    Unfortunately.

    This time, I stayed with No Meals Included. Unfortunately, it was raining. Check-in was smooth, and I received the room key before heading to the room. During check-in, I was able to reserve a private open-air bath. However, there were leaks in the hallway on the way to the room... When I arrived at the room, there were hairs and trash on the floor that made it seem like it hadn't been cleaned properly. I went to the front desk and explained the situation; they lent me a lint roller with a smile. At night, I couldn't sleep at all due to footsteps, noises, and voices from upstairs. Although there were many disappointing aspects, the nighttime illumination was beautiful.

    There were many good points, but some things felt unclear...

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The room was clean, the open-air bath was lovely, and the food allowed us to enjoy plenty of delicious vegetables. Overall, it was a wonderful place. However, I felt disappointed with the service at the restaurant during dinner. I had requested a birthday plate in addition to our course meal and confirmed the message on the plate via email the day before. But on the day itself, even after we received our final drink, no plate appeared... My boyfriend seemed ready to leave after finishing his meal, so we left without saying anything. Additionally, two groups who arrived after us received their first dish earlier than we did. While a wine bucket was provided for their bottle of wine, ours was simply placed as is on our table—this inconsistency made me wonder if it had something to do with age discrimination? It left me feeling uneasy. Furthermore, when those next to us finished their meal, they were given their bill promptly; however, no bill came for us. I assumed it might be brought later since service seemed smoother for them compared to us—but eventually had to ask myself about it at checkout time instead of receiving one directly at dinner like others did.     Unexpectedly

    I booked the most affordable Plan, but my Room was upgraded! Since my birthday was the day before, I was overwhelmed by this unexpected surprise. A very lovely Western-style Room with antique decor, and it's a whole building rental. The breakfast with delicious vegetables was also highly satisfying. Thank you so much!

    The Room was far mor...

    The Room was far more wonderful than expected, and we were able to relax very comfortably. The private open-air bath was perfect for the two of us to enjoy a leisurely soak while chatting, which made it very relaxing. We also decided to add breakfast at the last minute, and it was delicious and highly satisfying. We would love to stay here again.

    The wine bar was excellent.

    We stayed in the newly built room as a couple (in our 50s and 60s). The room was clean, not too big or too small, and felt just right. However, the toilet door was a bit stiff and hard to open. The open-air bath was nice, but there was no remote control for the air conditioner in the changing room, so we couldn't use it to cool down. We recommend checking this in advance. For dinner, we dined at the "Wine Tavern." We received a coupon worth 5,000 yen per person, which allowed us to enjoy plenty of food and drinks. Since we often end up leaving food uneaten with course meals, we appreciated this dining style. The dishes were well-prepared and delicious. Breakfast was a vegetable-focused buffet style that we thoroughly enjoyed. Karuizawa has many tourist attractions, so we'd love to stay here again and enjoy Karuizawa further!

    Meals: Standard

    The Room is a Japanese-Western style. It features beautiful tatami mats, offering a clean and comfortable space to relax! The fresh greenery visible from the window was stunning and truly captured the essence of Karuizawa. However, the standard dinner was disappointing. The portion size was too small, even for women in their 50s, making it feel insufficient. In particular, the main dishes were quite limited—we ended up ordering two additional dishes for two people. On the other hand, breakfast was very satisfying with its abundant offerings! As for the bath, we appreciated having a private bath available; however, the water temperature was extremely hot and made it difficult to soak for long periods. It would be great if adjustments could be made to suit seasonal temperatures.

    The photo of the bathroom is incorrect.

    We were looking forward to the private open-air bath, but we were told at the time of reservation that all baths are of the same design. However, it was not as atmospheric as shown in the photos and felt more like an ordinary family bath, which was disappointing, so we left quickly. The breakfast had a good variety of vegetables, juices, soups, etc., and we enjoyed it. However, the main dishes like French toast and acai bowl were somewhat underwhelming.

    The exterior and atmosphere are lovely, but overall, the content does not match the price, leaving me honestly disappointed. Room - The room itself is fairly clean, but the quality of amenities feels cheap. It was especially disappointing to find only two teabags provided, both of low quality. - Additional charges for cleaning are a drawback. - Wi-Fi speed is slow and unsuitable for work or streaming videos. - Some areas had dust remaining, indicating that detailed cleaning was not thorough. Shared Bath - Certain aspects felt poorly maintained and not in a comfortable condition for use. Meals - Service was slow, and the quality did not justify the price. - Despite this price range, requiring various additional fees feels unreasonable. Service - While some staff members were pleasant, there were inconsistencies in service quality with some disappointing interactions. Overall Review I would not revisit this accommodation. At a similar price range with slightly more budget added, there are clearly better options available elsewhere that offer higher satisfaction levels. It is difficult to recommend this place to those prioritizing cost performance.

    A Facility Reflecting the Charm of Karuizawa

    The building had a charming Karuizawa atmosphere. The room with an indoor bath and terrace was comfortable. The staff provided polite service. The restaurant featured dishes highlighting vegetables. For the second dinner during our Multiple Night Stay, we chose a different menu and incurred an additional charge. At breakfast time, one of the doors leading to the breakfast venue through the shop was locked, leaving about 20 people waiting outside, which was disappointing.

    We stayed for one night as a couple for the first time. The hotel's exterior at night was just as described in the reviews, with an atmosphere that felt like being abroad—truly wonderful. Additionally, after checking out, I realized I had forgotten something, but the front desk promptly contacted me and kindly sent it via courier.     The price was high during the Obon period, but... I'm not sure if the experience matched the cost. The Room was a Japanese-Western style and comfortable to relax in. However, the structure allowing anyone to access right in front of the room felt a bit insecure. Bugs could easily enter—there was even a horsefly in the room. There was a slight odor on the bedding that bothered me. Amenities were plentiful, but L'Occitane shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling rough. The meals were decent overall; I enjoyed the bread and vegetables. The freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast was delightful. The private open-air bath had only one washing area, making it inefficient for multiple users at once. The shower sprayed water everywhere, which was another downside. Overall, there’s an undeniable sense of age to this place. It might be more suitable for couples.

    The bath was very relaxing.

    We used the private open-air bath in the morning as it was unavailable at night. The breeze felt pleasant and enjoyable. When I returned to retrieve a forgotten item, the next guest was already inside, so I couldn't enter. I went to the front desk to check if my item had been found. While I understand that it's up to me to check periodically since there's no way of knowing when the next guest will leave, it would have been nice if they had said something like "We'll contact you if we find it." Although forgetting something is my own fault, a little more consideration as part of customer service would have been appreciated.

    I had a pleasant stay.

    This was my first stay. Since it was no meals included, I cannot comment on the food, but the room was more spacious than I expected and very comfortable. The young hotel staff were efficient and pleasant, making the stay enjoyable. The free drink service was also a nice touch.

    Delicious Vegetables

    Family 3-night stay. The "Hirameki Dinner" was satisfying all three days. Breakfast lacked Japanese side dishes, which might disappoint those who prefer rice. Unfortunately, the Room was a letdown. The Main Building Standard Japanese-Western Room was small, with difficult door operation and no space to spread luggage. Poor construction quality as well. For comfort, consider choosing a better room option. Service varies by staff but is generally positive overall.

    Due to a boiler malfunction, the in-room jacuzzi bath was unavailable. Despite staying in an expensive Room, it was disappointing. We also dined at the restaurant, but for the high price, the portions and variety were limited. Unfortunately, this Hotel left much to be desired.

    The atmosphere of the Facility, including the garden, is pleasant, and the Room is comfortable except for the water facilities. The meals are also delicious. However, there was an impression that operations were not running smoothly. There were several areas for improvement in check-in flow, check-in management, and restaurant operations that could significantly change impressions if addressed. Additionally, this might reduce staff workload as well. Furthermore, focusing the budget on renovating either the bathroom in the Room or the open-air bath might enhance guest satisfaction and reduce daily cleaning burdens for staff.

    Excellent staff service

    The staff's service was excellent, and the thorough cleaning during the Multiple Night Stay was particularly impressive. However, it was disappointing to see items like a broken hairdryer and showerhead, possibly due to limited investment in guest rooms. I strongly hope these will be replaced as part of regular maintenance.

    I stayed at this Hotel for my dear friend's birthday. The dinner's birthday plate and the Room decorations were truly wonderful, making the birthday surprise a great success.     If you want to experience the unique atmosphere of Karuizawa

    Opened in 1981, I had always wanted to stay here whenever I passed by. Seeing in a guidebook that the meals feature an abundance of Karuizawa vegetables, I decided to stay in a renovated room. Dinner was satisfying, including the hospitality and atmosphere. The additional grilled asparagus (served with three pieces) and plum rice balls for a late-night snack were excellent. Breakfast was rich in vegetables, and adding freshly squeezed orange juice to sparkling wine gave me a true taste of Karuizawa. Next time, I'd like to stop by for lunch during my travels.

    We stayed with our children and were concerned about possibly being noisy, but after consulting with the staff, they kindly suggested a room change, allowing us to have a very comfortable stay. We are especially grateful to the female staff member at reception for her courteous assistance. The meals were delicious, and all the staff members were warm and welcoming, making it a truly satisfying stay. The vegetables were particularly tasty, and we were delighted that our children ate plenty of them. The bread was also excellent. We bought canelés as souvenirs to take home; they were very delicious, and the tin case was adorable as well. We would love to stay here again when visiting Karuizawa!

    Stayed in the new building for two nights, which was clean and spacious, providing a comfortable experience. The staff were friendly and left a very positive impression. The meals were undoubtedly delicious, especially the vegetables. However, the vegan breakfast might feel a bit light for men. For dinner, we tried both the restaurant and the wine bar on separate nights. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with à la carte options that were satisfying. The wine bar was also enjoyable; however, I was slightly disappointed as their signature hamburger wasn’t available—possibly seasonal—but there were plenty of other menu options to enjoy. The female staff at the bar were warm and engaging in casual conversations, making it an excellent place to relax with drinks. As for the onsen, private onsens are available by reservation; however, the outdoor bath water was too hot to stay in for long periods comfortably. While not bad overall in terms of ambiance, it could use more impact or uniqueness. Overall rating: 5 stars! Highly recommended Hotel where you can enjoy Karuizawa’s serene atmosphere at its best!
