    Everything exceeded our expectations! An Accommodation we can confidently recommend for a three-generation trip.

    From January 24, the four of us—my mother in her 80s, my sister, my 10-year-old niece, and I—stayed here. It was such a wonderful stay that everyone kept saying, “It was amazing!” and “We want to come back!” What impressed us most was the quality of dinner. In a spacious private dining room with table seating, each dish was brought out one by one, freshly prepared and piping hot. Every course showcased the richness of Shiga’s local ingredients. Of course the Omi beef was outstanding, but every detail reflected Shiga’s flavors with great care. My mother couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was and finished everything—seeing that made me truly happy. We were also amazed by the children’s meal: both the number of dishes and their quality were exceptional. Even my small-appetite 10-year-old niece kept eating enthusiastically, saying, “This is so good!” It really showed the Accommodation’s commitment to serving excellent food without compromise—not only for adults but for children as well. The Room size, the comfort of the futon bedding, and the warm hospitality from all staff—everything deserves top marks. This is an Accommodation I can confidently recommend for an important family trip.

    It is truly a wonderful Ryokan!

    During our year-end trip to the Kansai region, we stayed at "Ryotei Ryokan Yasui." Upon parking our car, we were warmly greeted by a dedicated staff member and a male attendant who kindly assisted us with our luggage and guided us to the entrance. The grand gate adorned with a large noren curtain, the stone-paved approach leading to the entrance, and the meticulously maintained greenery created an inviting atmosphere for this charming accommodation. Inside the ryokan, all areas including hallways were beautifully covered in tatami mats, eliminating the need for slippers. The comfort of these tatami mats immediately soothed our travel-weary feet. When shown to our room, we were amazed by its spaciousness featuring two adjoining rooms. My wife was particularly delighted by the beautiful furisode displayed on an ikou rack. From the warm room, we enjoyed views of a winter-themed garden that brought a sense of peace and relaxation. The much-anticipated dinner began with appetizers and concluded with dessert—all served in exquisite dishes that perfectly complemented each course's theme. The presentation was stunning, and every dish highlighted its ingredients' natural flavors in an exceptionally delicious way. We were also deeply moved when the head chef personally came out to greet us during dinner service. Breakfast was equally delightful—each dish offered gentle flavors that felt nourishing for both body and soul; it left us feeling full and content from early morning. As for bathing facilities, both indoor baths and open-air baths operated on a gender-swapping schedule so guests could enjoy each one at their leisure. Overall, we were deeply impressed by all staff members' exceptional hospitality led by our attentive attendant. This ryokan provided such comfort that leaving after just one night felt difficult! Although visiting again soon may be challenging due to distance constraints from home—we sincerely hope this wonderful accommodation will host us again someday in near future! Thank you very much!

    Satisfied with the deliciousness. Had a relaxing time.

    As expected from a fine dining Ryokan. The cuisine was elegantly seasoned, and I was very satisfied. If I may express an ideal, the bath was wonderful, but the open-air bath had a rotation system, so it could only be used from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the day of stay. It would be perfect if it were available the next morning! I think satisfaction would increase even more. For accommodation, we stayed in a room with an irori hearth; the atmosphere was great and satisfying overall. However, as someone with limited mobility, I wished for features like a sunken kotatsu or floor chairs. Perhaps some consideration for elderly or disabled guests could be beneficial? That said, regarding both the cuisine and service—overall satisfaction remains high!

    I'm glad this was my last accommodation of the year.

    My husband and I visited Shiga for the first time in 2025 as a "thank you for your hard work" trip and stayed at this Ryokan. We enjoyed a relaxing 2-night, 3-day stay. This was the best Ryokan we have visited in recent years! The food was especially exquisite and left us deeply impressed. Having visited many Ryokans before, I couldn't help but wonder, "Why is the food here so delicious?" It was that good! There were no unnecessary decorations (like inedible flowers or overly extravagant tableware) just to make it look fancy; everything on the plate was both beautiful and delicious to eat, which I personally appreciated very much. On our second night, we had soft-shelled turtle hot pot, which was also exceptional. Additionally, since the open-air bath was temporarily unavailable during our stay, we were offered complimentary drinks from the refrigerator as an apology. The amount provided surprised us—it felt like too much—but it made us very happy! (In the end, they finished repairing the open-air bath during our stay so we could use it without any inconvenience at all—if anything, we felt guilty for receiving such generous service.) With only a limited number of rooms available at this accommodation, there were hardly any encounters with other guests within the facility. This allowed us to enjoy quiet baths without crowds—a huge plus for us. The room had a wonderful atmosphere; all of the staff members provided excellent service with warm hospitality. Thanks to them, we were able to conclude our year on such a positive note. We would love to try staying in another room next time and will definitely visit again. Thank you very much!

    The food was as deli...

    The food was as delicious as the reviews said. I usually don't eat much in the morning, but I finished all of my breakfast. It's a bit disappointing that it's not an Onsen, but the large public bath has a high ceiling and offers a view of the courtyard, creating a sense of openness. One side also has an open-air bath where I could relax. The service was impeccable, and I had a pleasant stay.

    To visit my son in Shiga.

    We made a Reservation here because the dining Reviews were good. The meals were generally well prepared, made with quality ingredients, and delicious, but the steak I chose (from steak, shabu-shabu, or roast beef) was more like roast beef and slightly cold, which was disappointing. We also enjoyed the breakfast. We didn’t use the hinoki bath in our Room because it looked too cold. It was a wonderful family trip.

    An Accommodation That Satisfies All

    Due to a highway closure, our arrival was significantly delayed, and we were worried about the meal we had been looking forward to. However, we received a kind phone call reassuring us to travel safely, and upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed, which put us at ease. The accommodation was clean with tatami flooring throughout, making it very comfortable. The meals exceeded our expectations in both presentation and taste; both breakfast and dinner were the best we've ever experienced among any accommodations we've stayed at. Rather than relying on ultra-luxury ingredients, the dishes conveyed the chef's passion and exceptional skills (as my wife mentioned). All staff members provided excellent service with warm hospitality, making this an absolutely satisfying stay. We will definitely visit again!

    Exquisite Cuisine and a Serene Accommodation with a Relaxing Garden

    Since the pandemic, I have been choosing small, quiet accommodations with fewer rooms. Ryotei Ryokan Yasui is a quiet accommodation known for its delicious cuisine. Each dish is carefully presented, and both dinner and breakfast were absolutely satisfying—everything was delicious. The room offers a serene view of the garden, allowing for a truly relaxing time. I wanted to visit Taro-bougu Shrine from Hikone Serikawa via Ohmi Railway, so I requested an earlier breakfast time, which they kindly accommodated—I am very grateful for this. Despite my early departure, they thoughtfully saw me off at the gate with warm hospitality. It was a wonderful accommodation filled with heartfelt service. If I have another opportunity to visit Shiga Prefecture, I would love to stay here again and take my time enjoying it more leisurely next time. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    A Perfect Getaway for Women Travelers

    We had the pleasure of staying as a group of four ladies who love to travel and enjoy good food. All four of us were extremely satisfied. The meals were absolutely delicious, and there was nothing we didn't like. The Room and bath were also excellent. We would definitely recommend this place to others. The price was reasonable as well. Please continue maintaining this wonderful experience in the future!

    Exquisite Cuisine

    We enjoyed the delicious small portion course and were very full. Everything, including breakfast, was delicious! It was a delightful experience. However, the Room "Yuzan" was disappointing. The garden along the walkway for other guests felt unsettling and did not allow for relaxation. We had to request the shutters to be closed immediately after arrival. It would be appreciated if room location details were described more clearly and if we could choose our room in advance.

    This time, I chose this Ryokan because I preferred one without in-room dining. The dinner and breakfast, which I had been looking forward to, far exceeded my expectations. Each dish was carefully prepared with beautiful presentation, and the tableware was thoughtfully selected to match the cuisine, reflecting the chef's strong dedication. Of course, the taste was exquisite. What made the dining experience even more special was the warm hospitality of our assigned attendant. Without rushing us, they adjusted to our pace, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our meals. If someone asks me for a recommended accommodation, "Ryotei Ryokan Yasui" would be at the top of my list!

    The cuisine is excellent.

    The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable from the timing of the dishes to the explanations and warm smiles of the staff. They even took a photo in front of the entrance curtain during our send-off, which was a thoughtful touch. The freshly cooked rice in a clay pot was exceptionally tasty.

    I want to come again.

    We stayed in a 4-bed room for four people, and everything was wonderful. If I had to mention something, it would be the lack of a sauna in the bath and the absence of open-air baths in both baths. It has become an accommodation we would like to visit again.

    Enjoyed the second stay this year to the fullest!

    I stayed at the accommodation in late March and revisited because I wanted my family, who couldn't join last time, to experience it as well. We chose the small portion course for the meal, which was creatively prepared with a summer theme, had sufficient quantity, and was delicious. Last time we had in-room dining, but this time it was different. Although I was a bit worried since we have a toddler, we were able to enjoy our meal leisurely in a spacious private room. At night, charcoal was placed in the irori (traditional Japanese hearth) for us. With only a few rooms available, there’s no crowding at the large communal bath and the hospitality is excellent—making it an incredibly comfortable stay. Thank you very much for your care!

    The taste was truly exceptional.

    The room was full of charm, and as the name "Ryokan with a restaurant" suggests, the food was undeniably delicious. As a travel enthusiast, I have visited various Hotels and Ryokans across different prefectures with my wife before our child was born, but this place ranks among the top five for its exceptional cuisine. They even prepared rice porridge for our daughter, who is less than one year old, which we deeply appreciated. I look forward to visiting again as a family when our child grows up and can enjoy the meals together.

    Enjoy a unique experience at this accommodation, renowned for its authentic kaiseki cuisine. I had high expectations after reading the reviews, but every moment exceeded them, allowing me to enjoy a truly pleasant stay. The room was a traditional and spacious Japanese-style room. From the veranda, I could admire the meticulously maintained garden. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room, allowing me to savor each dish without worrying about others.     The cuisine is exceptional.

    Dinner and breakfast were very delicious. It would be nice to have coffee, even drip coffee, in the Room in addition to tea. The basic information mentioned that the bath is available until 9:00 AM, but it can actually be used until 10:00 AM. I would love to visit again.

    A slightly belated birthday stay in the castle town of the national treasure "Hikone Castle," located at a comfortable distance from the big city. Relax in an open-air bath, enjoy views of Lake Biwa near the Sea of Japan and Mount Ibuki, and savor the blessings of mountains, sea, and lake at this Ryugu Castle-like retreat.     Enjoyed the taste of summer ayu fish.

    I visited for the first time to enjoy ayu fish. Both the ayu and other dishes, including breakfast, were absolutely satisfying.     A Quiet and Sophisticated Accommodation

    With a limited number of rooms, it was very quiet and peaceful. The Room was spacious as well. I chose this place because I wanted to enjoy delicious meals, and the dishes exceeded my expectations—very satisfying. Breakfast was also great. It took less than 5 minutes by taxi from Hikone Station to get here. On the way back, I walked, which took about 10 minutes. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Hikone Castle. I’d love to visit again for the delicious meals!

    The entire accommodation had a calm atmosphere, allowing for a relaxing stay. The staff were all polite and attentive. The meals were delicious and reflected the seasonal flavors (the selection of Shiga's local sake was also impressive, including some rare options). Since we were in a large group, we dined in a private room separate from our main room. It was located slightly away, providing privacy to enjoy conversations while savoring the meal. Although the large bath was not an onsen, towels and other amenities were provided, and it was clean and comfortable to use. My parents and I had a wonderful time here. Thank you very much!

    Excellent hospitality and delicious cuisine

    Stayed with my elderly mother and siblings. The ryokan has a charming atmosphere from the entrance, where you walk across stepping stones while enjoying the garden view. The spacious entrance features an impressive suit of armor to welcome guests. The room was large with a traditional hearth, exuding historical charm, yet the renovated facilities like the bathroom were modern and well-maintained. Meals lived up to the reputation of a fine dining ryokan, offering generous portions of creative and locally inspired delicious dishes. Hospitality from all staff was warm and made our stay comfortable. Although not an onsen, the newly renovated large bath was very pleasant. It would have been even better if there were high-power hair dryers available.

    Highly Satisfied

    The Room was spacious and beautifully furnished. During the cherry blossom season, the garden view from the Room was stunning, with petals scattered like a carpet. Dinner was exquisite, featuring fresh local ingredients. However, it was a bit disappointing that the Omi beef with egg for breakfast was too salty. The location is convenient, within walking distance to Hikone Castle. The staff were kind and overall, it was an excellent stay.

    We stayed here to celebrate my wife's birthday. From arrival to departure, the warm hospitality made it a memorable celebration. The meals were delicious and very satisfying. Although it was a bit disappointing that the bath was not an Onsen, we enjoyed the spacious bath and open-air bath three times during our stay. For two days, we had a pleasant experience with excellent service, facilities, and food.
