, the dinner menu—sashimi, horaku-yaki, and fish in the small pot—used the same combination of fish, which was somewhat disappointing. The sake was delicious, so it was a bit of a letdown overall.

    Overall, it was great for the price. The day before staying at this accommodation, I stayed at another accommodation of the same group, and they kindly contacted me to ensure that the meals would not overlap. The room was spacious and practical, with a beautiful view of the beach and sea right in front. The lounge and relaxation areas were well-equipped. The view from the dining area was also stunning, and the food was delicious. The large public bath was spacious and comfortable; however, it was disappointing that there wasn’t a view to enjoy. The service provided by the staff members was excellent as well. However, since I arrived early and decided to explore nearby facilities listed in magazines while strolling around, it was unfortunate that everything seemed closed on a weekday (Tuesday).

    Onsen...

    The large public bath and the room bath had a strong chlorine smell, leaving an unpleasant odor on the body after bathing. The open-air bath in the room is visible from the coastline. While the building and room interiors were satisfying, and the hospitality was excellent, it was very disappointing for such a great accommodation.

    Early Spring in Awaji Island

    At Fukura Marche and local stores, fresh onions are already available. It's also the season when sea bream is delicious, and Spanish mackerel is still very tasty. For a delightful drive on Awaji Island, known for its gourmet cuisine, we stayed one night at Hamarikyu for the second time. Despite the number of rooms, the facility is spacious enough to avoid any crowding, allowing for a relaxing stay. According to the Onsen's component analysis chart, it was labeled as "Shiozaki Onsen Stand." The Onsen water supplied from there has a slightly slippery texture and keeps your body warm long after bathing. The semi-open-air bath in our room was also very pleasant; I soaked in it three times thoroughly. One minor downside regarding meals was that dinner felt slightly insufficient in quantity. While it was very delicious, I would be delighted if they could offer something like a salad buffet option. I look forward to visiting again someday!

    A Wonderful Time

    We have stayed here several times. We are a couple who love Hamarikyu. This time, we had two days of complete satisfaction with the view and meals. We spent a relaxing and leisurely time. The Room was also wonderful. The open-air bath in the Room, overlooking the pine forest and sea, gave us warm and happy moments. Thank you very much. We will visit again!

    I felt very happy.

    Shock

    The staff's response was not particularly problematic, but I was deeply shocked by the meals. The sashimi for dinner and the tough roast beef were disappointing, and the Japanese breakfast lacked even grilled fish, with only simple side dishes for rice. Upon reflection, there was nothing about the meals that I found enjoyable, which was very shocking. During my previous visit with my grandchildren, I was very satisfied, which is why I decided to return, but unfortunately, this time was disappointing.

    Reconfirm the usual comfort

    We have stayed here several times. When staying on Awaji Island, this is the first property we check to see if we can make a reservation. This time, since my parents, who are over 90 years old, were in good health, they requested to stay at Awaji Hamarikyu, so we went. Despite the bad weather with heavy rain and wind, and the Naruto Bridge being closed, the property was consistently comfortable and the staff were wonderful, making my parents very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Quick response to facility malfunctions at the Hotel

    It is an elegant hotel located along the beach. It is a visually appealing, small, quiet hotel with about 20 rooms. There are almost no shops around, but there is one cute shop with delicious Baumkuchen, which I visited during my free time before checking in. The hotel room has a convenient layout with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The large public bath has an open-air bath and a sauna, which I liked and used several times. For dinner, I had reserved a course with three-year-old fugu. The taste was really delicious. Choosing this menu was the right decision. Everything was good up to this point, but there was one problem. The room's air conditioning did not warm up. The hotel staff tried various things, but it only improved slightly. Since it was cold, I went to the large public bath to warm up before going to bed. The next morning, the manager came to the room to check the air conditioning and suggested changing rooms, but since it was a one-night trip and I was leaving that day, I declined. Furthermore, the hotel promptly provided appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused by the air conditioning malfunction. I appreciate the prompt response. Thank you.

    First Trip to Awaji Island

    We had a very pleasant stay. All the staff provided service overflowing with hospitality, and the meals were delicious, leaving our family of four completely satisfied. We would love to come again.

    For the price

    I stayed at a property with an open-air bath, and due to issues with the reserved room, I was upgraded to a higher-ranked room. However, it was too spacious for two people, making it inconvenient, and the heating was not effective. I called the hotel in advance to ask if there were any sightseeing spots accessible without a car or if there were any shops near the highway bus stop, and I was told there were none, so I gave up and took the bus immediately after checking out. However, the hotel was promoting the Uzushio Cruise, which could be accessed by bus without a car. It was disappointing that they didn't inform me of this when I called, as I could have planned my schedule accordingly. There was also a souvenir shop near the bus stop. I wish they had at least informed me of this. During the room orientation, there was an explanation about coffee, but none about Japanese tea, which was placed at the bottom of the dishware cabinet, and I only noticed it on the second day. I understand that they might be struggling with a staff shortage, but it was disappointing overall, especially since I paid a considerable amount and was looking forward to the stay. The food was ordinarily delicious, but not impressive. In the past, I was impressed by the cuisine at properties in this price range, but perhaps I've just become accustomed to it.

    I stayed for the first time.

    The room was changed due to full occupancy. The room with a large terrace had a small interior. Conversely, the lower-ranked room had a larger interior and was more comfortable. Some staff members were very nice, but there was a significant disparity in skills and service.

    The smiles of the staff

    This was my third visit to Hama-Rikyu this year. At the dining area, they were considerate about the seating, and they even talked about my stay in May, which made the experience truly enjoyable. I booked a special floor Room and enjoyed the open-air bath. I lost count of how many times I took a bath. Haha I will work hard so I can visit again next year! I look forward to your hospitality then!

    With three sisters

    After various circumstances, it was the first trip for the three sisters in half a year. Choosing Hamaryu on Awaji Island was really a good decision. The Room with an open-air bath was spacious and clean. The staff's smiles were wonderful.

    We stayed to celebrate my parents’ 53rd wedding anniversary. It seems I had mentioned it at the time of the Reservation (I had completely forgotten), and at check-in and when we were shown to our Room, the staff congratulated them, which made my parents truly happy. As an anniversary gift, they also took a commemorative photo and presented it to us at check-out, mounted on a card. My parents were absolutely delighted by this as well. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious—we were very satisfied. The Hotel had a wonderful atmosphere, the view from the Room was great, and it was close to the seaside. My mother was especially happy and said, “It’s been decades since I last walked along the beach.” We had two lovely days. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us!

    Room, meals, bath, service, and location are excellent.

    A grand entrance. The building has the charm of an old Western-style house throughout, perfectly matching the wonderful location, leaving me with nothing but the word "amazing!" The food was delicious, and the staff were lovely, leaving no room for complaints. The bath was relaxing, and the chairs in the resting area were so comfortable that they invited sleep. The only disappointment was the poor flow of the breakfast line in the morning. If this could be improved, it would be perfect. Two people kindly offered to take photos for us, making us want to come back, absolutely want to come back to this Property. Thank you very much. We will come again.

    The toilet is...

    The Awaji Group is used several times a year. I think the price is reasonable and stable. This time, despite the fact that the Room had a toilet right next to the bed (with no partition), the toilet smelled of ammonia and filled the Room. I should have called the manager... It was a holiday, so I think 100,000 yen is cheap, but still, it's 100,000 yen. It was a long-awaited trip with my spouse, so I didn't want to complain too much, but it was disappointing.
