    The Onsen left my skin silky smooth.

    I stayed here once a few years ago, and this time we stayed with my mother-in-law. She was delighted with everything—the meals, the sunset view, the Room, the Onsen, the amenities, and the service. Thank you very much. My daughter mentioned that the hair dryer in the Room had weak airflow and it took a long time to dry her hair; she said she would have preferred a dryer like the ones in the large public bath.

    Awaji Island Specialty Hamo (Pike Conger) Course

    Every summer, my husband and I look forward to enjoying the Awaji Island conger eel course. We have tried it at other Hotels and restaurants before, but Hamari-kyu’s course is by far the most delicious. This year, we tried Awaji Island wine for the first time; it paired well with Japanese cuisine, and we enjoyed it along with sake. As expected of Awaji Island—a treasure trove of ingredients—its onions and other vegetables, fruits, beef, and seafood have long earned it the name “Miketsukuni.” As long as we are still healthy, we would like to drive here together and stay at your Accommodation. We are also looking forward to the winter three-year pufferfish. The book about Awaji Island in our Room, published by the proprietress, was filled with love for Awaji Island. In particular, I read with great interest the section on Teiko Inahata; my haiku teacher is a member of Hototogisu and has told me about her character. We are truly grateful to have received such a wonderful book unexpectedly.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Since last year, I have been seriously ill. During post-surgery treatment, I lost my hair. After finishing treatment, I waited for my strength to return and was finally able to travel again. However, my head is still shaved and I didn’t have the courage to use the large public bath, so I was looking for an Accommodation with an open-air bath in the Room. I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. The food was delicious, and all the staff were kind. Thank you very much.

    We were able to relax and unwind in a very calm atmosphere. The service was attentive, the views were wonderful, and we were very satisfied. We would love to visit again if we have the opportunity.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay. The Accommodation faces the beach, and it was wonderful to be able to take a walk along the shore whenever I liked and enjoy the beautiful sunset. For both dinner and breakfast, we were seated at tables with great views, so we could relax and enjoy our meals. At dinner, they even guided us so we could step out to the beach when the sun was setting, which was very thoughtful. However, the dinner I had been looking forward to was generally lightly seasoned and felt a bit lacking. It was also disappointing that there were no condiments for the small hot pot to change up the flavor. Breakfast didn’t have a huge variety, but it was satisfying. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

    A Short Family Getaway

    Five of us stayed: my parents, my sister and her husband, and me. The weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t see the sunset, which was a bit disappointing. The in-room bath was decent, and the meal portions were just right for us since we don’t eat much. We were looking for a place serving Awaji beef for lunch the next day but couldn’t find a good option, so we asked the staff during dinner to help us. They not only recommended a restaurant but also made a Reservation for the next day, which was incredibly helpful. The lunch spot had a great atmosphere, and we truly appreciated being able to enjoy delicious Awaji beef cooked on an iron griddle. Next time, we’d like to stay in an ocean-side Room when the weather is nice so we can see a beautiful sunset. Thank you very much.

    Even though it was the busy Golden Week period, the service and atmosphere felt relaxed. The meals were delicious, and we were completely full and very satisfied. The bath was clean and nice, but it didn’t feel spacious or open. If the bath had been better, I would have given 5 stars, but I gave 4 because it was a bit disappointing. The food was truly excellent. Thank you very much.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The building’s classic atmosphere was wonderful, from the open atrium at the entrance and the staircase to the restaurant’s stained glass. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring dishes that made great use of Awaji ingredients. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. With a moderate number of guests, there was no crowding, and we were able to relax in the high-quality Onsen. The pine grove scenery was also beautiful, and we enjoyed a leisurely time looking out at the sea from the balcony. It was truly rejuvenating. Thank you very much.

    We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed.

    Because I like New Awaji, I have stayed at Amanohara, Plaza, Yumekaiyu, and Biwa Front in the past. This time as well, I was really looking forward to it, and when I arrived I was impressed by the wonderful Hotel. However, the woman at reception during check-in did not smile and gave a very cold impression. The man at check-out also did not smile at all or offer any words of thanks, which left a very unpleasant impression. The Room had a strange smell, and my dinner seat—something I had been looking forward to—was next to an area where dishes were being cleared away; staff were clearing items right beside me in a rushed manner as it was along a walkway, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The glasses also smelled bad and I could not drink the water. The breakfast buffet had limited variety and I wasn’t sure what to eat. The lounge alcohol selection was also limited and there were no good options. I would not return and cannot recommend it to others. However, my mother has many foods she cannot eat, and they thoughtfully planned and arranged her menu; both the presentation and taste were excellent. I am truly grateful to the head chef and staff members for that—thank you very much! It is such a waste for this Hotel when there are such wonderful chefs and staff. Also, the foreign staff worked hard and were pleasant.

    It can get cold by the window in winter.

    Perhaps because it was winter, or because our dining table was by the window, it was very cold. There were alcoholic drinks in the lounge as well, but the taste was not great. I felt they should focus on improving quality rather than just offering more items, whether for juice or alcohol. The Room was very clean, and the herbal tea provided in the amenities was delicious—I liked it so much that I ordered it after returning home. We chose a later breakfast time, but we received a phone call that made us feel rushed to come earlier. There weren’t many guests, so I wished they would have let us relax.

    The open-air bath is spacious and amazing!!

    Three of us stayed in Room 401. As we had researched in advance, the Room size and the open-air bath were excellent. However, there was only a futon mattress and no additional mat. Dinner was served in a private room, and we were satisfied with both the variety and portion size, but the breakfast buffet was average. Perhaps because it was split into two time slots, having to line up for food reduced the luxury feel and made it seem like an ordinary Hotel. All of the staff were very kind and courteous, which made our stay comfortable. Thank you very much.

    The second stay I had been looking forward to...

    When I stayed here for the first time a few years ago, it was one of the Accommodations that made me think, “I want to come back!” However, after my second stay, I honestly felt that at this price point I would choose somewhere else. First, the tatami mats and sliding doors in the Room were worn out and shabby, which was disappointing—it felt like an old guesthouse. Since I made the Reservation, I felt sorry to my friends. Even the toilet paper seemed low quality, and I wondered if this was really where they needed to cut costs. As for the meals—the part I looked forward to most—they were fine but unremarkable; for example, yellowtail simmered with daikon isn’t something I particularly want when staying at an Accommodation. The meat was tender and tasty, but even after finishing everything, I wasn’t full. Last time, every dish that came out was enjoyable, so did the chef or manager change? The bathroom amenities were also better at other properties in the same group. That said, I was truly impressed that you called before our stay to ask about ingredients we don’t like.

    Winter on Awaji Island is time for adults.

    After deciding on Awaji Island as our Onsen destination to unwind from the year’s fatigue, we found “Hamarikyu.” We were glad to discover that in winter it has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere for adults and offers a truly fulfilling stay. All the staff had lovely smiles. Thank you very much.

    Savor the Awaji Three-Year Tiger Pufferfish Course

    Every January, I look forward to enjoying Awaji Island’s specialty, three-year fugu. I have tried three-year fugu courses at other Hotels on Awaji before, but Hamarikyu’s course is the most delicious by far. With the beautiful seaside views and the Onsen, I always look forward to staying here. As a senior, I can’t eat large portions, so I’m happy to enjoy delicious seasonal dishes in limited-time menus. The summer hamo course is also outstanding every year, and I’m looking forward to making another Reservation. All of the staff are kind and attentive, so my spouse and I are satisfied every time.

    Glad you liked it.

    It was a trip to celebrate my sister-in-law's 77th birthday. The lawn in the front garden and the sunset were magnificent, and the three-year-raised pufferfish dinner met our expectations, bringing her great joy.

    Issues with dinner

    The dessert served at the end of dinner was delicious, but it was disappointing that nothing else left a strong impression. The automatic bread toaster at breakfast was a nice touch, allowing us to enjoy warm bread. However, the variety of dishes was fewer than that of a Business Hotel breakfast, and it was unfortunate that there were no specialties from Awaji Island, such as onions or seafood.

    First time

    This was my first stay. I enjoyed relaxing in the room with an open-air onsen bath. The lounge access was also great. It would be even better if beer were available. During dinner, there were a few moments when I felt the alcohol service could have been smoother, as it seemed forgotten at times. While drinks from the lounge can be taken to the room in cups, it would be preferable if paper cups with lids were provided instead. I would love to stay again if given the opportunity.

    I had a wonderful and elegant time.

    After sightseeing in Naruto by car, we crossed the Naruto Bridge intending to arrive earlier than our reserved check-in time. Unfortunately, due to unexpected construction causing one-way traffic and heavy congestion, we missed the sunset we were looking forward to. The staff gave us a warm and heartfelt welcome, which put us at ease. Dinner featured seasonal local ingredients and was as delightful to look at as it was to eat. The room was moderate but spacious enough for the two of us as a couple, allowing for a relaxing stay. The next day was sunny, and we had an enjoyable time cycling around Keino Matsubara with rental bikes. At the free lounge, my husband enjoyed whiskey for the first time in decades. He mentioned that while there were only walnuts available as snacks, having mixed nuts would have been perfect. Thank you very much for such an elegant experience!

    The view from the window was amazing.

    The Hotel building met expectations, and the view from the window was fantastic. The lounge drink service was promptly replenished, and the staff provided excellent hospitality. However, my parents (who are nearly 80 years old and big food lovers) found the portion size of the special course meal insufficient. They also expected a wider variety in the breakfast buffet, which left them slightly disappointed. The bath was clean and pleasant, but many lockers in the changing area lacked locks for some reason, which caused inconvenience.

    I was worried about bringing my 92-year-old mother with mobility issues, but the Room and restaurant were arranged as requested, and all the staff were kind and helpful. Thank you very much. We left during dinner before the main Awaji beef was served, but thank you for bringing it to our Room.

    Very satisfied.

    The spacious room allowed for a relaxing stay. The open-air bath was nice, but the height of the fence made it visible from outside when entering or exiting, which was a bit concerning. Also, the room lighting at night was too dim, making it hard to see various things; adjustable lights would have been appreciated.

    Luggage can be unloaded at the parking lot, and then proceed to the front desk for check-in. The Room was comfortable, and the amenities were standard. The private open-air bath in the guest room is set to 41°C; please contact the front desk if you wish to adjust it. It was not a free-flowing hot spring, which was slightly disappointing. Considering this Ryokan or HOTEL is not priced as a luxury stay, it might seem odd to comment on expectations. However, based on available Plans, it did not meet expectations and felt disappointing overall. While there were various details worth mentioning, my personal impression is that the meals were particularly underwhelming.

    It was wonderful.

    A lawn garden leads to a pine forest and the sea, offering breathtaking views. The interior and Room were chic and serene, allowing for a relaxing stay. It was a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. Sparkling wine and lemon liqueur were also available in the lounge.

    Misunderstanding

    The onsen water here felt completely different from what I experienced at Uzushio Onsen. A month ago, I stayed at a nearby accommodation by the sea and enjoyed silky smooth onsen water that left a lasting impression. Hoping for a similar experience, I chose this luxurious-looking hotel based on its exterior. However, the water here was entirely different—almost as if it had been diluted. While it did have some smoothness as mentioned in reviews, it was not comparable to my previous experience. Perhaps my expectations were misplaced, but this led me to scrutinize the entire hotel more critically. Check-in was conducted while standing, much like at a business hotel. The welcome drink was brought to our table without coasters or hand towels—just tea served with minimal effort. The explanation of the facilities was given in such a low voice that it was incomprehensible, and room guidance followed the same pattern. The restaurant service also lacked warmth and professionalism; staff recited instructions mechanically without making eye contact or showing any emotion—it felt very unpleasant! Moreover, none of the staff greeted us throughout our stay: not at reception where they were chatting among themselves, not in hallways when passing by employees, nor even housekeeping staff upon departure. The food quality further disappointed us—the fish lacked freshness as if prepared in advance, and dishes like chawanmushi were served cold. While listing every issue would take too long, these examples highlight our dissatisfaction with this accommodation. With inbound tourism increasing and prices set at 60,000 yen for two people per night (30,000 yen per person), one might expect better service from what should be considered a high-end hotel for Japanese standards. Unfortunately, there seems to be no spirit of hospitality within this group—it fell far short of expectations!

    It was a spacious and comfortable Room.

    A calm atmosphere with well-maintained green lawns and a comfortable lobby. The surprisingly spacious Room, powder room, and open-air bath were excellent. It was slightly concerning that pigeons came to drink water at the open-air bath in the morning and evening. The dinner tableware could have had a bit more luxury, but overall, it was a relaxing and satisfying stay.

    Feel like escaping to a cool retreat.

    It was about a 2.5-hour trip from home, and we were able to relax as if escaping the city for a summer retreat. The location was fantastic, and the Room offered an ocean view. The pool is perfect for elementary school-aged children and safe to use. It would have been nice to have a slide, though. The meal portions were just right, with delicious seasoning and fresh ingredients. However, the breakfast buffet was not time-regulated, which led to waiting times, and it took a while for dishes that ran out to be replenished. Despite some disappointments, overall we were satisfied. Thank you for your hospitality! We hope to visit again in the future!

    I had a relaxing time.

    We stayed here for a family trip with our three adult daughters and us, a total of five people. The room with a semi-open-air bath was wonderful, and the Onsen water was smooth and pleasant. We enjoyed soaking in the Onsen multiple times, feeling truly luxurious. The meals were delicious, and the whole family was very satisfied. We were completely full. Although it was cloudy and we couldn't see the sunset, we enjoyed sparkling wine on the beach while admiring the beautiful scenery, which made us feel relaxed. If everyone's schedules align again, we would love to return. Thank you for taking care of us!

    Highly Satisfying Accommodation

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my parents' 70th birthday. The building was retro and full of history, yet beautifully maintained, and the interior was spotless, allowing for a comfortable stay. There were drink bars on the first and third floors, with a great selection of alcohol available in the evening. While offering a calm atmosphere, there were also facilities like a pool, vast lawns, and proximity to the beach where children could enjoy themselves. The onsen had a pleasant scent reminiscent of a temple; it was not crowded and provided great relaxation. Above all, the food was exceptional—we enjoyed seasonal pike conger (Hamo) and Awaji beef that were absolutely delicious. The children's menu was also thoughtfully prepared and very satisfying. Lastly, we received a handwritten message card with photos as part of their celebration for my parents' milestone birthday—it made our stay truly heartwarming.
