The silky Onsen was ...
The silky Onsen was very soothing, and the Hotel felt quiet, homey, and surrounded by greenery. The hand-drawn neighborhood map made by the staff was charming. For dinner, the French meal was not a fixed course; I felt that being able to choose from a menu would likely improve satisfaction in both portion size and quality. At breakfast, although there was a delicious smell of bread (or maybe pastries?) in the dining room, a standard Japanese meal was served, so I would have appreciated having a Western option as well.

This was a very satisfying Hotel. I knew the Room would be spacious, but it was even bigger than expected (laughs). It was quiet, and I was very pleased with this adults-only hideaway-style Hotel. We used the Shuttle Service, and when we mentioned the Omagari Fireworks Festival, they took a route that passed by the fireworks venue and explained various things along the way. Their gentle manner and kindness made it clear what a great Hotel this is. The fresh green maple leaves were a feast for the eyes, and the silky Onsen left my skin smooth and moisturized—one night wasn’t enough, so next time I’d like to come back around snowy season to relax. The checkout was pleasant as well, and my friend said they were extremely satisfied too. Thank you also for the souvenir gift. This will definitely be one of my favorite Hotels.

This is my second stay.
This was our second stay. Last time, I came with my daughter, and the French dinner was so outstanding that I knew we had to return someday. That wish came true, and this time I was able to bring my two sons. Since it was my younger son’s birthday, I ordered a cake through the Hotel website and they kindly prepared it for us. The food is, of course, top-class—both dinner and breakfast are highly recommended. The Onsen was also wonderful, with silky-smooth water. We would love to visit for a third time. Thank you very much to all the staff.

A small Hotel
As we have only a few Rooms, the number of guests is naturally limited. It was very quiet, and we had a wonderful time.

The food is absolutely delicious.
The French cuisine made with local ingredients, enjoyed with chopsticks, was absolutely delicious. Nothing to complain about. The explanations of the dishes were clear, courteous, and wonderful! The Room had quite steep steps, which might be a bit tough for older guests. The bath water felt soft and silky-smooth, which was really nice.

Thank you very much.
This was the first night of my first trip to Akita. It’s a Hotel with a calm atmosphere and only 10 guest Rooms. Both the Room and the free-flowing hot spring bath were spacious, so I could relax and take it easy. The food was delicious, and you could tell it was carefully prepared. The portion size was just right for me, though it felt a little small for my husband. Breakfast was hearty, and my husband was satisfied as well. The coffee was also excellent and made our stay even more comfortable. It’s a Hotel I’d love to visit again and again.

A silky, lotion-like hot spring renowned for its beautifying waters
With only 10 Rooms in the entire property and a detached layout, it was very quiet and we were able to relax at a leisurely pace. The Onsen was surprisingly spacious for a 10-room property, and the large windows offered beautiful views of the forest, which was truly soothing. We visited the famous Nyuto Onsen the day before, but the water quality here felt richer—like a silky lotion—and suited my skin better. After bathing, my skin felt amazingly smooth; it really lived up to its reputation as a “beauty bath.” I’d love to come back during the Omagari Fireworks Festival season.

Perfect for a relaxing stay
This Hotel feels as if the entire Facility is nestled in the forest, making it a great place to relax at a leisurely pace. That said, there are only the Room, the bath area, and a café lounge, so it could use a bit more creativity. The meals are French cuisine in a kaiseki style, which is enjoyable with plenty of variety. Considering the reasonable rates, it offers excellent value for money. If they served food one level above, it might better highlight what makes this Hotel unique. The Room furnishings feel thoughtfully designed, but that doesn’t quite come across to guests and can feel inconvenient or leave you wondering how certain things are meant to be used. The Onsen is also wonderful; despite having many strong points overall, it’s disappointing that they aren’t being showcased effectively.

Autumn Deals: Onsen Hopping in Akita Prefecture
I stayed at a Resort Hotel known for its excellent French cuisine, about an hour’s drive from Akita City. On the way, we ran into a sudden downpour and water was overflowing onto the road, which was scary, but we checked in safely at 3:00 PM. Thank you for the warm welcome. Our Room was a lovely mountain-lodge-style auberge called Yugao (Japanese-style room). It has been renovated and felt very clean. There were also floor chairs, which I really appreciated. We headed straight to the Onsen. The silky “moor” type water was amazing for my skin—thick like a sauce—and left it smooth. The open-air bath was also at a perfect temperature. The front desk staff repeatedly warned us that it can be slippery, and I completely understood why. At 6:30 PM we received a call letting us know our table was ready. We were seated by the window toward the back—thank you for arranging that. Dinner was a full French course, starting with marinated horse mackerel with Daisen City “Face” cucumbers and grilled eggplant roulade topped with sea urchin. Beautiful presentation and delicate flavors—absolutely delicious. We ordered white and red wine by the glass; both were reasonably priced with generous pours, which made me happy. Other dishes included tomato and snow crab mélange, charcoal-grilled Hinai chicken with mango sauce, abalone pot-au-feu, tuna and scallops with butter sauce, mantis shrimp marinade, and grilled beef tenderloin in Provençal style—so many different flavors to enjoy little by little. I expected bread as the main starch, but at the end they served a duck breast gâteau-style dish—essentially a rice bowl—which was a fun surprise. Dessert (bavarois) was great, and so was the herbal tea. I was completely satisfied. After another relaxing soak in the Onsen, I went to bed feeling wonderful. Breakfast was Japanese style. The kiritanpo had an authentic taste—perfect in miso soup—and there were many Akita specialties such as salted salmon (“botakko”) and junsai (water shield). The rice was Akitakomachi from Daisen City; it was cooked a bit too soft for my liking, which was my only disappointment. Everything else exceeded expectations. We also enjoyed complimentary coffee. As an IKYU perk we received well-known local sweets as well—I’m very happy with our stay overall on this autumn trip to Akita.

Refresh
I enjoyed the open-air Onsen surrounded by tall trees. I was also pleased to see the trees from the window of my Japanese-style Room. Last time I visited during the snowy season, so this time the fresh greenery felt especially moving. It’s less than an hour from Akita City, and being embraced by the forest while enjoying the Onsen and delicious meals was a true luxury. Next time, I plan to request a Room with beds. The female staff were kind and pleasant.

Completely satisfied with the bath and meals.
This time, we used Dokobyu-n and ended up choosing Akita. After researching various options, we wanted to stay here because the Reviews were excellent, so we decided to get off at Omagari Station. We were also very lucky that there was a campaign called “Akita Tokutabi.” (I was a bit concerned about the bear news reported day after day, but I was told there have been no sightings near the Hotel.) Dinner was a full-course meal. The beautifully presented, carefully prepared dishes were truly delicious. (Those who prefer hearty portions—especially men—might find it a little light.) Breakfast was adorable and packed with local ingredients and Akita-inspired dishes, which we really enjoyed. What stood out most this time was the large public bath. The open-air bath is wonderful among the surrounding trees, but even if you choose to use only the indoor bath because you’re worried about bears, you can still enjoy a beautiful view outside. The Onsen water is moisturizing—almost like lotion—and leaves your skin smooth. (However, my husband mentioned that the men’s open-air bath felt lukewarm and he thought he might catch a cold; another male guest who happened to be there said the same.) When we checked out, we received an impressive boxed assortment of sweets with the message: “From IKYU.” This trip happened to be centered on staying at the Accommodation rather than sightseeing since Akita was chosen through Dokobyu-n by chance, but we are truly glad we chose this place. Thank you very much.

This is a truly wonderful Accommodation.
I stayed here a year ago and have wanted to return ever since. Once again, I had a wonderful time. What impressed me most this time as well was the warm hospitality of the staff. Across every department, including the younger team members, you can truly feel their sincere welcome. The Room was surrounded by fresh greenery and dappled sunlight, and I was able to refresh myself by enjoying the outdoor air on the terrace. The Onsen was also excellent, leaving my skin silky smooth. The spacious Room and the entire property were impeccably clean—there wasn’t a speck of dust anywhere. I imagine it must take great effort to maintain that standard every day. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with beautifully presented dishes made with local ingredients that we could really enjoy. On departure, I also received a wonderful souvenir as a Diamond member benefit—I almost felt bad accepting it—and it was delicious as well. I would love to visit again in another season.

Everything is outstanding. It’s easy to see why so many guests return.
Along the long, sloping corridor leading to the Room, the walls are decorated with shadow-and-light paper-cut works (lithographs) by Seiji Fujishiro and paintings by Judy Ongg, reflecting the owner’s and architect’s vision. The Room is also thoughtfully designed with no wasted space, giving the feel of a luxury Ryokan. Dinner and breakfast were creative French courses, with staff explaining each dish one by one, and my wife—who traveled with me—was truly delighted. With only 10 rooms, the bath was an Onsen that was heated, but it was never noisy and we could relax and enjoy it at our leisure morning and night. This is another Hotel I would definitely recommend to friends and acquaintances.

I’m sorry.
Although the property promotes its natural setting, we could hear traffic noise from the road, and perhaps due to the many trees, the Room felt dark and somewhat cramped. The meals were tasty, but the portions were small. The lounge was also inconvenient to use.

The Room is spacious, but...
The Room we stayed in was described as a Junior Suite, but it was only spacious. There were TVs in each room, but they were all small and didn’t suit the size of the Room at all. There is a lounge for guests, but the only drinks available were hot coffee and lemon water, and there were just some cookies. You have to make drip coffee yourself, but because you pour hot water from a pot, it splashed and I burned myself. I would have appreciated an electric kettle instead of a pot. The food was delicious.

Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Each dish was carefully prepared with care using ingredients from Akita. The open-air bath also felt like being in the forest, and it was very relaxing. I enjoyed it both at night and in the morning.

Thank you for hosting us on our long-awaited trip to Akita. The peaceful atmosphere in the forest allowed us to relax and unwind. We enjoyed a soothing Onsen at a leisurely pace and savored the delicious, thoughtfully prepared meals. The staff’s warm smiles made it a wonderful day and a great memory. Thank you very much. I chose it because it was a great value.
I chose it for the great value, but it turned out to be a wonderful Hotel with elegance and class several levels above expectations. The Room, reached via a memorable corridor, was spacious and perfect for relaxing. As is true of Onsen in Akita in general, you can’t go wrong—this bath was excellent as well. Breakfast lets you enjoy Akita specialties in well-balanced portions, so I highly recommend it. The hand-drawn guide map made by the staff was also charming. If I visit in summer, I’d like to try the pool too—it was closed during my stay.

In a word, it felt like excellent value for the price.
I won a trip to Tazawako Station through JR’s “Dokoka ni Viewn,” so my husband and I stayed here together. In conclusion, considering the price, I think this Hotel offers top-tier service. After I informed them that I was pregnant, they were considerate about thoroughly cooking the meat and fish at dinner, and they also prepared cushions and a blanket for me. The creative French cuisine that made the most of local ingredients was delicious as well. I especially loved the apple dessert. The lounge’s baked sweets and drink service was enjoyable, and in our Room they brewed tea for us—the lovely aroma was very soothing. The spacious building was kept impeccably clean, and the attentive hospitality throughout truly warmed my heart. Also, I personally felt very happy that the large public bath wasn’t crowded—at certain times it even felt like we had it to ourselves—but it made me wonder if this area doesn’t get many tourists except during fireworks season. Since it’s such a wonderful Hotel, I really hope more people will visit. (That’s why I decided to write a Review for the first time.) By the way, my husband had irritated skin from something unrelated the day before, but after soaking in the silky Onsen his skin looked smooth and radiant again. We enjoy Onsens around Japan, and there’s no doubt about the water quality here.

The Onsen is great.
My spouse and I stayed for one night. We arrived at the Hotel by rental car while enjoying the autumn leaves. We were able to relax in the lounge with delicious coffee and sweets. The open-air bath was also wonderful, and it felt like being in the middle of a forest. Thank you as well for the Diamond member gift.

During the year-end and New Year holidays
I stayed here with my two sons. At other Hotels or Ryokans, the meals are often so large that we can’t finish them and end up feeling uncomfortably full, so I chose this Hotel because I thought we could enjoy the French cuisine deliciously to the very end. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the kiritanpo hot pot in the morning warmed us up nicely. The Onsen was empty, so it felt like a private bath, and we were able to relax without worrying about others. Unfortunately, the ski resort we had planned to visit couldn’t be used because its opening was postponed due to a lack of snow, but there was still far more snow than in my hometown, and we were able to fully enjoy playing in the snow for the first time in a while.

What a nice hot spring!
The Onsen was excellent. It made my skin smooth, and I felt refreshed as I started sweating immediately. The shampoo had a very pleasant scent, which was soothing. The meals were delicious in terms of quality, taste, and presentation. The alcohol was also enjoyable. However, the portion sizes were small and left me wanting more, which was disappointing. The futon was thin and hard, causing back pain. The room layout wasn't very good either. But it was convenient that the bath was nearby. All the staff treated us very kindly and shared detailed stories about the hotel's history, which we appreciated greatly. Despite some points mentioned above, I would love to visit again someday! Thank you very much!

Thank you very much.
We stayed here on the second night of our 2-night, 3-day trip to Tohoku. Unfortunately, the weather on the second day was not favorable, and we had to request an earlier pick-up than planned. Additionally, when I felt unwell and needed to visit a hospital, the staff kindly assisted us with transportation, which was very helpful. Since it was a Monday and there were few guests, we enjoyed having the Onsen all to ourselves. However, we avoided using the open-air bath out of concern for potential bear sightings. If we have another opportunity in the future, we'd love to visit again with our grandchildren as there is also a pool available.

A wonderful Hotel you'd want to visit again
Check-in after 8 PM. Upon entering the room, I was greeted by the aroma of tea, which made me feel delighted by the hotel's hospitality. Although I initially felt disappointed about staying without dinner due to arriving after an event, I managed to visit Yamanote Café before it closed at 9 PM. There, I ground coffee beans and enjoyed a cup of coffee along with a cookie and a slice of cake, which allowed me to relax. The onsen was excellent as well; with the sudden autumn chill in the air, the warm water soothed my soul and helped me sleep soundly. Breakfast was filled with Akita's seasonal flavors! From junsai and tonburi to iburigakko, fresh eggs with care in preparation, and hotpot—I thoroughly enjoyed it all before heading off to Mount Chokai. Next time, I'd like to savor this museum-like hotel more fully along with dinner. It was a wonderful hotel!
