    Unfortunately.

Before my stay, I had carefully contacted you about my allergy, but mackerel was served at breakfast on the day. I did not mention it at the time because I thought it might become a bigger issue, so I am contacting you here instead. I hope you will be more careful for other guests in the future. Also, I felt the lighting in front of the Room was a bit too dim.

    I visit Ise every ye...

I visit Ise every year for the pilgrimage, but this was my first time staying here. I’ve stayed at several other Kyoritsu Resort properties as well, and they were all clean and had comfortable Rooms. I had high expectations, but this time I was disappointed. The price and the Room didn’t match at all. The Room feels like a slightly nicer Dormy Inn-style Japanese room. There’s no indoor bath—only a shower room. The tub is an open-air cypress bath, but it is not an Onsen. The toilet has an inward-opening door, which makes getting in and out quite difficult. You can walk to Naiku Shrine, but there are 70 steps down at the start; on the way back up it’s pretty tough. Next time...

    It was a wonderful trip.

The Room was a little small, but it was comfortable with no issues. The meals were extremely satisfying and very delicious. I enjoyed them so much that I regret not having room left for the late-night soba. I also enjoyed the ice cream and fruit milk after the bath. I was able to visit Naiku early in the morning and spend a solemn, peaceful time. Since the forecast said it would be cloudy, I headed out early without an umbrella, but a staff member from the Accommodation I met along the way kindly lent me one, saying the rain might get heavier—and that turned out to be absolutely right. Thank you very much. It was truly a fun and relaxing trip. When I visit Ise Jingu again, I would love to stay here again.

    Wonderful Ryokan

I stayed on June 10. It was conveniently located close to Ise Jingu Naiku and Okage Yokocho, and the Ryokan seems to have been renovated, so it was very clean. The pleasant service and the meals were excellent. One thing I noticed is that the website still appears to show information from before the renovation, such as souvenirs not being available. I assume it will be updated with post-renovation photos, but I think it would be better to do so sooner. That said, the service was great and we really enjoyed the delicious meals. Thank you very much.

    30th Wedding Anniversary

This was our first stay. We really enjoyed our visit to Ise Shrine. The Room felt a little small; since it was our 30th wedding anniversary, we wish we had chosen a larger Room.

Convenient for an early-morning visit to Ise Shrine

I stayed at Ikyu because I wanted to visit the Inner Shrine early in the morning, and it was conveniently located nearby. The large public bath left my skin feeling smooth, and I also used the private bath when it was available. After bathing, there were ice pops, coffee milk, and fruit milk, which felt pleasantly nostalgic. The entire building has tatami flooring, making it easy to walk around and very relaxing. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I stayed here to visit Ise Jingu early in the morning. The location is truly outstanding, and it made for a wonderful, refreshing visit. However, even though I informed you in advance that I have a shrimp allergy, sakura shrimp was included in my breakfast. At checkout, the chef apologized, but afterward, while I was sitting on a bench where I had been directed to wait for a taxi, another staff member told me to “move” and made me leave. It seemed they wanted to take photos for other guests, but the way it was said was quite harsh. Also, my mother had hurt her leg, so it left us feeling very disappointed. It felt like this level of service despite booking a special Room. Considering the location, Onsen, Room quality and other factors, I may stay again when visiting Ise Jingu next time, but I hope the service will improve.

An ideal location for visiting Ise Grand Shrine (Naiku) and strolling around Oharaimachi.

I was amazed by how congested the traffic was around the Jingu. I was glad we managed to reach the Accommodation’s parking lot a little early, but the front desk and lobby were also crowded with guests waiting to check in. In the end, they finally started calling names about 20 minutes after 3:00 p.m., and we headed to our Room with our key and a card key for the Miyabi Floor. There was a brand-new wooden open-air bath on the terrace, but it was an extremely windy day (so windy that even the ribs of the plastic umbrella we borrowed for visiting Naiku snapped). Leaves and small branches kept blowing down from the forest right in front of us, so we didn’t even feel comfortable opening the windows and chose not to use it. Instead, I took a shower in the Room, changed into a yukata, and went to the large public bath. The Onsen in the large public bath truly saved me after my body had gotten chilled from an early-morning visit. As it had just reopened after renovation, everything in the building felt new and spotless. After dinner, I stopped by the vending corner exclusive to guests on the Miyabi Floor, but it seemed there was some kind of malfunction; two staff members were quietly working on it. In the end, I only took a can of beer from the refrigerator. Dinner began with four small appetizers—urui (hosta shoots), seri (Japanese parsley), fava beans, kinome miso (young pepper leaf miso), and more—an excellent introduction to what followed. The sashimi served after soup was perfect in both freshness and portion size; it paired wonderfully with irizake seasoning as well as with Mie Prefecture’s recommended sake tasting set. I also enjoyed their idea of simmering chicken, pork, beef, and seasonal vegetables such as spring cabbage, new onions, and bamboo shoot tips in two different broths at a relaxed pace. The “Kokorobakari” course included simmered katsuobushi-bushi (dried bonito) pieces and small ayu fish fried with aonori seaweed. For rice/dish at meal’s end, I chose tuna tekone-zushi on our attendant’s recommendation. Breakfast was classic Japanese fare: two kinds of grilled fish; thick rolled omelet; shigure-ni; simmered greens; soy milk hot pot; lightly toasted nori; plus a small salad and yogurt. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Ideal Accommodation for Visiting Ise Shrine

Both the Facility and the service were excellent for an Accommodation. If I had to mention something, a 20:00 dinner time slot felt a bit late, and even with the late-night soba service it wasn’t enough to satisfy a small hunger. I’d also like to see a bit more creativity in the menu. Breakfast was good.

    That’s disappointing.

I arrived early, so I was glad you were able to store my luggage. However, the last available dinner time was 8:00 PM. With a 3:00 PM check-in, why was only the final 8:00 PM slot available? The staff member in charge of dining service was excellent. I also wonder about the 24-hour ventilation system. It was so noisy that I couldn’t sleep. (I asked for it to be turned off.)

    It was great again!

This was our second stay, and Iku was outstanding once again! The location, overall quality, and meals were all flawless. The only downside was that the staff seemed unsure about the smoking area’s location and how to use it, so the answers varied and it was confusing. That part was a bit disappointing. Everything else was perfect—I’d give it 100/100! We’ll be back around the same time of year. Thank you in advance.

    Pros and Cons

Thank you for your hospitality. Overall, I was very satisfied. [What I liked] 1) Staff: Kind and cheerful. 2) Meals: High quality, with an appropriate amount. [What could be improved] 1) Tatami flooring throughout the building: Cleanliness felt questionable (since others walk barefoot). 2) The spacing between washing areas in the bath is too narrow: Uncomfortable (water from the person behind, such as shower spray, splashes over). The capacity and the size of the bathing area feel unbalanced. 3) No shop on-site: Even if you don’t stock souvenirs, it would be better to have a small shop. 4) The time gap between meal seatings is too long (first seating at 5 pm, second at 8 pm): The number of guests and the number of restaurant seats feel unbalanced. I assume these were decisions made during the renovation, but it feels like a missed opportunity.

This was our first stay here. Unfortunately, it rained, which was a bit disappointing, but the food, the Onsen, and the Room were all very clean and we were extremely satisfied. However, since we like to use the Onsen many times, it was a little inconvenient to go and pick up bath towels and towels each time. We felt it would be better if bath towels and towels were available at the large public bath (just our opinion). We would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The Room’s bathroom was disappointing.

I was surprised at how small the Room bath was (lol). There was grass scattered on the floor outside, so I didn’t feel like getting in and went to the large public bath instead—I didn’t use the Room’s open-air bath even once.

Once in a Lifetime, Visit Ise... Accommodation Ichisuke

We received heartfelt service and relaxation throughout our stay. At check-in, we waited for about an hour to reserve a dinner time, so some improvement might be needed. The meals were very delicious and satisfying, but the dinner portions felt slightly large. As we age, we feel guilty about leaving food, so we tend to finish everything. The onsen and baths were very satisfying; however, personally preferring wooden baths, I felt that the rock bath could use some improvement. The customer service, free drinks (coffee, tea, milk), ice cream, and late-night ramen were all very enjoyable. Thank you very much!

    Ise Pilgrimage

This is our second visit. We first stayed here two years ago because it was within walking distance to Naiku and the room had an open-air bath. This time, we came as a family of three with our one-year-old child. The staff were very kind and friendly towards our child, which was a great help. Thank you so much! Also, since our child is too young to use the large public bath, the open-air bath in the room was very convenient for us. If I may suggest, having a shower or washing space in the open-air bath would make it easier to wash small children. It became a wonderful memory for us. We have already made another reservation for next time and are looking forward to staying at your renewed accommodation! Thank you very much!

A Wonderful 60th Birthday Celebration Trip

A trip to Ise Shrine to celebrate a 60th birthday. We stayed at Iku, recommended by a friend. The meals were perfect in both taste and quantity, and we were very satisfied with the private bath and large public bath. The free service of drinks and light snacks showed the accommodation's thoughtful hospitality. We attended an early morning prayer at 5 AM at Naiku (Inner Shrine). With fewer people around, we could fully immerse ourselves in the sacred atmosphere of Ise Jingu. It’s only about a 5-minute walk from Okage Yokocho, making it an ideal accommodation for shrine visits. I would love to visit again if given the chance. It was truly a wonderful trip to Ise. Thank you very much!

    Early Morning Visit

It was a great place to stay for an early morning visit to Ise Jingu. Thanks to the staff's advice, I was able to go for the early morning visit that I had been hesitant about. The private bath was easy to use, as it could be used if available. The meals were also very delicious.

    Thank you very much.

The Room's bath and the large public bath were excellent. The meals were also very satisfying. I would like to use this place again when visiting Ise. However, the bed in the Room was low and not very comfortable. It would be even better if this could be improved. Thank you very much.

The ambiance is nice, but the meals are lacking.

This is an ordinary Ryokan, making it difficult to give a high rating. The private dining rooms are commendable. The location is indeed unique, just 15 minutes to Naiku Shrine. However, the cedar grove near Naiku Shrine is sparse and not as impressive as expected. The main issue seems to be the cuisine. Cost-cutting? Unfortunately, it falls far short of kaiseki standards and feels quite ordinary. It was unexpected and does not match the price of 35,000 yen per person per night. Even on weekdays, there’s no Ise lobster or abalone included in the meal; instead of kaiseki cuisine, it felt more like hot pot dishes which was disappointing. If Matsusaka beef is served, teppanyaki would be preferable; including pork and chicken in a mixed hot pot (shabu-shabu or sukiyaki) raises questions about compatibility with such premium ingredients. The two-flavor hot pot concept also seems questionable here. As for dessert—daifuku mochi paired with pear compote—this combination lacks harmony. Elaborate gestures are unnecessary... Instead, focus on enhancing the appetizers (sakizuke). If served at all before appetizers arrive would make more sense timing-wise!

    The Best Accommodation

A memorable first solo trip to Ise Jingu with a 2-night stay. I loved the tatami flooring throughout the hotel, allowing me to walk around without slippers! The staff were all very polite and made my stay comfortable. Even though I checked out late and cleaning had already started in other rooms, the staff greeted me warmly and ensured cleaning tools stayed inside the rooms, keeping the hallways open and inviting. Unlike many hotels where cleaning tools are left in hallways, this hotel's attention to detail impressed me greatly. I enjoyed both Japanese and Western-style breakfasts—both were absolutely delicious! The baths were wonderful too—I used the private bath, public bath, and room bath multiple times. The room bath was so relaxing that I couldn't resist using it repeatedly! When I requested extra towels after enjoying so many baths, they promptly brought them to my room—such great service! Being close to Naiku Shrine allowed me to visit for an early morning prayer—a completely different atmosphere from daytime that made my trip truly special. I would definitely choose this hotel again when visiting Ise Jingu in the future. A big thank you as well to the shuttle service driver who kindly let me hop on at Isuzugawa Station on my way back from sightseeing—it was much appreciated!

    The best in Ise

I stayed here during my visit to Ise Shrine. Although I wanted to attend the morning prayer, I was too exhausted from the previous day's visit and couldn't make it. The toilet in the Room had an emergency water tank, and towels were prepared in a bag for bathing. The thoughtful touches typical of Dormy Inn were present throughout, making my stay very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, reasonably priced, and left me feeling very satisfied.

The distance to the shrine is just right.

The area offers many attractive dining options, but the meals here are well-balanced and exceptionally delicious. It would be wonderful if slightly smaller portions and additive-free, vegetable-focused meals could be provided. The bath is spacious and not too crowded, making it an ideal choice for a stay when visiting Ise Jingu Shrine.

Close to Ise Jingu Inner Shrine and Okage Yokocho.

The location is excellent, allowing for easy walking and exploring. During our stay, we didn’t use a car for transportation. The meals were delicious and plentiful, with even a late-night snack provided. The post-onsen coffee milk was fantastic. Opening the milk by piercing the lid with a pin brought back nostalgic memories of the Showa era, which amazed younger guests who were unfamiliar with it. The onsen can be used freely without a reservation if private rooms are available. There’s also a variety of yukata to choose from, which my wife enjoyed very much. My room was designed to accommodate caregivers, with the shower and toilet combined in one space; however, the toilet area felt slightly cramped due to its semi-transparent door. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay but felt a bit lonely as there was no send-off upon departure—perhaps because check-out time seemed busy.

    First Visit to Ise Shrine

I chose this accommodation because it was within walking distance to the Inner Shrine, and it was the perfect choice. Okage Yokocho was much closer than expected, and I thoroughly enjoyed the early morning visit. The onsen had lukewarm water, which was perfect for me as I’m not a fan of hot baths. The complimentary ice cream, coffee milk, and fruit milk after bathing were a delightful touch. The room was clean, compact, and user-friendly, and the meals were delicious. However, the dining chairs and the height of the beds in the Japanese-style room were a bit low, so extra care is needed when sitting or standing. The staff provides proper guidance for this. Thanks to this accommodation, I was able to enjoy my first visit to Ise at a relaxed pace. Thank you very much.

    I had a relaxing time.

The proximity to Naiku Shrine was a major attraction. This accommodation with an onsen, allowing for early morning visits to Naiku Shrine, is likely one of a kind. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were highly satisfying with almost no complaints. However, despite the complimentary small bottle of beer provided, the price of alcohol felt slightly overpriced compared to other hotels. The fully tatami-matted floors throughout the facility were delightful for walking barefoot, and the free private baths were a great perk. Additionally, services like late-night ramen noodles and post-bath ice cream or coffee milk were very much appreciated. That said, the private open-air bath in the room felt somewhat inconvenient during summer.

    Unfortunately.

This was my third stay, but I was very disappointed with the meals and the room this time. The meals, especially breakfast, were not edible at all. The white rice was yellowish, sticky, and clearly not freshly cooked. I am not asking for luxury, but the meal was so terrible that it ruined the breakfast I had been looking forward to after an early morning visit to Ise Shrine. As for the room, it might be because it hasn't been renovated yet, but there was an odor and the refrigerator wasn't cooling at all. I hope there will be improvements after renovation in the future.

    Cozy

I stayed for 2 days and had a very pleasant experience as all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is within walking distance to Ise Jingu, allowing me to visit the Inner Shrine early in the morning. The baths, including a rock bath and a cypress bath, were excellent. For meals, I enjoyed Matsusaka beef shabu-shabu for dinner and soy milk hot pot in the morning—both were incredibly delicious. I would love to stay at this accommodation again when visiting Ise Jingu.
